Ubisoft has announced today that it is launching two new entries in its long-running Petz franchise. Petz Beach and Petz Countryside will launch on the Nintendo 3DS this month, and will allow players to look after 50 different animal types.
The two games will feature connectivity with one another, and will also utilise the 3DS' StreetPass functionality to allow players to exchange items with one another. Both will also make use of the console's facial recognition tech to create a more "unique" bonding experience with each pet.
Interestingly, Ubisoft is distributing the games exclusively via Amazon in the UK, with both titles launching on October 17th. The Petz series has sold over 23 million units across multiple formats.

Woohoo! Thanks a lot, Ubisoft! That's what we've been waiting for! /sarcasm
Because who needs Assassin's Creed? facepalm
@Mega719 LMAO!
Yeah, I've definitely learned my lesson from Ubisoft games! That's why THIS time, I'll definitely be waiting for the Game of the Year edition.
And I sure hope this runs at a steady 30FPS for that true cinematic feel.
We don't want this. We want Just Dance! You said it yourselves!
Knowing them they'll probably delay it or take out some content
In a few months I would love to see sales comparisons between this games and the Assasins Creed games. It would be quite interesting to know which sold more in the few months.
I would bet that Ubi won't be complaining if this doesn't sell many copies, even though they whine about there other games not selling on Nintendo systems.
oh cuz this sure will sell tons of copies you know.... they always worrying about bringing stuff to nintendo and not selling copies oh wait i think it just got delayed they going to make sure any bugs are fixed cuz ubisoft knows how to deliver a good game that fans want right?
This is quite tempting to own
You guys do realize that the target audience for these games are kids right. My daghter wants these games and I kind of want the Beach one for myself since I wasn't able to get the Nintendogs + Cats 3DS games.
They're just taking the p*** at this point
This just reminded me how much I miss playing the Catz games back in the Windows 95 days.
So this is what Nintendo fans have been reduced to, Tetris, pet Sims, and Just Dance???? Thanks but no thanks, UBISoft is now dead to me!
nothing more adorable than a tiny, cute, and fuzzy middle finger ^^
If anyone is keeping Nintendo "casual" it's Ubisoft. They need only blame themselves.
Thankz!
I know you want my $$$, but since this is Petz, then I will give you my ZZZ
And wake me up when Bayonetta 2 releases.
They should make a Kinect title. Surely families that buy these games also own a microsoft or sony system. share the wealth.
And coming in 2015… Petz Cemetery. Become a funeral director of your very own pet cemetery! Perform FUN autopsies, console OUTRAGEOUS grieving pet owners and BERATE negligent pet owners for feeding their goldfish pellets that were actually miniature sticks of dynamite.
Perhaps Watch_Dogs will have a better chance of selling on the Wii U if they retooled the concept to better resonate with the more "casual" user base of the Wii U by branding it as a "petz" title…
Watch_Dogz.
Damn guy's i don't know why you hate this, remember we don't like mature games. We like stuff like this.
GET ON THE HYPE TRAIN EVERYONE!
/s
<sarcasm> Ubisoft supports Nintendo..see, see! </ sarcasm>
Next they'll create the ultimate shovelware crossover... Imagine: Petz
Heh. Perfect news for a site full of dedicated gamers.
That Golden puppy is actually cute tho. AWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWW.
Ubi, you refuse to bring us AC, but instead this garbage?

We want more hardcore games for Wii U f.e (for example) Destiny and no garbadge casual games like this. With such games, the Wii U will fall sales. Nintendo, give more support to 3rd party developers if you want to boost Wii U sales
@Ilias To each their own, I suppose, but hardcore and casual are such subjective ideas. I really could not care less about playing Destiny, so I'm indifferent to it coming to the U.
Yeah, there's a market for Petz, just like there is for Just Dance. But I have a Destiny-level care for those, too. I think the odd thing is the way Ubisoft has decided what works and what doesn't on Nintendo's systems. Who knows; maybe these are so cheap to make that they do indeed make money. shrug
snore
I misread Ubisoft and only paid attention to the dog and got my hopes up for a new Nintendogs game. Bummmmmmeeeeerrrrr.
Oh my god, just what I wanted! I don't even want that dumb Assassin's creed game!
Ah, I can already see it now...
"We decided that we are going back on 3DS exclusivity and porting these new iterations to the PlayStation Portable to maximize availability. Additionally, the 3DS versions will not receive the long awaited Scuba Diving and Battleship DLCs, so we are very sorry. Please know that we will work as hard as we can to make the 3DS versions the best ones!"
@sillygostly 11/10. Will remember forever.
