It will be my first time with this expensive game, and then I'll proceed with the rest of the entries, which I have because I could get them for reasonable prices
Looks exciting, but while I salute the fact that they're releasing it physically too (and that they're announcing it before launch, which is a whole different story), I can't understand why these indie games do have physical versions and other much more expected and by more important companies don't, such as Ghosts'n Goblins Resurrection.
@Specter_of-the_OLED There's a lot of Mega Man on Switch, the same as in its contemporary systems. I just said I don't have any of them in the Switch, but that's because I have my Mega Man games in the Xbox One.
@RupeeClock Thanks for the heads-up, but sadly this is the "Asian" edition, which is available only in Play-Asia, meaning pricier, more dangerous when it comes to custom taxes, et cetera. If it was available in Amazon Japan that would be great. I'll be playing Pirate's Curse and Half-Genie Hero, and if in the meantime there's a retail edition of Seven Sirens, great. If that doesn't happen, then obviously I'll have to buy it digitally. Thanks!
The update I want is a physical release available in normal stores. Doesn't even have to be like the previous game, which was released straight as a collector's edition. Just a standard one.
Glad to read this positive review. I put my money into this game a year ago on SLG and still wait for the "item shipped" confirmation, but now I see it'll be worth it.
I think it's fantastic that an abandoned project like this has been rescued and finally finished. Kudos.
Parts 1 and 3 will be included in the Renovation Collection on Evercade next year. Mega Drive versions. Too bad they skip Valis II, and for that I'll consider getting the Switch collection, if it ends up being released in normal stores at some point physically, like sometimes happens with LRG games.
I wish they released a collection of I-VII. Even if they have to do it in 2 parts. But VIII is too expensive on Switch due to the small number of copies and IX turned out to be a bad port apparently, so I guess the Switch won't be the system I'll play the series in.
@TryToBeHopeful @masterLEON You're right, but it was the only (or almost the only) exception. Hamster games or retro games in general are overlooked and rarely make the Top-put a number here digital sales ever.
Unfortunately I think poor sales of these games are the main reason for this mistake to have escaped the eyes of people. Because if it sold 20 digital copies, it's perfectly possible that none of the users has read the manual.
Would have been in some of all those digital best-sellers that are available in physical form too, the thing would be different.
They did take their time to confirm all of this. Well, I thought it'd be worse. Nice to see there are only a few themes missing. Anyway, not all in the cart, no buy from me. Portability isn't enough reason, so I'll stick to the originals on Xbox.
@RupeeClock Well, it remains to be seen, but I hope you're right and arrives to everyone even if it has to be digital.
Anyway, I understand your point about small companies, but many times super niche games have been released without any problem, like obscure visual novels, yet popular titles remain digital or have physical releases only by LRG-like companies.
@RupeeClock Well, I do prefer physical releases and lament how a lot of times they're limited. But I also meant I didn't count on a general release at all.
Not that they can't do whatever they want with their products, of course. If they want to limit their audience by honoring the backers, which is how it usually works, it's fine. I was just pointing out that the news piece is of little use, considering the target has been achieved and people outside it won't probably be able to get the game in any form.
But I guess the only way to obtain it on Switch will be having backed it on Kickstarter, right? Otherwise I'll wait for a normal release on standard stores.
This Ratalaika people is really committed to bringing back some 16 bit classics, and at an amazing price at that. Been enjoying Gleylancer a lot. Don't think I'm getting this one, though, because I own it on Mega Drive, but I salute the release.
1. Additional games not being 100% the ones we already have available in collections and mini consoles. Musha is a good start here, but sadly the only exception.
2. Regular additions in all platforms, NES and SNES too, not 5 games now, 2 more in several months and then 3 more, and months of silence.
3. More platforms, of course. Game Boy (classic) is predictable. I wish PC Engine was another one.
Great, I already had many of the games in other collections, and having some beat'em ups twice on Switch really hurt. I'll be picking them up individually. They should have let us buy them 25% off too, though.
It would be great if they focused on console games which re-release had meaning and was helpful, like Japan-only extremely expensive Saturn titles, but please don't stop bringing us arcade titles, especially big ones such as Undercover Cops or Chase HQ, some examples of feasable games still to be ported.
I always thought, comparing NSO NES and SNES with the respective minis, that they shared almost all games because the license included both releases.
Mega Drive Mini was cheap enough, so I didn't think third-party games had been that expensive to justify Sega charging Nintendo so much now.
Anyway I think they shot at their feet, because NSO games were always a perk, not the main reason to subscribe. Double the price and many people will pay, but not as many as you thought.
A shame, but it looks like they're looking into it and we should get a patch at some point. Sadly this won't be updated in many reviews, and people will go home with the bad impression they're left with today. Wouldn't be the first time.
Would be great if this time around they DO include the original ROM as an unlockable, a missed opportunity in Toki. But I'd settle for a Mega Drive version, which is known as the superior one apart from the arcade original.
Nice, this game isn't included in all Namco Collections. In fact, it's been a decade since last time.
I'm glad they've released, as of now, 3 Namco games (out of 4) that weren't already on the Switch in their arcade version. Pac-man has been the exception, but it's totally understandable.
Strangely enough, this game got a 7 from Nintendo Life when it came out on Wii's Virtual Console. The Wikipedia reception section doesn't make us think it's an excellent game either, so maybe the reviewer rated it too high, but I'm going to buy it eventually. It's cheap, and will be cheaper at some point. And all shmups seem difficult to me anyway, so as long as I can advance a good chunk I won't feel my money is wasted.
I currently don't have a subscription, because it expired on October 3rd, and not knowing how one should upgrade an existing yearly subscription I didn't want to take any risk. But it's mid-October and they didn't explain squat.
Glad to see a Namco game that's not the typical we see in collections over and over, but this one seems to be one of the weakest, for what I've been reading.
Glad to see Namco in Arcade Archives too, but they're cutting the line here, with several games announced for months having to wait even longer now.
Of course it's going to be less appealing graphically on Switch, but I wonder what will happen with the soundtracks. I mean, real life songs use to be a license hell, and I get that, but Vice City (specially) without those masterpieces would be a bummer...

Re: Five Sega Genesis Games Have Been Added To Nintendo Switch Online's Expansion Pack
Great news! It felt weird that unlike N64 they didn't show any of the future additions of the Mega Drive app in the reveal.

Re: Introducing Sonic Frontiers, Arriving On Nintendo Switch Holiday 2022
Well, we know for sure that:
-Haters won't like it either
-Switch version will be, as usual, 30 fps.
I hope the game is good, though.

Nice! I don't have a single Mega Man game in my Switch, but it does look awesome.
Re: Nintendo Is Adding Paper Mario 64 To Switch Online's Expansion Pack, Out Next Week
One of the most interesting ones, considering the price of an original cartridge, even loose.
But... Only one addition? Is this going to be the new normal?

2. Regular additions in all platforms, NES and SNES too, not 5 games now, 2 more in several months and then 3 more, and months of silence.
