Re: Soapbox: Miitomo's Days Are Numbered, But Its Death Was Written In The Stars From The Start

DeltaPeng

@Phle I echo sentiments that I thought Miitomo was a really fun little app, even though most of my friends didn't jump aboard. I ended up friending random people based off of other friends/suggested friends, and found a semi active group of like 10 people to keep things interesting (as a fair number of them would change their costumes on a weekly basis or so). Having the different people allowed me to make some nice Miifotos, and enjoy seeing how they costumed their mii's. A few times I made Miifoto comic pictures to reply to their answers, not sure if they ever saw them, but I had fun doing it.

That said, I assume you're still checking Miitomo out now? From now till the end, they look to be giving out 2,000 coins and 5 Tickets EACH DAY till the end! It's a great time to collect items and give Miitomo one last final hurrah.

Also, I liked Miitomo a lot for Miifoto. I'm pretty sure the app will fully be turned off when May rolls around, so I plan to get tons of items, snap lots of photos, and save them off to my device until then! (I have a few Miitomo pics on it if you'd like to see them: https://nintendofanyes.deviantart.com/ )

Re: Nintendo Direct Mini Is Happening Right Now

DeltaPeng

Yay, solid release date for Celeste! And pretty soon too!

I probably won't get it, but Tropical Freeze should ideally be $30 or under (based on it's Nintendo Select status, and not much content being added to it)

I think it's a solid start. Indie's are heavy on the Switch train, so that will definitely help inbetween Nintendo's releases

Re: CPU Exploits Meltdown And Spectre Could Potentially Affect Nintendo Switch

DeltaPeng

@DEZn00ts @Zyph Actually, I want a Switch XL. It'd be less portable, but it'd be better for local co-op via Tabletop mode (+ presumably larger more comfortable joycons). I don't see this as being a problem as a variant for some people who enjoy Docked and Tabletop mode more than portable. The old joycons could stick work, just not attach, that's not too difficult. The main issue would be waiting for a better CPU likely, but that's why it's a second iteration of Switch.

You're welcome to disagree if you want, but it's a viable and not too farfetched Want, as Switch encourages local co-op/comp play on the go.

Re: Nintendo Switch Continues to Dominate in Japan

DeltaPeng

@PlywoodStick Well..isn't pokemon among the top selling franchises (one wiki article seems to indicate it beats Grand Theft Auto per sales of the franchise, as well as Call of Duty, Sims, etc)?

It's no small feat for studios to attain pokemon level status/popularity...

Re: 'Super Famicom Wars' And 'Princess Minerva' Translated to English

DeltaPeng

I presume Super Famicon Wars is an earlier entry of basically Advance Wars . Love that series, though I liked 1 and 2 on GBA the best (thought the Advance Wars DS art style wasn't as good, too much to keep track of with Dual Screens). Would love to see Virtual Console release of the first 2 on Switch! Loved the cartoony surprise expressions on the intro ;p

Princess Minerva looks interestly/typical anime off the wall per story (which I generally enjoy as long if they keep it tactful enough), but I like that they try to change up the turn based RPG formula.

Re: New Stages, Hair Styles, Battle Mode and More Confirmed for Huge Splatoon 2 Updates

DeltaPeng

YUUUSS!!! Give me Walleye Warehouse!

I felt the clothes so far were a bit lacking in variety (compared to the original), and I still think the original had better stages, but it certainly is nice that more clothes/hairstyles are incoming, as well as a remaking of those classic stages!

And a new mode sounds great! I think Salmon Run was a very nice addition to Splatoon. Was definitely not expecting an update this large, kudos to Nintendo for their hard work on it!!

Re: Review: Spelunker Party! (Switch eShop)

DeltaPeng

It would help if it was more gracious and you didn't die so easily by falling / jumping at a slight height difference from the landing point, because of that I'd say it probably will have less enjoyment if you or your group of friends get frustrated easily.

If not, from the demo it seemed like a fun little co-op game, with the easy deaths having potential to be seen as comedic, particularly if the group is all rushing to complete the goal.

The main gripe I felt I saw during the demo was just screen space, it looks like it could be difficult to see on split screen, and sometimes the the View looked like it was smaller than it could've or needed to be (with fewer players). I may pick it up at some point

@TobiasAmaranth1 Thanks for the share! Helps give context/background on this...series? The video is pretty funny so far, and I see they use the same music in the game as in the show

To others, recommend checking the video out that TobiasAmaranth1 mentions for the first minute, and then from 15:55 onward seems pretty good

Re: Limited Run Games Will Publish Physical Copies of Indie Titles On Switch Next Year

DeltaPeng

@speedracer216 I agree, though pre-order may not be the exact terminology, it would be nice if they took orders prior to production (to satisfy everyone who wants a copy at the time), and then print an extra set amount of like an extra 30-40% of that number for others who may've not put in an order but may want one down the line.

That ensures you don't over produce, yet also satisfy the hardcore/collector/demand.

Re: Review: Party Golf (Switch eShop)

DeltaPeng

So....I don't think the article mentions how you actually play the game.

Do you just use the joystick to aim, or is it joystick to aim, press a button to fire? Can you change the amount of power by holding the button? Thanks in advance to anyone who can answer my questions.

From video footage it seems like it could be a fun game to pickup and play with friends.

Re: Bandai Set To Release Stunning New Set Of Physical PokéBalls

DeltaPeng

I'm fine with blind packs when the chances are good and it's not too expensive. That said, since there's like 6 models and you get a pack of 10, the chances (that you'll find at least one or two that you like) should be pretty good.

Sounds like they're probably on the smaller end too I'd guess (since you get 10 of them), or perhaps it's just priced higher?

Re: Review: Stardew Valley (Switch eShop)

DeltaPeng

$15 is a great asking price

My favorite of the genre is Harvest Moon, Back to Nature on PC. I know they made a GBA port, but it's not quite the same as I loved the audio and music (and the original Playstation version tops the port). I enjoyed a bit of Rune Factory on DS as well (liked the addition of more RPG elements), though a lot of the sequels and other games in both series I didn't care as much for.

Anyway, played a bit of Stardew Valley on PC, couldn't quite get into it, though I also have been pickier with games and I don't have as much time to sink into them. An auto-run button would be handy in a game like this (if it hasn't been implemented yet, ideally just press a button to toggle auto-run, rather than hold, as this game has a fairly large town). I've heard a good number of HM fans recommend SV though, so if you like HM I recommend giving this a try.

Re: Sonic 3D Blast Developer Explains Bizarre In-Game Easter Egg

DeltaPeng

Per the article, good story, fun to learn the background of this 'bug' and why the players mistook it for an actual secret.

Sonic 3D Blast is a pretty fun and great game, though I have to say the Sega Saturn version was way better because the special stages rocked (and the genesis version of it...well, I couldn't figure out what was going on the first few times, and comparatively it's quite terrible).

Sadly, my Sega Saturn broke and the only other version I have is on the Gamecube collection that for some reason is the Sega Genesis version (with imo, terrible special stages). Makes the game a lot less fun, but hopefully the Sega Saturn version will come out again someday (pretty sure the Steam version is also the lesser version).

Re: Review: Lovers in a Dangerous Spacetime (Switch eShop)

DeltaPeng

From the videos, the ship seems kind of small, and makes me wonder how easy it is to see the players (in TV and in portable mode).

For anyone who has the game on the Switch, can you tell me how it looks from that standpoint? Can the characters and ship rooms be readily seen in both modes?

Re: Guide: Getting Started With The Pokémon Trading Card Game

DeltaPeng

The classic cards were really good, I like that the game is fairly easy to learn, but has a fair amount of strategy. They were fun to collect, had good art, and it was fun to play with others. I remember doing extra chores to buy extra booster packs, I dug out a bush from the roots for extra money ;p

That said, the latest cards aren't very good imo in terms of balance. Mainly the EX pokemon cards ruin everything, because you can have EX starter pokemon. If ALL of them required heavy and diverse energy requirements it may not've been an issue, but being able to immediately place starter pokemon with 100+ HP who can attack quickly at very high amounts of damage is...game balance breaking. It's unfortunate, but it was fun while it lasted.

That said! If anyone is interested in playing the game without spending a lot of money, I 120% recommend picking up the Virtual Console title, Pokemon Trading Card Game on the 3DS for $6 (original was gameboy color). The game has mostly the classic cards, and has fantastic music. It's a solid game in it's own right, and has the pokemon format of battling through gyms to become the champion (except with no towns or much walking). If the music came out on itunes I'd buy it in a flash.

Re: Mario Party: The Top 100 Will Combine The Best Of The Series On 3DS

DeltaPeng

I thought about the idea of a best-of Mario Party recently, glad it's coming, but as others say, it'd have been better on the Switch. If there aren't boards, they should be there in some substantial form too.

I will say kudos for making it local multiplayer with a single game cartridge, but that still means you need 2-4 3DS systems to make the best use of it, which is unfortunate.

Re: Miiverse Could Live Forever Thanks To A Fearless Web Developer

DeltaPeng

The transient nature of miiverse was one reason I avoided posting too much art on it, but game screenshots and comments were a fun way to interact with others (or meme it up)

That said, there were a lot of impressive art on Miiverse regardless. If it's still up, I'd advise those people to go (to the PC version of miiverse) and save their own art out to their computer as a backup.

Re: Apollo Justice: Ace Attorney Will Make Its Case on 3DS in November

DeltaPeng

I love the Phoenix Wright series but...why this? Seems like a waste of resources, they could've just ported the existing game over to the eshop (since DS games can be played on 3DS). The only major selling point I see here is better graphics, cause it's basically the same platform.

If it was the Switch you'd get TV mode (which I'd be interested in), and the last re-release was the Trilogy so you got more bang for the buck.

Capcom is a great developer with some really awesome games, but their decisions/support lately have been questionable (even from a strictly business standpoint).
