Maybe I'm crazy (since no one else has mentioned it) but to me it almost looks like something that would be part of the Ralts/Kirlia/Gardevoir line. Like an alternate baby or something.
I'm glad you acknowledged in the article that the review is still coming. I don't mind waiting and can wait patiently, it's just relieving to know you haven't missed or skipped reviewing this game!
This is the type of game where I feel your review will be really important to me! There's a number of other games I would get regardless but this is one that I'm really on the fence about. For the most part, I tend to find your reviews really helpful so I am looking forward to this one and I am sure it will influence whether or not I decide to purchase this game.
Hope to see it soon and glad to hear from all the previews so far that it does sound like the game is good!
Sounds like Devil's Third must be running on a really revolutionary new engine if it can give you a crappy frame rate and poor graphics by somehow detecting the player to be a bad player.
I don't expect a huge amount out of the weekly eshop updates but even I was disappointed with the original update. Half the time I find nowadays that I'm more excited about the sales and demos than the new stuff going up and I was really disappointed when it originally looked like there were no new sales this week.
Now I'm definitely going to download the Untold 2 demo and possibly Fairune for that discounted price.
Does anyone know if they ever fixed that issue I heard of way back where there's no sound from the gamepad if you play in off-TV mode? Were there other sort of glitches too that I'm forgetting or was it just that?
I was actually pretty worried by the title and subtitle that this was going to say that they removed the weapons triangle completely to further casualize the gameplay (which would be fine with me if it was the case in Phoenix Mode only but I'd be really annoyed if they forced that on all modes like they are doing with the removal of weapon durability).
From actually reading the topic after that though, the actual situation here, where they're really just changing up and adding to the weapons triangle a bit, doesn't neccesarily sound bad to me at all. It'll definitely throw me off at first and take a little getting used to but I almost feel that this could add more strategy rather than take strategy away like I was worried about. I'll have to reserve full judgement until I try it but it sounds like it could be an interesting change.
The fanart is not from the wrong game actually. It's just that it combines characters from BOTH Paper Mario on N64 (on the left) and characters from TTYD (on the right).
Anyways, as far as the rest of your comment, I'm iust as curious as you are, honestly...
I think I saw two frames of gameplay in that video, you two may have blinked.
All jokes aside though, I do agree with you two, that trailer does absolutely nothing for this game. They really should have gotten more gameplay in there
@drewb0203 I HIGHLY doubt anyone is buying an Amiibo JUST for Amiibo tap so I can't see how you can say the price of an Amiibo is "a waste" just because Amiibo Tap is unexciting.
Not to mention, anyone who already owns an Amiibo from anything else can use Amiibo Tap for free.
I haven't scanned any of my Amiibo into Mario Kart 8 yet since I don't usually play as Miis but I'm really really liking the way the Mega Man one looks.
@Gauchorino Honestly, I think you are correct about it being a mutual misunderstanding. I completely understand and am sorry as well if I became a bit overly defensive. I don't really want to continue to push it in that direction and I do fully feel at this point that neither of us meant any harm and accept your forgiveness competely. I am still kind of frustrated with some of the people who are suggesting censorship is the right answer to dealing with themes in games that they do not like (as opposed to simply not buying those games) but I do not think it helps anyone for me to continue to complain about that and I do not think it is right of me that I feel I misplaced a lot of that frustration on you after your first reply.
Sorry again and no disrespect. I think I will step away from this thread/article to not dwell on the whole topic. On the heels of that Nintendo Direct, I feel there are much more positive Nintendo-related things that I could focus on.
@Gauchorino If you read my post, you never would have made up some nonsense that I was supposedly "supporting censorship" by telling people that they do not have to buy the game if they do not want it but also should not try to have it removed from the eshop (which several of them suggested or implied they wanted). Because what I was suggesting was literally the OPPOSITE of supporting censorship. I mean, I thank you for your apology for your overlooking of MrMario002's statement but I am going to need some type of explanation or apology of your slandering me and trying to say I am pro-censorship because I am completely aganist that.
And to help you out with another example, here's one from Barbiegurl777:
"More so appauled at Nintendo for them even letting it get this far to where the game developer can even publish this garbage."
I'm assuming I don't have to explain the above quote but she is outright saying she is offended Nintendo did NOT censor this game and deny it being released.
It's clear he was NOT using "figurative language" because he not only made the first post I mentioned but also followed it up with a second post saying: "There is no room in the gaming space for the demonizing of organized religion."
He truly believes this game should not exist and that there is no room in the gaming space for it.
He was not the only one either but I am not going to go through 100+ posts a SECOND time just to pull quotes for you when it was clear you didn't even read my very post that you responded to.
You said in your post: "People have a right to express their opinions and distaste about anything, just as you have the right to disagree with them and challenge their views. However, when you try keep them quiet by pinning something on them that isn't indicative of what they've been saying, you are guilty of the same thing you criticize others for: censorship."
Did you not read my post?
In my post I stated simply: "If you don't want to buy something then, by all means, don't buy it."
I am not trying to force people to like this game or even to buy it. I am AGREEING that people have a right to express their opinions and distaste but this game has a right to exist just like those people have a right to dislike it. What those people DON'T have is a right to try to decide the game has no right to exist and that thus NO ONE should be able to play it.
If I wanted to do what these people were trying to do, I would instead have simply responded to your comment with: "I disagree with your post, please remove it." That would be censorship.
I'm absolutely shocked how many people in this comments section are pro-censorship for art forms and aganist freedom of speech.
If you don't want to buy something then, by all means, don't buy it. To try to say it has "no artistic right to exist" or something to that degree is simply disgusting though.
Hope you don't like reading books, watching TV or playing video games whatsoever, because if we follow the ideals you're pushing forward we may as well get rid of all of those mediums in their entirety right now.
That's one of those games that I absolutely would have paid the full $10 for but didn't because I simply had (and still have) way too big of a backlog but I know I'm going to want to play it whenever I can finally get around to it so for that price so I'll absolutely pick it up now.
I'm still on the fence about Moon Chronicles since FPS games tend to be hit or miss for me but I'm still considering that too.
Elliot Quest also looks good but unfortunately is probably going to fall in the same scenario that Xeodrifter fell in. I feel I'm going to want to play it eventually but it's hard to justify buying it right now with the big backlog. If there's ever a sale, that's one of those ones I would jump on immediately though. I'll still keep an eye out for the Nintendo Life review on it to make sure there's no surprises about it not being good but I get the feeling it's quite good from what I've seen.
I've actually been a little mixed on this game as far as the gameplay. It looks good to me, but not great.
What I'm really really liking though is that music. I swear between Nintendolife and the eshop, I must have watched that trailer about 10 times now just so that I can listen to that music. Serious props to whoever is doing the music for this.
Honestly, even though the gameplay just looks good and not great to me, I'm really thinking on buying this game between that and the amazing music.
@DracioKoi I did too when I first read the headline really fast on the main page. I was really confused since the image on the main page by the headline looked like a FPS so I thought it was an FPS based on 50 Shades of Grey which made no sense to me.
@CaviarMeths Literally directly from the page you just linked:
"Amazon has it available for $20.99. With a list price of $34.99, Amazon can save you 40%! Jump for more information from Amazon on this steal of a deal."
AKA Amazon had a special deal where they offered it for $21. The MSRP in the US was and still is $35 which is exactly what I said.
@Grumblevolcano that was honestly really underhanded and disgusting of them with Xenoblade on Wii (I still can't believe they were selling New copies as Used just to be able to increase the price and profit) but I'm not sure what this has to do with this article where everything is at MSRP.
@CaviarMeths I didn't realize you were talking Canadian cost. I was talking US cost and MSRP. I am sure there is a difference in MSRP So we may very well both be right but I can see why there would be a disconnect.
@Chicagoway And on this deal, nothing is over retail price.
I had just added to my original post so I understand if you missed it but tell me, would you go to a store having a "Buy 1, Get 1 Free" deal on 3DS games and expect to get a 3DS game for free and explain "but I only wanted the one game for free, why should I have to pay for the other game?"
@Grumblevolcano or, you know, if you want to be make an actual legitimate comparison and not overexaggerate things it would be more like: "Next GameStop deal coming up: Xenoblade Chronicles 3D and Shulk Amiibo for $53!"
@Chicagoway This deal comes with the 3DS with the guide, the 4 games and the amiibos. You're not paying $500 just for the system.
If you're saying you'd prefer to pay $500 for just the Majora's Mask 3DS XL and not be burdened with the 4 games, guide or amiibos, then I've seen plenty of deals for that on eBay but that is not the deal that GameStop is doing.
Would you go to a store having a "Buy 1, Get 1 Free" deal on 3DS games and expect to get a 3DS game for free and explain "but I only wanted the one game for free, why should I have to pay for the other game?"
@CaviarMeths The Majora's Mask guide included in the deal is specifically the collectors edition, not the regular. The regular version has an MSRP of $25 but the collectors has an MSRP of $35. The collectors version actually isn't even available from Amazon direct right now and the minimum amount you can get it from there from a third party seller is a little over $50.
@Spoony_Tech I've been doing a lot of Amiibo hunting and have found some stores have just one or two Toon Links or Shieks while a number of other stores have none at all. Everything else I would totally agree with you iis quite common but I would say those two are at least "uncommon" since I feel there's a pretty good chance they won't be in the first store a person would randomly walk in but can be found when you start to go to a number of different stores. Of course I'll freely admit those figures are nowhere near as rare as something like King Dedede or Ike who I've never even seen on a store shelf at all.
But yeah, everything else besides Toon Link and Shiek I could totally believe is overstock.
@Spoony_Tech I have no idea where that $941 number came from, but I just checked MSRP for everything and it literally comes out to exactly $499.
Majora's Mask New 3DS $200 Collector's guide for Majora $35 Four 3DS games ($40 each for a total of $160) 8 amiibo ($13 each for a total of $104)
Considering you're paying the exact price all of this would go separately, I'd say this is a decent enough deal for those interested in it considering you're not likely to find the Majora New 3DS for MSRP anywhere else. A couple of those Amiibo are honestly not super easy to find for MSRP either at this point though they are certainly among the more common ones honestly and a LOT easier to find then the Majora new 3DS.
I've gotta admit, I've been enjoying this game more than I thought I would. It works great in short bursts between Majora's Mask sessions or when I simply don't have the time to get into something more intensive like Majora in general. I have yet to spend a penny on this game and never will (and haven't even used the free jewels the game gives you yet) but I'm enjoying it for what it is.
That being said I was a little disappointed after reading the article here. I was actually a little excited when I saw the headline thinking this was some update with new event pokemon or special stages. I have to agree with the other people who are saying this is basically just a patch.
"Developer Ninja Pig Studios, though it updated its official website to change the game's product information - no longer saying available on Wii U, a link for a free PC and Mac download was actually a Rickroll."
I noticed the article mentioned this as the developer trolling, and while I'm sure that was the kid behind meme run's intention, I'm not completely sure I would call it that. I mean, essentially what he did was put up a link and said it led to a useless half-assed game but then instead had the link lead to an (admittedly increasingly annoying) song which easily had 100 times the effort put into it.
Hopefully they do this out west too. I never even saw a Captain Falcon on shelves and I only saw villager literally the first day Amiibo came out and I didn't think to buy it then since he wasn't a favorite character and I didn't want to grab too many at once.
That's alright, PewDiePew is at the bottom of my list.
Keep in mind this is the same guy who recently banned comments on ALL his videos. The guy doesn't even care about his fans or what they have to say, only the views and thus ad revenue and cash that they bring to the table.
@beautifulstrong good question. I guess you're right that it isn't nice to talk bad about someone else's game if you can't do better...
So considering your last comment on a Nintendolife article before this was (in regards to Mario Party Island Tour) "Island tour was horrible. A sign that mario party is now doomed to be boring from now on. SAD!!!"... When are you planning to release your own party game that's better?
I always wondered if they were going to do more elements but Light and Dark seems a little silly to me since I thought Light and Dark were already supposed to be covered, at least to some extent, by Life and Undead.
Can't complain too much though, Knight Mare looks pretty cool.
Also, out of curiosity, I haven't played Trap Team yet, but were these characters visible in game through trailers like the rest of the characters have always been in the Skylanders games or is this a complete surprise announcement?
@GeminiSaint I've seen this video about 5 times now and I still feel the same way I felt the first time I saw this video:
It's a great example of why Ridley wouldn't work. Maybe that's why you posted it though.
In the video, not only is he 3 times the length of Samus and probably 1.5 times the height, but his range, power and speed are broken.
I guess you could cut the length of his wings and tail in half to lower his range but then he basically won't even look like Ridley anymore. I guess maybe people just want the NES Metroid sprite of Ridley playable though. I doubt it though, as I bet 90% of Ridley supporters would call bloody murder if Sakurai made the NES sprite playable but that has workable ratios of wings to body to actually work.
As far as people saying that Olimar changed size, note that Olimar changed SIZE but he didn't change, say, the size ratio between his arms and his body whereas Ridley would HAVE to change the size ratio between his wings and his body.
I've got both systems as well and my Vita currently has no charge because I frankly haven't had any reason to even charge it in quite a long time because I was never using it.
I really enjoyed Gravity Rush but not all that much else besides a few indie games that only set me back a few dollars and only lasted a few hours.
Basically, Sony can tell me the Vita is better than the 3DS all they want, but I'm not going to believe it until they actually SHOW me it with some solid and constant quality releases.
Seriously, is Sony even still supporting it? When and what is their next big game for it? I seriously haven't got a clue.
A lot of people are complaining, but I'm really excited. This is the best month I've seen in the past 6 or so.
There are 3 or 4 games I will be picking up (namely Startropics II, Kirby's Dream Course, Kersploosh, and maybe Mabooshi's Arcade.
A lot of these are very good (as you can see from the reviews they linked if you aren't familiar with these games) so it's silly to complain just because most of these aren't some really super well known game like Super Mario World.
Honestly, IMO, they're better off putting games like these up there anyways since most everyone already owns games like Super Mario World and then would complain about that. It also helps some of Nintendo's lesser games get more exposure.
It's funny, I haven't played Brawl in a while, but I was just thinking about the Castle Siege level the other day! I absolutely love that level, especially the "starting" version of it. Glad to see it back!
I think it mainly especially holds a place in my mind because it's the first Fire Emblem stage that the smash series got!
@Diddy_kong the average gamer knew who Marth and Roy were when Melee came out and their the Fire Emblem series had never even come to the US yet those same people don't know who Shulk is when his game came out in the US 2 years ago AND americans has made a MASSIVE petition to bring it over?
LOL. I mean, I'm not saying Shulk is SUPER popular, and I'm sure there are people who don't know him but LOL.
I couldn't care less what characters you like and don't like but how DARE you wish death on someone for not making this game SPECIFICALLY TO YOUR REQUESTS.
Seriously absolutely disgusting.
By the way, on a seperate note, and I know this may be absolutely mind blowing to you, but Nintendo makes more than just Pokemon and Mario games.
The art in this reminds me a lot of the Professor Layton games.
I'm not too sure about a game where all the gameplay is connecting the dots though and obviously the review doesn't give me too much hope in this game.
Can you imagine being able to buy a game, play it for a week or so, then sell it for more than it cost you because more and more people are getting determined to specifically buy used?
I'm in.
Hopefully GameStop doesn't catch wind and start opening games and cranking up the price.
...though that already had happened previously with Xenoblade. Maybe they were already on to something back then.

@Megumi Huh... Was it a monster thing like this or did that boss look like a person?
I'm not sure if telling me just that is some sort of spoiler.
I've yet to play the first one but it's on my list of one of those things I would consider if I saw it on sale.
Re: Senran Kagura 2: Deep Crimson Bursts Out Onto European Shelves At The End Of August
What in the world... Am I crazy or did that monster they were fighting in the trailer also just have breasts and jiggle physics?

I was planning to get that as soon as I saw a sale but I wasn't expecting a sale to be aware near that big for it! I'm all over that.

@allav866 even though I've beaten that game several times now, I had no idea what you were talking about.

That's... Interesting. I guess in game it really isn't that noticeable admittedly since it's split over several screens

@Grumblevolcano that was honestly really underhanded and disgusting of them with Xenoblade on Wii (I still can't believe they were selling New copies as Used just to be able to increase the price and profit) but I'm not sure what this has to do with this article where everything is at MSRP.
Re: GameStop Lists Crazy Majora's Mask New Nintendo 3DS XL 'Massive Bundle' for $500, Sells Out Almost Instantly
@CaviarMeths I didn't realize you were talking Canadian cost. I was talking US cost and MSRP. I am sure there is a difference in MSRP So we may very well both be right but I can see why there would be a disconnect.
Re: GameStop Lists Crazy Majora's Mask New Nintendo 3DS XL 'Massive Bundle' for $500, Sells Out Almost Instantly
Re: GameStop Lists Crazy Majora's Mask New Nintendo 3DS XL 'Massive Bundle' for $500, Sells Out Almost Instantly
@Grumblevolcano or, you know, if you want to be make an actual legitimate comparison and not overexaggerate things it would be more like: "Next GameStop deal coming up: Xenoblade Chronicles 3D and Shulk Amiibo for $53!"
Re: GameStop Lists Crazy Majora's Mask New Nintendo 3DS XL 'Massive Bundle' for $500, Sells Out Almost Instantly
Re: GameStop Lists Crazy Majora's Mask New Nintendo 3DS XL 'Massive Bundle' for $500, Sells Out Almost Instantly
Re: GameStop Lists Crazy Majora's Mask New Nintendo 3DS XL 'Massive Bundle' for $500, Sells Out Almost Instantly
Re: GameStop Lists Crazy Majora's Mask New Nintendo 3DS XL 'Massive Bundle' for $500, Sells Out Almost Instantly
@Spoony_Tech I have no idea where that $941 number came from, but I just checked MSRP for everything and it literally comes out to exactly $499.
Majora's Mask New 3DS $200
Collector's guide for Majora $35
Four 3DS games ($40 each for a total of $160)
8 amiibo ($13 each for a total of $104)
Considering you're paying the exact price all of this would go separately, I'd say this is a decent enough deal for those interested in it considering you're not likely to find the Majora New 3DS for MSRP anywhere else. A couple of those Amiibo are honestly not super easy to find for MSRP either at this point though they are certainly among the more common ones honestly and a LOT easier to find then the Majora new 3DS.
Re: Free-To-Play Puzzler Pokémon Shuffle Gets Updated To Version 1.1.1
I've gotta admit, I've been enjoying this game more than I thought I would. It works great in short bursts between Majora's Mask sessions or when I simply don't have the time to get into something more intensive like Majora in general. I have yet to spend a penny on this game and never will (and haven't even used the free jewels the game gives you yet) but I'm enjoying it for what it is.
That being said I was a little disappointed after reading the article here. I was actually a little excited when I saw the headline thinking this was some update with new event pokemon or special stages. I have to agree with the other people who are saying this is basically just a patch.
Re: Copyright Owner of 'Trollface' Image Explains Role in Getting Meme Run Taken Down
"Developer Ninja Pig Studios, though it updated its official website to change the game's product information - no longer saying available on Wii U, a link for a free PC and Mac download was actually a Rickroll."
Re: New amiibo Stock for Villager, Captain Falcon and Little Mac Heading to Japan in May
Hopefully they do this out west too. I never even saw a Captain Falcon on shelves and I only saw villager literally the first day Amiibo came out and I didn't think to buy it then since he wasn't a favorite character and I didn't want to grab too many at once.
Re: YouTube Stars Aren't Happy With Nintendo's Revenue-Sharing 'Creators Program'
That's alright, PewDiePew is at the bottom of my list.
Keep in mind this is the same guy who recently banned comments on ALL his videos. The guy doesn't even care about his fans or what they have to say, only the views and thus ad revenue and cash that they bring to the table.
Re: Video: TreeFall Studios Releases Its First Ever Developers Conference
@beautifulstrong good question. I guess you're right that it isn't nice to talk bad about someone else's game if you can't do better...
So considering your last comment on a Nintendolife article before this was (in regards to Mario Party Island Tour) "Island tour was horrible. A sign that mario party is now doomed to be boring from now on. SAD!!!"... When are you planning to release your own party game that's better?
Re: Activision Expands Skylanders Line-Up With New Elements
I always wondered if they were going to do more elements but Light and Dark seems a little silly to me since I thought Light and Dark were already supposed to be covered, at least to some extent, by Life and Undead.
Can't complain too much though, Knight Mare looks pretty cool.
Also, out of curiosity, I haven't played Trap Team yet, but were these characters visible in game through trailers like the rest of the characters have always been in the Skylanders games or is this a complete surprise announcement?
Re: Sakurai Explains Why Ridley Is Not A Playable Fighter In Super Smash Bros.
Re: Sony: PS Vita Is Better Than 3DS And The Wii Brand Is A "Shadow Of Its Former Self"
@MegaManEP3 it's definitely not just you. : (
I've got both systems as well and my Vita currently has no charge because I frankly haven't had any reason to even charge it in quite a long time because I was never using it.
Re: Game Freak Confirms That The Pokémon Stadium Series Is On Hiatus
The graphics and all were nice for the time compared to the Game Boy for sure...
But I'm more going to miss the Gym Leader Tower.
I'm not sure why they've never had that anywhere besides the two stadiums.
Battle Revolution always felt really empty to me because they didn't have anything like that and also didn't even have full rental pokemon choices.
Re: The Club Nintendo Rewards for October Have Been Confirmed
Re: Feature: A Week of Super Smash Bros. Wii U and 3DS Screens - Issue Fifty Six
Re: Video: Super Street Fighter Monopoly Ultimate EX Champion Edition Alpha Plus VS Nintendo Life
I'm really confused reading the article.
Is the board game just called "Street Fighter Monopoly" or is it called "Super Street Fighter Monopoly Ultimate EX Champion Edition Alpha Plus".
I really really kind of hope it's the second but I thought that may have just been you guys joking around.
Re: Xenoblade's Shulk Confirmed For Super Smash Bros. During Japanese Nintendo Direct
Re: Xenoblade's Shulk Confirmed For Super Smash Bros. During Japanese Nintendo Direct
@xj0462 ...do you SERIOUSLY not see why it's disgusting to wish death on someone?
That's not "just your opinion".
Just stop.
Re: Xenoblade's Shulk Confirmed For Super Smash Bros. During Japanese Nintendo Direct
@xj0462 what an absolutely disgusting comment.
Re: Review: Mysterious Stars: A Fairy Tale (DSiWare)
The art in this reminds me a lot of the Professor Layton games.
I'm not too sure about a game where all the gameplay is connecting the dots though and obviously the review doesn't give me too much hope in this game.
But still, I like the art.
Re: The Club Nintendo Reward Details Are In For August
@WaLzgi
That would be awesome honestly.
