Nintendo's Super Smash Bros. for Wii U Nintendo Direct delivered what it promised — 50 'Must-See Things'. In fairness to the 'New Things' wording deployed on multiple occasions by Nintendo of America, meanwhile, it wasn't far off that target either, even if that would require a little more slack and an absence of cynicism. In any case it was a breathless 35 minutes in which the game's extravagant announcer rattled through a lot of features.
We covered what we considered to be the most important revelations in various news articles, but now it's time to give the full picture. Copying the Direct's format, below are the 54 Things (with another two not given numbers) in Super Smash Bros. for Wii U that were shown off, with some extra context and detail where necessary.
By all means say the headlines in the style of the Smash Bros. announcer, for extra effect.
1. Starting Fighter Line-up — Though the roster is (at least right now) the same between both the Wii U and 3DS versions, the home console iteration will have 40 fighters available right from the start; that's more than the 3DS entry. Others will still be unlocked, of course, while move-sets and controls will be the same in both games.
2. Resolution — In a humorous early segment the resolution difference between 3DS (400x240) and Wii U (1920x1080) was highlighted. The latter means 1080p, of course; we would add that, if we're going to be nitpicky and technical, Smash Bros. will likely (as per other major first-party Wii U games) be at a native 720p and upscaled to 1080p — that still looks lovely, of course, and we may be proven wrong. In any case, this section also introduced 5-Player Smash and 6-Player Smash, both making their first appearance.
3. 8-Player Smash — Rumoured beforehand, this was confirmed as an offline-only special mode. It looks suitably chaotic and will only support certain stages that are big enough to accommodate that many players. These eight players can connect with the following controllers:
- Wii U GamePad (Max 1)
- Wii Remote or Wii Remote Plus (Max 7 — including Classic Controllers and Nunchuks)
- Wii U Pro Controller (Max 7)
- Nintendo GameCube controller (Max 8 — with two adapters)
- Nintendo 3DS series system (Max 8 — each must be synced with a copy of the 3DS version)
4. Bigger Stages — Tying into 8-Player Smash but also a general trend in other stages, arenas will be bigger than on 3DS to suit the home console environment — the probability of them appearing in online matches will be "lower than normal", however. Examples shown included the following:
Palutena's Temple
Temple
Big Battlefield
5. Danger Zones — A new stage showing this feature, which looks like the most sprawling of them all, is The Great Cave Offensive, which is based on the labyrinth from Kirby Super Star. These 'Danger Zones' cause damage, and if you hit one when over 100% it's an instant KO.
6. Dual-Plane Battling - Shown in a Jungle Hijinx stage, this Donkey Kong arena has fighters using barrels to jump from the background to the foreground and vice-versa. Doing this too quickly causes damage, however.
7. Number of Stages — Put simply, there'll be more stages in the Wii U version than on 3DS. The following were rattled through when showing Wii U stages:
- Battlefield
- Mario Circuit (based on the Mario Kart 8 track)
- Mario Galaxy
- Castle Siege
- Orbital Gate Assault
- Gaur Plain
- Yoshi's Island
- Wily Castle
- Windy Hill Zone
- Lylat Cruise
- Palutena's Temple
- Town and City
- Mario Circuilt (Brawl)
- Wuhu Island
- The Great Cave Offensive
- 75 m (based on Donkey Kong Arcade)
- Wrecking Crew
- Skyworld
- Wii Fit Studio
- Norfair
- Boxing Ring
- Port Town Aero Dive
- Skyloft
- Luigi's Mansion
- Pyrosphere
- Onett
- Halberd
- Jungle Hijinx
- Delfino Plaza
- Gamer (based on Game & Wario)
- Pilotwings
- Bridge of Eldin
- Final Destination
8. Miiverse Stage - This won't be ready at launch, but will use comments and posts from the social platform to decorate and cheer on fighters in the background as you battle.
9. Palutena's Guidance — Replacing the Snake Codex in Brawl, it'll be available in Palutena's Temple. Palutena and Viridi will talk through details of the game, which are prompted by selecting Pit and using his downward taunt. Another fun feature in this segment was confirmation that you can listen to the Star Fox team's radio chatter in stages Lylat Cruise and Orbital Gate Assault.
10. Metal Face — This character appears on Gaur Plain – but only at night – and will attack all-comers and destroy parts of the stage in an attempt to throw you from the battlefield. He's not as nigh-on immortal as he was in Xenoblade Chronicles, however, and you can KO him in order to stop his reign of terror.
11. Ridley — Behaves much more like a playable fighter than other bosses (in the Pyrosphere), and if you deal enough damage to him he'll bow down to your authority and join you to take out the opponents. If a fighter manages to KO Ridley, they'll gain a point for their final score, even if Ridley is fighting for you at the time. Furthermore, if Ridley is able to absorb some energy from a particular part of the stage, he will transform into Meta Ridley and become even more powerful. Other characters / items that can be used to help on this stage are FG II - Graham units, Joulions and Zero.
12. Coin Battles — Joining the standard time and stock Smash options, here you collect coins dropped by foes when they're launched; it's a "relatively casual" way to play.
13. Stamina battles — Another option for Smash battles, in which you lose when your percentage drops to zero.
14. Special Smash — These battles don't affect your records, but allow you to heavily customise the rules; you can have "entirely absurd" matches.
15. Item Frequency — An expansion of the on/off option on the 3DS, you can decide whether you want each item to appear frequently, rarely or not at all.
16. My Music — You can set how often each track appears in battle using sliding scales, allowing you to heavily weight the track rotation towards your favourites.
17. Menu Music — Use the same scales to set and prioritise the menu music. Simple!
18. Loads of Music — A lot more than in the 3DS game, with the presentation saying the two libraries are "not even comparable"; all songs are from throughout Nintendo's history, while almost all tracks from the portable entry are also included.
19. Composers — Lots of composers, basically.
20. CDs — CDs will appear during battles and various modes, which add tracks to your collection when you grab them.
21. Challenges — These are like their contemporaries on the 3DS, in which you meet criteria to unlock panels and goodies; in the Wii U version they're all on one screen, rather than split into multiple grids.
22. Classic Mode — This is changing up from the 3DS equivalent. While you chose a path on the portable, this time around progress is determined by your performance; you can still adjust the intensity setting, but you need to rank highly in battles and "dominate" the final match. Rivals, challengers and random events kick in to shake things up further. A new feature is that you can now play Classic Mode co-operatively with two players.
23. Clear Movies — There'll be a movie for each fighter when you clear Classic or All-Star Mode.
24. All Star Mode — Take on all the fighters in the game with limited items, but in reverse from the 3DS equivalent you start with the newer era fighters to battle your way to the old. The backdrop area is now a coliseum with trophies of those beaten, and this can also be played in two-player co-op.
25. Event Mode — Here you take on set themed battles; as you clear stages the path opens up, and the challenges will set a variety of goals and themes. Separate two-player event battles are also included, on a completely different map.
26. Smash Tour — Smash Tour is the Wii U version's alternative to Smash Run. It functions as a board game — which was leaked by an Amazon listing recently — in which four players try and complete circuits as Miis. Landing on the same spot will prompt a battle, while the goal is to collect fighters and Smash Run-style power-ups; at the end there's a final Stock match, but your stock will consist of fighters that you've collected.
27. Target Blast — As per the 3DS version, but the second bomb launched is bigger and heavier, while there are three types of stages. As before results will contribute towards your Global Smash Power.
28. Group Stadium — Stadium events can now be players with others. In Target Blast up to four players can take turns, Multi-Man Smash supports up to four players consecutively, while Home-Run Contest can be a co-op effort between two players or competitive with up to four taking turns.
29. Special Orders — Special Orders is a section that includes Master Orders and Crazy Orders, featuring those famous hands that are found at the end of Classic mode. Master Orders give you tickets to take on, with rewards based on the difficulty of those you choose. Crazy Orders are more of a gamble — it costs gold to enter, and winning consecutive rounds builds big rewards ahead of a final battle with Crazy Hand. If you lose, however, all your rewards will be gone.
30. Master Fortress — This will appear on the most intense difficulty settings at the close of Classic Mode. This is a new form of Master Core, which is basically a sprawling, dangerous stage.
31. Controllers — The simple summary is that every sensible control scheme is possible. As for the list, here goes: GamePad, Wii U Pro Controller, Wii Classic Controller, Wii Classic Controller Pro, Wii Remote, Wii Remote + Nunchuk, GameCube controller (with adapter) and 3DS (copy of Smash on 3DS needed to sync). You can also customise buttons and controls for each and every controller.
32. Gamecube Controller Adapter for Wii U — The adapter was revealed at E3 and can be purchased separately or in some bundles, with support for Wavebirds included. There'll also be a special Smash Bros. wired GameCube controller on sale or within some bundles.
33. Use Nintendo 3DS as a Controller — Also revealed earlier in the year, this requires a copy of the 3DS game to be running at the same time; you simply go to the 3DS menu on the Wii U game and vice-versa in the 3DS game, following on-screen instructions.
34. Connecting to Nintendo 3DS — Bring your customised characters over from the 3DS version to the Wii U game, with all outfits, equipment and abilities in place.
35. Loads of Trophies — More trophies than ever before, based on home console games, particularly. LOTS.
36. Final Smash Trophies — Elaborate trophies for each character's final smash; you earn these by completing All-Star mode with each character.
37. Trophy Exhibits — These are display areas for your trophies, and you you can try to complete each exhibit as themed sets.
38. Photo Studio — Create your own scenes with Trophies and a variety of backdrops; place your items and props. The customisation options also include resizing objects etc.
39. Trophy Rush — Like on 3DS this is a mode to quickly get more trophies as they fall in crates from above. Another mode that can be tackled with two players in co-op or competitively — there are apparently 2,600 combinations for this mode; we're not sure how.
40. Masterpieces - Like its Wii predecessor, the Wii U entry includes short, cut-down and time-limited demos of classic games; some have pre-installed save data. There are plenty of options and an eShop link to tempt you into buying the full titles.
41. amiibo — As detailed previously, amiibo can accompany you in battle as figure players (FP), fight on your behalf or be used as sparring partners. They level up and learn from encounters — more so when 'travelling' and fighting other amiibo — can be boosted with equipment and will win special items.
42. Internet Connection — A peculiar inclusion, this simply confirmed that the Wii LAN adapter is compatible and recommended if you have poor Wi-Fi.
43. Automatic Notifications — Similar to the feature on 3DS, except when online with the Wii U version an information ticker will show at the top of the home menu screen; a separate Notifications screen will also show a list for more detail.
44. Friends & Tags — Two players on the same Wii U can play together in online matches, either in a team or separate within battles.
45. Tourneys — To arrive after launch, Standard Tourneys are rather similar to their equivalents in Mario Kart 8; users can create up to two at a time, and various rules and customisations can be made. From the brief snippets shown you'll be able to set timeframes, win requirements, stage types and number of participants, along with other options.
46. Official Tourneys - Will arrive a "little while" after launch like Standard Tourneys, but these formal versions will be 64 player battles of survival as you try and advance through knockout rounds; it'll be possible to watch replays of all matches.
47. Wii U GamePad — Can be used for off-screen play or to show damage levels of fighters. Yet it does a lot more, too...
48. Paint — You can pause the game, adjust the angle and snap screenshots (like on 3DS), but then draw and mess around with the image further using the stylus and GamePad touch screen. A future update will allow these creations to be shared online.
49. Voice Chat — When playing with friends online you can use the GamePad microphone for voice chat; this only works before battle and on the results screen, not during a match.
50. Stage Builder — Previously leaked and returning from Brawl, it seems the GamePad will help to take the stage builder to a new level. You can draw easily between two points for a line or go by freehand, while you can place Danger Zones, all sorts of items and choose from 5 themes, while using any unlocked music.
51. Sharing - Not ready for launch, but a future update will allow you to share photos, stages, Mii Fighters and so on with friends or the global community.
Other Modes — A host of modes shared across the Wii U and 3DS versions, such as For Glory battles, For Fun battles, friend battles, Conquest, Spectate, World Stats, Replays and the Replay Channel, Training, Trophy Shop, Sound Test, Fighter Records and more.
Bowser Jr. was then confirmed as a Fighter, along with all the Koopalings
52. Movies — All the new fighter “joins the battle” movies are included in HD.
53. Premium Sound Selection — Anyone who buys both games will get the soundtrack CDs (36 tracks on each disc) when registered through Club Nintendo.
54. Mewtwo Is On The Way… — There's no word on how he'll function yet, but he won't be playable right away; this iconic monster is still in development.
Mewtwo will be available to fans who own a copy of both Super Smash Bros for Nintendo 3DS and Wii U, much in the same way as the previously announced soundtrack CD. The current estimated release date for Mewtwo is Spring 2015, and will be available as a free download for both versions of the game.
That's it, a blow-by-blow breakdown of the Super Smash Bros. for Wii U Nintendo Direct. You can see the video again below, and also let us know which of the reveals you most enjoyed — there are plenty to choose from.

Survey please!! Also, I'm torn between Stage Creator, Tourneys/Tournaments and Smash Tour.
50 Must See things...
Boy, did they promise.
THE HYPE IS REAL!!!!
@PvtOttobot We opted out of a poll because, well, it'd look crazy...
The Direct was pretty underwhelming. 8-player Smash is just chaos for the sake of chaos, Smash Journey is bland when thinking about what could've been possible, and most of these 50 things were taken over from Brawl, anyway, making their noteworthiness questionable at best.
The only parts that actually stood out as good ideas were the new Stage Editor, and the Master Fortress (though presenting it without even the slightest context is really cheap).
All in all, Super Smash Bros. Unite feels more like it's trying to be deliberately party-ish than a motivating, expansive platform fighter full of adventure. While none of the things seem actually bad, they also don't make much of a difference, or leave a sense of adventure or accomplishment anymore.
So excited!!
Cannot wait to owns 7 Jigglys at the same time!
"...there are apparently 2,600 combinations for this mode; we're not sure how."
51 characters times 51 characters equals 2,601 (including all three types of Mii fighters). That's what they were saying.
@brewsky The first thing I did during the Direct after they said 2600 combinations are possible was to take the root of 2600 and check if there are more characters than in the 3DS version
This is gonna be a dual layered game. Too much content.
That was great, can't freaking wait. Also, I love that announcer.
And I'm guessing my 3DS copy will be left behind. I don't really think I'll even play it on the go that much. Still, I have over 100 hours on it,so I don't regret anything. And it will get me free Mewtwo.
I don't think they made this clear, though: will we be able to transfer the unlocked custom special moves from the 3DS to the Wii U? Because I REALLY don't want to have to unlock the ones I have again, the process is annoying as hell when half the moves you get are the ones you already have. That's a really bad design choice.
This Direct was amazing!
Hype overload. Let's hope we get a demo soon.
My question is where they said it would be running at 720p, They mention the game runs at 1080p in the Direct.
@Kaze_Memaryu Do you have an early copy of the game? Otherwise you're making a lot of assumptions here.
I'm really feeling that Event Mode. It's awesome how seemingly every Event has its own reward and some have hidden paths. And of course, CHALLENGES!! I hope that there's seperate boards, but there's currently more than what Brawl had so it's not bad at all.
Wow, didn't expect you guys to break out all 50+ things, though I was expecting some sort of discussion about 4 of the 50+ to be patched in later. I know that's less than 10% but it still seemed worth emphasizing.
Tourney's, sharing, the Miiverse stage and Mewtoo all "later". Special thanks to @jariw for figuring all of that out for me.
Favorite part was the vastly improved Stage Builder. By the time they patch in sharing we should have some really good levels to play on.
Oh, and I don't need to buy any more controllers for 8 player - 1 Gamepad, 3 Wiimotes/nunchucks, 1 Wiimote attached to Classic Pro, 1 Wii U Pro, and 2 3DS each w/ copies of the game. The 20 people I have over every year for Thanksgiving dinner won't care what controllers they are using, it will just be bedlam on the tv anyway.
How many giant penis stages will they have to filter out? Place your bets!
So can any techy people tell me what the difference is between native 1080p and native 720p upscaled to 1080p? Because I honestly can't tell the difference. When looking at MK8, it looks just as crisp and clear as any native 1080p game I've ever seen.
@Smash_kirby Yeah, they clearly showed that the game is running in 1080p. Sakurai is very specific with these things, like when he showed the 30fps assist trophies/pokemon in the previous Direct. Also, all the screenshots released have been in 1080p, which has not been the case with other Wii U games, e.g. Mario Kart 8.
@OneBagTravel I'm judging what I see, and all I said, while being my opinion, is in plain sight.
There is 8 player mode, then stage creator, then everything else IMO. I don't have 7 friends but once this game comes out, I might.
@GamerFromJump Luckily, they will be able to remove them fast. Just like with Miiverse posts.
As awesome as the 3DS version is, the Wii U version is probably going to blow it away.
The Direct was really awesome imo. Though it really does prove that the only purpose to get the 3DS version is because it's portable and you get Mewtwo for free.
@Smash_kirby @Palunken Yes, I agree with you. There's no way they would market this as 1080p if it was 720p. Upscaling is not an increase of resolution. The point of the HD here is of outmost importance for the large stages. And @ThomasBW84, there are other 1080p games available, such as Wind Waker HD and Monster Hunter 3 Ultimate. A game like MK8 is much more graphically demanding than SSB U, with all the background animations, particle and lighting effects.
Not entirely sold on Smash Tour yet, but will definitely love if this mode supports Online and will play it much more frequently if it is. Either way I'm VERY happy to have Tourney mode back, as well as Event matches! I just hope Event matches load faster than Brawl did. I played them occasionally in Melee just for the heck of it, but after completing everything in Brawl I just couldn't be bothered to play them again due to how long they took to load up.
I was hoping for an adventure mode but I'm ready to fight
@jariw True in those cases, but I still don't think this'll be one. There's a lot going on in this game, and thanks to the very welcome focus on 60fps I think this — like Super Mario 3D World and Mario Kart 8 — will run natively at 720p but be upscaled.
Nintendo's not advertising falsely to say '1080p' due to the upscaling, merely adopting the same tricks as everyone else. To be honest, the game looks fabulous in the demos I've played, so I don't even personally care either way.
As also said in the article, it's just our thinking based on similar releases (ie, not enhanced ports of GameCube / Wii era games and graphical engines) from the past couple of years. Perhaps we'll be proven wrong, which will be just grand if so
@Dipper723 Blu-Ray discs hold 25 GB. This game is nowhere near that size. It's a single layer.
#6 would have been great for the 3DS and I'm not sure why it wasn't there. It's possible that the 3DS didn't have enought power to show essentially 2 stages at once.
8 player fighting should be interesting. I'll have to try it out and see how crowded the screen is.
Nice to see that the Temple is back.
You forgot Kongo Jungle. Apparently you can see it on the selection screen. I guess maybe we're going with just confirmed, because there is that windmill one no one knows about.
Also, STAGE BUILDER. Wooo.
way too many things for "after launch". That and the way they recicled Brawl stages just confirms that the games were rushed.
Still, good break down.
Free-form painting in the stage-builder.. faints
The differences on the Wii U look great, but like a previous poster, I'm very disappointed that there's no real adventure mode. Subspace Emissary was a very unique experience, and I'd have preferred for there to be something like that over things like 8-player smash, the board game, etc. And an adventure mode will probably be too big to add on as DLC
@minotaurgamer You could say the same about Mario Kart 8. I think the recycled stages are playing the nostalgic factor for the fans. Otherwise you could say the same thing about having mario/link/donkey kong in the game as well. I don't think you've thought this through enough. The game has a ton of new content on release with online features added later. Big deal.
@ThomasBW84 Regarding Mario Kart 8, Nintendo never said 1080p AFAIK, Nintendo said "HD" and some people incorrectly interpreted that to 1080p. They also published most of their screen shots for MK8 in 720p. That's a big difference. With SSB U, Nintendo seems to consistently have said 1080p, at least since E3 2013.
Here are some old links:
"Nintendo has revealed a couple of new Super Smash Bros. details this evening, firstly that the game will run in 1080p."

This Direct was possibly the best we've ever had. I loved just about everything that was shown. 8 Player Smash, Metal Face, a Stage Builder that's actually good... And, of course, Mewtwo! I was always excited about this game, but now I really can't wait!
Loved everything about this direct. Im gonna be happy about whats in there instead of complaining about what is not in there
LEVEL EDITOR!!!! HAHAHAHAHHAAAA!!!! I AM SO HAPPY, THAT I AM LAUGHING AND CRYING AT THE SAME TIME!!!!
I am so happy, that even if I didn't get anything else for the whole generation, I would still be in ecstasy.
The level editor here is JUST what I was praying for. I would have settled for a block based editor, but being able to draw levels with a "pencil" is one of the best features on the system. And thank god for sharing as well.
Creativity and content sharing is one of the mega trends in this generation and this is one aspect, where Wii U shines.
Lots of stuff going on for this game. Can't wait
Mewtwo?! I don't care WHAT capacity it is... finally I can have that Lucario vs Mewtwo battle. There's millions to talk about, so I'll just bow out with... STAMINA!!!!!!!
I may be one of the few that is really excited to collect and read all the trophies that are in this, but I am very fascinated by the history. Throwing in the soundtracks is just icing on the cake.
Best Smash Bros. ever. I'm sure it will be. Which, by the way, is saying a lot. I have my fingers crossed on a smaller, playable version of Ridley being unlockable. One can dream...
@ThomasBW84
"18. Loads of Music — A lot more more than in the 3DS game"
Something tells me that second "more" isn't supposed to be there.
That was a great read. Really wasn't expecting a full list of all 50. Gotta say smash Tour looks really fun and stage builder looks fantastic.
@Kogorn733 i would love for adventure mode to be added later on as much a was packed in i feel like adventure mode was left out due to the rush in development
@jariw I'll check it out, thanks!
Are there connection strength icons in the lobby? I'm not trying to have a Mario Kart 8 debacle (unless that's not how it works). There always seems to be one person who enters the fray, and all of a sudden I can't stop the item box lottery.
Hoping to avoid poor connections in Smash.
@Kaze_Memaryu You have to be joking. Also where the love did you get that title from?
Watch the profanity please — TBD
Is it weird that I read through this entire list with the voice of the Smash Bros. announcer reading it in my mind? Hahaha I couldn't get it out of my brain.
If only there were 55 must-see-things, then I might be interested.
http://meatballcandy.com/wp-content/uploads/2012/04/arnold-total-recall.gif
Enjoyed the dirext and I am re-sold on getting the package with the adapter.
However one thing I did take away from this dirext is the Wii U version is not done, and is in essence being released too early to hit holidays. Don't really have a huge problem with that myself.
At least the internet didn't let me down: get mewtwo, complain. 3ds version is now garbage. All nice and predictable!
So much stuff, my head can't wrap around this.
Level editor is a great example of ways that the Wii U can do things the other consoles this generation can't. I love to see creative uses of the system's distinct features that couldn't be done on the other cookie cutter consoles. My hype for this game is so high, I just... I... picks up 3DS and begins smashing furiously
@yojo I tend to call it that, simply because Super Smash Bros. for WiiU is an exceedingly terrible and uninspired name.
Also, if I was joking, it would've been much shorter, drawn-out jokes aren't my thing.
@brewsky A single layer Blu-Ray holds 25GB. A dual-layer Blu-Ray holds 50GB.
HELP! Lol... on number 48: In the video, roughly around 28:00 where the paint feature was shown. Does anyone know the song that is playing? I can't put my finger on it... Please help me! Thanks.
Aside from the background, is there any way that we know of in which the Miiverse stage is any different from Battlefield?
HYPE!!!
A WiiU game internally has 2 frame buffers (one of which can also be double or triple buffered).
The first is the "native" buffer, where the game uses the CPU/GPU to create each frame. When a frame is complete, and the TV is ready for syncing - this buffer is blitted (copied) to the "TV buffer". The resolution of the TV buffer determines what the input mode of the TV needs to be.
Its quite common to make the TV buffer full HD (1920x1080) - and the native buffer a lower resolution (say 720p). When the native to TV blit occurs, various filtering techniques can be used to smooth out jaggies and more.
So don't be too shocked if the TV buffer is 1080p and the native buffer(s) are 720p. It really doesn't matter too much either way - and sometimes it can make the game look better.
(note: for games that support off-TV play, the TV buffer is replaced by the GamePad buffer which is much lower res. Rather than changing the res of the native buffer, its easier to blit and downsample to a lower res).
Can smash bros supports 4 wiiu pro controllers and 4 gamecube controllers at the same time or is it limited to 7 + gamepad?
@Ja_Kix6 probably a song from Wario Land Shake It.
So how exactly is one able to connect seven Wii Remotes at the same time?
So basically everything 3DS owners wanted...
Good to hear that all the achievements are on one page. I like that better! Hopefully it will look a bit like the cool, big window from Brawl. I also like that the event matches are back, gives the game more replayability!
However, A pity that there are so many characters from the start. It means there will only be 9 unlockable, though that may take quite some effort. On the upside, owners of the 3DS version already know what to expect character-wise. So no surprises there.
What is bothering me:
1)stage builder usage limit of tools i saw the bar was over half just from drawing?I hope we can place a lot of items.
2)mewtwo gonna be free for those who have both games but paid for those that have only 1?
3)smash tour looks interesting and fun but as all board game i think it would get boring fast.
@OneBagTravel well they are recycling the stupid yoshi course from Double dash which was already on the DS too...so yeah maybe it is.
The game feels like they rushed it tp have for this year. Most of those modes could have been added in the game without launching them later. Also using stages that were already in the last game instead of another ones seems that they just grabbed the models available, made them HD and called it a day.
Not bad but It still feels like they finished them as soon as possible.
Why Mewtwo and not Roy or Lucas? Mewtwo's just another clone. HE'S AS BAD AS DR MARIO!
33:34 OPENING confirmed! Unlike the 3DS version, the Wii U will have one.
Why would they tell people if there's gonna be an easter egg like Palutenas Guidance?
I'm mostly excited for 8-Player Smash, the music options, and just about everything about the online modes. Words seriously can't describe how much I can't wait for the Wii U version! I really can't.
Heck, I've even been thinking on skipping out on a demo if they give one. That way, I keep my hype meter to its maximum and I can take joy in being awed when I finally slide that disc in.
man, the wii u version getting all the GOOD stages
So is there going to be a intro video for that one character that Sakurai teased in the daily photos?
Bad: 1, 5, 6, 30
Don't Really Care: 8, 12. 37, 38, 48
Good: Everything Else
@nessisonett No, Mewtwo is only a clone in the sense that it was cloned from Mew. Other than its Shadow Ball being very similar to Samus's Charge Shot and Lucario's Aura Sphere, Mewtwo's moveset in Melee has been completely original up to this point in the series.
As substantial as Smash Bros 3DS was, the video almost demotes the portable version to merely a stop-gap until the Wii U version comes out.
Who said Bayonetta is not on Smash?

@BulbasaurusRex Have you played the game? From the reports from San Fransisco I have looked at, the testers seem to be very positive about #5 and #6.
@Captain_Toad
THANK YOU!!!!!!!!!!!! I FOUND IT!!!!!!!!!!!! Maaaan...ever since that Nintendo Direct.. I just couldn't stop thinking about it... It is from Wario Land Shake It.. Stonecarving City.
@BensonUii Omg, that's so clever XD
Welp, looks like I really need to get a Wii U now.
@BensonUii LOL
@LtAldoRaine Number 34, shouldn't be a problem for you : )
Is it weird that out of everything they showed, Palutena's Guidance was the one thing which got me really excited?

MAI BAE MEWTWO IS BACK BOOOOOOYS
▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬ஜ۩۞۩ஜ▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬
@Iggly thumb up
This direct was pretty awesome I'm without words
TIP: To play with a friend online on the 3DS version, get them on skype, count down 3-2-1 GO and on GO enter the online mode... There is about a 1 in 3 chance you will get matched up.
If you don't, try again.
Prepare yourselves. Mewtwo is coming.
This will be my first smash game any tips
@Metroi What kind of tips?
Remember this in early October 2014 during the Super Smash Bros. 4 audition:
Well now he's back and ready to kick some Greninja and Lucario's ass in 2015 soon.

MEWTWO FOREVER!!!
Man, after all these features I feel as if I've been ripped off by the 3DS version...
@Captain_Toad The basics and what is what in the ssb world.
Thanks
@Metroi Basically the name of the game is to attack your opponent as much as possible so you can make it easier to get your opponent to get killed by knocking him/her to the far edge of the screen with one powerful enough attack.
The controls are simple as a how to play tutorial will appear either in the movie section or if you wait a while in the intro.
A is for a normal attack. B is for special attack. And the control stick will be also used for moving and directing certain attacks by pressing either the A or B button.
It may feel a tad off at first but a couple of battles will make it feel second nature. Best way to start is to pick 2.0 when you start classic mode or just get into a couple of CPU battles. You can ask the Smash bros WiiU or 3ds forums if you wanna know more.
