I haven't used it. I don't have friends that I feel close enough to initiate it with. Why isn't a simple text message not a thing on Nintendo platforms. I might be interested in Gamechat if I could at least send a text message to say "hey, do you want to play Mario Kart together? Do you want to try out the Gamechat?"
I'm glad this reviewer was able to articulate some feelings I had. I like the game, but haven't fallen in love with it like I did with the original. For some reason, this game feels less endearing and less like I'm on an adventure. I do tasks and warp around. It doesn't invite me to explore in the same way. And honestly as much as people clamour for QOL improvements, I often feel that they come at the cost of some type of immersion. In the original, because I had to walk back to my life master to change lives... it forced me to focus more, explore the world, and on my way back, sometimes I would get distracted and go down a different path... etc. Yes, I could FORCE myself to do the same here, but to be honest, like the reviewer said... it's not as interesting of a world.
The best way I can describe Fantasy Life i, is that it almost feels slightly like a mobile game. You log in, you do your chores, you log out. I don't feel the extreme pull that "I can't wait to play this game again" like I did with the original.
It's not that it's not a good game. I think its a lovely game and I am enjoying my time with it, but I don't know if I'll even finish it, let alone put the crazy amount of hours into it, like the original.
I am actually looking forward to playing this game. I used to love playing games like this on the PC when I used to have a gaming PC. The Total War series were my favourite. This series has piqued my interest, and now with the joy con mouse support, I'm even more motivated to give it a try.
The whole online preordering was so stressful... so I waited until after work and walked into Gamestop and they had several units available for preorder. Way better experience than trying to do it online.
@NielsNL I understand what you are saying here. I think a big reason collector's are upset is because people like to know that they can continue playing the game even if the publisher pulls the game from the digital store, or servers shut down. With the Game Key card, that's not the case.
I'm sort of in the middle ground. I think it makes sense, because some games are becoming SOOOO huge that they feasibly won't fit on a cartridge. However, what makes me annoyed is when a publisher is still resorting to using the game key card for a game that is very small in size. For example, the Bravely Default game.
If I had the choice to buy digital where its connected to my Nintendo Account, or a game-key card... I would opt for the game-key card, because there are times when I sell games. Either, it wasn't as enjoyable as I once thought, or I just know I won't return to it.
I loved Three Houses... but I disliked the "life-sim". Sipping tea just seems like busy work. Three Houses was great to me because it had a great story and interesting characters. I finished Three Houses because it was like a good book; a real page turner.
I loved Engage's combat, but I never finished Engage because I found the story and characters to be ho-hum.
Maybe a good middle ground? I'm all for social aspects, but can we at least make those things a little more engaging.
As a Freediver and having a passion for our oceans, I look forward to checking this out in between dives into the water.
I highly recommend for anyone who loves this game, to look into taking a Freediving or Scuba course. It's more approachable than you might think, and nothing beats swimming with actual sea life. Our oceans are amazing and the water can be healing.
I can't speak for the UK, but if Game is anything like Gamestop, people probably aren't trading games in because they offer terrible trade values. I think most people here sell their games on Facebook marketplace as opposed to trading them in.
These all look really good! I can't remember if Inazuma Eleven was confirmed for the West.
I am most excited for Fantasy Life. I ADORED the game on 3DS and never thought we would get a Switch release for the series.
The Decagame Police looks intriguing as well.
I can't tell the game world enough how happy I am that Level-5 is back and releasing games in the West again. I hope people support their games, because I think they make unique experiences.
Although it is exciting that it may actually have a lot of power, part of me can't help but be a bit weary because one thing I have always loved about Nintendo, is that the games on its systems were always more creative in some way, whether it be game mechanics, art direction, and gameplay. The stunted power of its previous systems is a big reason for this. RESTRICTION BREEDS CREATIVITY. The one thing I can't stand about Triple A development is that many of the games are so bland and samey because the budgets for those games are incredibly huge that developers can't take risks with their projects.
@somnambulance oooh! I am one who thought Sushi Striker was GREATLY overlooked and under appreciated, so if you also believe that and give a thumbs up to Battle Chef Brigade, I’ll have to check it out.
I am a newbie to these series. I have V on my 3DS, but haven’t gone in yet. I decided to buy 3 remastered on Switch, as I thought it would be a better starting point, as I heard V has some pretty intricate stuff.
I have been enjoying my time with it so far. I use a stylus on my Switch, though I can see how the stylus on a 3DS would be better. I think they did the best job they could with the mapping on the Switch. The only thing I would like with mapping is the ability to use ZR or ZL (for lefties) to quickly swap between drawing lines and painting the floor.
I would also like a bit more of an instruction manual as there are some things in the game I didn’t understand. For example, the icons used for enemy weak points.
I also think that at the price they are selling it, they should include ALL DLC. It would have been nice to include the option to play the Untold versions of the game.
In the future, if they do this again and charge a premium price, they should do a bit extra beyond just QOL improvements. Im not sure how this release appeals to those who already played them on the original hardware. Te extra could be a story mode, or a new area with new dungeons, something like that.
I'm not sure who the IP holder is for Lord of the Rings, but I am surprised they trusted such a big IP with a developer who doesn't have any big games to show for.
I was walking to my car in a parkade, and literally squealed like little girl when I was listening to the Direct on my earbuds. What the actual heck!? I can't believe this is happening! I am sooo thrilled. But ya, I thought Metroid Prime 4 having a shadow drop was more plausible than ever seeing a Switch release of a new Fantasy Life game.
YaY! I am so happy that Level 5 is releasing games in the West again.
Inazuma Eleven on the 3DS is so much fun! I highly recommend people download it before the eshop closes.
I am very sad that they are no longer brining games to the West. I've been a fan of all their games.
Bringing the Fantasy Life game back from the dead would be amazing. To this date it is still in my top 5 favourite games of all time. I would love to play a sequel.
@DiamondJim My thought exactly. I love the HD-2D look, but it doesn't mean I want every game homogenized to look that way. I'm so excited for this release.
In the wake of multiplayer centric, and live-service games, I am A-OK with games focusing on the single player experience. Well done. Looking forward to playing this game.
Oh man! That's awesome! I LOVE this game. And I was getting frustrated that they haven't announced a physical yet. I'm hoping that the reason is because they were planning an expansion and that they want to include it on the cart.
Oh I might have to check this out. I like using my Gameboy Player with my Gamecube, but admittedly I can't stand the D-Pad of the Gamecube controller to play the games. It will be really nice to be able to use an 8Bit Do for these situations.
Oh wow. I had no idea Silpheed was on Sega CD. I was actually trying to see if that game was on some kind of compilation. I'm not sure its a good game, but I loved that one as a kid and used to play it often on my computer.
That looks sooooo adorable. I'm almost sad that it is releasing in March, only because March is looking so stacked for me, with Triangle Strategy, Rune Factory 5, The Cruel King and Great Hero, plus Atelier Sophie releasing very late February.
This year I'm trying to only buy retail releases that I have time to play in that moment. I'll have to make some hard decisions.
People like to create and contribute to gaming communities for intrinsic reasons , however we at (insert video game company) believe that NFT’s will finally allow us to financially benefit from the goodwill of others and this gain trumps the desire of our customers to play games for fun.
I always find these end of the year game things kind of funny. People will often vote on games they haven't even played, or games that no one played and are fantastic won't even get a mention. For example, Sumire, Chicken Police, and Cross the Moon were FANTASTIC games, but they didn't show up in the search bar. I'm also sure that SMT V and Metroid Dread games are likely great games, but I haven't played them yet so thus I can't put a vote on it.

Like the idea of the game going back to some more traditional elements, I don’t like the idea of randomly generated areas though.

Can someone clarify something for me? Did the HD remaster have anything extra or QOL improvements over the original Gamecube version?
