Huge news! This game is crazy expensive in its Mega Drive incarnation (which happens to be better than the arcade), but this will be the first time we see it legally emulated. And with a physical release at that! I hope it at least contains the original rom, though, not a remaster or a remake only, but judging from the pictures I don't know...
I feared this would happen. The hype was huge, even though the previous Cresta games aren't that good. And that's because the coverage of this game has been insane.
Would it be bad? I mean for a company to keep supporting its current system and not having a 4-5 year cycle. Would be nice for a change.
Having said that, I'm disappointed that Switch is not getting its own Mario Kart, nor a second main Mario entry (who knows, but after Odyssey turning 5 next month I would've expected at least a tease in the last Direct). And I begin to believe that BOTW2 will be a next system's launch title. It was initially said to be due for Christmas 2020, and the Direct should have confirmed its final release date, yet didn't. Something is smelly here.
@Gwynbleidd You totally misinterpreted me. I was sad for the game, thinking that the price cut was due to low sales, being a great title. It turns out that's not the case.
I think no digital game should cost as much as a physical copy of the same game, and in this case the physical copy could be found cheaper than that, so its digital price was, to me, ridiculously high. And that goes for Nintendo and its first-party games too.
I wouldn't say it's replayable. I don't count getting missing collectibles after beating the game "replayability". But wouldn't say it lasts 10 hours either, because you'll want to collect it all, and there's some backtracking too. Anyway, it's a great game that I enjoyed for the first time as part of Rare Replay on Xbox One in 2020. Absolutely recommended.
I guess the excellent new style - pixels toggle on Wonder Boy was a one time thing, sadly.
Anyway, still unclear about how it is a second part and not a Windjammers remastered, but of course I'm going to get it. Please anyone give it a proper physical release this time, not just stricly limited / limited run edition with all the bells and whistles and at least a standard version in order to keep it affordable given that it's ultimately an arcade title.
Glad to see the Reboot entry made the series popular enough for them to continue localizing games, new as this one or from its past like Cotton 100% and Panorama Cotton recently.
By the way, Cotton Fantasy will be available in non limited stores at least in Europe.
No, I'm not. I guess this is going to be the first title of a new Neogeo Pocket Color selection, especially with the first one being called vol. 1.
But this time they should announce their intentions, I'm sure a lot of people who had picked the standalone digital games was pissed when the first collection was announced.
@NicolausCamp I know. I meant a normal distribution for everyone to get, Cotton Reboot got one even though nobody asked for that game. It's certainly weird that they didn't do the same with this one, considering the franchise had been recently unearthed.
Good thing this time they said it before launch. I got my Astro City Mini from Japan.
Now let's hope it's not SLG who releases it in Europe, this way there's a chance it ends up on Amazon.
If not, I'll get it from Amazon Japan, which makes you pay customs in advance anyway, so you can forget about bad news when it arrives to your country.
I think it's good they made it a separate item rather than an expansion of the original one, which would have been the classic kick in the nuts to early adopters. Having said that, I'm not a fan of these games and if I had to buy it I'd wait for a certain future price drop, no rush here.
It will be my first time with this expensive game, and then I'll proceed with the rest of the entries, which I have because I could get them for reasonable prices
Looks exciting, but while I salute the fact that they're releasing it physically too (and that they're announcing it before launch, which is a whole different story), I can't understand why these indie games do have physical versions and other much more expected and by more important companies don't, such as Ghosts'n Goblins Resurrection.
@Specter_of-the_OLED There's a lot of Mega Man on Switch, the same as in its contemporary systems. I just said I don't have any of them in the Switch, but that's because I have my Mega Man games in the Xbox One.
@RupeeClock Thanks for the heads-up, but sadly this is the "Asian" edition, which is available only in Play-Asia, meaning pricier, more dangerous when it comes to custom taxes, et cetera. If it was available in Amazon Japan that would be great. I'll be playing Pirate's Curse and Half-Genie Hero, and if in the meantime there's a retail edition of Seven Sirens, great. If that doesn't happen, then obviously I'll have to buy it digitally. Thanks!
The update I want is a physical release available in normal stores. Doesn't even have to be like the previous game, which was released straight as a collector's edition. Just a standard one.
Glad to read this positive review. I put my money into this game a year ago on SLG and still wait for the "item shipped" confirmation, but now I see it'll be worth it.
I think it's fantastic that an abandoned project like this has been rescued and finally finished. Kudos.
Parts 1 and 3 will be included in the Renovation Collection on Evercade next year. Mega Drive versions. Too bad they skip Valis II, and for that I'll consider getting the Switch collection, if it ends up being released in normal stores at some point physically, like sometimes happens with LRG games.
I wish they released a collection of I-VII. Even if they have to do it in 2 parts. But VIII is too expensive on Switch due to the small number of copies and IX turned out to be a bad port apparently, so I guess the Switch won't be the system I'll play the series in.
@TryToBeHopeful @masterLEON You're right, but it was the only (or almost the only) exception. Hamster games or retro games in general are overlooked and rarely make the Top-put a number here digital sales ever.

Re: Double Fine's Grim Fandango Remaster Is Getting A Physical Release On Switch
Way too late. Certainly you can't buy any game from the eShop without fearing that one day it might be released physically
Re: PC Engine Classic 'Moto Roader MC' Is Getting Resurrected On Switch
Not my cup of tea, but I'm glad Ratalaika keeps rereleasing random classic games and they're not shmups only. Keep them coming!
And yes, the first Moto Racer is on the awesome PC Engine Mini.
Re: Don't Worry, The Klonoa Collection Is Getting A Physical Release On Switch
Good news, and it's sad it has to be confirmed, but that's the product of our times...
I think I'll get it on Xbox, though. I don't have that many platform games there and it's probably going to be on offer sooner than on Switch.
Re: Review: Sol Cresta - PlatinumGames' Intriguing Shmup Doesn't Do Enough To Stand Out
I feared this would happen. The hype was huge, even though the previous Cresta games aren't that good. And that's because the coverage of this game has been insane.
Re: The Award-Winning 'Never Alone' Is Coming To Switch, Sequel In Development
@Abes3 You're not alone. I played it on Xbox One and thought it fell short on the technical side of things, controls included.

Don't tell me. First-party games are going to be up to 30% off.
Re: French Retailer Lists Batman: Arkham Collection For Switch
Already have them on the Xboxes, but great to see them coming to the Switch.
Re: Cruis'n Blast Gets A Permanent Price Cut On The Switch eShop, Now Only $19.99

Re: Cruis'n Blast Gets A Permanent Price Cut On The Switch eShop, Now Only $19.99
Glad to read it's not for the usual reason! It's a great game. Still unknown or unplayed among gamers around me, though, despite my recommendation.
Re: Cruis'n Blast Gets A Permanent Price Cut On The Switch eShop, Now Only $19.99
It's sad that this game has had to be permanently reduced, which means that has performed terribly. Many people doesn't even know about it...
Re: Talking Point: Nintendo's Mastery Of Physical Game Sales Hides Limited Digital Growth
This must be a joke. They are doing their best to make people go digital!

Re: LRG Reveals 'River City Girls Zero' Physical Switch Release, Pre-Orders Begin January 28th
Looks awesome, but I'll settle for a standard edition in normal non limited stores. That would be great.
Re: Netflix's 'The Cuphead Show' Gets Debut Trailer, Streaming Begins Next Month
Would have loved a 30s cartoon style though...
Re: Pocky & Rocky Reshrined Finally Gets A Release Date On Nintendo Switch
Still unsure about what's it going to be. A remaster or a real new entry?

Re: Cotton Guardian Force Saturn Tribute Is Getting An Update To "Improve Input Delay"
Now release it in the West physically
Re: Lego Officially Reveals Its Sonic The Hedgehog - Green Hill Zone Set, Available On 1st January 2022
More expensive than Lego Super Mario without the sounds and all that stuff.

Re: Surprise! Dragon Ball FighterZ Is Adding Another DLC Character
But will it be part of a fourth pass or what? The article doesn't mention how to obtain it.

Re: Five Sega Genesis Games Have Been Added To Nintendo Switch Online's Expansion Pack
Great news! It felt weird that unlike N64 they didn't show any of the future additions of the Mega Drive app in the reveal.
Re: River City Girls 2 Gets Awesome New Trailer Ahead Of Summer Release
Early 2022 became next Summer then? Oh...
Re: Review: Paper Mario - A Well-Crafted Creation That Stands Up Beautifully

Re: Introducing Sonic Frontiers, Arriving On Nintendo Switch Holiday 2022
Well, we know for sure that:
-Haters won't like it either
-Switch version will be, as usual, 30 fps.
I hope the game is good, though.

Re: Hori's Next Split Pad Pro For Switch Is Mega Man-Themed
Nice! I don't have a single Mega Man game in my Switch, but it does look awesome.
Re: Nintendo Is Adding Paper Mario 64 To Switch Online's Expansion Pack, Out Next Week
One of the most interesting ones, considering the price of an original cartridge, even loose.
But... Only one addition? Is this going to be the new normal?

Re: Review: Toaplan Arcade Garage - Two Historic Shmups Archived By Arcade Port Masters M2
I wish we knew if this is coming to the West physically before we pay for the more expensive option, and for the customs on top of that...
Re: River City Saga: Three Kingdoms For Switch Launches This December (Japan)
This time it would be great to have a localization AND a physical version. Not what happened with Kunio-kun The World Classics Collection.
Re: Pac-Man Museum+ Brings 14 Games In The Series To Switch
Really dig it. If only it appeared physically too...
Re: Nintendo's Enormous Cyber Switch Sale Is Now Live, More Than 1,000 Games Discounted
No Nintendo game beyond 33%? You don't say!
Re: New Windjammers 2 Trailer Showcases Two Characters And A Bunch Of Cool Moves
They're definitely taking their time, but I still see it more as a remake than a second part. Anyone else?

You can't stream from the Switch? A shame. It's a hard pass then.

@BooJoh Damn! LOL
Re: Random: Have You Noticed This Glaring Error In Arcade Archives VS. Super Mario Bros?
@Gwynbleidd Of course, this is what I meant: nobody reads it, but with poor sales that possibility is even smaller.
