I have the special edition of Fates and I wouldn't buy again. The game was really underwhelming for me, I don't think that I could force me again through the slug that was the plot.
That said, I think its fake - why wouldn't they use the special edition's artwork to represent the full game, or something like that?
I have the second one, but I don't want to play it until I hunt down a copy of the first one and play that. I'll try them out someday, Warren, I promise. The premise looks interesting, so that works in their favour to not go into the "I must sell" pile.
I saw the news on the main page, read "Bowser" and guessed that Thomas had written the article.... I wasn't wrong.
Anyway, ignoring the little puns with Bowser, its nice to see Nintendo is bothering to do a good marketing campaign this time. Comic Con is a huge event, and will be a great event to promote the Switch and a heavy hitter such as Mario Odyssey.
@OdnetninAges Are you me? I got my Black Friday NN3DS and the transfer from my OG Aqua Blue 3DS was also a pain. Never tried to change faceplates, either!
Well, he admitted he was wrong but anyway, I don't have any hope of this being on Switch. When the dev thinks Nintendo is still stuck with the Wii, you can tell from a mile away he's not interested. Even the gamepad had all the required buttons!
@aesc I'll just do a Nintendont since I don't want more devices hooked up and my brother has my GC, anyway. I've been thinking of whether I should get a GC adapter and a GC controller or just stick with my Pro controller though...
Nope. I've been learning my lesson - Special editions nowadays are nothing but glorified cash grabs. Fire Emblem Fates was the breaking point for me - I barely check the art book, and I was stressed trying to get preorder one and they were so expensive that there were units avaliable one or two months down the road.
I cancelled my Zelda BoTW special edition due to the same - and its still available at my local store due to price.
I'll stick to the normal edition, which shouldn't be so much of a cash grab (considering this is the third version of the games, of course).
Where I live, most gyms have Pokemon with insane stats that are obviously hacked, so I got bored of trying to get a decent team to fight. I erased the app at the end, it became frustrating.
But I'll be realist, between the Switch and my Ipad's shiny Retina display, I'll always end up watching the videos on the Ipad or on my Smart TV. So.... they can take all the time we need.
I'll probably hack my Wii U this year when I finish playing the backlog I have in it, to be able to replay my GC games. I've wanted to replay Rogue Squadron III for a couple of months.
@NinjaWaddleDee That's exactly what I thought. I don't think I would be using nice language if I was running for my life from a pack of man eating monster and was a poor, simple mortal.
I loved it, and I can't wait for season 2! There was profanity, but not anything you couldn't handle if you play modern games.
Gore? Go brush up your history on the real Vlad Dracul. The forest of the impaled did exist, and was far more graphical than anything in this series. He was known as a brutal commander, so I don't expect his Castlevania counterpart to be all roses and sunshine. If anything, the last Iga games were a bit toned down to appeal to a bigger audience.
Corrupt bishops? We're talking about Middle Ages church. The guys who sold indulgences to any who could pay? The time where Popes were puppets to families in power? The time of the crusaders? Don't expect nice bishops like you can find nowadays. Those are from modern times.
His sense of tact is awful and it will cause him problems. As for support, considering other indies have said other things, this seems like a grudge for his late port not selling. Marketing should be shared between the dev and the eshop, so if he expected people would just flock to it, he doesn't know a thing about business.
Watch him port something late in the Switch's life, bomb, and complain it didn't do as well as those that released at the beginning of the lifespan.
It's an icon. Sure, maybe the older was "nicer" but the game is the same one, which, y'know, should be the important part here.
First World Problems, really.
@Tyranexx Let's just say I hate the boss of the Temple of Time in Twilight Princess with all my soul. In general, Skulltulas in Tp are horrible and my favorite way of getting rid of them is with bomb arrows.
I would love one. The dock isn't going to fit in any part of my TV rack and I don't want to put it in front or behind of the TV. Nintendo did screw up that part of the console.
I'll watch this when it releases! I hope they manage to expand on Lisa and Dracula's relationship - I always though Symphony could have a bigger backstory.
The toys to life market is headed right to the bargain bin. I don't see much of a future for Skylanders even on mobile - Kids will play some then use another app.
Even amiibo is suffering for it - most people I know that have them, are for collection purposes, not to use them!
@RainbowGazelle Those games were ready to launch by 2015, which means almost, if not all, those decisions were made by Iwata and NoA's high executives. Even then, Iwata probably didn't make the decision alone, I wouldn't be surprised if they were topics raised by Treehouse, and they got feedback from above on whether or not take those elements out.
As for the UK receiving less localizations tailor made for them? Probably it's a decision based on cost. The U.K. Isn't a market that on its lonesome can compete with the US, so why would they lose money on doing a second localization job when the US localization is completely functional?
It's fine, it's nice to have a clear answer from the devs.
It also allows me as a consumer to make a decision to buy Activision products from second hand. Not that they have any games that interest me recently, but still.
What a shame, I'd really love if Steep would come to the Switch since it was one game that had my attention, but it seems the silence this year was telling of this. I wouldn't be surprised if the port is cancelled without fanfare in the next months, unless Nintendo devs manage to fix the mess. And even then, we may get a buggy mess.
Scalpels are truly the scum of the Earth. I hope Nintendo produces enough this time so the scalpels get stuck with all the stock they get and take a giant loss!
Nice to see the positive reactions! I'Ve never played Rocket League, so I'll wait for launch before deciding if I get it or not. It seems fun, but I usually get bored of multiplayer games quickly.
@Hobbesyall It probably will be no deal then, unless they add them as DLC. The focus is on Shadow Dragon, Awakening and Fates.
Permadeath is always good!... At least for me, I like that they add something that forces you to think a bit instead of just abusing Xander's horse as they did in the E3 demo.
I wonder if this version has many difference from the Roms. This is the final, retail version versus the partial builds out there. Wonder where they keep the Rom? In some floppy disk in a Nintendo vault?
@Fath You're right, but at the end a company has to decide one of the possible scenarios as the most likely one, to define a clear plan to react to it, and in this case, it seems they chosen the scenario to take AM2R as competition, and thus, reacted accordingly.
If they thinked AM2R didn't affect the IP protection or that it wouldn't affect potential sales, they wouldn't have done anything, most likely. But they weighted the options and though that even with the potential backlash (that happened) it was worth it.
A million has been sold and the heavy hitters for Japan still hasn't arrived - Splatoon 2 is next month and Dragon Quest X is in August.... Damn. If Nintendo manages to fix the supply issues, the Switch is going to leave that million mark behind quite quickly!
It doesn't matter that AM2R wasn't monetized, as @Nintendoforlife has brilliantly explained, having a free alternative vs a paid alternative means a a number of potential buyers of M:SR will desist and stick with the free version, losing money for the company. It isn't that hard to get, plus Nintendo simply sent a C&D letter which is standard procedure.
About indies... I would have liked that they dedicated a day in the Treehouse to them. It was the perfect space to show them off instead of repeating games all three days.
And I doubt Animal Crossing mobile will be a fully fledged game like some think. They want people to get hooked on the franchise then drop money for a Switch, that won't happen if they can get their fix in their cellphones.
And another Japanese developer screws up a game on mobile.... Why can't they bother to make sure the emulationat least works relatively decent before releasing it?
Here in Chile there were stock problems in March, but they're normal now. You can walk in any store and buy one, stores are even pushing bundles to get people to buy!
The lack of sales isn't due to lack of interest, though. The system is around US$500 (Stupid Juegos de Video Latam....Grr) and games are between US$70-US$80 each, and the system alone is half the average income.
I think that it may get a bigger push in Christmas, but the Wii U did cede a lot of ground to Sony/MS. Plus, the lack of sales from Nintendo also works against them and not having official support isn't nice either.
If I hadn't gotten my Black Friday New 3DS, I think I would have upgraded my OG 3DS to this. It seems well built, and honestly, since I use glasses the 3D effect has never worked really well for me.
Still, I find it interesting that we have to applaud it includes a charger. It should be the minimum!
Thank goodness I'll probably never use voice chat. One of my friends are I interested in video games, and I have no interest in chatting with total strangers.

Basically, we're seeing a Wii situation again... except that, at least this time, EA is trying with their ports. FIFA for Switch looks great.
I won't get it since I'm no videogame sport fan - only care for those that have a RPG mode - but I hope it does well. I still don't have too much hopes for their support, in other interview they practically confirmed that Frostbite's team is so overworked that any possible port or update is out of the question for know, so cero hopes for "modern" games.
