@KingMike DS did have the best version of Battle Network 5 where you could mix and match characters from the other two versions. I’m a little sad we’re not getting that one.
Love the music. I forgot how good the old Paper Mario gameplay style was until recently replaying the original on Switch Online and then Bug Fables so this could be great too.
@EarthboundBenjy I actually just played through that too having gotten it through a recent sale and I’m glad to hear you say that because I had thought maybe it was just me. I grew up as a Nintendo kid and only really played Sega games later on through GameCube compilations and such and there was a ton I didn’t recognize.
I’ll never understand why companies think a portable system you can barely play portably is a good idea. Cloud gaming has still been hit and miss at home on the best of connections let alone if you try to travel with your portable and cloud game elsewhere.
A few months back I beat Bug Fables and I’m currently finally playing Hollow Knight so when I clicked this article and started viewing the video I couldn’t help think… when did video games starring bugs become so popular?
@nessisonett I was honestly trying to figure out if I was misreading/misunderstanding that and that perhaps this guy left the company because of higher ups bullying people but apparently the initial way I read it (that he was the bully) was correct all along.
Wargroove is one of those games on my backlog that I haven’t gotten around to yet and I never knew it had a dog general and unit. Now I’m even more excited.
This is a cute list / idea but I’m a little confused by calling this “the best cat games on Switch” when literally the second game on the list (Calico) got a 4/10 from NintendoLife. I’m not one to be a stickler for like 7/10 vs 8/10 but 4/10 is below average. Have there been a bunch of updates to it since then or anything? I’m admittedly not that familiar with the game.
I do know the first game on the list, Gato Roboto, is awesome though.
Ah, yes, we must be concerned about how Sora being in Smash reflects on Kingdom Hearts but why would we even lift an eyebrow at how releasing incredibly poor cloud versions of the KH games on Switch reflects on the series?
Whoa! I knew Dadish 3 was eventually going to be a thing but had no idea it was this soon. I just recently got the previous 2 on sale and completed them. Short basic games but just pure fun and laughs. I might wait for a sale but I’m definitely getting Dadish 3 at some point.
I had never heard of this before I got it on the 3DS eshop years ago. Even with no nostalgia for it at all I found it to be a really cute, though short, game. $45 for a physical version feels insane with how short it is, even if the glow cartridge looks cool, but I would recommend the 3DS version to anyone curious. That one is only $3.
By the time I got to the “will add NFTs” part of the title I couldn’t help having that “Stop! Stop! He’s already dead!” clip from the Simpsons playing in my head.
This continuous free updates strategy has to backfire on them at some point if it hasn’t already.
I certainly know for Mario Golf after how they handled tennis I saw no reason to purchase at release as you can literally wait 6 months for a sale and buy a more finished game for cheaper at that point which is what I did. I can’t see any reason to purchase at release here either when there will be more content for less money in the future.
I actually 100% this on Switch yesterday. When I first read about the bug I was considering waiting but just really was in the mood to relive Kirby 64 and I still sits really enjoy it.
I do have to say the bug was a real pain though and I probably would recommend others to wait. When I first saw the video last week I assumed this was something that had a very small chance of happening when you get hit in the water. From playing the game I have to say that I highly underestimated it. I want to say I encounter the bug probably 50% of the times I got hit while in water which is awful. I probably had to reset levels about 6-8 times because of it. Glad they’re fixing it but with how common it occurs I’m confused how they didn’t find this before pushing the game out.
I remember seeing this in a direct but never played it as it didn’t look my style that much. I legitimately thought it was free to play this whole time too.
I’m not sure why I thought this game didn’t have turn based combat from the old video I watched. It looks great either way though. Currently playing Bug Fables and could see playing this when it comes out too.
I guess this means their next Switch release will have the largest change of their legacy versions yet now that they have to change a few words on the title screen instead of just one number.
I never thought the NA box was anything particularly special so I was ready to pick the other one but once I saw the other box I realized the NA box is at least better than that.
Oof, Ollie’s remarks regarding the 3DS just pulled up my own memories about the 3DS that I guess I must have buried. At this point I LOVE my 3DS and it’s been a great system with a great line up but that launch was rough. I had Pilotwings and Shadow Wars and both were fun enough but neither particularly “wow”d me. A little after I remember loving getting to have OOT on the go and it looked GORGEOUS but at the end of the day it was still a game I had already played dozens of times before. I don’t remember honestly being super impressed with anything until Mario 3D Land and Kid Icarus launched (I’m forgetting which came first) but both were MONTHS after release.
I was really confused reading this. I honestly just assumed the game was going to have a physical version considering I saw the chart of the 4 of so different versions of the game. 4 digital versions is very silly.
@Matty1988 yeah, I couldn’t find a good way to phrase it without it sounding like bashing (and I like to give new developers a chance) but giving off a YIIK vibe is not a good quality in my book.
Edit: Didn’t even previously know about the NFT connection until I saw it in the comments here so that’s two strikes against the game now.
For a moment the April 1st launch date gave me pause to wonder if this is real or not but then I realized I’ve seen enough weird and cool Kirby food from Japan over the years that it would actually be weirder if this was a prank article.
I feel like I used to preorder a lot more than I do now. Nowadays a lot of times I just wait for sales post release. The only times I preorder now is when I’m 99% sure I’ll not only love the game but make the time to play it the same week it releases regardless of what else I’m playing because I’m so excited.
On that note, I preordered Kirby and am super excited. I think the last game I preordered before this was Arceus and I was happy with that preorder.
This looks interesting and I was interested when I first was under the impression it was coming to Switch but I don’t think I’d bother with finding my old gameboy for it. Maybe it’ll come to switch in the future.
To be fair I think there’s a possibility at some point the zodiac was something they were actually using for inspiration but now that we’re at Gen 8 and there’s only 12 animals in the zodiac anyways they’re realizing they need to start thinking about finding some fire starter inspiration outside of that.
I’m kind of surprised to see the excitement for this. I had this on N64 back in the day and it was honestly my least favorite of my N64 games. The physics are just a total mess a lot of the time and it’s not particularly fun as a result.
I’ve never played a Life is Strange game but it looks like something I might enjoy so I’ve been a little on the fence. Seeing the love and care that went into this Switch port makes me want to take the dive that much more though. That type of porting is definitely something I want to support.
Klonoa was definitely a favorite game for me when I was a kid and I never got around to playing Klonoa 2 for whatever reason so this is a definite buy!
@westman98 I literally came into the comments just to make sure someone posted some variation of this meme. I’ve never seen something it fit better with than this.
@ModdedInkling My later high school years our public library actually started offering video games but unfortunately the selection was so small it was barely worth doing. But I really liked the idea. I wish more public libraries did that.
Years ago I would have been really sad to hear this but with the way things are now the more I think about I’m not sure how much this changes.
Any game company that wants to put out a digital presentation in the summer is going to do it whether or not there’s a formal E3 to attach it to, Nintendo included. There’s also the separate show for Indies around the same time. It just doesn’t feel like cancelling digital E3 changes much when the companies don’t need E3 to present digitally themselves.
I’m glad they confirmed the US site is just “Nintendo.com”. I’ve been seeing this MyNintendo site where they offer you rewards based on the Switch games you buy but the “rewards” are basically just all PC wallpapers or mediocre discounts on super old 3DS and Wii U games! Very sneaky!

I’m surprised by the recommendation of Dragon: Marked for Death in the conclusion when that only got a 5/10 on here too. Has that game been updated a bit since the initial review? I was curious about that one but held off with the negative reviews.
