Re: Random: The Game Awards Urged Eiji Aonuma To 'Wrap Up' Zelda Acceptance Speech

LexKitteh

In prior years they seemed to not have any limits on acceptance speeches, and some went uncomfortably long. I definitely noticed them rushing everyone off the stage this year, not just Aonuma. They definitely over-corrected. For a show about celebrating game creators and artists, they should actually give them a moment to speak instead of rushing them away for more ads.

Re: Square Enix Registers New 'Mana' Trademark

LexKitteh

Please do NOT be another mobile gatcha. I got really into the last one, Echoes of Mana, logged in every day since launch, before they shut it down in less than a year without even concluding the story. These are insulting at this point. Give us a real game with an actual conclusion.

Re: Talking Point: Which Zelda Game Should Be Adapted For The Movie?

LexKitteh

While I think they will likely do an original Zelda story, if a game is adapted, Ocarina of Time would be the best starting point. Future 3D Zelda games all have a sort of connection to OOT, if they adapt Majoras Mask, Wind Waker or Twilight Princess, having seen OOT will help strengthen those narratives as well.

Re: Poll: Do You Prefer Zelda: Wind Waker HD's Bloom Lighting Or The "Flat" OG?

LexKitteh

I'm glad people are speaking about this. I love and hate different aspects of Wind Waker HDs shading. It seems in "natural light" sources, like sunlight and moonlight, the shading looks beautiful and still cel-shaded. But when Link or other characters are in the shade or other light sources like torches, the cel-shadig disappears and ruins the art style. It's so strange because BOTW and TOTK both did Wind Waker-like cel sharing and everyone loved it. I feel Nintendo slightly changed WWHD's shading out of fear the west still didn't like it, but the world has come around to appreciate Wind Waker's shading. I hope the future ports retain the HD versions shading in sunlight/moonlight for all areas, and distinct circles in light from torches, etc.

Re: Takaya Imamura Expresses His Love For F-Zero 99, Awaits 'Revival Of The IP'

LexKitteh

As Tirza commented, the google translation may be a little off. The final sentence regarding the IP:
これを機にIPの復活を心から楽しみにしております。
I feel this is better translated as "I look forward to the opportunity for a revival of this IP from the bottom of my heart."
The kanji 復活 does indeed mean revival/resurrection, but it is proceeded by 機 meaning chance/opportunity. I read this as him being hopeful for the future, but not definitively stating anything will happen. I am not a fluent speaker however and have been studying as a hobby over many years.

Re: GameCube Classic Paper Mario: The Thousand-Year Door Is Heading To Switch

LexKitteh

I love Paper Mario - Thousand Year Door so much, but I am still adjusting to this new art style / lighting and shading style. I have been playing the GC original in Dolphin on my Steam Deck with HD texture packs, widescreen mods and uncensor mods and it looks incredible. I am not a fan of this new lighting.

Also the music did not need to be changed, it was perfect as it was.

Re: Poll: So, Will You Be Getting The Legend Of Zelda: Tears Of The Kingdom?

LexKitteh

I admit I haven't felt too excited about exploring the same world with presumably the same music and presentation, but I am a huge Zelda fan so I want to give it a chance. Really hoped for features like underwater exploration (like most 3D Zeldas) different aerial poses and combat while skydiving (like the patents showed) and animal taming (like Wolf Link Amiibo) but it seems they are going all in with the crafting instead. I hope it's more fun than it looks so far.

Re: Random: Pokémon Anime Shows What It Might Look Like Inside A Luxury Ball

LexKitteh

I still believe Pokemon are in stasis whenever they're in the PC or a Poke Ball. Which is a little messed up, their only existence is to be released to battle, and then frozen back in time.

In the anime, James had a carnivine as a kid, and he found the old PokeBall in his mansion a decade later, and it was fine. You'd think it'd have starved to death or something if it was conscious in there the whole time.

I do like how the manga shows they shrink down and look out at the world from within their PokeBall. Feels more like they are there journeying with you.

Re: Video: Looking Back On Animal Crossing: New Horizons Three Years Later

LexKitteh

I've loved this series and played all entries, but this entry felt so dull to me. So much of the furniture sets were cut in favor of crafting and customization. I've never cared about games like minecraft, which felt like who this catered too. And the villagers barely spoke before they started repeating themselves. Dialogue and writing in Nintendo games use to be witty, charming and funny. This one felt so lifeless. The villagers were just another collectible.

Re: Soapbox: As A Colour Blind Gamer, I Can Now Finally Beat Metroid Prime

LexKitteh

Thank you for sharing your story and also educating us on how color blindness can look and present itself to different people. I was glad to see this as an option in Metroid Prime when I checked the settings! This is definitely an area Nintendo has been far behind in. I wonder if color blindness is not very well understood in Japan? With their "don't stand out / don't rock the boat" culture, I wonder if it goes undiagnosed in many people.

Re: Feature: Rating The Best Zelda/Link Relationship In The Legend Of Zelda Games

LexKitteh

While I definitely agree that Skyward Sword was the most romantic relationship between Link and Zelda, I think I really liked the relationship and development shown between them in Breath of the Wild. Link being silent is canon - Zelda first feels ignored and frustrated that he won't give her the time of day and assumed he must look down on her, as she looks down on herself. But reading through her diary, you find they actually have a true conversation and she learns why he keeps himself silent. The Japanese version of the game also has all the shiekah slate quest entries written without any pronouns (no You or I) so it could be interpreted that the lines are written by Link himself (JP "I want to see her smile with my own two eyes again.." vs US "You must save her from her burden") showing that there is some sort of a relationship between them and Link's feelings on her and many other things. Localization is difficult and Japanese is already a vague language with thigs left up for interpretation.

Edit: I also understand why people may say Zelda is unlikeable or whiny in this game, the english dub and changes in script did not do her justice in my opinion.
