Re: Poll: What's The Best Ace Attorney Game?

DeltaPeng

10- Dual Destinies is amazing, I like how they streamlined the experience with less investigating and more focus on story. Loved the characters and Athena's introduction

9- Original + Trials and Tribulations, the interconnection of stories is amazing

8-Apollo + Phx vs Layton (great story and graphics, the puzzles felt too simplistic and slowed the experience down tho)
I tried TGAA 1 and wasn't super impressed, though people keep saying the 2nd is good, so I may have to visit it

The rest are average, enjoyable, but not as good as the above. Of them, Spirit of Justice is the weakest imo, had a lot of moments where it felt they dragged / repeated the dialogue. Some of this may just be a translation issue, but gameplay-wise it got tiresome. The indiv stories imo weren't as strong either.

Re: Valve's Steam Deck Hopes To Avoid Switch's Joy-Con Drift Issues

DeltaPeng

Ninty's design is ultimately better, though the specs could of course be better. I'm sure Ninty will eventually make a Switch2 (preferable to just a slight listen upgrade) if DS to 3DS and all the DS and 3DS iterations in their history are anything to go off of.

But I say Switch is more smartly designed bc 1) has a kickstand, actually quite convenient for portable play and to avoid hand strain and 2) if drift does happen to Steam Deck, then what? With Switch you could always replace the joycon, or sync a different controller, and bc the joycon is electrically a separate device, you can separate it for any attempts to repair so it won't destroy the main system.

The Steam Deck does look cool though and I do think having the Steam library portable would be fantastic. The standard controller buttons/sticks look a bit odd being so high up, I'd be curious to hear how it feels/plays later

Re: Random: What If Nintendo Just Released A Basic Switch XL?

DeltaPeng

Switch XL is what I'm hoping / dreaming for. It's got to be large enough, more like tablet size. But if they do it right I foresee smash, overcooked, and local coop/comp games being much more viable. It makes sense too, Lite focuses on portable, let XL focus on tabletop. And if a pro or sequel comes out, that can focus on docked. For something like a pro, the moment it comes out devs have to decide whether to make their game use the extra power and become exclusive to pro. But tech gets better as you go, so the longer we wait the better specs or cheaper price that could be. It's prob more feasible to do current specs but XL screen, but if done I hope the size diff is as drastic as reg DS to DS XL. Do that Ninty, and I'm in

Oh, and I suppose aside from that any future Switches could use some anti-reflection on the screen. Trying to play the switch outdoors in AZ doesn't work well! A battery life of 4 hours min would be ideal for the occasional local multiplayer session on the go, though if it was dockless and they had the power cable accessible while playing, then that wouldn't be a big deal. That would prob be a more needed feature. The XL imo would then be a true portable multiplayer gaming setup/rig, where if we were just talking portability, the Ds/3ds were the absolute best for that. Switch Lite is still too large imo and not desirable due to potential joycon drift (at min that should be swappable). A $400 price point for XL would make sense with Lite being $200, reg being $300.

Re: Bowser Tries To Explain Why Mario's Games Will Be Removed On 31st March 2021

DeltaPeng

100% makes sense for the physical carts (same reason why they don't print millions of every single smash amiibo, while it does make some rarer than others, any that don't sell is a loss, and likely they can't justify reserving manufacturing space beyond the first printing).

Doesn't make sense not to have it available digitally. If it was a rights issue that would be one thing, but not when they own the IP

Re: Nintendo Releases 'Swapnote Remastered' Update, Despite Killing The App Seven Years Ago

DeltaPeng

Swapnote was a really cool app, but removing ability to send messages online definitely killed it. And the paid version they later released was not as good per functionality, plus the hypebhad died by then

So the remastered doesn't re-add that ability to send notes online?

But hey, if Nintendo wants to revive things, please please revive Miitomo. I imagine they cut it bc traffic was low, but if they could release an offline version so ppl can still take/make pictures with mii's that'd rock.

Re: Paper Mario Producer Says Team Is "No Longer Able To Graphically Represent Individual Characteristics" In Toad NPCs

DeltaPeng

Ninty need to expand their ip, not just stick to existing ones. People loved or at least appreciated Splatoon and ARMS for being new ninty franchises, which also brings in more potential revenue and growth opportunities (tho to be fair, creating new chars /worlds /stories is a much larger effort). They're being way too stringent to prevent it tho.

It's like the Dr Mario world app, it's sad that some of their 'new' chars are just literal color alts, like fire powerup peach or reduced to basic generic enemy types. Just 'try' to make new chars, even something simple like Paper Mario's goombella is workable (oh, it's a girl goomba w a hat and she's an explorer. And has a chatterbox personality which can come out in her text and abilities. Cool!) rather than no-effort 'new' Dr Mario app chars. C'mon ninty, you're all about family friendly creativity, don't start losing that in your game design

Re: Talking Point: Jargon-Heavy Xbox Series X And PS5 Reveals Vindicate Nintendo's Approach

DeltaPeng

I've been curious to hear about the specs, glad they're finally hear. That said, for the consumer, these talks are pretty dry. Nintendo did better per keeping it simple and succint.

Per PS and XB, I saw a couple youtubers break it down already, there videos were better / to the point / more interesting.

Might as well post em, here's the better XB and PS vids to watch:

Re: The Switch Is "Teetering On The Brink Of Becoming Outdated", Says The Financial Times

DeltaPeng

@Ainz Some people sell just the Switch console on ebay for cheaper, I think they sell all the items piece-wise and make a profit off of that. So you probably could just buy a Switch + Dock there cheaper.

Or, with the new Switch model / better battery life out, you probably could buy one of the older Switch models for a decent price from a user who upgraded. If you only plan to play docked that could work out well.

Though a note of caution, one user said to be wary that some people tried to hack their switches, failed, and so sell the console, which works but has a perma-ban per online shop/features.

Re: Nintendo To Be Awarded Over $450,000 In Court Win Against Unofficial Mario Kart Service

DeltaPeng

@AlexSora89 See Heavyarms55's comment, apparently MariCar was still using Ninty's IP even as recent as a few months ago. It's one thing to break copyright infringement out of ignorance, MariCar is a knowing, blatant infringement plus a disregard for the law when told to cease and desist via the court ruling.

Slapping a sticker on that says 'unaffiliating to Nintendo' does not suddenly make it less copyright infringey (assuming they still used ninty costumes at the time).

Even if people know it's not directly affiliated, and even if there's no safety concerns, use of the characters and IP are still prohibited, especially if it relates to making money off of it. I.e. this Mario Cart idea could mean a potential loss of profit for Nintendo in the future, should they decide to do it on their own.

Per the punish one to educate many, there's examples of that in ~daily life, like a teacher punishing a student. The smart/aware ones learn by watching and so they don't have to learn via experience. A couple teacher friends say as much, you have to have rules AND show you will enforce them, if you don't, the kids will more likely misbehave throughout the year. Be firm and consistent with it, and you can have an orderly classroom more suited for learning.

Re: Random: Sakurai's Three Finger Hand Gesture Has Sent The Internet Absolutely Bonkers

DeltaPeng

Ugh, please not crash or Dante, Joker already has a gun and there's a ton of sword fighters. Crash is too bland imo (does he have any moves other than spinning and jumping?).

So many better potential choices (kh, tales of, atelier, miku, monita), but Sakurai's gesture (assuming it's a hint) doesn't seem to lead to any of them....prob not waluigi as Sakurai looks too happy in the picture.

Hmmmm...what could it be???

Re: Feature: Game Of The Decade Staff Picks - Miitomo

DeltaPeng

Miitomo was awesome, particularly for making (3D model) avatar pics and comics. Some of those costume items looked really great too. Would've been better if it were outside of the mobile pay scheme side of gaming and more like animal crossing or tomodachi life (pay once to own).

Despite it not having much popularity, I enjoyed it a lot and was sad to see it go

Re: Masahiro Sakurai Reminds Us He's Still Working Hard On DLC Fighters For Smash Bros. Ultimate

DeltaPeng

@garfreek Lloyd or some Tales of representative would be nice, I think Lloyd makes the most sense being most Nintendo, plus it's with Bandai Namco which also help create Smash, but I think they overuse putting main characters of a series in (and should opt for some more secondaries characters). So I'd say, Lloyd would be solid, but like Colette would be better, then we'd also have at least 1 female rep of this dlc pack (who's not the direct main character and yet again another sword wielding fighter).

That or Sora from Kingdom Hearts (or keyblade Kairi, or Shion or Aqua, which may make more sense cause then donald/goofy won't be expected to also be playable). Fingers crossed...

Though, since more DLC characters are being planned, and I'd say we could use more female reps, it'd be absolutely amazing if one of the Atelier gal characters got in, I'd go for Totori, Meruru, Ayesha, Escha; Wilbell, Linca, Odelia...etc. It'd be absolutely nuts if they made her like the Hero, so more chars are represented, but their clothing designs get pretty complex so...seems quite unlikely for the multiple option

Re: Review: AI: The Somnium Files - Another Gem From The Creator Of The Zero Escape Series

DeltaPeng

@AJWolfTill Hmm, I don't recall. During the puzzle scenes for that game I think I used a guide to get through them quick cause I just wanted to find out what was happening next.

That is quite crass though, that's unfortunate :/ Though it's mature nature in general wouldn't have me recommending it to younger folk anyway I suppose. Similar to the blond guy (...dio? it's been so long I forget the name) cursing up a storm, it just felt unnecessary and didn't add much if anything to character development

Re: Nintendo Wants To Focus On New "Experiences" For Switch, But Is Open To More Remakes

DeltaPeng

Ocarina of Time remastered, the other stuff I don't mind retro as that's part of it's charm, but old 3D hasn't aged all that well compared to pixel/2D art (generally, at least not old 3D attempting to be realistic, in that case Nintendo stuff still looks decent)

The other retro stuff, just bring it in it's current form via Virtual Console, I'd like to see games like Bomberman 64, Mischief Makers, Pokemon Puzzle League, etc just straight up ported
