Re: Talking Point: What Game Do You Wish You Could Forget?

KoiTenchi

I’ve felt this way about Pokemon before. Nothing was quite like experiencing Red/Blue for the first time. Black/White with their all new Pokédex was the only thing that even slightly compared.

That being said, if I could erase all Pokemon knowledge from my mind, I’m not sure which Pokemon game I would want to then play first. Would I play Red/Blue? Fire Red/Leaf Green? Something else solid with a bit fuller of a Pokédex like Heart Gold/Soul Silver?

Re: Nintendo Download: 4th January (North America)

KoiTenchi

I was surprised to see “nothing for me this week” at 100% but then realized this was only posted 3 minutes ago. I’m still thinking that option is going to be among the highest it’s ever been though. It’s not an exciting Switch week though that’s totally understandable with the new years. I’m looking forward to some games later in the month though.

Re: Feature: Nintendo Life's Alternative Game Awards 2023

KoiTenchi

“Metroid Prime 4 will almost certainly take home the 2034 edition of this gong.”

I’m not sure whether or not 2034 was a typo here (as opposed to 2024) but unfortunately due to the amount of delays Metroid Prime 3 has already seen I’m kind of feeling there actually wasn’t a typo.

Re: Community: 22 Switch Games We Missed, As Recommended By You

KoiTenchi

@LinktotheFuture I’ve never had Dadish 1, 2 or 3 crash on me but recently got Daily Dadish and unfortunately did encounter a crash on that.

I’m not sure what to suggest except maybe resetting your Switch. It’s possible they have a memory leak, I remember experiencing that once with Pokemon Violet. I’m not certain though if that even is the issue here.

Re: Talking Point: What Are You Playing This Weekend? (July 1st)

KoiTenchi

It’s been interesting to see how much the percentage of people playing TOTK vs anything else goes down each week. I’ll be curious to see how much Pikmin picks up when that comes out (and how much more TOTK goes down) as I don’t think any one game will scoop up a bunch of people before then.

I’ve personally been playing some indies until Pikmin 4 comes out and am currently playing Flynn: Son of Crimson.

Re: Community: 22 Switch Games We Missed, As Recommended By You

KoiTenchi

@FishyS Somehow Harlow managed to miss my sights! I just watched a trailer (and also found your more in depth recommendation from the previous article when checking if Nintendolife had a review) and it definitely does look up my alley!

As far as Daily Dadish, admittedly while I’m aware of it I haven’t tried that one yet. I’m a little hesitant of the whole change to the daily system as well but would definitely still pick it up on a sale since all the Dadish games seem to go on sale pretty consistently but Daily Dadish has not yet since it’s so new. Unfortunately I’ve had a bit of trouble finding much extra info about the way it works.

Re: Talking Point: Which Gaming Moments Made You Question Your Intelligence?

KoiTenchi

I’m glad to see the Sonic Barrel on this list. I’d be questioning my own sanity if it wasn’t.

The only other similar thing which I remember made me feel I was crazy that isn’t on this list (but was mentioned in a different NintendoLife article in the past) is the Zelda puzzle on DS (I think it was Phantom Hourglass but it could be spirit tracks) where the solution was to close your DS. I don’t know how long I was trying to tap everything on the map or press every button.

Re: Nintendo Download: 2nd February (North America)

KoiTenchi

I’m curious about Daily Dadish and really hoping you guys do a review.

I really enjoyed all 3 previous games (though I got them all on sale since they always seemed pricey at full price for what they are) but I’m cautious about this based on the daily gimmick.

If you miss a level, do you have to wait a whole year to play it? I also feel like the daily gimmick might mean no bosses? I always liked how they handled the bosses so hopefully that’s not the case.

I also always found the writing at the end of each level to be one of the best things so hopefully the daily gimmick doesn’t sacrifice that either.

Re: Talking Point: In 2023, Do You Still Care About amiibo?

KoiTenchi

I was originally aiming for a full smash collection but once the DLC started and I was more indifferent to a bunch of DLC characters I stopped trying so much.

That being said, I’m completely open to still buying Amiibo to characters I really like. I also have found myself starting to approach them differently. When I first bought Amiibo it was yo use in Smash but now I’m approaching them more as nice figures for characters I like that I may or may not use in a game. For some of the less common characters, that’s a great thing too. For example, where else am I going to get a figure of Banjo and Kazooie? I mean, I think I saw one shown off at one point on NintendoLife that was a lot nicer but that was also like $400+.

Re: Poll: What Was The Best Wii U Launch Game?

KoiTenchi

I’m sure it wasn’t the intention but this article/list was depressing and based on the poll results it doesn’t seem it I’m the only one that felt that way.

It might had well have only left the choice between NSMBU, ZombiU and Nintendo Land.

Re: Sonic Frontiers On Switch Will Be The "Same Experience" As Other Platforms

KoiTenchi

Just want to say as far as comments about Sonic Colors:

I saw all the awful videos at release. It can’t be argued that it was atrocious.

That being said, I played it months later after a ton of patches and what exists now really isn’t bad at all. I had a lot of fun. Also they patched in an option for the original (arguably better) versions of the songs too so that helped a lot. The Colors soundtrack is awesome.

Re: Site News: So, Where's Our Harvestella Review?

KoiTenchi

@SwitchedOn_Games I very constantly see people complain that reviewers are making a review for a game they “clearly didn’t finish” and I’m sure if not for that NintendoLife would consider going that route. Which do you prefer? A day one review about only part of the game or a review not on day one that’s about the game as a whole?

Re: To The Moon Sequel 'Finding Paradise' Finally Launches On Switch This Month

KoiTenchi

I didn’t realize this was so close to release.

To The Moon was an amazingly great experience. I had seen all the great reviews (which is what convinced me to give it a chance) and then I still felt it was better than I ever expected. To The Moon is the first game I cried playing in years. If this is even half as good as To The Moon it’ll still be a great game.

Edit: I feel like I want to add even more here. When I played To The Moon, I was actually sick with Covid and quarantining alone. I was having a tough time physically and also mentally because it was putting a toll on me. As silly as it may sound since I cried from the story of To The Moon, I truly will never forget how it made me feel so many things in that tough time where I otherwise felt rather numb.

Re: Random: Pixel Artist Reimagines Paper Mario For Game Boy Advance

KoiTenchi

@Fizza the funny thing is over the course of reading your original comment I found I legitimately had totally mentally blocked out Sticker Star and I was going to mention “well he was in Paper Jam but admittedly that wasn’t a Paper Mario game as much as a crossover”

I guess even then Paper Jam is the most we’ll ever see Paper Mario on a portable though…

Re: Backlog Club: Portal 2 Made Me Feel Clever, Despite My Minor Case Of Serious Brain Damage

KoiTenchi

So glad Backlog Club is back! I still need to play Portal (I still want to wait for a sale) but still a great read and I’m excited for when I do play Portal.

As far as picking for the next game, I pulled a few I’ve yet to play from my backlog that I think could be a lot of fun for this:

Chicory: A Colorful Tale
Dicey Dungeons
Guacamelee! Super Turbo Championship Edition
The Messenger
Okami HD (I’m kind of embarrassed I still have never yet played Okami after all these years)
Spiritfarer
Steamworld Dig 2
TOEM
Unpacking
Wargroove
Turnip Boy Commits Tax Evasion

Re: Talking Point: What Do You Think Of The Harvestella Demo?

KoiTenchi

I was really curious about the concept and tried the demo but I honestly couldn’t even beat the demo itself. There is just SO MUCH dialogue. I get it for the full game but they really should have cut down on it for the demo to at least give you more chance to experience the gameplay. I don’t think I’ll even go back and finish the demo.

Re: Backlog Club: Portal's A Triumph - I'm Making A Note Here: HUGE SUCCESS

KoiTenchi

What happened to Backlog Club? (Sorry if I’m not supposed to talk about Backlog Club)

I really liked this idea and it looks like there was never an end of month wrap up for Portal for August or a vote for September’s game.

I’ve admittedly only personally taken place in Backlog Club for Hollow Knight (and loved it) because the other games either didn’t interest me or, in the case of Portal especially, did interest me but weren’t in my backlog since I’ve been waiting for a sale and buying a game for Backlog Club felt weird. I enjoyed reading all the articles though and was hoping to take part in more Backlog Club in the future.

Has Backlog Club been cancelled or is this just a case of life been getting in the way of the scheduling?
