Re: Final Fantasy Pixel Remaster Physical Edition Getting Wide Retail Release

Moroboshi876

Let's hope this means the price will go down as retailers such as Amazon use to slash the prices of their products.

I hope that the absurd price tag that has kept me from entering the series up until now is due to the collection being a Square Enix Store exclusive (although it has been available from other retailers somehow), and that wider release means more freedom to make offers happen.

Re: Braid: Anniversary Edition Sales Have Been "Utterly Terrible", Says Creator

Moroboshi876

In my case it's because I was waiting for a physical release. An indie like this, one of the ones which started it all, deserved a physical edition day one.

Many indie developers complain when the sales don't go as they expected, the creator behind The Friends of Ringo Ishikawa specifically ranted about people not buying DLCs, but I want to believe that I'm not the only one who waits for a physical release or a complete edition with all the extra content, and don't want to pay digital when there is a physical down the line for latecomers to grab. Done it many times already, I wanna be a latecomer now, if they don't release things physically day one.

Re: Review: Nintendo World Championships: NES Edition (Switch) - Speed-Focused And Slight, But Addictive

Moroboshi876

I was afraid this would be down to it: just speed challenges. I love NES Remix, where the speedrunning was a big factor, but there were tweaks and unlockable things there that made it worth it to me.

The focus on online competition is what troubles me the most. I suck at it, and it looks like the challenges will be temporary, so a guy like me, who tend to play games when I have the chance and not when they're trending, won't enjoy it 100% I guess.

I pre-ordered the physical edition (why preorder digital stuff?) out of pure FOMO, but started to regret it a little after suspecting it would be no NES Remix.

Anyway, I guess after selling out it will be easy to find it a new home if I want.

Re: Hands On: Nintendo World Championships: NES Edition - All The Trappings Of A Game Night Great

Moroboshi876

I'm not a fan of speedrunning because I suck at it, let's be honest. But I really liked NES Remix, despite having a strong speedrunning flavour, and yet the tweaking of some of the stages and games was the best part for me.

Now it's gone, as I was afraid, so I guess I preordered the physical edition out of pure FOMO. I hate knowing beforehand that I'm never going to be anywhere near the top of the online leaderboards.

Re: Donkey Kong Country Returns HD Costs $60 On Switch

Moroboshi876

They do it because they can, and their games sell well.

What troubles me is why they commemorated the 40th anniversary of the game that helped them survive as a video game company by releasing a remake and a remaster, and a few years after the actual anniversary.

It was time for a new platforming DK. This is the third time they release DKC Returns.

Re: Review: Rocket Knight Adventures: Re-Sparked (Switch) - A Sparkling Return For One Of The 1990s' Best Platformers

Moroboshi876

After years of seeing that the law of supply and demand doesn't apply to Rocket Knight Adventures, because there are tons of it on second hand market yet the prices keep going up, I'm glad to see that the entire classic series collected turned out good. Now if only someone released it physically in Europe (thus avoiding LRG like in many other cases) I'd have the next most anticipated retro release.

Re: Nintendo Celebrates Paper Mario: TTYD Release With "Retro" GameCube Cover

Moroboshi876

Sonic Mania Plus came with a reversible alternate Mega Drive style cover. Wonder Boy: The Dragon's Trap came with a reversible alternate Master System style cover.

What did those games have in common? Budget price since day one. Not like this remake/remaster, whatever you wanna call it, at full price.

But of course, let's keep in mind that Nintendo, a small struggling company, did it this way because the alternative would have been costly.

Re: Sunsoft Announces 'Retro Game Selection' For Switch, English Release Planned

Moroboshi876

This is the kind of collection I love: completely unknown (to me) old games with extras. Really.

To people asking for more renowned Sunsoft games, well, there are 2 Evercade cartridges available (one of them actually later this month), but license-based games like Batman are obviously out of the question.

English version is good news, but I wish there is a physical release at least in Japan. If that comes too we can be sure it will be a limited run, if you know what I mean.

Re: Nintendo Direct: Partner Showcase February 2024 - Time, Where To Watch, What To Expect

Moroboshi876

Dragon Quest III 2D-HD release date. Long overdue. Not even an AAA game, but they announced several Directs ago, and still no date on the horizon.

Apart from that, I don't expect any big reveals in what seems to be the last Switch year as the only Nintendo console. Which is OK, understandable and doesn't mean there are no good releases coming, just not a new Mario, a new Zelda or even Metroid Prime 4.

Re: Shadow Of The Ninja Remake Locks In 'Summer 2024' Switch Release

Moroboshi876

After all three previous games were released widely on normal stores, I expect this to be easy and cheap to grab too.

But will they include the NES original this time? With Ninja Saviours, Wild Guns and Pocky & Rocky Re-Shrined it didn't make much sense (well, in Pocky & Rocky's case maybe it did, because of the different levels), but this time it's a remake of an 8 bit game and the difference is much more appreciable, so it would be very interesting. I wish they include the original.

Re: Konami Is Bringing Back Rocket Knight Adventures And Felix The Cat

Moroboshi876

Been trying to grab a copy of Rocket Knight for Mega Drive for a long time, but it's in the three figures now. A personal little Holy Grail.

Very disappointed to not see it in the Mega Drive Mini 2 after the first one got Konami licenses. A retro collection will have to scratch the itch, and it comes with the other games in the series, although being a LRG release it's going to be digital unfortunately.

Re: Review: Irem Collection Volume 1 (Switch) - Three Great Games, But One Slim Package

Moroboshi876

Profiteering is the right word. Even with barebones presentation I would have loved a Collection of all five volumes into one, considering it's going to be 3 games per volume, but I guess this is how Strictly Limited Games wanted to milk us all.

By the way, as usual with SLG releases, these collections will be available on Amazon Japan in a much less limited way. And cheaper.

Re: Review: VISCO Collection - A Well-Presented Neo Geo Arcade Set With Online Play

Moroboshi876

I've been waiting for this release for a long time, can't understand why they have kept the date secret.

Anyway, when it comes to third-tier games that we don't have repeatedly anywhere else, I'm totally in. The only disappointment here is that it doesn't look like there's going to be a physical release, even from Pixel Heart themselves, who have released some otherwise digital-only games in the past.

Re: Double Dragon Advance, Super & Collection Announced For Switch

Moroboshi876

This time I'll have to go with the individual releases, which I salute for a change, because the collection severely overlaps with other releases such as the aforementioned Kunio-kun: The World Classics Collection.

I'll have to think about Super Double Dragon, because I have it on the Evercade (and that one is the better Japanese version surprisingly), but Double Dragon Advance is a no brainer: too expensive in its original format, this will be my first time with it.
