@Donutsavant If Sonic Mania is the only Sonic game you’ve played and it doesn’t click with you, don’t worry. I honestly don’t like 2D Sonic that much but the Sonic Adventure games, specifically 2, are number 2 and 3 on my top ten games list. Not to mention games like Heroes, Unleashed and Colors which all have their one unique styles and positives to them. When I first started playing the franchise, it wasn’t until I played Sonic Forces that I really started liking it. Of course, than I played the Adventure games and look back on Sonic Forces as one of the less solid games. But you could certainly enjoy it! What I’m trying to say is, don’t give up on the franchise. It’s worth it to keep playing.

@BrintaPap There really are hardly any bugs in the Adventure games. After people online got tired of pointing and laughing at Sonic 06, they tried to find the next best thing. Which were the Adventure games. Sure if you watch a Game Grumps video, or Egoraptor it seems glitchy, but it’s honestly hard to encounter the glitches unintentionally. And while Big the Cat and the mech stages in SA2 had bad or at least wonky controls, the rest of the characters control great. And I never had problems with the camera.

@SalvorHardin Actually no. I have only been a Sonic fan for 2 years (but I’ve played all the 3D games and most of the 2D games) and I actually like Mania. It’s kind of repetitive that it’s just old stages again but the new ones are great. I just think it would be better for the brand and the consistency of games if they kept Classic in the 2D series. I feel like they use him more than modern now to represent the brand. What the series needs is more consistency, and the main character not having a permanent design is anything but that.

That's nice but can they please retire Classic Sonic? I know he sells but that's the problem. Sega's being rewarded by not attempting to restore the brand to its pre meta era glory, but instead just making toys of this weird, inaccurate replication of Sonic from the 90's.

@SM3DASislit Dark Age is the period between 2005 to 2010. I actually love that era, Sonic and the Black Knight, Unleashed, Riders, Rush, etc. The reason it's often called that is that the stories were much darker than before, or at least more serious. What I want for the franchise is a Sonic Adventure game with SA2/Dark Age story and Adventure gameplay. Here's someones idea for a SA3. @SM3DASislit Not at all! Yeah I don’t like it. Mania was good but I always preferred 3D Sonic. SA2 is my favorite game and I think my favorite era was the dark age. From a dark age fan, the current stories are bland, don’t take themselves seriously at all, and are too meta. The 2010s have been mostly classic and 2D stuff, which isn’t great for 3D fans. Sonic Forces was the culmination of this. A 2D game disguised as 3D, which has been the majority of 3D games this decade (love Generations though.) The levels are incredibly lazy, and rarely does the theme make sense with the story. I could make a 20 minute video on why I think the brand should return to it’s former tone, but there are dozens of those. I recommend J’s reviews Sonic retrospective, which has some similar ideas to mine. So while roger has a fine voice, it’s heavily associated with a decade of mediocrity in my eyes. I really hope they bring back the old writers and Jason Griffith. But don’t fire Mike Pollock he’s a legend.

Nintendo could not make a Sonic game. They just don't have the vibe. I really hope nobody buys them, I just got a PS5, I don't want to buy an Xbox as well.

@MakkaroniOni First of all, there were no 3D games this decade. There were 2D games with 3D sections, but there hasn't been a 3D Sonic game since 2006. And second, I phrased that wrong. Games like Colors and Generations had tons of charm in the level design and gameplay, I'm mostly talking about the stories and writing. Also, I generally don't like 2D Sonic, which kind of changes this message, i'm not a classicist.

@Bermanator Your opinion. I didn't like it at all, the level design is mostly walking straight forward with tons of bottomless pits. Advance 1 and 3 are better in that regard. Try replaying it.
