Re: Fans Reckon Nintendo Has "Killed" Mario Kart World With Its Latest Update

Lizuka

I feel like this game really, really needs to add some kind of traditional lap structure option. The tracks just bleed together and feel so boring most of the time because most of them don't even actually get to the point until they're almost over with.

And all in all, yeah, I'm definitely with the people not feeling World so far. There's a strong base that maybe future updates can flesh out and fix but between the forgettable tracks, the wonky item balance, the absolutely awful unlockable systems, and somehow making the rival system even more repetitive and boring than it already was it's just a game that wears out its welcome very quickly.

Re: Switch 2 'Drag x Drive' Estimated File Size Revealed By Nintendo

Lizuka

I'm guessing at the low price point it won't but I kind of hope this gets a demo. There's a part of me that is definitely curious but I could also easily see myself playing ten minutes of it and going, "Yeah, I hate this," so I'd really like to be able to get a feel for it before dropping the money.

Re: Nintendo Confirms The Release Date For Drag X Drive On Switch 2

Lizuka

Really feels like Nintendo's throwing this out there to die. There's something to the idea of it but between the minimal promotion and how just visually bland it looks it looks like this generation's Sushi Striker where they just plop it out there and immediately forget it exists yet never put it on sale at a reasonable price afterward.

Re: Former Nintendo Execs Fear We Might Be Waiting A While For A 3D Mario On Switch 2, Thanks To Donkey Kong

Lizuka

Honestly I'm just kind of dreading the next 3D Mario game because I'm pretty sure it's going to end up being some bloated open world slop that I'm going to want no part of anyway. Would be thrilled with a new one if I'm wrong but if that is what they end up doing with it then it's a hard pass for me because I'm very, very tired of bloated open world trash infesting the industry and miss actual level design.

Re: Talking Point: What Are You Playing This Weekend? (21st June)

Lizuka

Finished a run of Tropical Freeze yesterday so kinda-sorta between stuff right now, already pretty much tired of Mario Kart and not really in the mood to dig deep into Bravely Default yet so I'm not sure. Maybe Danganronpa: Trigger Happy Havoc or Wind Waker though really I'm just killing time until No Sleep for Kaname Date, nothing on my radar until then.

Re: Super Mario Party Jamboree Updated For Switch 2 And Switch (Version 2.0.0)

Lizuka

I really should probably try to play more of this game. I kind of haven't really played it since the first week or so it came out since I really just wasn't feeling it as much as Superstars.

Do wish was possible to get the Switch 2 upgrade without having to drop money on a bunch of mic and camera stuff I'll never use but eh, I don't mind sticking with the Switch 1 version.

Re: Review: Nintendo Switch 2 Piranha Plant Camera - Shocking Image Quality, But Its Cuteness Will Snare You

Lizuka

I really just can't wrap my head around, "I need the microscopic video of me in the corner of the screen that's there while the person I'm talking to is mostly focused on video games to be of pristine quality," as a concept. If I did opt to get a camera for my Switch 2 (highly unlikely that'll ever happen admittedly) I'd likely go as cheap as possible since what does it matter if it looks good.

Re: What Review Score Would You Give Mario Kart World?

Lizuka

Probably like a 6. Mechanically it does what it's trying to do well but I find most of its tracks forgettable and its wonky item balance makes it really annoying to play single player which is the main thing I'm concerned about. Also its unlock system is just flat out bad, especially the Kamek thing.

Re: Street Fighter 6's Switch 2 Version Declared Tournament Legal By Capcom

Lizuka

I ended up deciding to double dip since I never ended up getting the DLC on Xbox anyway (plus I'm kind of trying to divest my library from it since I don't intend to get the next model but that's a whole other matter) and I'm glad I did. Worst that can be said for the Switch 2 version is that it can look a little smudgy sometimes, outside of that it's a wonderful port.

Re: Feature: 11 Games With 'Secret' Performance Bumps You Should Revisit On Switch 2

Lizuka

@FredsBodyDouble I've only really tried out 2 but it does at least benefit from much quicker load times. First thing I did was fast travel to Mor Ardain and the grey floor / no NPCs thing lasted only for a split second, barely long enough to see it, instead of a few seconds like it usually does.

It bares noting that I was playing off a cartridge so probably wouldn't even be that much for a digital copy.

Re: Feature: 11 Games With 'Secret' Performance Bumps You Should Revisit On Switch 2

Lizuka

I've been mostly pleased with the Danganronpa games. 1 and 2 feel and look great, while V3 seems to be moooostly okay? It's not perfect - compared to on PS4 there are some obvious jagged edges on the sprites (especially obvious on Kaede), the backgrounds look muddy, and there seems to be some occasional off timing in the dialogue popping up - but it runs a lot better than it did.

Granted I haven't had the chance to check out the end of the game where the big problems were so I don't know how well that goes on the Switch 2.

Re: Review: The Legend Of Zelda: Tears Of The Kingdom - Nintendo Switch 2 Edition - A Sublime Sequel, Now Sublimer

Lizuka

@dartmonkey Yes because mechanically, sure, it's pretty much BotW, I can gel with that. But there were mounting frustrations throughout the experience that just annoyed me more and more as I went and by the time I was done I wanted to be done with it.

Ultimately on its own, yeah, sure, game's probably fine, whatever. But end of the day in my view it's just a more bloated BotW with awkward crafting mechanics shoved into everything so I can just play BotW instead if I really want to do that. And BotW while I like it is definitely around the bottom when it comes to 3D Zelda games for me anyway.

Only reason I even specified the amount of time I played it was pretty much because I didn't I'd be receiving the exact opposite of your comment telling me I didn't give it a chance. I did and I didn't like it.

Re: Review: The Legend Of Zelda: Tears Of The Kingdom - Nintendo Switch 2 Edition - A Sublime Sequel, Now Sublimer

Lizuka

I'll probably give the game another shot on the Switch 2 but at least on my initial run I really didn't enjoy it. Got about 70 hours in, with about 3/4 of the shrines and three of the dungeons done, and then reached a point of, "Yeah I'm just going to go beat this," and haven't touched it since. At a point was like 30 feet away from the last dragon tear and didn't even bother to pick it up because I just wanted to get things over with.

Honestly one of the rare cases where I regret that I mostly buy things digitally because if I had gotten it physical I probably would've sold it by now.

Re: Review: The Legend Of Zelda: The Wind Waker (GameCube) - A Timeless Treasure

Lizuka

It and Majora's Mask are my favorite games in the series, love it to death. I'd rather have the HD version but even the Gamecube one with its issues is wonderful.

Honestly it's not even the Swift Sail that I think makes Wind Waker HD such a huge upgrade (though it does help), it's having the good sense to equip the tools you can use in the boat to the D-pad instead of making you constantly shuffle your inventory back and forth every time you get in and out of it. It's a whole game of the Iron Boots.

Re: Poll: Box Art Brawl - Duel: Super Street Fighter IV 3D Edition

Lizuka

Easy win for NA / Europe on this one, not even close. I guess if I had to give the Japanese one any points it's that it's a bit reminiscent of the box art for Alpha 3, but that's kind of just looking for something to compliment it on because the non-Japanese one is both way more interesting and has way better composition.

Re: Review: The Legend Of Zelda: Breath Of The Wild - Nintendo Switch 2 Edition - The Best Way To Play, But 'Zelda Notes' Sucks

Lizuka

Even on its own merits I'd probably not give BotW more than like a 7 honestly. I like it plenty but it has a lot of readily evident issues (dungeons are trash bags, the combat is very repetitive because the game only has like six types of enemies, everything about upgrading equipment is super grindy, there isn't really any endgame content anywhere near hard enough to make bothering to get fully upgraded actually worth the effort, the motion control segments are universally terrible, the story's very thin and yet very dull, everything about how the Korok Seeds are implemented is a mess, Master Mode is a poorly balanced chore more designed to waste your time than anything) and the only 3D Zelda games I don't enjoy more than it are TotK and maybe Skyward Sword.

But then again I think 5 should be the baseline for, "Yeah, this game is fine," instead of treating it like anything below 9.975 is slop like most people for some reason do.
