Today has brought us the usual North American Nintendo Download Update details, which delivered a fairly handsome line-up, and the big N has also outlined a range of Virtual Console titles that'll be haunting our systems up to Halloween — in most cases, anyway.
Below are the four titles that are confirmed to be on the way to the Wii U and 3DS in the next two weeks, including one that was pushed back from a planned release today.
- Castlevania: Aria of Sorrow — Wii U Virtual Console — 23rd October
- Kirby: Nightmare in Dream Land — Wii U Virtual Console — 30th October
- Demon's Crest — Wii U Virtual Console — 30th October
- Gargoyle's Quest II: The Demon Darkness — Wii U and 3DS Virtual Console — 30th October
The third part of Konami's Castlevania has been pushed back a week, but logically means the region will have had one entry over three consecutive weeks. Game Boy Advance release Kirby: Nightmare in Dream Land is actually an expanded remake of NES title Kirby's Adventure. Demon's Quest is a spin-off in the Ghosts 'n Goblins series while Gargoyle's Quest II is a prequel to the Game Boy original, in which you play as Firebrand.

I was actually thinking they were going to release Kirby: NIDL for Halloween just last week.
All four of those will be mine. Now I can finally stop complaining about Nightmare In Dream Land and the Gargoyle's Quest games.

Definitely Kirby. I love Kirby's Adventure, and I've heard Nightmare in Dreamland was a really good remake. I'm excited to get to play it!

At least this gives me already, in a single blunt strike, the disappointment of not getting DKC for the rest of the month.
@CaptMcCloudAran The more time passes I am afraid that GC might never get to VC. If even Sony has problems emulating large chunk of the PS2 library on PS3 and even abandoned the emulation with PS4, it might mean that very powerful CPUs are needed to emulate the 6th generation of consoles.

@ghasfarost @CaptMcCloudAran Well, it's been twenty months since Nintendo announced N64 games and we haven't seen those yet. And they announced DS games on VC several months ago and we haven't heard anything about those. Seeing as how Nintendo doesn't even keep up with their ANNOUNCED Virtual Consoles, a GameCube Virtual Console seems to be fantasy at this point. A shame, because GC has some of my all time favorite games.

Going to get GC2, I really enjoyed the first one, it's just too bad that there are not another other games for sale for the 3DS.

Those demon crest games are awesome. Great line up I was hoping for DK, but I'm binging on Castlevania right now.So all is tranquil with me for the the month demon crests and Castlevanias. Who could ask for anything more.

Don't worry. I know of those other games. But I'm just not interested. I'm waiting on about 7 or 8 games to release in NoA that are released elsewhere. Not having much luck.

Ehh, for Halloween scares they aren't all that. I purchased Alien Isolation for my Halloween scares. Turning off the lights and playing that one alone.
Does anybody have any idea why so much of the VC stuff comes to Wii U but not 3DS? Like, the 3DS is clearly more than powerful enough to handle these games, and there are some absolute classics out there (eg Earthbound) that I am desperate to get my hands on and would pay good money for on the 3DS.
I really don't understand the logic behind not just blanket porting all VC titles to both consoles.
