Splatoon 3 for me!!!

Very very solid sales for a remake of a super niche, previously Japan only SNES title that launched only a week before Xenoblade 3.

I'd argue that they're doing more to justify Splatoon 3's existence than they did for Splatoon 2 at launch.

@MysticX They dropped update support for ACNH because the dev team had moved on to Splatoon 3.

Wind Waker HD should be a bigger priority than Twilight Princess HD in my opinion. That game has only had two official releases - the original on GameCube, and the remaster on Wii U.... Nintendo's two least successful home consoles. That game deserves a bigger audience on Switch.

With Kirby out of the way, I've finally got some time for my backlog. I'll be playing Bayonetta 1 to start out with, as I want to finish it and 2 before Bayo 3 releases.

May is a dead month for me. I'm fine with that though, gives me time to work on my backlog! Need to finish off Kirby and Lego Star Wars first though

Since there's a trial for it, I'll be playing DQ Builders 2 this weekend! Looking forward to trying it out. I'll probably grab it too since it pretty much never goes on sale.

Otherwise it's more of Kirby and the Forgotten Land and Lego Star Wars on PS5. No, I still haven't beaten Kirby.

I forgot these variety shows were even a thing. I don't think they've had new exclusive news since what, Gen 5? Maybe even Gen 4.

Sounds like the sports are a mixed bag just like the original Wii Sports, but with less of the charm.

I'm in for Bowling and Badminton though! Hopefully Bowling is better here than in Clubhouse Games, as that was VERY easy to cheese and thus get perfect games repeatedly making it boring quickly.

The "big" holiday title is Pokemon Scarlet/Violet. Just as Brilliant Diamond/Shining Pearl was last year's "big" holiday title.

Yes, there will be other holiday titles, but Pokemon is the "big" one. I'm not sure why this is so difficult for people to understand.

Game Pass Ultimate is by far and away the best value of the three. Having Game Pass across both Xbox and PC, as well as mobile via xCloud, on top of Live Gold and other perks is excellent value. You get access to hundreds of games, including all of Microsoft's 1st party offerings and several 3rd party titles on day 1.

As far as the new PS+ tiers go, I think the Extra tier could be worth it depending on what games are in that catalog. Not having day 1 titles is a pretty big blow to it's value, but it's understandable considering their output is almost exclusively big budget single player titles. I might sub for a month or two to try out Returnal though!

The Premium tier is dumb though. I'm not paying even more just to have access to legacy content. They went the NSO route here, and if Nintendo is gonna be vilified for it, so should Sony. Why is Microsoft the only one that can handle their legacy content correctly??

NSO is laughable, and the Expansion Pack is a ripoff.

It was pretty obvious this was happening after Pokemon Scarlett/Violet were announced. No way they were gonna have 3 huge open world titles release in quick succession like that.

@KBuckley27 What makes you so sure Prime 4 won't be ready next year? Fall 2023 would be roughly 5 years after the game had restarted development (late 2018).

My launch Switch is still functional but the battery doesn't last as long as it used to and the fan gets really noisy. Otherwise it's still going strong but I upgraded to an OLED so I play on that.

Given how the facial animations worked in the first game, COVID had to have hit this game's development like a truck.

Fully expecting to see Prime 4 released before this

Wasn't expecting them to bring Force Unleashed over, let alone the Wii version of the game.

I would think Arkham Knight would be a cloud version.

For comparison, Sword/Shield sold 6 million in its first week.

To beat that when it's hot off the heels of BDSP and without the holiday season (and in January of all months) is very impressive.

With the chip shortages they don't need to release a successor for another 2-3 years or so.

The current Switch has a ton of momentum still and 2022 looks to be a really big year in terms of major releases.

Also, as far as 3rd party games go, the vast majority of the ones released on Switch are either indies or ports of PS3/360 era titles (or earlier). It already wasn't getting most PS4/XB1 games, so nothing changes there with PS5/XBSX. Stuff like The Witcher 3 or Dying Light are the exception rather than the rule.

BDSP will easily become the best selling remakes in the franchise (only ORAS and Let's Go are ahead of it currently) and may very well surpass the original Diamond and Pearl.

DKC Tropical Freeze on Switch. Slowly making progress through this one (thanks real life responsibilities) and so it'll have to be put on pause once Legends Arceus releases.

Elsewhere I'm playing through Miles Morales on PS5. So far it's really good! The web swinging in these games is just so incredibly satisfying

Megaton! No doubt this move was made to continue to bolster Game Pass, just as Bethesda and their other acquisitions were.

Very curious to see how they handle CoD. A big multiplayer game like that is an entirely different beast to single player titles like Starfield. If I had to guess, the main games go Xbox/PC only while Warzone stays multiplatform

@Scrubicius Not odd at all actually. This list seems to be by average play time per person over the last two weeks, so it's going to heavily skew towards RPGs and simulators where people tend to have very lengthy play sessions. With games like Mario Kart or Smash most people will play it for just a few rounds at a time.

@James1010uk Tropical Freeze is only around 11 hours long.

How long it takes to get through a section can easily extend a game's length, whether it be from dying repeatedly or getting lost, both of which are commonplace in Metroidvanias for most people.

Not gonna do some heavy gaming this weekend. Just patiently waiting for Metroid Dread next week!!! That'll be my entire focus once it's here.

In the mean time I might play some Smash or Mario Kart.

The big months are finally here! Grabbing Monkey Ball, Metroid, and Mario Party this month (and maybe a Switch OLED, not sure yet), and then SMT V, KOTOR, and Brilliant Diamond next month!

That wouldn't surprise me if we're getting GB/GBC games as part of the current plan and that they'll announce it when they announce the pricing details for the Expansion Pack tier to soften the backlash. Or at least attempt to haha

@Grumblevolcano Your hard drive is fine. Sonic has issues across all platforms apparently, especially the Switch version. The game is just a shoddy remaster unfortunately.

I work weekends so I don't get very much gaming time in at all if any. When my days off come on Wednesday and Thursday however I'll be playing either Ratchet and Clank Rift Apart on PS5 or New Pokemon Snap on Switch.
