Re: Microsoft Eager To "Bring Game Pass To Any Device" People Want To Play On

IceClimbers

@backup368 Microsoft has said that being on Game Pass has actually increased the traditional sales of those titles on XB1 iirc. There's no reason to believe that wouldn't also be the case on Switch, especially when most of the titles would be streamed rather than ran natively.

The Switch can't run most of the current gen AAA titles. Doom and Warframe are the exception, not the rule. This will only get worse when the next gen arrives next year. Being able to have access to those games on Game Pass through streaming via xCloud is added value.

Nintendo would undoubtedly have negotiated a cut of Game Pass subs on Switch anyways.

Ultimately Game Pass and access to Microsoft's 1st party titles is another selling point for the Switch, which leads to increased hardware sales and therefore more people to buy native 3rd party ports and Nintendo's own 1st party software in addition to more NSO and Game Pass subs.

Re: Rumour: Microsoft Plans To Bring Xbox App And Game Pass To Nintendo Switch

@Heavyarms55 That's exactly what they're doing. Microsoft is a services and cloud computing company, and Xbox will be no different. They want to get their services available to as many people as possible, so bringing that stuff to Switch is natural.

They'll still make Xbox consoles, but those are just a means of entry to the Xbox ecosystem/platform and their services alongside PC, Switch, and Mobile.

Re: Microsoft Eager To Expand Xbox Live Cross-Platform Gaming On Switch

Gotta think Microsoft plans to drop the XBL Gold requirement for online multiplayer on Xbox within the next few years, probably with launch of next gen.

Makes no sense to expand this cross platform initiative and only have Xbox players require the sub while PC, mobile, and Switch users have access to this stuff for free (Nintendo's own NSO subscription notwithstanding). And there's no way in hell they're gonna convince those people to pay the fee.
