Re: Nintendo Switch 2 Priced At $449.99 For The Base Console

@presenttense

I’m definitely getting it no matter what, but it was a very weird choice to spend so long talking about random third parties like 2K, and games that are already out like Split Fiction. There were only 5 real first party games announced in the entire thing, and one of them is a risky new IP.

I feel like the amount of time wasted was a mistake

Re: Dbrand Seems To Have Shared Images Of Switch 2 Inside Its New Case

Goat_FromBOTW

This is absolutely what the Switch 2 will look like. This is, like, the sixth leak with this exact design from the last few months. It's exactly the same as the original but a lot bigger, with a new C button on the right joy-con and magnetic joy-cons. So pretty much what we've expected all year.

The dimensions are interesting, it's the same height as the Steam Deck and only an inch less wide, the screen is 8 inches vs. 7.4, and it's much thinner and less ergonomic.

Re: Movie Musical 'Wicked' Will Come To Switch Thanks To Funko Fusion DLC

Goat_FromBOTW

Wicked is awesome. I’ve seen the show five times and I’ve been listening to the cast album my entire life. I haven’t seen the film yet because I don’t like the casting of Ariana and Cynthia and I’m very skeptical of stretching Act 1 out to the length of what’s usually the entire show, but I will NOT stand for any Wicked slander

Re: Poll: Box Art Brawl - Duel: Sonic X Shadow Generations

Not at all a fan of the US cover, it’s literally the same models and art from 13 years ago for the two Sonic’s but with Shadow squeezed in the middle. The Japan version is much better, with an updated Sonic render that better matches his current portrayal, a beautiful background and cool yin-yang motif. I will say the Japanese cover really makes Shadow look like the villain, if I didn’t already know the character I’d probably assume he’s evil.

I'm so ready for the Switch 2. I'm not even a huge graphics snob, but it's gonna feel amazing to actually be able to play games on Nintendo that look mostly the same as other systems. I really wanna play this game and a bunch of others that came out recently, but I'm honestly really tired of the significant sacrifices on Switch, or games just not coming to it because they wouldn't be able to run.

Re: That's A Wrap! The Sonic The Hedgehog 3 Movie Is Done Filming

Goat_FromBOTW

@Anti-Matter I don’t understand what you could possibly find offensive in the Sonic movies… I knew you were soft but cmon… it’s the Sonic movie, they’re innocent kids movies…

Anyway, this is my most hyped movie of the year! The Adventure games are some of my favorites of all time, SA2 is by far my favorite Sonic game. This is gonna be my inner 13 year olds favorite movie ever.

Re: Poll: So, Have You Finished Pokémon Legends: Arceus Yet?

Goat_FromBOTW

I adore this game, I 100% completed it back in 2021 and I just started playing it again this week. I just finished the Electrode boss, I’m falling in love with it all over again. The graphics are rough, it definitely seems like the first game in an amazing series that has a good start but evolves with each entry to become iconic.

Pokémon Legends ZA was the best possible announcement for me, Y was my first Pokémon game and I stand by the fact that Kalos is an incredible region with great designs, let down by forgettable characters, a half-baked story, mindnumbing artificially easy difficulty, and a huge swathe of cut content that could’ve vastly improved the game being saved for a Pokémon Z that ended up being cancelled. My first ever Pokémon experience finally getting the treatment it always deserved in a Pokémon Z, but combined with an evolved version of the gameplay from Legends? It’s like they made this game for me

Re: Zelda Timeline Is Only Considered "To An Extent" During Development, Says TOTK Director

Goat_FromBOTW

I know most of you don't seem to care or actively dislike it, but I love the Zelda timeline and I'd think about the games 3X more if there was an interconnected story with consistent themes, mysteries, lore and things to speculate on.
TOTK is a 10/10 to me in every department except the story and worldbuilding, which is like a 3/10. It throws away most of BOTWs character and story development, still doesn't know how to tell a story in an open world, introduces new characters with cool designs but no personality, and is full of plotholes.

Re: Soapbox: Pokémon X & Y - The Series' Greatest Paradoxes

Goat_FromBOTW

@Pat_trick Honestly these past few games would've been a lot more fun if they had just kept mega evolution as the only gimmick and developed it in each game. Z-moves could've been incorporated into it by adding it to your move list when you mega evolve, and just rebalancing gameplay to make it work. Terestalization is pretty cool but in 100+ hours of playing Sword I never figured out how Dynamax was any different than Mega Evolution.

Re: Soapbox: Pokémon X & Y - The Series' Greatest Paradoxes

Goat_FromBOTW

@acuphoria I wanna preface this by saying I totally respect your opinion and this isn't an argument. But I'm curious as a fan of both games, what about X and Y's story gripped you more? My biggest issues with it's story are that the friend group is pretty one note, and I would've liked to see characters like Trevor have proper arcs. Lysandre's motivation and ideology is awesome and Team Flare is probably the closest evil team to a IRL terrorist group, but again I wish they'd developed them much more instead of trying to pull the very obvious twist of Lysandre being a villain. The way you encounter the legendary Pokemon was also pretty random and I felt it could've been written into the story better. Not to mention all the weird loose ends that weren't fully tied up, as mentioned in the article. The story wasn't bad per say, it just had potential to be so much deeper than it was and it's kind of frustrating.
