Re: A New Fire Emblem Datamine Has Possibly Uncovered A Gap In The Main Timeline

DarkTron

No one seems to conisder the fact the FE1 remake was released in between the 2 titles, and considering that the only other remake (Echoes) is included in the list, it's likely that that could be the missing link.

Although I have no knowledge if someone has already datamined FE1R to determine that, based on the fact no one discussing this seemed to remember it even existed, I'd hedge no.

Re: Talking Point: Are You Excited To See Call Of Duty Return To Nintendo Platforms?

DarkTron

Leave it to Nintendo Life to jump on the bandwagon as usual (Bakugan WayForward, Switch Pro) without any concern for being accurate. Nothing has been finalised and this deal has been more intensly scrutinised than any before it. Microsoft don't currently own Activision, they're under no right to make promises, and these comments are simply for evidence gathering of support of the deal with the public.

Re: Poll: What Review Score Would You Give Sonic Frontiers?

DarkTron

The reason your review is so harshly treated is the fact your review makes the equivalence that "this is a bad port of a bad game", when the actual only conclusive part is "this is a bad port". Quite honestly, this game does nothing much different to differentiate itself in the open-world genre, but is instead an actual proof of a whole new formula for a game (which is one of the very points that NL brings up in the Legends Arceus review). Ye're harshly punishing a game for reasons ye've previously commended other titles (Zelda and Pokémon, like Sonic both previously linear games that convert to OW, got higher scores than Frontiers implies they should've. Maybe this opens up the channel to rereviews of games that were praised by NL for their OW concept more than the game).

Also the old adage that a Nintendo fan will take any opportunity to demerit Sonic is clearly applicable /s

Re: Feature: Every Pokémon Starter Evolution Trio, Ranked From Worst To Best

DarkTron

Don't know whether my lack of love for Gen 5 influences it (dont think its the worst, but definitely dont buy into the hype the story is anything other than extremely average), but the Gen 5 starters are easily among the worst designs in the entire franchise in my opinion. The first stages are fine, the 2nd stages are good but the 3rd stages are completely awful and it ruins the rest of them. Similarly, I don't rank Galar's starter, with the middle stages being the worst (by a long shot). Think Gen 7, Gen 3 and Gen 4 are the most consistently well-designed across the 3, with each of the latter 2 challenging the Kanyo starters for good design.

Re: Fall Guys Goes Even More Wibbly-Wobbly With New Doctor Who Cosmetics

DarkTron

@nessisonett what a very specific way to defend it, very clear you've had this argument before, not that any of it is correct. Jodie Whittaker has done the 2nd least amount of Modern Who (only beating Eccelston). Even with COVID, she's had the least amount of episodes and appearances, less than any of the previous 3 Doctors. As you mentioned, the only reason she lasted 5 years is because they didn't film for 1 year in the middle. If you're going entirely by "first reveal to regeneration", then Paul McGann certainly wins by that regard (didn't even regenerate until 2013), if you're going by years as the Doctor then Tom Baker has her beat, if you're going by Modern Who, David will have her beat before his next episode. It's a stupid metric to base it on.

Also, it's exactly that she was fired. RTD had every opportunity to keep her in the role. but she no longer fits the vision of what Doctor Who is going to be and was replaced. In literally any other industry, that is called "fired".

Re: Pokémon Scarlet And Violet Will Let You Craft TMs

DarkTron

Headline should be updated to "Scarlet/Violet restores single-use TMs again". Then again, reverting a good feature to a ***** one isn't exactly headline-worthy news.

Edit: Really censoring a swear word, NL? Absolutely nothing wrong with it, no need to be prudes.

Re: Random: The Pokémon Company Has No Issues With Nuzlocke Runs

DarkTron

  • While there's no doubt that Kit and Krysta's story is true

There is quite literally no evidence to back their claim in the first place, its a conversation that only they have claimed ever happened, it specifically is negative and hyperboled to the extreme, contradicts previous claims about the topic (them claiming that Nintendo compared Nuzlocke to ROM hacks contradicts the typical system of not even acknowledging ROM hacking), and has been discredited by prominent members of the community with a bigger focus on the topic (Joe Merrick for example), and by the Pokémon company themselves (who acknowledge it as a fanmade challenge that requires nothing more to add/affect on their part). A nothing story made by former disgruntled employees who haven't captured similar fame outside of the company, blown out of proportion by Nintendo sites with nothing better to write about.

Re: Binding Of Isaac Prequel 'The Legend Of Bum-Bo' Launches This Month

DarkTron

Anyone considering Bum-bo based on the BoI might want to consider the issues with the title.

Bum-bo is a fun title, but the development of the game was famously drawn out and the finished product was rushed. Releasing in a buggy state, the first month was spent fixing the game into an playable state, before ideas of a mini-DLC (inputting missing endings, adding new items) were mentioned for Christmas time.

It took over a year.

The final update for Bum-bo released early March 2021, with less content than was detailed for the mini DLC (less bosses, less new items, only a single new character) and the ending was updated to now link into Repentence. The only solace that could be taken was that it was offered for free (when the original talk was to release it for a small fee).

Bum-bo was rushed on PC, and these ports look somehow more rushed than that (rather than implementing actual controller support, just making it a mouse pointer and clicker). I'd recommend holding off for a while. This title needs an update to fix the obvious issues, and maybe the minor support it will inevitably receive from the Isaac community will make it so they actually fix their game on console.

Re: Rumour: Nintendo Direct To Take Place Later This Month

DarkTron

Your "source" literally just told you she wasn't told by anyone who would know the information ("It's not technically a leak because Nintendo didn't tell me, which is how I make that call."). You are literally pushing false news that inherently tells you the fact it's made up.

Re: Negative Fan Reaction To 'Return To Monkey Island' Made Its Creator 'Sad'

DarkTron

Can I ask what the point of this article is with regards to its relevance to Nintendo? Monkey Island has had 2 entries on Nintendo consoles in the last 25 years (one being a TellTale spin-off), with no new entries or rereleases being proposed since the WiiWare days. The latest title isn't even confirmed for anything outside PC at this point.

Re: Rumour: Switch Online Leak Reveals Unreleased NES Titles, Here's A Look

DarkTron

This is being exaggerated in its impact. The majority of the games listed as unreleased are third-party titles that either have been released by their owners in a collection (Pac-Man in Namco Museum, Castlevania in the Anniversary Collection, Mega Man in the Legacy Collection) and would probably not want them in a $2-a-month app with little residuals when they can sell them for more. With Tetris, Nintendo already offer Tetris 99 as a title, and would probably prefer attention on that.

Re: Pre-orders For Mario Strikers: Battle League Football Gets You A Free Cosy Scarf (UK)

DarkTron

@Olliemar28 that's a very poor explanation. You can pretty much use that for any item as an excuse, it doesn't really make it valid in context. The quality of the scarf is more akin to the ones sold by people outside stadiums for significantly less than £50, the ones you're claiming are "almost as expensive" are luxury items (either made with high-quality material, or brand-name products).
