It'd be awfully bitter to complain about Atlus providing deals on its 3DS eShop lineup, but the frequency has gotten to a point where it might be more efficient to tell you when their games are not on sale.
A couple of these discounts were noted in last week's Nintendo Download for North America, but here's the full lineup from Atlus:
- Shin Megami Tensei IV--$19.99 (was $49.99)
- Shin Megami Tensei: Devil Survivor Overclocked--$14.99 (was $29.99)
- Shin Megami Tensei: Devil Summoner: Soul Hackers--$14.99 (was $29.99)
- Conception II: Children of the Seven Stars--$24.99 (was $39.99)
- Etrian Odyssey Untold: The Millennium Girl--$14.99 (was $39.99)
- Etrian Odyssey IV: Legends of the Titan--$14.99 (was $29.99)
- Code of Princess--$14.99 (was $29.99)
These current deals end 3rd November. There won't be much surprise if they come back, of course, but there's always the chance that a next time doesn't come.

Already got SMTIV at full price. Dece game, at least to me.
Still waiting for Citizens of Earth.
Hmm.
Might pick up one of these, what's the best one?
Yeah, I was just gonna say.
@ReshiramZekrom ↓ It would surprise me if they sold.
Do Atlus-published games not sell? Is that why they're always on sale?
Damn it! I wanna download Conception II but I want it physically. All these discounts are just teasing me!
Etrian Odyssey IV is way up on my to-get list, but I'll try to order it full-price from ATLUS themselves, instead.
These are all some of the best games available on 3DS
They should sell great.
Big question is, why Atlus suck so bad with price drop like that in EU. I think that's probably because here are dragons all around and medieval times with itnerwebs sold in buckets
I have missed like 5 sales for the EO games. As with Trine 2, they always go back on sale.
I also find crazy that SMTIV is still $50, and the eShop version, no less.
You're making me wanna get the Etrian oddsey series do ya Atlus? Never got around to buying it yet but I need to in some way...
@potatomage7 Depends on the type of game you want. My personal favorites are EO4 and Overclocked. EO4 is a dungeon crawler old school rpg where as the other is more like Fire Emblem strategy. Also SMT IV is excellent as is Untold. You can't go wrong with any of this 4. Also EO IV and Untold have demos in the Eshop and it's the first 5 to 8 hours of the game and if you buy the full versions all data transfers over.
@Dave24 Atlus hasn't as of yet released any games to EU. SMT IV will be the first, everyone else on that list if available was brought over by other companies.
EO4, I might buy it this time. Got Untold : The Millennium Girl during the last sale.
And yes @Captain_Toad, they're trying their best to make everyone want these games.
Watch when I finally get a 3DS, Atlus doesn't do theses deals anymore.
Pretty soon they'll be $5 sales.
@JarredBuzzo Yeah, I know. Too bad, I'm broke for now! >_<
Etrian Odyssey Untold for $15?! A-And Soul Hackers and Devil Survivor, too?!
Deciding to save money was a horrible idea!
@StaticWind I'm starting to doubt my strategy of holding off on those eShop cards to save cash...
Oh I missed it, what time did the sun rise?
To be honest, Atlus not having a sale would be like a Nintendo system update that doesn't provide more system stability.
News Item: The only thing NoA ever puts on sale is on sale again.
Yeah... I might get EO IV this time. Atlus knows how to get the attention upon these titles.
@Prof_Clayton I'll buy all the EO titles, SMT, and probably CoP for that price.
Conception 2 nears my price buy 19.99. Maybe next sale will agree to me. Log the Atlus sales just an excellent bunch of games at great prices. I love yo aAtlus!
Still need devil survivor and EOIV. Yet I still have Amiibo to pay for...
why can't nintendo make sales at least like these.....
@DualWielding
Beats me, I don't see much "devaluing" going on here.
At this point I doubt anyone would actually go and buy any of these games for full price. They basically go on sale every other week...
All these games are fantastic... ESPECIALLY the SMT games and EO. If you haven't played any of those, do yourselves a favor and jump in.. SMTIV will blow your minds if you want a great portable JRPG.
SMTIV for 20??
And I don't have a 3DS yet....
I loved etrian odyssey 4, might have to pickup Millennium Girl...
Also, question- I have been interested in the SMT series for a while now, yet I haven't played it at all. I was considering emulating the SFC game, but also starting with one of the 3ds titles. Where do you guys think would be a good place to start? Thanks in advance!
@flummerfelt The first two are connected somewhat I think, but for the most part they're standalone. I've heard that IV isn't as brutal. If you have a PS3, I'd say try SMT3: Nocturne. If you can handle that then you could probably handle any of them.
@flummerfelt There are so many spin-offs that it's a little too much to go into for an article comment, but there's 4 main series games, with SMT IV on 3DS being the latest. The one before that was Nocturne on PS2, so the main series is spaced pretty far apart. All the stories are self-contained like Final Fantasy though, so you don't need to play one to play another. They're challenging dungeon crawler games.
Devil Survivor: Overclocked is the newest SMT spin-off. It's a tactical RPG game set in modern day Japan. It's pretty good too. It's probably the best non-Fire Emblem tactical RPG on the 3DS.
The biggest and most unique spin-off is the Persona series, which has its own fanbase and is probably even bigger and more popular than the main series. Those are Sony exclusives, but if you have access to them, I highly recommend Persona 3 and 4.
Someday I'm going to have fifteen dollars to blow on Overclocked when it goes on sale... someday.
Trine 2, a game that's always on sale too.
Wow those prices!
I already have the extremely amazing Devil Survivor Overclocked, which is my favourite SMT game.
I am so inclined to buy EOIV and SMTIV!
EOIV is the best game on the 3DS for me, and I've played like 20 or 30 3ds games so far, one of the best games for the money (40$ for me, but 15$ is EVEN better!)
EOU is great, but not as good as EOIV
SMTIV is also VERY good, I highly recommend it.
Of course, I'm an RPG Maniac, so I'm mad into rpgs
FEA and RF4 are my other favorite rpgs (BDefault is okay imo)
Hmm, Conception II is great if you are into anime and can handle a little bit of fanservice, and Soul Hackers is nice, but I haven't finished the game yet
EOIV > FEA > RF4 > EOU > SMTIV > CII = BD > SH
Actually already have CoP but haven't started (code of princess)
Subjective, no hate fire pls
@Dave24 Simple reason. All the but Conception II and SMTIV are not published by Atlus in Europe. NISA do all but Code of Princess on that list and they generally don't care (asked on their Facebook page they forgot that they even published EOIV). Code of Princess is published by the Japanese developer (they tried to find a European publisher but nobody wanted to bother) and went on sale a few weeks ago.
The be really fair to Atlus using the NOE $=€ currency conversion SMTIV will launch at the same price as this sale. If only they had permanently dropped Conception II to €25 (they dropped it €30 instead btw it is only sale now for €20)...
So that brings us to why do Atlus games go on sale on the US eShop like clockwork? I hear the US eShop is a pain to navigate so being on the sales page makes it more visible.
How is this news?
@NTELLIGENTMAN Well, they can report on the changes in on-sale prices.
Are there even any?
@Zexaal
SMT II is a direct sequel to SMT I, so it's better to play these in order. They're also MUCH easier than Nocturne, SJ and IV. Seriously some of the easiest JRPG's ever made.
I already have Etrian Odyssey Untold: The Millennium Girl..... GREAT game..... but.... Code of Princess is teasing me to buy it!!
If anyone likes carts more than digital, Etrian Odyssey Untold is on sale on play-asia.com. $21.99 but hey, I'd buy that instead of digital.
This is exactly why I won't be buying Persona Q for $50 when it comes out. If I wait a couple months it'll be $20 on eShop.
@Starwolf_UK I should've been more clear about it I think, so my bad. I meant Atlus games, because that's what it is. Rarely they are on sale in EU and if they are, it's barely noticable.
Also, your math is pretty bad. 19,99 bucks in US vs 25 bucks EU price (that's the price in exchange euro to usd), so yeah, the price is higher. And with that sale and EU price I have a difference of 30% (if I had actually euro as currency, it would be 25%, so I get screwed little more). Delays from them are even more annoying, but I hope it will be better from now.
@Dave24 For the ones Atlus USA is in direct control in (I think they are a publisher of last resort when it comes to Europe as there are no physical versions) remember that US$ prices have 0% sales tax (as it varies from state to state) while European prices have 20% sales tax factored in (yes it varies from state to state in Europe but not as drastically as it does in the US). So factor in the US prices as having 20% sales tax (so $20 becomes $24) and yes the € prices are still higher, that is true (but not by 25%; €1.26 using today's rate). Still, I think the NOE currency conversion is a tad conservative here, especially for the £ as it is still treated as being worth €1.1 making SMTIV £18 (when $24 is close to £15 and €20 close to £16), I feel bad for people with NNID linked when looking at that.
That aside, I wished NISA (and the others) would care every now and then. NISA could do with some goodwill after increasing the prices of limited editions in Europe by around 70% (they opened an EU store, locked out their US store to EU customers and the EU store uses $=£ and charges a lot for shipping) and an eShop sale would be an easy way to do that.
The only two Atlus games I don't have on my 3DS is EOIV and Conception.... I will be picking up EOIV.
Still not sure about Conception. The dating sim part is just weird. Bring on Persona Q!!
