@datamonkey The PS5 Pro is basically the higher resolution mode with a locked 60fps and the advanced Ray Tracing features/ shadow maps. It's a no-brainer to play it there if you have a PS5 and do mostly TV gaming.
They have to be careful. With their core markets outside Japan struggling economically, it would not take a significant price increase to see sales decline sharply. There is a tipping point for mass market consumer electronics. Nintendo can't be blamed for the economy, but don't think for one second shareholders won't be blaming Nintendo if they get this price increase wrong.
For the UK, the price should not go above £429.99 (PS5 Digital 825GB) without a bundle and £479.99 (PS5 disc price) with a bundled game.
For the US and EU markets, the pricing should not go above PS5 pricing in the same manner. While they are not direct competitors, they are seen as like-for-like home consoles and having a seen-to-be lower powered console costing more would be bad optics.
The demo will decide if I get this on PS5 or Switch 2.... when it ever comes out. I would expect 30fps on Switch 2 - especially on handheld mode, where the power draw drops down a lot. I would rather a locked 30 than an uneven 40 or 60 fps mode.
Got the game yesterday and I am loving it so far. There is so much content already, and the gameplay is addictive. I have no interest in the online modes, but building teams/changing tactics and playing against the CPU teams is fun alongside the story, Battle Bay and Chronicle modes.
The one major disappointment - Switch 2 players will have to wait longer (and potentially months longer) to play the new Lego Batman game (must not have had dev kits at launch).
I feel like we won't see as many Switch 2 logos for 2-3 years when more devs have S2 dev kits.
Many players would like me would have got the Switch 2 version will now probably pick up the PS5 or PC version instead.
I finished the game with 25 hours on the clock, and overall, I would give it an 8/10.
Pros
Great visuals, performance and world design
Interesting use of upgrade mechanics
Nice linear zone sequences with decent puzzles to solve
Interesting and varied boss fights
Sound design was decent
Nice use of the haptics and controls for the Joy-Cons and Pro Controller
Cons
The dessert section is pretty bland and an excuse for the Motorbike
Collecting the green crystals can feel grindy if you don't keep on top of smashing them during the game
There were way too many prompts on where to go when they were not needed, with no way to turn them off
Story and characters were meh, more of an excuse for the gameplay
The main antagonist was not very present or interesting
The fun gameplay, game performance and environments are what really did the heavy lifting for me. I did not care enough about the characters to be disappointed by the story.
It's the most comfortable controller I have ever held, and the HD2 rumble is right up there with the DualSense for haptics. The only downside would be the triggers.
I bought Welcome Tour for £10 and I don't regret it at all. Great fun for hours. The game costs time, effort, and money, so I don't mind paying a small amount.
Really glad to see the early access for steam doing well. I'm about 12 hours in so far and I would give it a 9/10 which seems in line with metacritic. I can imagine the game will sell pretty well if not at the moster Hogwarts legacy levels. When HL comes to switch that will out sell every single game this year even COD.
I couldn't finish Arceus because of the bland open world and worried that this will be more of the same. I really liked Sword and Shield, with that mixture of detailed linear world design with open world hubs. My fave game of all time is Persona 5 so I guess it explains a lot of my tastes. The interest in linear was embeded into me by the way Rockstar designed games when I was a kid in the 90's.
Saw this and wondered if anyone thought about this: "I worked with Japanese companies. If they really offered her only $4K for the entire work, it is their way to "politely" fire her. Japanese companies don't directly tell you that they fired you. It is called Kuuki wo yomu or reading the air. Employees are expected to get the memo and leave. I don't think she realizes that they fired her and never had the intention to work with her."
Having lived and worked in Japan I have heard of this before
@Bayjax They make games for people to play and enjoy. They work long hours and cruch to make something that people love. Devs are usually some of the lowest paid staff within a development as we have seen so they want their hard work enjoyed. Having working in the field myself the reconition pays far better than the wage.
I don't know what the going rate should be for the unknown size of that role should be, so it is not wise for me to comment of if it is or is not enough. I can say bad mouthing the current VA is not a good look. The current VA felt that the pay was acceptable for them and the prevoius VA didn't. B3 is a game I have kept my eye on and will consider buying. I won't avoid the game just because the previous VA rejected an offer.
The other side of this is that PG could have hired out a 3rd party VA company like Atlus does and they set the rates. PG may have have little to no input in deciding the rate.
Also if you Boycott the game the people that ultimatley lose are the low paid game devs who work thousands of hours to please fans.
@XenoShaun it's Switch Tax! They do this a lot with UK pricing rather than following the Sony and Microsoft model of properly converting the $ price (minus tax and round down). $59.99 game should be £49.99 and is on Xbox and Playstation but Nintendo happy to slap on a extra £5 just because.
These are pretty much copy and paste statements for Atlus. They only really enforce it on corperations rather than low traffic streamers. So it's more a guidance for the likes of IGN or Nintendo Life. This includes review guidance.
Got to say the marketing for Digimon Survive has been terrible. There was huge hype for the game a couple of years ago now few seem to even know it exsists

Re: Metroid Prime 4's "Combined Sales" Have Surpassed One Million, Nintendo Confirms
I enjoyed 4 as my first Metroid game, but on those numbers, I am not expecting them to invest that level of time and money again for that ROI.
Re: Borderlands 4 Switch 2 Development Paused, According To Take-Two
With the Switch 2's CPU limitations, there are just some AAA games like this that aren't going to get to that acceptable base 30fps level.

@Vyacheslav333 Yes, they have multiple game studios for Level 5.

Re: Fantasy Life i: The Girl Who Steals Time Free DLC Is Still Coming This Month, So Don't Worry!
Great to see Level 5 offer yet another free DLC.
Re: Fans Uncover Unused Dialogue From Metroid Prime 4
Myles was fine, and I warmed to him in the end; it was those green crystals and that desert that I didn't like.
Re: Stardew Valley Creator To Share Update About Nintendo Switch 2 Edition "Very Soon"
His new game won't be out for another decade at this rate lol

Re: 35 Upcoming Nintendo Switch 1 & 2 Games To Look Forward To In 2026
FYI, Lego Batman will be launching after 29th May on Switch 2. The date is still tbc.
Re: The Game Awards GOTY For 2025 Is Clair Obscur: Expedition 33
I think E33 is the most overrated game in the last 30 years.
Re: Round Up: Everything Announced At The Game Awards 2025 - All Switch 1 & 2 Reveals
@AussieMcBucket Yeah, hopefully no more than 2-3 months for those who have to or are willing to wait.
Re: Star Wars: Fate Of The Old Republic Announced, But Will It Skip Switch 2?
If it's a few years away, that increases the chance of a Switch 2 version, and the dev team can request the S2 dev kits now and start work.
Re: CRKD Announces The 'Nitro Deck 2', Compatible With Switch And Switch 2
I enjoyed using the Switch version, and this could be a great addition.

Re: Video: LEGO Batman: Legacy Of The Dark Knight 'Official Heroes & Villains Trailer'
It is a shame the game doesn't look like it is going to make the May 29th launch date on Switch 2. Looks like I will get it on PS5 or Xbox instead.
Re: Surprise! Capcom Is Bringing Pragmata To Switch 2, Demo Out Today
A great addition for Switch 2.
Re: Video: Skyrim Still Isn't 60fps On Switch 2, But Here's How It Fares Against Switch 1
Honestly, MS/Bethesda should not have bothered. It sets the 60fps crowd off like nobody's business.
Re: Poll: What Review Score Would You Give Metroid Prime 4: Beyond?

Re: Assassin's Creed Shadows Update To Resolve Switch 2 Crashes And Stability Issues
I noticed that when I moved the game file from the SD card to internal storage, the crashes stopped for me.
Re: UK Charts: Metroid Prime 4 Debuts Behind Mario Kart World And EA Sports FC 26
Not bad at all for a niche franchise
Re: Reminder: Metroid Prime 4: Beyond Is Available With A Switch Game Voucher
I was thinking about it, but I do not have a 2nd game I want to buy on the list before the closure of the service, so I just got the Switch 2 edition.
Re: Metroid Prime 4: Beyond Difficulty Settings Revealed By Nintendo
Really glad to see options for different types of players.
Re: Metroid Prime 4: Beyond - Meet The Team
The more NPCs in this game, the better.
Re: Fire Emblem: Fortune's Weave Charges Onto Switch 2 In 2026
I hope this is more like Three Houses, with the social simulation aspects, and less like Engage, which felt a little bare-bones.
Re: Nintendo Direct Announced For Friday, 12th September 2025
A few things to expect
Metroid Prime release date (November)
Zelda: Age of Imprisonment (November)
YS X: Proud Nordics update

Metaphor ReFantazio port (2026)
AC Shadows port (2026)

Re: Review: Cyberpunk 2077: Ultimate Edition (Switch 2) - A Superb Port Of An Incredible RPG
Apart from some frame dips when driving at speed or in Dogtown, the game runs well and has everything you would expect from the PS and Xbox versions.

Re: Japanese Charts: Zelda: Tears Of The Kingdom Dominates, Surprising No One
Hogwarts Legacy is going going to do insane numbers when it hits the Switch. Good year for Nintendo.
Re: Zelda: TOTK Is The Sixth Game Ever To Get Perfect Scores From Edge And Famitsu
No Persona 5? Even RDR 2 is better than GTA 5.

10/10 completley expected, one of the best games of all time. My fave game of all time for sure.

Re: Atlus Announces Persona 5 Royal Card Game, Arriving October 2023
Looking forward to buying my Persona 5 10 year anniversary edition
Re: New Persona 5 Royal Trailer Highlights Slick Switch Gameplay
Played this digitally on PS4 and can't wait to play again on Switch. The only downside is the Switch tax (£54.99 vs £49.99 on Xbox and Playstation).
