Fortnite developer Epic Games has placed a lifetime ban on a professional player after he was found to be cheating in a series of videos shared online.
Jarvis Kaye, known in the Fortnite community as a member of the eSports team FaZe Clan, has shared the news online in a video released to his two million subscribers on YouTube. He notes that the ban has come in response to a series of his own videos in which he uses aimbots, cheating software that improves the accuracy of your shooting in-game.
In his emotional announcement, Kaye says, "All I was thinking about whilst I was making those videos was just how entertaining and interesting these videos would be for you guys to watch. It didn’t even cross my mind to think that I could be banned for life from Fortnite from those videos". He goes on to explain that he has never used the cheats in a competitive game mode and is left in tears as he highlights the fact that he'll never be able to play Fortnite again.
Note: The video below contains some bad language.
Despite his apology to Epic Games in the latter half of the video, and indeed the outcry from his most dedicated followers who have started a '#FreeJarvis' campaign online, Fortnite's terms and conditions are strict on the use of aimbot technologies; all players agree to the risk of having their account deleted for cheating when signing up to play.
Speaking to The Independent, Epic Games says, "We have a zero tolerance policy for the usage of cheat software. When people use aimbots or other cheat technologies to gain an unfair advantage, they ruin games for people who are playing fairly".

Who cares? This idiot got what he deserved...
Great picture!
Womp womp. That’s all I got.
Awesome and Haha Haha you got what you deserve.
Uhm, that zero tolerance must be new.
One player got caught cheating trying to qualify for the world cup. Was banned for a short time - but not until the world cup qualifications were over - and then qualified. Are you kidding me...?
They had a verified cheater playing the world cup.
Well, I hope they can now zero tolerance the rest of it.
Ha, I just LOVE this kinda stuff. Idiot cheater crying over how he can never play his favorite game anymore. As if there isn't far more important stuff happening in the world to worry and cry about...
#mountainoutofamolehill
Wow. People have some weird priorities nowadays.
haha what a silly billy and the internet will never forget.
Oh ok, thanks for sharing.
To be honest, i do think lifetime ban at your first offense is a bit excessive
But can't blame Epic for the decision either, so...
😂😂 Younger generation really has no sense of choice and consequences.
Though I wouldn’t be surprised if the ban is lifted in a year.
> much baww
> nobody cares.
Lol what a degenerate. At least now he can cure his stupid addiction. Didn't cross his mind you shouldn't cheat? If he got something resembling a brain, he'll outgrow stupid Fortnite and be humping all over campus, never thinking about this silly game again. Grow up dude.
@erv Maybe they did it on purpose because a) he's an eSport dude and not some casual guy, b) it generates a buzz and free advertising for fartnight and c) it might scare off potential cheaters.
@Gwynbleidd That's 10K+ years of evolution for you in a nutshell!
Him: "I can never play Fortnite, again"
Me: "Make another account and just play the game on your own without cheats and don't post it on the internet. Problem solved if you love the game that much."
Yes, he will lose his profile. Yes, he probably lost A LOT of money in streaming revenue. But, now it's time to work on something else and play games for himself.
How about, instead of crying on the internet, use this as a learning experience and do differently - the way losing and making mistakes are supposed to work.
IDGAF about no IDDQDer.
His “fans” - what a time to be alive when this little snot bag has fans. The ego on these guys. I never heard of him before know nothing about him.
Ha at the ban.
Cheating for entertainment is still cheating.
That’s the issue with these influencers that have never had a proper job they don’t understand basic things.
Like rules and working for a living
Yeah, he messed up, but we all do. A Lifetime ban is pretty extreme. A several months ban would have been enough to teach him to never do it again. EG do have zero tolerance so I guess that's that.
This is so funny!
A dude cries like a little dog because he got caught cheating
No Fortnite money huh?
Ha haaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa, i love this type of sh#t, brags about being an elite player, posts himself cheating.
@SuperDan64 What good would that do, that would mean if you knew how to cheat you could just carry on doing so knowing that if you get caught you just can't play for a few months. A lifeban is totally justified.
Eh, he knew what he was doing, think of the other 99 people having to play with a cheater. While I don’t exactly revel in his tears, it does give ones my age a bad name. I’d think there’d be better things to cry about, like the climate emergency or the deaths of thousands of Kurd or Palestinian children.
Ahaha, what an idiot, he doesn't deserve any sympathy.
@BarefootBowser Making life mistakes and cheating are not the same thing especially when it's a source of revenue.
That photo is what’s wrong with his generation.
Get Rekt'd! You cheat you get banned, simple as that!
A professional gamer should know that cheating in multiplayer games is not allowed and usually has consequences, and those consequences are often bans.
A kid should also have learned that cheating is frowned upon and makes games less fun for the people playing with you.
I saw his video where he was cheating. He was joking all the time about getting banned, the only difference is that he thought he was going to get away with it because he was using an alt account. Honestly seeing that video made me wonder a lot about game addiction and how deeply Fornight is rooted as a requirement for younger players
Hahaha sucks to be him
@BarefootBowser So the effects of his actions on the 99 other players in those games don't matter? It's ok to ruin other peoples experience simply because it's not a tournament and he's doing it for entertainment purposes?
It's ridiculous you think he's more important than anyone else simply because he makes YouTube videos.
Not gonna lie, this brought me joy this morning. If you cheat expect consequences — competitive play or not, he was ruining a fair experience for everyone else. I have no sympathy for him.
The more I watch this video, the more I burst out laughing.
@Gwynbleidd I'm being sarcastic!
I'm pretty sure EVERYONE who plays a game and cheats knows exactly what the risks are. We're taught from a very young age that cheating is wrong and is normally punished in our society. That's why its frowned upon and why people generally HIDE the fact that they've done it.
You cheat on a test and caught? Punished. Whether that punishment is substantial or not remains to be seen, but the kid is taught "hey, if I do this, it'll have negative consequences for me".
This kid is at least 14-15. So he's FULLY aware of what he's doing and the repercussions. And as someone mentioned above, he was joking about getting banned too when he thought he could get away with it. So there's no reason to defend his actions. Case closed.
Jesus, just play a different game and get good at that.
Moron, moron etc
Crying over a computer game...
Grow some like.
Maybe his Fortnite online craaer is ruined but he can just make another account if he wants to keep playing although in a more private way if he doesn't want to be banned again. But that was a fair ban like if u cheat, u acknowledge the consequences.
Of course, just because it’s not an official competitive match the guy should be free to ruin the experience of the other players in the match for his stream 🙄. This is why I stick to playing games for fun.
I am so sick of hearing about this overratted game. In my day we didn't play games online and the only ones telling us we couldn't play our precious videogames were our parents after we got grounded.
These kids today with their internets, cell phones and mypods! Acting like the world is coming to an end over a videogame.
Yeah i may sound like cranky kong but dang grow a pair!
He seems to have been pretty dumb. Also, the idea that he was just doing this for entertainment sake seems kinda stupid. What’s entertaining about watching someone using aim bots?
Also if someone with a following makes videos about using cheats, then that encourages his followers to try using cheats.
Of course a ban would follow.
Is Fornite actually played on Switch?
@BarefootBowser While I would tend to agree with you in a general sense, I think that most of the "jumping on him" in this case, comes from him making a cry baby video about it, and complaining, feeling sorry for himself, trying to explain it away with invalid reasons.
He should have just made a short statement, instead of making it a pity party video, so for me personally, it was more that than the cheating itself. You did something wrong, of course you're getting punished, but instead of crying about it, you should just accept that as a logical consequence, and get on with your life.
And besides all that, it's just a game, for crying out loud, nothing to get so overly upset about, really.
It's bad enough he made the video but now he's gonna have his cry baby pictures all over the internet and this site as well as others having a go at him over it all.
Poor kid is gonna get cyber bullied into oblivion!
@Zeldafan79 a pair of what?
A number of mistakes were made. But it's not like he is a little kid. It's a shame he has to learn this very painful way. Perhaps if his parents had done a better job and taught him from an early age that cheating is wrong and bragging about it is worse then he'd not have suffered this, honestly humiliation.
He should honestly withdraw from any online activity going forth or stick to anonymous accounts. Because the internet is cold and is going to rip him to shreds for cheating and then crying in a video apology. Harsh? YES it is. But the internet is not a nice place.
@Cartridgemaster
Exactly! From what i can tell he's got nothing to grow or maybe they just haven't dropped yet. LOL!
Now he can move on and do better things with his life.
Wait, I assumed from the thumbnail this was a Pokémon article. Whoops, I was way off.
Someone needs to start this dude a gofundme page, he needs to buy a new life lol
Good grief this chump has such a punchable face. Pretty much everything I despise about today's youth wrapped up in 1 video, obsesses over a crap game, is an "influencer" on YouTube, makes a tidy sum while contributing 0 to society and then cries about getting caught cheating and losing that revenue...and he has a mop on his head.
He was just thinking about how entertaining the videos would be for his viewers... To bad he didnt think how sh*tty he was making the game to those who were playing with him...
He's logic implies that commiting crimes and recording them is ok if that is entertaining for online viwers...
I still think a life ban is excesive though... It would be better to ban him a few months abd them force him to use a prefix in his nick such as "I am a sh*tty cheater".
@BarefootBowser At least in America, where politicians seem to currently be able to get away with anything, people get a little euphoric when they see actual justice being done for once lol
crying like a baby, god help him when he faces real problems in life.
this guy pretty much sums up whats wrong with some of the youth of today. so wrapped up in cotton wool and PC gone mad they really are unable to funtion in socity .
also people saying he's a kid he is 17 hardly a child old enough to know right from wrong and take the consequences of your actions.
@BarefootBowser True enough, and perhaps you should still follow your initial idea and contact NLife privately, although the cat's already out of the bag now, so yeah...
But all that aside, he may be a kid, but he's old enough to know that cheating, whether or not for entertainment value, clicks, likes, whatever, is NEVER a good or allowed thing, so he simply should have known better, and actually ESPECIALLY since he is a professional player. He probably not only disadvantaged himself, but his team as well, so there might even be additional consequences coming from this.
But we do agree in general on there not being much use in kicking someone who's already down.
Dude, the problem is you can't easily prove that you didn't cheat with aimbots while playing in competitive game modes. The footage certainly offers plenty of suspicion and doubt to those claims.
Cheating is still cheating. You break the terms of what you signed up for, you pay the price. While it sucks the guy can't play again, I have zero sympathy here.
Honestly, it's not that he cheated and got caught. Consequences seem fair to me especially if Epic Games wanted to make an example of someone.
It's that he was stupid enough to make a video showing it off. He flaunted it, and didn't think to himself, "yeah, I totally won't get in trouble". That's what makes this whole mess so entertaining.
I normally don't relish in kids' suffering. But he got what was coming to him, and hopefully he'll learn from this and grow. And yeah, the internet will never let him live it down. He'll be marked the rest of his life.
Cheater, and a "professional" player? I'm sorry, but even though I don't deny that if I feel sorry for the punished, he really DESERVES that punishment.
First, the cheats seriously bother the games, in an annoyance wanting to play well and for fun and someone arrives and with traps ruin the fun, and finally, if this was done by "being professional", it is the worst thing they can do.
What a waste of space! Grow up and move on!
Well... I hope he finds joy in a new game/hobby, I guess?
What is fortnite?
Glad Epic is taking a hardline stance. It's very frustrating to play against cheaters. Most gamers don't play competitively. He has no right to ruin the gaming experience of other people for his own gain.
@Scollurio I understand you not liking the game, but saying he should outgrow it and do what? Be a big boy and play big boy games like you?
@ThanosReXXX well its not just his favorite game, it was his JOB, he was a professional Fortnite Player, so he was paid for playing it. You'll be upset too if somebody fire you from the job you love...
He deserved it tho.
@Zequio Even more reason for him to have known better, then.
At this point it's just his word against his own evidence. "I could have stolen a lamorghini, here's proof with videos of me stealing other cars, but I promise never to have stolen expebsive ones!"
Guess he got FaZed out!
Hey-o!
Why can't he register another account? It's so easy, use a different email address.
Crying in front of the whole world because he can't play a video game is so pathetic.
The picture of him crying pleases me greatly.
I should put it on a wall in a golden frame.
@BarefootBowser maybe because he had a huge following and was profiting off his cheating, pushing it from “for lols” territory into actual fraud?
At this point it’s in line with people insulting and being happy about some big athlete being caught cheating or using performance enhancing drugs and being kicked out of the NFL or whatever leave for life.
He looks so said in he thumbnail.
I'm glad he got banned. Epic Games takes a hard stance on aim-assist programs for all players of all skill levels. Why should a casual player get a ban while a pro gets a slap on the wrist? Keep it fair.
Of course, the kid is upset, he was making good money on this. Sure it probably can't pan out to a lifelong career, but it's still a tidy sum he could put away for himself.
@nessisonett Ah, there's the political propaganda!
Winners Never Cheat and Cheaters Never Win.
Came for the clickbait, stayed for the boomers in the comments.
BAHAHAHAHA! That's so funny. You play with fire, you're gonna get burned.
That's nuts though that not only his time with Fortnite has ended, but probably his YouTube career too.
My kids have both watched Faze for years, when I showed my youngest son this he couldn’t stop laughing, would seem the loyal fan base have no sympathy 😂
Oh man. That thumbnail is perfect.
@BarefootBowser
Although it is true that many of us have not read a software, hardware, etc. contract. That of saying that for not knowing that we are doing something wrong when in those contracts they explicitly say that this is wrong, excuse me but it is silly; If that took you to trial, you would easily lose because by showing the contract and that is there, you lose.
Now, do you have a job ?, a job also has a contract, and if you don't read it or at least, you have the notion of how you should behave when being part of a company, business, even receiving money for sponsorships such as sporting events, then, you're lost.
@Aquamine-Amarine It’s propaganda in the same sense as Anti-Smoking PSAs. It’s true, it’s happening and yet people continue to turn a blind eye.
Now he'll always be known as a professional cry baby. He got what he deserved and that's hilarious.
How do you maneuver yourself into a justified Fortnite ban and then cry about it online?
Can't really call him a professional anymore if he was cheating all along, he doesn't deserve that title
@nessisonett How do you know if people turn blind eye to those issue on a gaming site? Because not every thread is about starving children and war conflicts or the Chinese government?
Do you see anti-smoking campaigns here at NintendoLife? No because it is NOT the site for such things.
That is why it is propaganda. Want to make a difference go and volunteer or send help to those people. Don't post about it on every thread.
@ThanosReXXX - I remember my sister, being in her 20s, crying over getting banned from Facebook. This moment has so many stark comparisons.
The kid is going to get dogpiled on, there is no stopping it, cause it's a cheater and many of us have felt how many times people like that get away with it. It's euphoric, but it also should state the size of his humble pie he is going to eat. His tearful video is just evident enough he has never had to gain some humility through his life up til now.
I ain't gunna jump on, the kid will have enough going by the level of the comments here. He has the skills to compete elsewhere and I suggest he takes a few slices of the pie with him in case he gets hungry like this again.
@Paraka Sound advice, surely.
@SonOfVon It's childish and pathetic crying over the loss of the ability to play a videogame, especially it's your own fault. He will outgrow the interest in the game and find other things to do. I did not say a thing about what I am doing. I'm just saying it's childish.
@Scollurio why everybody is missing the point of him being a PROFESSIONAL Fortnite player? He was banned not just for playing a video game, he was banned of playing a game that earned him money, a game that invested a lot of time and effort, and he is losing it.
Of course if its own fault and he deserved it, but he is not crying just because he cannot play his favorite game.
So the guy decides to cheat on public servers to make "fun" videos - ruining the experience of other people in the server at the time so he can commercially entertain via disallowed game mods.....and seems surprised and upset that this practice is bannable? The fact that he did it isn't the worst problem. The fact that it never even crossed his mind that he shouldn't is what's wrong. It's bad enough to engage in bad behavior, knowing it's bad, and risking it for the reward anyway. It's a whole other level of worse when you're incapable of recognizing bad behavior at all, assuming everything is fair game for you, like a savage raised by wolves.
@bimmy-lee "Gotta' shoot 'em all!" ?
@Gwynbleidd what's your point professional football player is also a term
Lol just play another game 4head a shooter is a shooter if you're great at Fortnite just play Apex legends or something
@HappyMaskedGuy maybe this will be a good thing for him, he can go outside and have a LIFE instead.
That's great! Cheating in a single player game is whatever, but when you do it in a multiplayer online game you're cheating the other players and you should be banned.
What a goofy looking guy.
All he needs to do is create a new character and play again under a different name.
This will not change his life. What an idiot though
And in regards to the hashtag I bet somoen has started the #F*ckJarvis by now
@Zequio Im perfectly aware of this and not missing anything. It makes it even worse, if you want me to view this like "someone lost his job" then he should've read the contractional obligations of his employer, if common sense wasn't enough to tell him that cheating is something you really shouldn't do. This dude is just plain stupid. If a videogame is your career choice one should think you'd do nothing to endanger your "employment". Right?
@Jack_Goetz The picture is almost funny.
@NoTinderLife I don't know if it is as simple as a new email address/account, but you are correct on the level that he is getting that distraught over a video game. Sure, he made money, and it was practically his job, but he made his choices. He has to own up.
Alright, I'll admit, I laughed at the picture too, but it's not nice to revel in this dumb kid's misery.
Hopefully this illustrates for his audience that using cheats of any kind in an online multiplayer game is a really bad idea.
I think this is the right decision. Not only did he openly cheat, if no repercussions would follow, this would invite his fan base to cheat or create a two class system, where people famous enough would be spared from the banhammer.
Something the uploader should have thought about way before.
In time he's going to regret posting that video online far more than he ever regrets cheating at Fortnite. Yeah he's only a kid but come on, for a 16 year old this is embarrassing.
This is an unfortunate case study on the Youtube/social media economy at its worst; the toxic online culture of virally propping up teenagers overnight and watching them compete in a digital race to the bottom, their inevitable and humiliating public demise an essential piece to the spectacle.
Obviously he considered himself an internet celebrity and thusly the exception to the rule, ie I'm just cheating as a content creator. The irony is these "influencers" stumble so quickly into the limelight that they have no concept of choice and consequence and stumble off just as fast.
Well kid, welcome to life. Theres consequences to being crappy. You're 17, you should and probably do know better. Competitive mode or not, if you were on the opposite end of that crap, youd be furious. Especially in a game like this. Good on Epic.
He cried? Lol. Cheaters never win. Cheaters ruin games.
If you cheat on a multiplayer game you are ruining another persons experience in the game, he got what he deserved. If you decide to cheat on something you should be 100% willing to go with any consequences associated with this. It's one thing to use cheats in a solo game, but if you are playing against other players and they do not even know you are cheating then they deserve it.
I wonder if in competitions they actually have anything to check if the person is cheating. I suspect if he had the option to cheat, he did.
Also dude can totally play Fortnite again, he'll just get the new account banned if they find out it's him. So what he actually means is, "I can't stream Fortnite again."
@BarefootBowser
It is obvious, the point is that, a game like Fornite has a contract, we all sign it when downloading the game, when playing it for the first time, in fact, they always ask that if you accept the terms and conditions, that is the contract; and in this case, the contract of that game, I suppose, includes behavior to play this game that includes as "breach" the use of cheat and hacking systems, and if it clearly says that in making this breach it means ban, ban you will receive, and you can't complain about that.
Now, as an employee of a company, something common in contracts is that it clearly says that you must "give a good profile" on and out the job, that is, behave as it should be; and that includes for people who make money, to make money, you sign a contract, and it's the same, behavior is part of the contract; you break it and you will receive a punishment.
This "pro" player breached 2 contracts, the one of the game and the one who supported them economically for playing that game, then what did you expect, that they gave him a small punishment, especially for what he represented, a "pro" player who should not show an attitude of support Cheats and hacking.
Well there are consequences to our actions. He is old enough to know that cheating is wrong and is punishable. If he was like 4 then maybe I'd say ban him for like a year or something but an older teenager, yeah he knew better; but people like to give teens a free pass because its their "rebel phase" or whatever. No excuse.
"I just want to do what I truly love most in life!"
Ffs, It's just a damn game. Play CS:GO, PUBG, Overwatch, move the heck on and quit your bawling.
Honestly I hate Faze. They are all sellouts who hate their fans and act like jerks. They make clickbait and arent even good. Good riddance kid you deserved this
@BarefootBowser
Ok, so your point is that since he made a mistake "for being young" and "don't know rules", I suppose, he should not receive heavy punishment?
Ok, assuming this, let's see, to be a "pro" player who made money, because he made money, he should have something called responsibility, he made a mistake, then there is punishment, because that is to be responsible for his actions.
He, as a "pro" player, should know that cheats and hacks are bad, obviously, then, even if it wasn't when he played as a "pro player", as I mentioned before, his behavior when using those things even Outside the online also affected his "profile", that is rule, whether or not he knows.
It is true, we all make mistakes, but from mistakes to Errors, we must know that if there is a punishment, we must assume it, and that ""we are taught since we were little"", so, even if he says no, he could have I knew that what he was doing was very bad and that he should have thought about the consequences of his actions.
@BarefootBowser He's clearly better than me at the game, i'm obviously going to revel in his downfall. Kid or not, cheating is cheating and how does anybody know that he wasn't using it in competition? He can now saunter off and become the king of paladins.
@BarefootBowser Totally agree! Thanks for speaking up.
@BarefootBowser
Well, sorry, but then, what really is your point for this conversation?, to know and respond and understand you.
Ugh his disgusting wet face crying how fortnite is the most important thing in his life? What a sad little rat, tells me all I need to know, is probably the type who treats his family like crap and ignores them just to play crappy fortnite?! Only wish I could be there when life really creeps up on you and nails it into your 2 bit brain what is important.
Man, a bit of high horse around here, we all make mistakes, even if "you knew" about said mistakes.
Hell, you don't get lifetime prison in most countries for homicide, I KNOW, incredibly different situations, but come on, he should be punished accordingly, and if he does it again, ok, go ahead.
Like i said, i can't blame Epic for the decision (their rules), but it doesnt make it any less excessive
@SakuraHaruka His/her point is that there are a lot of people here in the forums that enjoy kicking this pro-gamer while he is down.
Someone who plays games and puts videos of it online is considered a professional gamer? What’s happened to this world?
@NEStalgia - Internet tears, I choose you!
@ARPK - Most of you “okay boomer” kiddos are whiffing on what a boomer is by an entire generation. By all means, continue your campaign though. Your youthful ignorance sustains me.
Oh come on... who CARES?! If you take joy in the kid crying, you're a douche. If Fortnite has created gamers that cry on Youtube, then sucks to be them. Also 'professional' gamers and them making headlines when they get banned... I don't want to live on this planet anymore. Such an overrated game. Play something else.
@Deathwalka in all fairness mate, when you were a kid you probably thought a piece of entertainment or pop culture or your latest sneakers were the most important thing on the planet...
The world has professional Fortnite players?!
Wait, cheating is bad? I DIDN'T KNOW, NOBODY TOLD ME THIS WHY ARE YOU BEING SO MEAN TO ME I WAS ONLY CHEATING A LITTLE BIT
Can't he just create a new account?
I'm more offended by that haircut.
It's horrific how stupid some people can be. It was a game-illegal modification, of course he'd get banned for it.
@bimmy-lee And yet you felt so deeply compelled to reply, it looks like I get a pretty good return on my ignorance too.
Time to face the real world, kiddo! You'll thank Epic for this some day.
@Slits no I’m 35 we don’t have the millennial entitlement that you have. I played sports, not crying over street fighter not being in my Xmas stocking. Now go white knight for some other random boy on YouTube
@ARPK - Ah, yes, that makes sense. You’ve made a great point. You should be proud.
What a waste of money and yet he still gets greedy and exploits sheesh people are weird and not smart alot these days or years now.
what an idiot, your not supposed to cheat in a way that affects other people whether it be in a game or a relationship. now if it was something like using an exp x2 code or some sprite mod in some video game that has no, or dose not affect online interaction there wouldn't be much of a problem.
also, he might not of gotten hit this hard if he didn't showcase his idiocy, instead he set himself up to be the example meant to deter cheaters and his weeping on camera does nothing but show how pathetic he is.
He got what he deserved, did he expect if he cries a bit he's going to get away with it? Then can't we all just cry in a video the be exempt of our wrong doings? Pls. If Epic unbans him, i hope no one keeps supporting their games.
@bimmy-lee This comment section may be a dumpster fire but you're fun and I like you.
@Gwynbleidd It happ ns with football and baseball too. I even hear there are professional tennis players. What is the world coming to. Getting paid to play with balls.
@ARPK - I agree, it smells like burning diapers. Let’s blow this joint and go grab a cold one... soda... something we can both drink.
@Scollurio "It's childish and pathetic crying over the loss of the ability to play a videogame"
Well, You are missing the point in your comment.
Surely he deserve being banned. But he is not crying just because he cant play a video game...
Guys, let's just make this comments section a chat place and ignore all the dumb comments about this article.
You cheated ...you got banned ...Deal with it crybaby
Um.. play something new?
Haha cri moar
@Yorumi I used to play Brawl online, and I would get frustrated at my oppoents who used chaingrabs against me because there is no way for many characters to escape chaingrabs and many of them link into 0-Death Combos.
I'll admit, I did my fair share of screaming at my TV and calling my oppoent all kinds of unsavory names(thank god there was no voice chat). When I play Call of Duty, especially the older ones like Black Ops I or II, I still curse at any quick scopers that I play against.
It's easy to call somebody a cheater, especially if you grow frustrated at their tactics, and have no way to counter them. But at the end of the day, the chaingrabs in Brawl and Quckscoping in Black Ops I and II are players who have taken advantage of mechanics in the game or flaws in the engine or oversights that the developers never considered when they made the game.
That's what creates a thriving metagame. Players will push the envelope of the engine or find new ways to play characters or weapons that nobody ever considered before.
Most of Melee's metagame is built around taking advantage of flaws and oversights that the developers missed in Melee's engine.
Do I consider chaingrabs in Brawl cheap and Bulls***? Yes, because it pretty much wrecks the balance of a game if you're helpless to escape.
But there's a difference between playing cheaply by taking advantage of certain game mechanics and outright cheating.
An aimbot gave him an unfair advantage against his opponents in a match. Even if we argue that it was all in good fun, there were still players who lost unfairly because one player was cheating in the match.
He was not taking advantage of mechanics in the game. He was using an outside program and then posting videos on Youtube.
Even if he kept it in casual modes, other players have their games unfairly disrupted by him. People might argue that a lifetime ban is too harsh, but I disagree. He cheated, and then made videos showing himself cheating. Epic did the right thing here.
If he was taking advantage of in-game mechanics to do something cool that game him an edge, I would have no problem with it. But using an outside program gave him an edge other people did not have.
But let's suppose Epic did let him off the hook. All it tells other players is that it's fine to cheat, just don't be so obvious about it. This guy might have enough respect to not cheat in casual matches.
How about other players? If Epic does not try to fight this issue, it could come back to hurt them if matches become full of cheaters who scare away honest players.
I may curse at my TV and call a player cheap if they play in a certain way that annoys me, especially if I keep losing to them. But at the end of the day, they are simply using in-game mechanics to their advantage. Cheating, on the other hand, breaks the game, and modifies it in a way that's unfair to other players. That's my problem with it, and I'm glad he got banned.
ROFL behold the next best internet meme!
Maybe now he will go outside and see the beauty the world has to offer.
"Boohoo how should I earn money now, I can't do anything else..."
Man up and back to reality
article picture reminds me of Toothless from How to Train your Dragon smiling
Yeah cuz its entertaining to cheat on "non competitive gamemodes" (because I guess it's ok to mess with non competitive players who just want to enjoy their game ?)
What the cluck you were thinking ? Publishing online yourself cheating ???
A lifetime ban seems a bit excessive here. Seems like Epic is trying to make an example of him. They could have just deleted his account and made him start over or something. I don't even like cheating in offline games, but they're basically destroying his life for an offense that any other sport would give a 3 game suspension.
That's what happens if you cheat online and that's good.
My friend got banned from Mario Kart Tour for cheating and I laughed at him for the cheater he is. Suits him.
Wow, all dese comments and responses because people get a chance to hate on someone? Bit sad, really.
@Yorumi I don’t particularly care how people earn their money. If they can earn money doing something they enjoy doing then great but I wouldn’t class playing games a profession. I’d say he was more of an entertainer of sorts, a lot of my work involves driving but I wouldn’t call myself a professional driver.
No sympathy here. Idiot uploaded proof of his cheating and got caught. He got what he deserved. And besides, it's a freaking video game. Life goes on.
@bimmy-lee Ethics and rules are for old people, didn't you know?
Those are some mighty nice looking knee caps those kids have....it'd be a shame if something were to happen to them. Thank goodness we're not old and therefore ethics and rules don't apply to us. Baton or baseball bat?
Get a new system and sign up with a new email. Then just don't livestream anymore. If playing the game is what is important to you, you can still play despite your account be banned. If however playing the game while streaming is what is important to you because it can net you money, well then too bad, so sad, maybe if you don a disguise or animated puppet or something for your videos you could create a new account for streaming that wouldn't get recognized as you either.
@Yorumi Erm...the guy used an aimbot. You don't need to read the EULA to know that's banned if you have a few brain sells and a modicum of self-awareness. It was unacceptable in Quake in the mid-90's too. There's nothing newfangled here. We're not talking about "playing wrong" and hiding in the corner in USFII.
Kids aren’t the brightest? Sure
Fortnite is a pretty dumb thing to cry about? Most definitely!
This comment section is as toxic as the air in a room full of people eating Taco Bell? YES!
Doesn’t anyone else see this is a good thing?I mean I really despise this game and what it makes 10 year olds do with their parents money I’m surprised it isn’t banned
@NEStalgia - Wild, youthful knee caps have appeared. NES and bimmy use baseball bats. They were very effective!
@SuperDan64 cheating is never ok he deserves it he was cheating in the first place hes upset he was caught and penalized....its like getting a ticket usiing your phone while driving i got two in my life time never again.
That picture is absolutely perfect.
@Zequio Because he "lost his job?" in the most pathetic way possible? Listen, I really don't want to stir up a mess, this whole thing probably isn't worth both our time anyways, it's just when I read through the news, all the horrible things that happen and then I come across this, ... it's hard to hold myself back!
@Jack-kouhai You think Nintendolife is toxic? Ever been in the comment section of any austrian online newspaper? Ever played LoL? This is heaven!
@Yorumi What you're describing is like having better equipment in a sports scenario. Gaming devices with macros and DPI settings etc. is just that. If you want to compete on a high level, you gotta invest in your equipment. Beating someone in a car-race because you have the faster car isn't cheating, running it on some magic fuel that makes it goe faster than physically possible is. An aimbot is exactly that, it's automated aiming assistence. Most of all this is only relevant in eSports scenarios on PCs anyways. If you're playing fortnite on switch though, you also have a huge advantage if you use a pro controller over the joycons because of more sensitive and range of motion of the thumbsticks. Still, it's not cheating.
Cheaters never prosper.
“booHoo I cHeaT At foRtnIte gaMe aN get baNNED 😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭”
@Scollurio Keep eating up the lies. Nintendo Life is one of the worst Nintendo communities on the internet.
LOL
That's all I want to type NL.
@Yorumi I enjoy sharing viewpoints with you, but I don't think it's hard to draw the line what is cheating at all, at least for me. I'd say looking at real life sports can bring a solution to it all. Let's say you're a runner and a marathon is up. It's fine to prepare by training extra hard, sleep longer, have a special diet and drink more water the days before the run. All of it will put you in a small advantage over someone who doesn't do it. It's up to them to prepare their way. If you can afford "faster shoes", bring them. All fine. But the RULES say what ISN'T allowed. Doping for example. The "rules" of all online games, especially competitive ones state clearly that you're not allowed to use third party software to manipulate the game or gain an unfair advantage - which would be an aimbot. So, if you're not sure what's cheating, look it up in the rules. If it says it's unfair, it's cheating.
BUT... to make this all even more "grey zone"... what about "aim assist" that some shooters have in the options? What about driving aids in racing sims? Is it cheating? I think the KEY to it all is that in a competitive setting ALL play by the same rules. ALL should be using the same type of controller (wheel or pad), driving line should either be ON or OFF for everyone, etc. By using an aimbot when everyone else isn't, youre clearly gaining an unfair advantage.
I still see where you're coming from and I think it's an interesting discussion, but using better equipment for gaming isn't "cheating" for me personally. THAT SAID, I'm just a laid back casual gamer and don't care for all of that!
Welcome to the real world. Your choices have consequences. Instead of crying over it realize you did this to yourself, take your lumps and move on.
@tobsesta99 Honestly, I even think it's too heavily moderated. I won't use sleep over some random, bored person on the interwebs insulting me. You're probably not old enough, but the communities of ULTIMA ONLINE back in the day, man that was gold... we didn't even have the word "troll" yet so we had to use profanities, LOTS and LOTS of them!
I remember his stupid Fortnite in class video that was staged and the detention sequel. Even five year olds could tell it was fake and I am pretty sure it wasn't a sketch because it wasn't funny.
@Scollurio
If the original forum of Atomix still exists (a videogame magazine from Mexico-Latin America); that forum community towards seeing any toxic community as newbies in training.
@Yorumi A bit defensive there, man. It's just a sad commentary on the world. Like professional hot dog eaters
He can play Fortnite again - just not professionaly. Ie.. for money.
Haha. This dumb crybaby deserves it.
Cheating is a big problem, especially if you're playing it professionally in a multiplayer game (if it's single player, you only ruin the experience for yourself). Fortnite being as big as it is, it makes sense for them to send a strong message against it
Never used cheats competitively? That's what ur ass just got busted for.
Good. It leaves players like me in a better situation not being aimbotted by stupid inconsiderate players. I just wanna have casual fun and using my 4K display and high DPI mouse to snipe people with a pistol very far away.
@Faruko EPIC Games has to be excessive, since youtubers have a huge influence on their viewers.
He was using aimbots on youtube and if he had gotten away with it or even just got a temporary ban, it will send the wrong message and other people think they can start cheating too with little risk and repercussions.
He got what he deserved! He thought he could get quick fame on youtube, make money by boasting about using aimbots in Fortnite and now he got caught and can no longer make money off of Fortnite.
Too bad too sad. Hard lesson learned. Hope for him he didn't quit school, as might need to get a real job now.
and here i thought aimbot was only a problem with pc games, especially on online fps games like roblox.
@GAMER1984dude I didn't say cheating was okay. A punishment is in order. Losing his account and losing all of progress was a big hit for him and a lesson in itself, but if making another account doesn't allow him to play at all, then I think that's over doing it. For him to not get paid to play from now on is definitely valid though. I don't think it's right to enjoy and laugh at someone elses failures, which of course you didn't do, but others have.
@BarefootBowser Your comment says a lot about you not understanding sarcasm.
@bimmy-lee I’d call that pic a visual representation of a Pokemon comment section.
... do what I truly want most in life [is to play Fortnite]
What a hekkin mess, this guy is.
These type of bans are honestly a blessing for those who are so far removed from consequence and need this constant fix.
@SakuraHaruka lol I'll take your word for that!
@Yorumi All is good! I know what you mean. It reminds me of the "loot cave EXPLOIT" in Destiny 1. Exactly what you said. A known exploit that the developer didn't patch out for a long time. I always say: If you don't want your system to be abused, make it abuse-proof. Such things really are on the developer. It's like handing a toddler a box of matchsticks and then yelling at him for setting the house on fire.
@Gwynbleidd If he has a contract and is paid to play videogames, then yeah, he's a professional player. Same as with athletes, they get paid to play sports, they're also professionals. Not all professionals are white-collar workers who need degrees and certifications/licenses. You should look up the dictionary definition of professional sometime.
I have zero tolarence for Fortnite but this ban seems overly harsh. A year long ban would have been enough.
I don’t see what’s stopping him from privately making a new account under a different name. The reason he’s crying is because he can’t publicly play or monetize his games anymore. Welcome back to the real world, buddy.
Why do pathetic losers like this get headlines?
@BarefootBowser I don't need to be careful with anything as i literally don't care. I said essentially that i was revelling in someones misery because he was better at the game than me. You stupidly took that as a literal comment and then felt the need to stupidly comment on my character based on that.
@Nomad How was this overly harsh? Did you see the videos he uploaded? (most of them have now been deleted).
He was laughing and boasting about it in his videos and asking people gave him a lot of likes, he would upload more aim-bot videos playing in duos and squad matches!
He is a youtube millionaire (at way too young age mind you), got cocky and thought he could get away with everything, lost complete control over reality and the consequences of his actions.
Typical rich spoiled lazy teenager and now he got caught and felt the banhammer and sobbing on youtube he is suddenly sorry.
I have ZERO sympathy with this guy. This permanent ban seems a very valuable life lesson for him and maybe even a blessing, so he can maybe start spending some more time in Real Life.
When you are crying and sobbing on youtube, because a videogame was your entire life. That's just scary.
The real reason why he is upset, is because he can no longer monetize his videos on Fortnite and will now have to find something else. So really. ZERO sympathy.
This comment section is fantastic
@Jeronan yeah maybe you are right. That was just my initial reaction. Might be the best thing for him.
@WiltonRoots - It should be the thumbnail for every Sw/Sh article. Maybe the cover on the game box too. They should work in a pic of the deeply satisfied manchild with an over sized Pikachu plush as well.
@HobbitGamer - The internet gods looked down upon us and smiled favorably with this one. It was going so great yesterday, I couldn’t resist sprinkling a little gasoline here and there.
@bimmy-lee These things always remind me of the ‘freak gasoline fight accident’ in Zoolander 😁
@Deathwalka Hmmm, well being 5 years older than you, I don't think millennial entitlement quiiiiite fits the demographic. And it was Starfox in the Xmas stocking mate. Peace!
HAHA, that is probably the funniest thing I've read in a long time. Kid got what he deserved. There's a whole generation out there now living life on the internet, and not logically thinking through consequences. He got what he deserved. Had he actually read the Terms & Conditions he probably would have made different choices. It's a life lesson for him and others.
@Silly_G I like you. I like you a LOT.
I've seen many students shed the same tears when they get caught cheating. It's actually quite sad to see as the rules and consequences are generally known.
It's a life lesson and I hope he is able to learn from it and move on. Growing up isn't always easy.
What did he expect? Aimbots = cheating, cheating --> banned
That face, tho...
