I’m definitely getting it no matter what, but it was a very weird choice to spend so long talking about random third parties like 2K, and games that are already out like Split Fiction. There were only 5 real first party games announced in the entire thing, and one of them is a risky new IP.
I feel like the amount of time wasted was a mistake
This was a great surprise, but I can’t help but feel that this could’ve been announced without a direct. There’s nothing about this that will be exclusive to Switch 2. There was a LOT of wasted time in this direct
This is absolutely what the Switch 2 will look like. This is, like, the sixth leak with this exact design from the last few months. It's exactly the same as the original but a lot bigger, with a new C button on the right joy-con and magnetic joy-cons. So pretty much what we've expected all year.
The dimensions are interesting, it's the same height as the Steam Deck and only an inch less wide, the screen is 8 inches vs. 7.4, and it's much thinner and less ergonomic.
Wicked is awesome. I’ve seen the show five times and I’ve been listening to the cast album my entire life. I haven’t seen the film yet because I don’t like the casting of Ariana and Cynthia and I’m very skeptical of stretching Act 1 out to the length of what’s usually the entire show, but I will NOT stand for any Wicked slander
Ngl I think Metaphor or AstroBot should win. They’re head and shoulders above the rest other than Erdtree, which as great as it is shouldn’t qualify for the category
Is there like, a bundle with all 10 or so games in it? I love playing these with other people, but don’t own any myself because I don’t know which packs are the most fun and I’m concerned I’ll get the wrong ones.
EDIT: I see that the decade bundle exists, but I don’t have 200 dollars to spend on a party game rn lol
Tangentially related fun fact: Nick Robinson is the brother of indie/pop/electronic musician Porter Robinson. I was a Nick fan for like five years before Porter became my all time favorite artist, and I realized they were brothers. Mind blower
Not at all a fan of the US cover, it’s literally the same models and art from 13 years ago for the two Sonic’s but with Shadow squeezed in the middle. The Japan version is much better, with an updated Sonic render that better matches his current portrayal, a beautiful background and cool yin-yang motif. I will say the Japanese cover really makes Shadow look like the villain, if I didn’t already know the character I’d probably assume he’s evil.
I'm so ready for the Switch 2. I'm not even a huge graphics snob, but it's gonna feel amazing to actually be able to play games on Nintendo that look mostly the same as other systems. I really wanna play this game and a bunch of others that came out recently, but I'm honestly really tired of the significant sacrifices on Switch, or games just not coming to it because they wouldn't be able to run.
I wish we'd gotten an official Switch Lite+ like this! I never got a Lite for myself and we're too close to the Switch 2 now to invest in one but if Nintendo makes a Switch 2 Lite I hope it looks something like this!
This looks absolutely bizarre. I can’t say I 100% followed what I was looking at in this trailer, but the style looks great and the mechanics sound promising. The absurdist humor in Yo-Kai Watch was kind of the core of the series, so I’m not complaining
It just seems really ridiculous that an RPG that ran at 60FPS on the GameCube can’t run at 60FPS on modern hardware. Especially because we have games like Metroid Prime Remastered on Switch… whatever. At least we’re getting the Switch 2 next year, very likely this will run at 60FPS on that
@Anti-Matter I don’t understand what you could possibly find offensive in the Sonic movies… I knew you were soft but cmon… it’s the Sonic movie, they’re innocent kids movies…
Anyway, this is my most hyped movie of the year! The Adventure games are some of my favorites of all time, SA2 is by far my favorite Sonic game. This is gonna be my inner 13 year olds favorite movie ever.
I adore this game, I 100% completed it back in 2021 and I just started playing it again this week. I just finished the Electrode boss, I’m falling in love with it all over again. The graphics are rough, it definitely seems like the first game in an amazing series that has a good start but evolves with each entry to become iconic.
Pokémon Legends ZA was the best possible announcement for me, Y was my first Pokémon game and I stand by the fact that Kalos is an incredible region with great designs, let down by forgettable characters, a half-baked story, mindnumbing artificially easy difficulty, and a huge swathe of cut content that could’ve vastly improved the game being saved for a Pokémon Z that ended up being cancelled. My first ever Pokémon experience finally getting the treatment it always deserved in a Pokémon Z, but combined with an evolved version of the gameplay from Legends? It’s like they made this game for me
Black and White are happening, 100%. We know for a fact the games will be represented in some form, but if it’ll be Legends Kyurem or Remakes or straight ports, I don’t know. If it is remakes, they won’t be made my ILCA again. BDSP “flopped” in terms of Pokémon games, and we know GameFreak was upset with ILCA’s work.
It always sucks to see people lose their jobs. I’m 17, so to me and my friends Skylanders was a massive part of 2nd-5th grade. It was the first game franchise I was really in love with XD
I hope those who were fired can find new places to work quickly. When I’m running my business, I’m gonna try my best to make my employees happy and treat them as equals
I never realized Ring Fit Adventure outsold TWO Pokemon remakes and Splatoon 2. That's a huge feat and I hope we get a sequel on Switch 2, it was a genuine workout and super fun at the same time.
Universal Hollywoods Super Nintendo World is a dream. The park has very limited space and they managed to fit an incredible land into that space. I have never once been let down walking in and feeling the magic.
The fact that they nominated Wish means I have zero trust in the judges lol But realistically, Spider-Man or the Boy and the Heron are the only possible choices
I know most of you don't seem to care or actively dislike it, but I love the Zelda timeline and I'd think about the games 3X more if there was an interconnected story with consistent themes, mysteries, lore and things to speculate on. TOTK is a 10/10 to me in every department except the story and worldbuilding, which is like a 3/10. It throws away most of BOTWs character and story development, still doesn't know how to tell a story in an open world, introduces new characters with cool designs but no personality, and is full of plotholes.
I know people find Geoff annoying and this event pointless, but this was a really well edited trailer and I mean. They got RADIOHEAD, it was hard to not find myself enjoying it
Huge missed opportunity to put William Afton's death/"I always come back" scene from the FNAF movie in there. They put the Twisted Metal show in there, it'd only be fair to include FNAF
The more I look back on it, the story of TOTK really disappointed me. It had some of the most beautiful visuals and set-pieces in any game I've ever played, but the story is just so lackluster
@Spider-Kev You called the girl in the preview image a "sexy redhead", Ice Spice is a female rapper who looks pretty much like the lady you were talking about.
Jesus, Wet Leg is in this game? They absolutely baffle me, they have to be an industry plant. Mediocre indie music and in half the songs they don't even sing, they just say vaguely sassy things in an accent. All the songs sound identical. They're inescapable in LA, the album came out last year and there are still billboards up
@Pat_trick Honestly these past few games would've been a lot more fun if they had just kept mega evolution as the only gimmick and developed it in each game. Z-moves could've been incorporated into it by adding it to your move list when you mega evolve, and just rebalancing gameplay to make it work. Terestalization is pretty cool but in 100+ hours of playing Sword I never figured out how Dynamax was any different than Mega Evolution.
@acuphoria I wanna preface this by saying I totally respect your opinion and this isn't an argument. But I'm curious as a fan of both games, what about X and Y's story gripped you more? My biggest issues with it's story are that the friend group is pretty one note, and I would've liked to see characters like Trevor have proper arcs. Lysandre's motivation and ideology is awesome and Team Flare is probably the closest evil team to a IRL terrorist group, but again I wish they'd developed them much more instead of trying to pull the very obvious twist of Lysandre being a villain. The way you encounter the legendary Pokemon was also pretty random and I felt it could've been written into the story better. Not to mention all the weird loose ends that weren't fully tied up, as mentioned in the article. The story wasn't bad per say, it just had potential to be so much deeper than it was and it's kind of frustrating.
@acuphoria Anyone who says X and Y has a better story than Sun and Moon needs to replay the games. And I love X and Y so so much, but the story did not have it's full potential realized at all.
@5th313ment Don't worry, it's just because the Switch is on it's way out. All the brand new titles will probably be announced post March 2024 when they announce the Switch 2

Re: Nintendo Switch 2 Priced At $449.99 For The Base Console
Interesting. I feel like a lot of people don’t realize this, but the PS5 is $400 at this point, $450 for the bundle with AstroBot and a disk drive.
Yes, the Pro is $700, but nobody’s making you buy that. The Switch 2 isn’t actually cheaper than the PS5.
