You would think with October around there would be say the original Castlevania game as an option. Well hopefully they go on sale again like last year.
Meh, nothing for me this month. Which is good, because I have almost no coins left =/
I hope them acknowledging StarTropics is a sign of an impending Wii U VC release...
I recommend Wrecking Crew if you like Puzzle Platforms. Very challenging but fun.
And Donkey Kong ('94). Holy crap that game is amazing for being a GB title.... also puzzle platformer.
Ew.
Kirby's Dream course.....why art thou in the Wii U system Selection only?
Kid Icarus link has an extra H in the URL
Annnnd we're back to normal now, go figure.
Nothing for me. I'm holding over 1800 coins. I wish they would add some more physical stuff or have themes that you can get for coins.
In other news, the physical rewards section is limited to postcards and a Wiiware game everyone probably has by now.
I was mildly interested in Kersploosh! when it released, so maybe I'll pick that up.
@Warruz They would have to pay Konami for that. Anything that they own they don't lose anything by putting on.
@Pokefanmum82 I know they really need to put themes on there as those would be a great way to use my accumulated coins.
TBH, this is the first time in ages where I am interested in several options. Namely Kirby, Maboshi, Kerploosh and Star Tropics 2. And with 1,500 coins, I can pick them all up if I like.
Castlevania titles or zombies ate my neighborgs.....please who post this games :/
Nothing for me thank u guess i shall look forward to next month
At least only, like, five of them are repeats/ambassador games. Getting better, except for the two on the old Wii.
Still waiting for a decent reward like in the first few batches.
Back to square one I see...
Smh
Nothing of worth as always.
@unrandomsam Not sure how it works honestly. I know I got Fluidity from Club Nintendo Rewards, and I'm pretty sure that's not published by Nintendo or anything.
I always liked Wrecking Crew.....thinking about it......I should pass and wait though.....I'm sure something will come along soon that I'd be more interested in.
Think I'll pick up BA:Math for my 9 year old. He's really good in math but a little practice never hurt and the acting Theme part sounds interesting.
For those who like history and trivia the review for BA:Math
https://www.nintendolife.com/reviews/2009/04/brain_age_express_math_dsiware
was written on April 6, 2009 by Corbie so that's probably one of the last reviews Corbie wrote for VC-Reviews before merging w/ NL. Like I said, trivia.
I would say I'd get Kersploosh...but honestly, do you think I'm gonna have time for it now that I have Smash Bros. for 3DS?
Yeah...I didn't think so.
Kersploosh! is recommended, but it's so cheap I'd say just buy it. MaBoShi is another high rec from me. I'll be picking up Dream Course, w/ an eye on Star Tropics II.
So, anyone else just the tiniest bit disappointed?
@Nestalgic Yes me. I want physical rewards, how hard is that to ask for? Nintendo's been doing it for years, why did they stop all of a sudden?
sigh I waited all night for the rewards to change, hoping for Super Mario World or Super Metroid. I shoulda known better than to get my hopes up.
I am slightly interested in the Kirby game but I think I will wait and see if something better comes along next month but here's to hoping they put up a Metroid game next month.
@Warruz they only give out first party games for monthly updates. all of those games are nintendo ip's.
@DuggyFresh fluidity is published by nintendo. they own the ip.
Tempted to get Kirby DC, or Kid Icarus, though I'm close to Platinum (status), so why stop? Yeah, I know Club coins never decrease toward Gold/Platinum status, post purchase, Or at least, it didn't use to. Still, I'm hoping for a return of physical rewards(they require coin hording though, so spending on games is a no-no); they go good on eBay; & I sell for a reasonable price, that still gives me profit.
Well, I was waiting for these to pop up today but I am left feeling like I need to hear a little sad trombone after getting my hopes up for something being added that I am interested in.
I miss the physical rewards.
Indifference
Unngghh... I guess you can say that this months rewards are unique.
Wasn’t Kid Icarus just offered a month ago? I picked it up last time it was offered.
Their rewards have been garbage for a while now, just games no one wants to buy, and they do not even have physical stuff to trade the coins in for anymore.
Shame, Ninty just gets more and more disappointing.
Ah, great. Nothing again. I really wish they'd put some new physical rewards or something. I can't even remember the last time I used my coins.
Next Month:
Baseball. Pinball, Golf, Volleyball
But seriously, it's cheaper to just buy these games off the eShop. Think about it, you have to buy a $59.99 three times to get over 200 coins to buy these, or just pay $4.99 or $7.99. In the money it takes you to get 200 coins, you can get at least 22 games or at most 36 games.
@Dipper723 Well, I don't think anyone is going to buy games just to get these. If you paid $60 for 3 games, now you can get another game for free. This is icing on the cake. When looked at as cake, you are absolutely right.
You shouldn't be thinking about the coins you get when buying a game.
A lot of people are complaining, but I'm really excited. This is the best month I've seen in the past 6 or so.
There are 3 or 4 games I will be picking up (namely Startropics II, Kirby's Dream Course, Kersploosh, and maybe Mabooshi's Arcade.
A lot of these are very good (as you can see from the reviews they linked if you aren't familiar with these games) so it's silly to complain just because most of these aren't some really super well known game like Super Mario World.
Honestly, IMO, they're better off putting games like these up there anyways since most everyone already owns games like Super Mario World and then would complain about that. It also helps some of Nintendo's lesser games get more exposure.
Woot... More garbage. You'd think they'd listen to these common complaints but I guess that makes too much sense to NOA.
Finally something I'm interested in. Kirby's Dream Course locked in! Can't wait until the wife gets home to play!
Here's hoping Nintendo replenishes with some new physical rewards. If I want these games they can always be purchased. I appreciate some of the original physical items alot better.
So, would I have trouble playing Startropics II without having played the first? If not, this seems like a great chance to try out the series.
I have well over 700 coins, and nothing to spend them on...
Yet again good games that I already own.
Personally I would give up 500 or 600 coins if they gave me a game early. Like Ice Hockey on 3DS two months early or something.
I would instantly get the Donkey Kong game if I didn't already own it, that game is a ton of fun. I always wanted to get the Kirby Dream Course when I was growing up and now I finally have my chance. Thanks Club Nintendo!
cool
Kersploosh! for me, I've been wanting it for a while, might as well grab it now!
I think I'll go for Kirby's Dream Course, because I haven't played it yet and I want to collect more Kirby games. I only have Air Ride and Mass Attack, which is not a bad start, I guess...
1450 coins and have everything or don't want kersploosh or brain game math. What is this every month nothing. Then they don't really have any physical rewards either. What's the point anymore. Maybe I can buy an imaginary game with my 1450 coins. Yeah I'm complaining.
Definitely Kirby's Dream Course! It was my first Kirby game and a surprisingly great golf game. I'd rather have Wrecking Crew on the go, and already got Donkey Kong '94 last time it was offered.
@RR529 na you don't need to play the first.
@Capt_N this is most likely a reason they have slowed down physical rewards considerably.
Gotta get Donkey Kong. It's sequel is the greatest Mario game I've ever owned. Always wanted to try what made MvDK.
If you own a Wii U, could you still buy Normal wii content with your coins?
@sinalefa
All over Kirby!
Maboshi's is a pretty decent puzzler, though Star Tropics is considerably better than it's sequel.
And hey, here's a thought: instead of discounting a Castlevania game that everyone's likely tried of beaten, why not do something game changing for Halloween?
Like, I don't know, announce Fatal Frame V for North America and a release date for the movie?
I think Guillermo del Toro would be a fantastic director.
Or James Wan (who hasn't had a productive Halloween season in almost a decade now).
And yes, @MisterOrlando , you can definitely spend your coins on Wii content. You just need to use Wii mode to access the shop and the game.
Smash 64, Ocarina, Paper Mario and other great N64 VC is only accessible this way (as well as Turbographx, Arcade, NeoGeo, Genesis / MD, Wiiware, Wii disc games and lots of other content).
@SahashraLA thank you for your quick reply!
Kirby's Dream Course!!! I have never actually played this game, but I have been highly intrigued in it since I saw some footage in the 20th anniversary collection. Going to have to spend some of my coins on this.
I went with Kirby's Dream Course.
Already have better ways of playing it, but Club Nintendo redemptions on the Wii U count towards the deluxe digital promotion. That supposedly ends this year, so I want to try to score another $5 coupon or two before year's end. Who can say no to free money?
It's cheaper to buy the games with actual money? What logic is this?
I wish you guys would stop complaining, we don't get to buy games in Australia with our Club Nintendo points.
Also, it's likely Ninty has stopped physical rewards because 3/4 people just put them up on eBay.
Kersploosh! not being randomized really kills it for me. I'll take SpeedX 3D Hyper Edition any day.
Kirby's Dream Course! The first Kirby game I got to play as a kid.
already own all the ones worth getting.... which is why I have coins I wish they'd update the physical rewards. We only got 2... NOA Club Nintendo is so garbage.
I got the 3D classic Kid Icarus. The 3D Classics Kirby's Adventure was pretty good so I thought that Kid Icarus would be neat
I can't wait for the day at which there's no physical items even though all their branding suggests it. That will truly be a sad day indeed.
THIS DONKEY KONG GAME IS THE SXXT!!!!!
@faint, thanks! I'll probably pick it up, then.
Nothing for me this time. I hope next month's rewards are better.
I can't really take complaints that there are no good rewards this month too seriously when 6 out of the 8 games are above 8/10 and of those games, one is a SNES cult classic, another is an well-done reimagining of one of the best arcade games ever, one is a classic (but difficult) NES platformer starring a character who would later be in Smash Bros and another is a golf game starring a first party Nintendo character who isn't Mario. I'm probably not getting anything this month, because I haven't had enough coins in a while, but I'm not seeing the problem with selection here.
Even Wrecking Crew and Brain Age Express: Math are pretty fun, for the rather small asking price (you know, buying Nintendo games and getting more Nintendo games extra. Not quite free, but pretty close to free, since I was going to buy the games anyways). Wrecking Crew is a fun enough puzzle platformer with a catchy song in the background and BAE: Math is the best Sudoku game on DSiware and if I remember correctly, it comes with Dr. Mario, doesn't it? I had both of the DSiware Brain Age games free with the Dsi bundle I bought, but I couldn't transfer them to my 3DS because I never bought them, I guess.
@Dodger
they are bad though. So what if they got 8/10 or higher. We get coins by buying games, the games that are on these rewards. Most people would have bought the good games already such as myself meaning that it is just the garbage left. This is how I have my coins. I buy games, good games so when Nintendo goes and releases these, it is either already bought or nothing so what do we have to look to? The two physical rewards which is nothing but paper.
It never ceases to amaze me how much people seem to over look this fact. The 59% of 241 votes should also tell you something. In fact, over the last 4 months, people getting nothing has been more than 50% every time.
Another disappointing month. (-_-)
Got lots of coins just waiting to be spent. I wish they would put something on that's a little more high profile...I don't expect anything major...just not all shovel-ware. XL charging cradles again would be amazing too.
How cool would it be if you could purchase eshop funds or discounts for retail downloads? That would never happen but yeah...a guy can dream, right?
Jesus, I think my coins might actually expire. Oh well thanks again Nintendo of America for another disappointing month.
They should put some 3DS themes on the rewards list. Although what would $1 be equal to in stars? 25-50 wouldn't be bad.
Weeeeaaaak.
Hope my coins don't expire...
@ikki5 To say that you would prefer physical rewards is a fair complaint. They could do a better job with that. However, I still can't see this selection of games as bad. There are a couple that I already own, but there are plenty that I would actually like to have. Kersploosh looks like a fun score-based game in the vein of AiRace: Tunnel, a game I still enjoy. Kirby's Dream Course looks like an amusing twist on golf games. Startropics is a series I have heard about but never tried. Kid Icarus would be nice to try, especially if it has save points, simply to understand some of the stuff in Kid Icarus: Uprising, a game that I enjoyed. It seems unlikely that someone would already own all of these games and several seem worth a try. The coins last a year. It seems probable that in that year, a decent game that you haven't bought yet will be on Club Nintendo.
You seem to want a larger selection of physical rewards that they actually keep in stock. I can understand that. What confuses me a bit is when there are the same complaints about the game selection every month? There are plenty of months with incredible Mario and Zelda games, but on those months, people get upset because they already own those games. There are other months with a selection of slightly more obscure games, like Kersploosh and Startropics, which give you the opportunity to try something new. Ones like Pictobits, Mario's Picross and Gameboy Donkey Kong keep showing up because they are really good games that a lot of people haven't tried. I have seen a couple of genuinely terrible months, where your choices are between Solitaire and Brain Age or something like that, but they aren't that common.
Don't get me wrong, I don't actually expect people to not complain on the internet, and I've done my fair share of complaining about things. I'm just not sure that I am seeing the same collection of games, because I've found the selection to be rather impressive. I've certainly tried some good games that I wouldn't have otherwise, which I prefer to having Mario 64 and OoT every month.
@jjmesa16 That's a really good idea. I hope they do that. I expect they plan to, since they have the option to enter download codes.
And another month of holding onto my coins.
@Dodger
sigh.... as I said before. WHO CARES ABOUT THE SELECTION. Got it? It doesn't matter if the games are fun or popular or whatever, the selection means NOTHING. Why might you ask? The reason is simple, Club Nintendo operates based on a system where you buys games, register the code (or just download it if your account it tied to your system) and fill out the survey to get the coins. Now, to buy the games on club Nintendo you need to have coins. Popular/ well know games tend to sell well, especially if a lot of them have had special promotions (such as both of the Wii U ones) so when they become available on Club Nintendo, people already own them. This is why they have the coins they have so therefore it is like they are not even added because it is useless. This is a problem and I don't know why you keep bringing up the selection because guess what, it doesn't matter. They could add Zelda, Megaman, Earthbound, Street Fighter,Super Metroid, etc and it won't matter to the majority of Club Nintendo users because the vast majority (probably 60-70% or more) already have them. If you don't have them then good for you, you are part of the minority. This is the main reason why people are complaining. Yes you get the few who want different games, there is always going to be that bunch but overall, if you look at the comments from people, you see that they already own the games available while the physical awards, that you just can go and buy for a few dollars, wither away and die. This is the problem, not really the selection, but the concept of the whole thing. The whole NOA club Nintendo going to digital downloads making it so the coins to get, just expire because you bought the games already to get those coins.
I hate to bring up this point about the European one because they just argue that it is too expensive but the points cards, pretty much allowing you to add currency to your shop for current or later use of something being added (though I know the Wii shop and DSi shop are do not have stuff be added, they did when they were first being offered) instead of the most likely games you already have or the games no one would every buy. But then on top of that, they actually have physical rewards, some very worth while getting as well while NOA is selected games (like most people already have like I said above) and greeting cards.
Yay, Kirby's Dream Course pour moi. And I wonder if I should pick up Kersploosh...
@ikki5 I still disagree. I already listed several games that I wouldn't have tried if they hadn't been available on Club Nintendo, and that barely scratches the surface. I buy the games that I really want, through download and through retail, but Club Nintendo gives you a chance to try a game that you hadn't thought about getting before, or that isn't worth money to you. In my experience, having to spend cash on something makes me a lot more likely to decide that I don't really want it after all. Spending virtual currency given to me as a reward for buying the games that I wanted enough to spend cash is a lot easier.
Most people who pay attention to the Eshop do own Zelda, Metroid, Street Fighter, Earthbound, Etc. I'm happy with the service because I've used it to try games like Pilotwings, Xevious, Art Style: Pictobits, Art Style: Rotazoa, Mario's Picross, Mario Party 2, Mario Tennis, Sakura Samurai, Etc. Smaller games that may have a trophy in Smash Bros, but would be unlikely to get a stage or assist trophy.
@Dodger well, if you don't already have the games/ games that you'd want, then great, you are part of the minority and it works well for you and you can spend your virtual currency on them (even though you need 4-5 games Wii U games or 5-6 3DS games to get the coins to get one of these). Sadly that is not the case for a lot of people and these polls and comment sections are very good evidence for that. A lot of people are looking at expiring coins at the end of this year such as myself.
I feel like there should be a way to trade coins for eShop credit, even if that credit can only be used on certain games. Actually, if the eShop is connected to Club Nintendo, perhaps your coin balance could show up in the eShop as you're browsing. Then, specifically on Nintendo products, there could be an option to use Club Nintendo coins/stars/whatever to pay for a game either in full or in part. Not sure that grammar makes sense, but I think you know what I mean.
Also, I agree with "Themes for Coins." It's such a no-brainer. I'm surprised Nintendo dropped the ball on that one. There's not even an exclusive Club Nintendo theme or anything. Poosville.
Great selection... BUT............. VERY EXPENSIVE POINTS!!! 200!! 250!! for games of 3 to 5 dlls. No Thanks.
I think its time to get Kerploosh
STAR TROPICS! STAR TROPICS! STAR TROPICS!
Wii U, please!
jeez louise
where are the physical rewards? i want me another 3ds game case dagnabbit
@ikki5 Would you kindly stop moaning about how your free reward options aren't fulfilling all of your dreams?
You can't truly think that the majority of Club Nintendo users have all of the games that they would want that Club Nintendo offers? That's silly. I call your bluff, how many of the games available this month do you have?
Sure the option of physical rewards would be nice, but downloadable rewards are advantageous as they can provide rewards of higher value at a lower cost. Disappointment at the shift of rewards is okay. But it's exceedingly frustrating every month to see comment after comment of people complaining about Club Nintendo and NoA because the free gifts they get aren't what they wanted.
For those of you who are worried about expiring hordes of coins you could just buy the games and gift then to your friends. If you want to buy me the games you don't want I won't complain
I've missed Mario RPG and Mario Paper 64 club offers. They're now punishing me... its all my fault guys
They changed right when I was going to get Kirby Super Star from the last batch
Wow. A smattering of things I don't want and things I already have. Oh well, I'll keep my coins handy for any cool future things that may crop up. I'm still sore I didn't get the gold nunchuck. Maybe they'll bring 3DS themes and New 3DS faceplates to the rewards catalog. That would be pretty sweet, and then I will be glad I didn't invest more into VC games for Wii U that I already have for Wii and could theoretically get for a buck or two.
this must be the 666th time donkey kong GB got put on club nintendo!! ENOUGH ALREADY
@xj0462 lol I was just about to comment on that. This is also the 20th time we have seen Kid Icarus and Brain Age. Why do they not give us the games that we would never pay money for: Donkey Kong 3 and Twinbee?
@Obito_Tennyson or other games, like mach rider, ice climber, mega man, 3D space harrier, or pac man?
I saw StarTropics and got excited lol. I'll never forget this series ever. Oh how I wish Nintendo would reintroduce the world to it in a new way... Mike Jones in SSB woulda been nice
