Spike Chunsoft has announced that its upcoming murder mystery sequel, AI: The Somnium Files – nirvanA Initiative, has been delayed in Europe.
The game was originally scheduled to release on June 24th alongside the North American release, but in Europe and Oceania, Switch owners will need to wait until 8th July to get their hands on Mizuki and Ryuki's turn in the psyncing chair.
This delay does not affect the Japanese or North American releases, where the game is still due out on 23rd and 24th June.
Numskull Games is the publisher of the game in Europe and has cited that global shipping delays are the cause of this setback. Spike Chunsoft released this statement, which Gematsu has shared:
Due to unforeseen manufacturing delays and global shipping slowdowns, Spike Chunsoft, Inc. and Numskull Games unfortunately must delay the European and Oceania release of this title across all platforms (Nintendo Switch, PlayStation 4 and Xbox One). To maintain parity, the digital releases for these regions will be delayed to July 8 as well.
This is likely disappointing news for those of us in Europe and Oceana who are looking forward to this follow-up. This'll probably mean two weeks of internet silence and muting, or perhaps some eager detectives will want to rejoin ABIS early and import a copy (or use the NA eShop).

I’m glad I am in North America.
RIP to those in Europe and Oceania
As an Irish user, it doesn't really matter to me, as my country will almost certainly refuse classification for it, like the original. I'll be going on the US eShop for it when I do.
@moodycat Yeah... The same old problems that still doesn't changed for some unknown(and stupid?) reasons. Is it really hard for Japanese developers to release their game in NA and PAL regions at the same day?!
@DarkTron Really???
Why did this happen?
Does seem pretty dumb to also delay the digital version in that case.
Goddammit. I wish they didn't delay the digital versions as well
Bummer, especially that they're delaying the digital version too for "parity".
@DarkTron, I bought the original physical from Amazon UK with no issues. I'm in Ireland too.
Have absolutely no idea why it's not allowed here, Thought it was a similar issue that Dying Light had "Germany". Got that too from Amazon Uk.
Both are PAL version (Is PAL/NTSC/SECAM even a thing anymore? Honestly?)
cant wait!!!!! day one for me!!!
I'm in NA so it doesn't affect me, but I'm going digital with this game too, I'd be a little upset if the digital version got delayed because of shipping issues with the physical version.
Lol Europe, feels bad kek
Ugh, it's one game that I was hoping to get to play soon after release and have it done by the time Xenoblade came out but my copy won't arrive till late July now if I keep my European import. Importing from the US would cost me $30+ more though so that'd be a lot to pay to play it a bit earlier.
@Lusephur Not with the Switch because it's region free. I'm in America and a large portion of games I own are imported from Asia.
