@Fiergala They sold eleven million in the first two months and then under 500,000 in the three months afterward. That's an incredibly bad drop and indicates that yes, the game is being poorly received.
World in its initial launch only sold five million and it still by this point in its life cycle outsold where Wilds is at. That's dire; unless the game vastly picks up in sales at some point it''s very likely going to sell under half of what World has total.
@Fiergala The problem with Wilds' sales is that they aren't maintaining the way World's were. From April to June the game sold only 80,000 copies more than Rise did in the same timeframe despite being years older and it's a title they were counting on being able to leg out for years and continually sell more content for. The game's poor reception is a serious problem for them because they were counting on it being a years-long big money maker they could rely on and it's proving to not be that.
@Yoshi3 The former is a total licensing nightmare (even back in the day they had to cut a character for the international release) and the latter is still available on PS4, Xbox, and Steam, so I doubt you'll ever see either of them in a collection.
Kind of a shocking update but a very welcome one. They probably could've saved the PSP version for a future collection of its own and instead just casually created the definitive version of the game as a free update with five days notice, no complaints here.
Probably not be playing much but will peck more at the replay I was doing of Persona 5 Royal I've been doing if nothing else. Keep wondering about replaying one of the Johto games but can't make up my mind between HGSS and Crystal, feel like they scratch different itches for me.
I mean, it's a pretty unavoidable comparison. It's clearly using the same engine, the menus and store mechanics are pretty much one-to-one, and it has very similar structure and pacing. It's not really just surface-level similarities.
That's a pretty steep price for the collection if they charge the same for digital, but then every WB release plummets in value within a couple of months anyway so I don't mind waiting.
Feels like a game where the slow, expensive DLC rollout killed the hype in it. People were loving it when it came out but I pretty much never see people talking about it anymore.
I'm kind of just waiting for, like... Any Switch 2 game being announced I'm interested in? As it is I'll probably get Reload when it's on sale and there's Mortal Kombat and thus far those are literally it.
Guess there is stuff coming, but Air Ride, Age of Imprisonment, ZA, and Metroid Prime are all doing nothing for me, and ZA's the only one of those I'm inclined to believe is actually coming out this year with the way they're marketing them.
The Silent Hill 2 remake was very good (and I hope it gets a Switch 2 version at some point) but not sure I trust Bloober with an original project yet given the rest of their track record. Maybe see how this one and the SH1 remake pan out.
Only thing I even mildly care about is Persona. I'll give it a 3 since I at least recognize a few of the other things are things a notable subsection of people would want but it still felt like a total waste of time on my part to watch, especially with this being the first real info Nintendo's put out in months.
Might give Grand Bazaar a look on sale, only one really on my radar. Probably get Shantae at some point but it'll be on sale.
I eventually got Forgotten Land as a gift and thought it was okay but not okay enough that I'm particularly interested in actually spending money on it, not that fond of it.
Of course people are somehow managing to turn, "TPC just flat out stole someone's art," into, "And this is why fans shouldn't be allowed to create art." Of course. Absurd that people are somehow finding a way to defend this.
@LazyDaisy I kind of suspect they might be updating it just because there was no sign of it in the Switch 2 announcement Direct even though they were showing off Engage.
Certainly hoping so anyway. Even just some performance stuff would be nice but I would happily spend money on any kind of story upgrade, especially if we maybe got one that folded some Three Hopes stuff into it. Kind of a game where I don't enjoy the game itself very much but I like a lot of the new ideas it brings to the world.
@Sambuc I wouldn't be super shocked if they end up doing a 3D All-Stars 2 consisting of Galaxy 2, 64 DS, and 3D Land for the 40th anniversary. Not a lot of time to market a big new 3D Mario this year but that and an upgrade for Wonder would probably be good quick Christmas money for them.
@KaiserGX Oh, I can certainly see it, it's just I prefer really aggressive CRT filters on other stuff. This is definitely an improvement and I'm cool with it, just feel like it could be more pronounced than it is, especially in regards to the curvature of the screen.
Can't see myself getting a giant amount of use on the SNES, generally its controller layout makes sense and translates fine to later ones (though depending on the game might move some Select stuff to one of the extra shoulder buttons, offhand Super Metroid would benefit from that), but this'll be a godsend whenever they add it to the NES and GB / GBA games.
I'm definitely wanting to pick up the Switch port at some point, kind of just been lost in the shuffle of other recent releases. I might grab it next time it's on sale since the only things on my slate for the foreseeable future are Shuten Order in September and whenever Mortal Kombat and Death Match Love Comedy come out.
@AJWolfTill Kurara gets buffed significantly just by how much more utility she has on the new difficulty setting. Basically makes every enemy hit a one-shot kill without armor so the fact she can set armor makes her extremely valuable if you can't finish a round in one turn. The mode takes her from basically useless to borderline essential.
That said it's hilarious to me that they buffed Tsubasa because even before this she was quite likely the best character in the game (the only real competition being Takumi and Nozomi) and nothing about these changes really puts anyone else on her level.
@Friendly Based on the way Kodaka had been talking about it I'd say it's unlikely any time soon. If there are eventually ports for other consoles I imagine they're a ways off since he was making it pretty clear during the, "We might go belly up," talk that they couldn't afford to do other versions.
@Sobtanian My time at the end was about 140 hours, but you can probably shave 10 or 20 off of that from times I just left the game running while doing other things. And it'd probably be a lot quicker now than it was at the time because patches have helped cut down on a lot of the bloat with things like skipping straight to choices and letting you skip some battles you couldn't before.
Took a weirdly long time to put that update out, a lot of that stuff was added to the PC version a month ago.
Either way I finished 100%ing it awhile back so probably not going to play it for awhile, but super, super recommend giving the game a look. A lot of this stuff sounds like very welcome improvements to a game that was already fantastic.
This seems like it'd be mildly worth a look if it were just the $10 eShop purchase but the extra walled off content renders it an incredibly easy skip.
Was planning for it to be No Sleep for Kaname Date... but it wound up being so short I finished it in one day (without really even devoting that much focus to it) so, uh, not sure actually. Probably get back to the on-and-off replay I've been doing of Persona 5 Royal.
@Mr_Zurkon ZA's a standalone game. Arceus was designed to be primarily single player, with the Pokedex being entirely able to be finished on your own, so this one is likely similar.
Didn't really care for Age of Calamity and didn't care enough about TotK's backstory to bother picking up the last tear before beating it, so this one's a skip for me.
Really wish they'd do more dream match Warriors games again, those are so much more interesting than stuff like this and Three Hopes to me.
I'm kind of surprised it's as high as mid-single digit, kind of just seems like a product designed for almost nobody. Especially since the thing supports third party cameras anyway, if it's a feature that actually interests you you probably already own a compatible one.
I never did get a Switch 1 Pro Controller, and it was years into the console before I ever once actually played it docked, but I decided I'd be doing it enough on the 2 that it was worth going ahead and grabbing one, grabbed it a couple of days after getting the console itself.
Yeah, this one's a skip for me. No interest at all in the waggle minigames or in getting a camera for my Switch and I didn't really like Jamboree very much in the first place.
Mega Dragonite was basically the only worthwhile part of that entire slog and that could've been a screenshot. No clue why on earth they hyped up this gigantic pile of nothing of a presentation for two months.
@RupeeClock Different strokes I guess. Personally while it wasn't the worst part of PLA to me (that would be its awful, awful combat system which this game is at least fortunately ditching), stuff like, "Use this move ten times," or, "Catch six of these," just felt like blatant waste of time padding to me and I think the game would be a substantially tighter experience if the Pokedex had just focused like it normally does.
Apparent lack of any kind of single player component really kills my interest in it. I think there's definitely a place for a Stadium-style game in the current landscape of the series, and wanted one for a long time, but really not a fan of how they seem to be approaching it.
@RupeeClock I think Dragonite's been in this weird state where they haven't really wanted to touch it but they've wanted to keep it prominent. It's pretty much stayed a marketing fixture throughout the franchise for years and remained competitively viable long after many other pseudos have fallen off hard in both respects, so I don't think they were outright neglecting it so much as just they didn't seem to think it needed revision.
About time Dragonite got a Mega, and while it wasn't quite what I was expecting it's pretty quickly grown on me. Wish there was more shown off than just that but it's still nice, admittedly more curious about the future merchandising with it than I am ZA at this point.
I'm just floored that they had a five month information drought and 20 minutes of irrelevant blather just to when they finally got to ZA go, "Here's Mega Dragonite, that's literally everything, bye!" I'm increasingly convinced the reason the city looks so empty is because the game is empty, because they seem to be actively avoiding actually showing anything.
Peach went through five voices just across the N64 and Gamecube. Samantha Kelly was in the role for a long time and should've been informed they were going a new direction but it's not like Nintendo never changed anyone's voices before 2023.

Glad to have C. Viper back though I've not been playing much SF6 lately, probably just wait until Ingrid's out to get the season pass.

Re: PSA: Pokémon YouTube Channel Uploads 'Pokémon The Movie 2000'
Think it's pretty handily the weakest of the three but still have a soft spot for it, might give it a watch this evening.
Personally my favorite of the movies overall (other than maybe Detective Pikachu) is pretty handily Power of Us.
