They are still going to ship R-Type Dimensions III on a physical cart with a 10 bucks markup, so who knows whether they revealed something they shouldn't have yet or just made an honest mistake.
Disappointing. I mean, it would have been impossible to not have some degree of disappointment after 8 years of waiting, but I really thought that Retro Studios could have done better. Even if you removed the annoying NPCs and the pointless desert exploration, it would still be linear, easy (Thanks Retro for locking Hard mode. Very cool.) and uninspired (Was it really necessary to have the Volt Forge repeat itself thrice? Was it really necessary to have all those stupid double doors in Flare Pool? And what's with the names of those locations? Ice Belt? Really? Couldn't you have gone for something more exotic sounding?) I have enjoyed it somewhat so far, but no way it gets higher than 6.
"Hey, we know we will be releasing a subpar version of the game 20 months after other platforms, but can you pretty please pay the full price for it? Oh, and we'll still not be including Episode Aigis on the Premium Edition, so can you also pay for it separately? We really appreciate it, you're such a good ̶s̶u̶c̶k̶e̶r̶ customer."
"Protects from piracy" LOL.
"Physical items have a lifespan". Ah OK, so if I break a Game Key Card, it will totally and magically still work on the Switch 2, right?
Maybe he would have a point if you could, you know, actually use the bloody digital download without the "lifespan-degrading" physical component!
You know what would actually be worthy of 70 bucks? If Nintendo made a proper All-Stars 3D (not that lazy slap 3 roms and call it a day fomo) and included Super Mario 64, Super Mario Sunshine and the two Super Mario Galaxies with the first two having their graphics remade in the Galaxy engine.
@Zeebor15 Maybe it wouldn't scale well to 4K monitors, who knows. It's not like Square Enix is consistent with what they port and what they remake (see Star Ocean 1 and 2).
The bike is a very mysterious inclusion. I could accept it if it's the result of the poor gunship biting the dust, but even then, why didn't they make it hover?
@Toastmaster I know that. The article I posted talks about Atari's (Infogrames) bankruptcy in 2013 where they ended up selling a lot of their games to companies such as Nordic (now known as Embracer) and Tommo. They did eventually reemerge next year and somehow managed to keep chugging along, until their transformation in 2021 to the current back-to-the-roots Atari.
Not a single mention of an upgrade path on PC. Meanwhile, the Asian PC version costs 40 bucks for owners of the original, which is still pricey, but better than nothing.

Worse than the Switch's cloud offerings? That's quite the achievement, if true.

Already preordered and there's a good chance I'll be disappointed, but I have waited this game for too many years to turn back now.

To bring it to more platforms, likely. The first remake was only released on 3DS+Mobile.
