@Grumblevolcano That doesn't account for Age of Imprisonment or their early 2026 games, at least one of which will surely be either Rhythm Heaven or Tomodachi Life.
The big thing with Switch 2 was that we'd get to see heavier hitting 3rd party titles... and this had largely the same stuff that we saw on Switch 1.
They knocked out the 2 most obvious ports (Sparking Zero, P3R) and then had Kiwami 2 and Cronos, but nothing super major past that as far as ports go. Weak showing for your 2 month old console port wise.
Also, what was the point of showing Age of Imprisonment just to show another teaser with no release date??
Not surprised. You're buying a $450-$500 system not including tax, and then any accessories to go with it. In today's economy that's a lot to ask, most won't have much money left over for games, and if they do they're gonna buy Mario Kart, not full priced ports of titles they've played elsewhere for cheaper.
Also, the key card thing isn't that big of a factor, and won't be long term. Most general consumers aren't aware of what a game key card is nor do they care. It will have played a role in the weak launch sales though, as people who pick up a system at launch aren't the general consumer; they're the more dedicated enthusiast who are well informed.
I have a preorder from Walmart arriving tomorrow! Ordered a screen protector from Amazon but not planning on any other accessories just yet. Will be grabbing Mario Kart of course
Glad to see the progress they're making! Appreciate Nintendo's transparency and proactiveness regarding the BC issues.
Hopefully Nier Automata gets patched soon. Also surprised to see that Pizza Tower is getting patched soon, as I assumed that one would take a while due to the studio most likely not having a dev kit yet
Switch should surpass DS and thus become Nintendo's best selling system ever sometime this summer, probably in July/August so we'll hear about it in October. As for beating PS2's record, based on their estimate I'd say Switch is going to absolutely crawl to that record. We'll see if it can get there.
As for Switch 2, it should have no problem meeting that estimate so long as the price of the system remains as is. If tariffs cause a price increase in the US, then it will probably fall short.
Yeah both my gf and I tried but all three websites were not working so we struck out on preorders entirely.
My local GameStop doesn't open until noon so I'll try my luck in store, but otherwise I'll have to hope for an invite from Nintendo or try my luck getting one on launch day
It's pretty obviously the Odyssey team. I can see why they wouldn't want to confirm that though, as it would imply that the next 3D Mario is likely years away still (as in, it will be a 2nd half of the generation release probably around the same time as the next 3D Zelda)
Seems reasonable. I've already had my fill of these games so I most likely won't purchase the upgrades. The Kirby and Mario Party upgrades I'll grab no questions asked though, especially Kirby as it seemed quite expansive.
I think if they priced Mario Kart at $70, the vast majority of the backlash would be non existent.
That being said, all of the "Nintendo has lost the magic, they only care about greed and shareholders!" is a bunch of sensationalist BS. Newsflash: they were always about the money, even during Iwata's tenure. They were always greedy, just like any other corporation out there. There is no such thing as a "pro consumer" move - if it's done in the name of making more profit, then it's not pro consumer, it's just optics.
I'm interested in Mario Kart World (via the bundle), DK Bananza, and Metroid Prime 4 primarily. Those games are absolute musts. Will also grab Yakuza 0 and the upgrades for Kirby and Mario Party. Oh and I plan to finally upgrade to the Expansion Pack, so that's GameCube games as well as GBA/N64/Genesis.
Whether I get Switch 2 at launch is dependent on what happens to the price in the US. I can do the announced price, but too much more and I'll have to wait.
@Old-Red This is not true. Only some games have the Key Card, not all of them. Nintendo's 1st party titles for example are regular carts, same with Cyberpunk.
The Game Key cards are a replacement to Switch 1's code in a box
Will be very curious to see how well Switch 2 does in the long run. I don't expect a flop, but I expect it to struggle to meet Switch's success. Guessing 90-100 million lifetime sales
Biggest takeaway is that Switch 2 is definitely launching before the end of June, or else they'd have zero 1st party releases for an ENTIRE financial quarter. That would not go over well with their shareholders at all, let alone with the fans
This app makes a lot of sense. They created the Nintendo Direct originally as a way to share news directly to the consumer because traditional media sites kept muddy-ing up their messaging during the late Wii/DS era and the 3DS's launch. But they still made announcements themselves on social media platforms (primarily Twitter).
In the time since then, social media in general has become a clusterf*ck in the age of the "algorithm", with fake news, engagement bait, click bait, and rumor mongering run rampant. Twitter has become especially toxic.
This app allows them to skip all of that, not rely on social media and give those announcements directly in their own feed on their own platform. It also doubles as a sort of spiritual successor to the Smash Dojo. Oh, and you get all news in one place rather than having to follow multiple accounts for things like tournaments or mobile game events.
@Grumblevolcano You really can't get past the idea that they'd announce a set of games for Switch 1 and then announce a separate set of games for Switch 2, can you?
Switch 1 games will be released alongside Switch 2 games, just as 3DS games launched alongside Switch games. And no, Switch 2 being backwards compatible doesn't change that.
To everybody commenting "no 3rd party games at launch".... where did you read that?
The article quite clearly says that the launch will be focused primarily on 1st party titles, not exclusively. There will of course be 3rd party titles from major publishers like Square Enix and Microsoft on day 1, but Nintendo's 1st party titles will naturally be the main focus.
As for the dev kits, the article does a poor job explaining that bit. It most likely means that dev kits will become widely available in June and not just to the major AAA publishers who have had them for ages.

Re: More Switch Games Receive Compatibility Updates For Switch 2
@WaveBoy No, that would require the developer to patch the game itself to support that.
This was simply a fix in the system's translation layer used for BC that fixed the issues with these particular games.
Re: Nintendo Switch 2 System Update 21.0.1 Is Now Live, Here Are The Full Patch Notes
Wonder if this fixed the issues with BDSP that were introduced with the last update
Re: Surprise! A New "Free-To-Start" Fire Emblem Game Is Out On Mobile Devices Today
Well that was out of nowhere.
Re: Poll: When The Heck Is Metroid Prime 4 Actually Launching?
I'm thinking it'll be early November.
Re: Nintendo Music Update Adds More Songs To Kirby And The Forgotten Land Playlist
@Sylamp Just means they'll add them in another week, meaning this game gets 3 separate weeks lol
Re: Rumour: A Nintendo Direct Is Reportedly Coming Ahead Of Mario's 40th Anniversary
@Grumblevolcano That doesn't account for Age of Imprisonment or their early 2026 games, at least one of which will surely be either Rhythm Heaven or Tomodachi Life.
Re: Shenmue III Is Finally Confirmed For 'Nintendo Platforms'
Obviously it's coming to Switch 3
Re: Talking Point: What Are You Playing This Weekend? (16th August)
I'll be playing DK Bananza. The game is absolutely fantastic so I'm taking my time with it.
Re: We Might Be Getting An Update About Sakurai's New Kirby Game Soon
@RemyMartin It's only been 2 and a half months. Chill out lol the games will come.
Re: Nightdive Studios Reveal "Definitive" Re-Release Of 'Heretic + Hexen' On Switch
Awesome news. It has 4K and 120fps support on the other platforms, so hopefully this receives a Switch 2 patch for that at some point
Re: Nintendo Direct Partner Showcase July 2025: Every Announcement, Game Reveal, Trailer
Very underwhelming Direct.
The big thing with Switch 2 was that we'd get to see heavier hitting 3rd party titles... and this had largely the same stuff that we saw on Switch 1.

Re: Poll: So, Will You Be Getting Super Mario Party Jamboree For Switch 2?
No, I think I'll save my $20 for the Kirby upgrade instead.
Re: Pokémon Legends: Z-A Is Getting Its Very Own Switch 2 Bundle
If it wasn't clear before, it should be clear now that Pokémon Legends ZA is the big holiday game.
Re: More Switch Titles Get Switch 2 Backwards Compatibility Fixes
The Marvel vs Capcom Collection has also been updated, and is now available to purchase on the Switch 2 eShop.
Re: Third-Party Launch Games On Switch 2 Reportedly Sold "Very Low Numbers"
Not surprised. You're buying a $450-$500 system not including tax, and then any accessories to go with it. Re: Switch 2 Is Nintendo's Biggest UK Console Launch Of All Time
Always found it interesting how the different European countries have such differing markets.
Re: Poll: So, Did You Order A Nintendo Switch 2?
I have a preorder from Walmart arriving tomorrow! Ordered a screen protector from Amazon but not planning on any other accessories just yet. Will be grabbing Mario Kart of course
Re: New Yakuza 0 Opening Movie Builds The Hype For Switch 2 Launch
I honestly don't care about the game key card - I would've bought the digital version anyways.
Looking forward to playing it when I get the chance.
Re: Nintendo Updates Switch 2 Backwards Compatibility List

Hopefully Nier Automata gets patched soon. Also surprised to see that Pizza Tower is getting patched soon, as I assumed that one would take a while due to the studio most likely not having a dev kit yet
Re: Talking Point: Are You Excited At All For Switch 2 GameChat?
I feel like Nintendo's more dedicated fanbase are more likely to be single player oriented compared to Xbox or PlayStation, and thus won't use it.
I don't plan on ever using it.
Re: Rumour: New Leak May Explain Why So Many Switch 2 Physicals Are Game Key Cards
The future is all digital.
Re: Virtua Fighter 5 R.E.V.O. Announced For Switch 2
@HugoGED @Anti-Matter From what I understand this is a digital only release across all platforms, so no Game Key Card here.
Re: Nintendo Expects To Sell 15 Million Switch 2 Consoles This Financial Year

Re: Xbox's Latest Multiplatform Release Has Been Announced
I suspect this will come to Switch 2 as well, just not day and date because of logistical reasons.
Re: Madden NFL 26 Confirmed For Switch 2, But College Football Isn't In The Starting Lineup
You might want to update the article again. The pre-order link on Nintendo's website for the digital version says it's $69.99, not $79.99
Re: Poll: So, Did You Manage To Get A Switch 2 Pre-Order In? (North America)
Yeah both my gf and I tried but all three websites were not working so we struck out on preorders entirely.
My local GameStop doesn't open until noon so I'll try my luck in store, but otherwise I'll have to hope for an invite from Nintendo or try my luck getting one on launch day
Re: New Madden & College Football Games Revealed, But Switch 2 Isn't In The Starting Lineup
Wario64 had posted a link to an Amazon preorder for a Switch 2 version of Madden (it's a game key card).
Re: Nintendo Switch 2 US Pre-Orders Start 24th April, System & Launch Game Pricing Unchanged
Good to know the price of the console won't be going up at launch. Hyped for the system!!
Those accessory prices sting, but I wasn't planning on grabbing any at launch anyways other than a screen protector.
Re: Uh Oh, It Looks Like Select Switch 2 Games Won't Support Cloud Saves
Sounds like a website error most likely, given it's not on the Japanese page.
Not gonna stop the internet from being melodramatic though
Re: "Nintendo Has Been A Great Partner" - Phil Spencer Reiterates Switch 2 Support
I'm sure the next game revealed will be CoD 2025. For ports of existing games... maybe at the Xbox Showcase in June? Or at a Nintendo Direct?
Re: Nintendo Won't Reveal Donkey Kong's Switch 2 Dev, But We Might Already Know
It's pretty obviously the Odyssey team. I can see why they wouldn't want to confirm that though, as it would imply that the next 3D Mario is likely years away still (as in, it will be a 2nd half of the generation release probably around the same time as the next 3D Zelda)

Re: Talking Point: What Are You Playing This Weekend? (5th April)
Sonic x Shadow Generations and Onimusha Warlords for me!
Re: Community: Which Switch 2 Games Are You Wishlisting?

Will be very curious to see how well Switch 2 does in the long run. I don't expect a flop, but I expect it to struggle to meet Switch's success. Guessing 90-100 million lifetime sales
Re: Bravely Default Is Finally Freed From Its 3DS Prison, Coming To Switch 2 At Launch
Square Enix using a game key card for this when Cyberpunk is completely on cart is indefensible.
That being said, at $40 the digital version should be an attractive option at launch considering the prices of other Switch 2 games
Re: Which Nintendo Switch Games Aren't Fully Compatible With Switch 2?
Glad to see them being transparent about this. I'm sure we'll see the issues get actively resolved.
Re: Switch 2 Games Cost A Bit More Than You're Probably Expecting
$70 was expected for most games. Not happy about it, but expected it.
$80 for Mario Kart though.... ouch.
Re: Nintendo Treehouse Returns This Week With Two Presentations On Switch 2 Gameplay
According to the calendar on Nintendo Today, the first day is 4 hours long, and the second day is 3 hours.
We're getting a TON of gameplay
Re: Poll: So, How Would You Rate The Nintendo Direct For March 2025?

Re: Nintendo Direct Confirmed For Tomorrow, 27th March 2025
Expecting Prime 4, Planet Robobot Deluxe, Professor Layton, and DQ1+2 HD2D at the very least.
Hoping for at least one of the Zelda remasters and Prime 2+3 HD.
Re: Talking Point: Nintendo Direct Predictions - What Do You Want To See?
@Grumblevolcano You really can't get past the idea that they'd announce a set of games for Switch 1 and then announce a separate set of games for Switch 2, can you?
Switch 1 games will be released alongside Switch 2 games, just as 3DS games launched alongside Switch games. And no, Switch 2 being backwards compatible doesn't change that.
Re: Nintendo Direct Confirmed For Tomorrow, 27th March 2025
TWO DIRECTS IN THE SPAN OF A WEEK!!!

Re: Nintendo Music Adds 23 Kirby Switch Songs, With Rest Coming "Later This Year"
This is a weird decision. Gotta be some sort of reason for it
Re: Rumour: A Switch 1 Direct Presentation May Take Place This Week
Sounds like an Indie World presentation. Been a while since we've had one and it ultimately would be harmless timing wise.
Re: Capcom Slashes The Price Of Monster Hunter, Ace Attorney In Big eShop Sale (US)
Is it just me or does it feel like publishers are trying to get in one more big sale on their games before gold points go away?
