As much as I’d love getting one, these things rarely make it to this country. So I guess I’ll have to settle for using my actual copy of the game on my actual game boy instead.
@KingMike I mean, you can collect them all. The old school way.
(by purchasing two systems and two copies of the game of course; no game link cable required we live in the future)
But for real, for all we know it could be possible to bring Pokemon back from Home to these. Maybe? Gotta wait and see. Otherwise then welp, who needs a Golem right?
@Krlozgod it's honestly a bit complicated with any games that had GC-GBA connectivity features (not even just the Pokémon ones, any of them); these functions depended on the GBA on the other side of the connection being active and giving real-time responses.
So it's not like a simple "just put them on their own app"... Like, the simplest solution would involve having two switches so one could play the role of the GBA and that's probably not something they're interested in doing.
And with Home having trading + the new battling game coming out in the future, now they probably see even less of a reason to add online directly in these old games.
@TheExile285 I was personally hoping they’d give Zelda her HW armor set like they did with Link in Age of Calamity, so yeah the lack of any gameplay-relevant rewards was disappointing.
@SplatRay001 @TheExile285 I guess they could’ve added her as an extra character for game completion, but I don’t think it would make sense to make her playable during the story considering she’s not, uh, present for most of it.
@EarthboundBenjy every DLC up until now has made a previously event-only Pokémon available through normal gameplay. So I’d assume this time it’s Zeraora.
@sportymariosonicmixx nah. For whatever reason they were supplied with screenshots that do not represent the actual final version of the game; those are well known beta screenshots.
@KingMike the only way I was able to beat the game was with the “cheat” on the Game & Watch Zelda Edition.
If you hold A when starting or reviving, you get maxed out life, lives, and all stats.
And even then it was super difficult! I did eventually map a quick route to return to the final boss, but only because I had to return so many times to it.
Zelda 1 by comparison is still a joy to play today without any cheap cheats.
Well at least we can say there’s nothing divisive about the soundtrack; it’s one of the rare NES classics with what we could consider to be an actually good soundtrack (as opposed to assorted sounds and one or two tracks).
@CasualTalkRadio the thing is that the switch is and always was a tablet. A tablet that currently fills in the main gap for “dedicated handheld gaming” space in the market.
Meanwhile the rest of the market, the part that doesn’t actually care if their device has dedicated A and B buttons, is pretty ok with gaming on their tablets and phones and don’t see a need to get another dedicated device for something like that.
Not to mention, playing a game on a normal tablet or phone doesn’t mean you must have a data plan or are forbidden from using regular physical controls.
It simply means the game is no longer available for purchase digitally. But the game itself will remain on Nintendos servers for as long as the service lasts.
@The_Nintendo_Pedant chances are they’d rather have you purchase the latest title instead
This is not really like a narrative driven franchise or anything, Fitness Boxing 3 has the same fundamental gameplay, but with improvements and a different soundtrack.
@Coffee-Waffle it’s a complex situation and nobody really has the full story, but as far as I know Marvelous became able to localize their titles on their own after acquiring XSeed, and so they started doing just that.
According to Natsume, Marvelous quite simply stopped doing business with them one day; making no attempt to acquire the Harvest Moon name or get any sort licensing deal.
(The HM name itself was always fully owned by Natsume since the very beginning, so it was in their best interest to keep the franchise active even without Marvelous)

As much as I’d love getting one, these things rarely make it to this country. So I guess I’ll have to settle for using my actual copy of the game on my actual game boy instead.
Re: Yes, Pokémon FireRed & LeafGreen Are Getting Home Support
@Lizuka if you use the L=A setting, then ZL becomes B
(And the dpad mirrors the face buttons)
Re: It's No Surprise Which GBA Soundtrack Has Been Added To Nintendo Music Today
@KingMike nope I did try that too, it just shows an endless barrage of fan music and anime soundtracks.
Re: It's No Surprise Which GBA Soundtrack Has Been Added To Nintendo Music Today
@BrewsterTea ah! Update: It appears I was wrong, they’re still up as of right now.
They don’t appear if you search for “Pokemon” but they do if you search for “game freak”.
Which is odd but I’m glad they’re still up.
Re: It's No Surprise Which GBA Soundtrack Has Been Added To Nintendo Music Today
@BrewsterTea none of the pokemon game soundtracks are available anymore. I’m not sure what other Nintendo games have soundtrack for sale there.
@Krlozgod they were still up last time I checked, which was a few months ago. And yeah purchased ones should be good and cozy in your account.
Re: It's No Surprise Which GBA Soundtrack Has Been Added To Nintendo Music Today
It’s worth mentioning that along with this addition, the Pokemon game soundtracks are no longer available for purchase on iTunes.
Correction: they are still available, just difficult to find; you have to search for “game freak”, not “pokemon”.

Re: Pokémon FireRed And LeafGreen Officially Revealed For Switch
@Krlozgod those will be in NSO, so chances they won't have any form of connectivity at all.
Re: Pokémon FireRed And LeafGreen Officially Revealed For Switch
@Fizza yeah it was wireless only.
And with Home having trading + the new battling game coming out in the future, now they probably see even less of a reason to add online directly in these old games.
Re: Pokémon FireRed And LeafGreen Officially Revealed For Switch
Ooooh wait a minute. Does this mean we will now get the special events just for beating the game, like in Crystal on the 3DS?
I sure hope so. I never got to see those myself.
Re: Pokémon FireRed And LeafGreen Officially Revealed For Switch
@ShadLink with emerald one year later of course
Re: Pokémon FireRed And LeafGreen Officially Revealed For Switch
@Peach64 it's FRLG only because Gen 1 privilege
Re: Pokémon FireRed And LeafGreen Officially Revealed For Switch
@Dimjimmer chances are these will include wireless functionality and Home compatibility just like the 3DS VC titles.
Using a launcher model like it’s a generic GBA collection would probably complicate that integration.
Re: Pokémon FireRed And LeafGreen Officially Revealed For Switch
Oh my arceus that’s great! I have been wanting to replay these ever since my copy of Fire Red disappeared alongside my DS Lite all those years ago.
It’s like impossible to buy these games without ending with a bootleg.

I find this mega hilarious honestly.
The fact it makes perfect sense lore-wise once you learn the origins of Staryu’s and Starmie’s designs is just the cherry on top.

Re: Review: New Super Mario Bros. (Wii U eShop / DS)
@sportymariosonicmixx the site has a selection of screenshots for the game, the review picks a few at random every time you load the page.
To answer your question above, morpheel was my username back then when I posted that other comment, so they were replying to me.

If I buy the S2 edition, will that also give me the S1 version, or would I need to buy the S1+Upgrade for that?
Edit: ok since it was cheap I decided to try for myself. The S2 edition did indeed give me both versions.

Re: Rumour: Sony Is Gunning For The Switch 2 With A Handheld, Dockable PS6
@Coffee-Waffle I do absolutely hope they make a Lite 2.
The standard switch 2 is a bit too massive.
Re: Rumour: Sony Is Gunning For The Switch 2 With A Handheld, Dockable PS6
@Coffee-Waffle that gap is currently filled by tablets (and phones). They’re handheld devices, after all.
Re: ICYMI: Nintendo Reminds Us Switch Game Vouchers Won't Be Sold After January 2026
I bought a pair to preorder the new Pokemon Legends. Hopefully I’ll be able to use the other one for Rhythm Heaven.

@Coffee-Waffle it’s always been a tablet.

Re: Natsume's Next Harvest Moon Game Arrives On Switch This October
@Coffee-Waffle Is it really so hard to believe the new Harvest Moon titles could also have fans that like them based on their own merits?
Story of Seasons is over a decade old now, it also has had plenty time to “make a name for itself”, so to speak.
Clearly both franchises are doing well enough.
Re: Natsume's Next Harvest Moon Game Arrives On Switch This October
@Dom_31 there’s a loud minority of people that genuinely seem to hate the games, mostly on principle.
But they’re genuinely getting better.
Re: Poll: Box Art Brawl - Duel: WarioWare, Inc.: Mega Microgame$!
@KingMike to be fair, the bomb design is busy enough to the point where it’s meaning as the O could be lost for some
Re: Poll: Box Art Brawl - Duel: WarioWare, Inc.: Mega Microgame$!
The North American one is a true classic.
I don’t think I would’ve tried the game if it was just a blue box with 1 face on it. My brain needs more faces.
