The latest trailer for Pokémon Scarlet and Violet is now available to watch on YouTube. Aside from providing us with a whole lot more information on the games' newly introduced Terastallize battle ability, we also got a peak at a new mechanic which will let you craft TMs.
That's right, no longer left to find these powerful moves just sitting on the ground throughout the region, Pokémon Scarlet and Violet is introducing TM Machines to the Pokémon Centers throughout the Paldea region. Check out the timestamped video above which will drop you in at the relevant point in the trailer.
These machines will let you craft any number of TMs using materials that were dropped after catching wild Pokémon. On top of the materials, crafting TMs will also require you to collect League Points (LP) by advancing in the game's story or trading items that you find along the way.
Crafting TMs means that the games will provide us with the ultimate control over our team's moveset. One Pokémon not possessing the right number of Flying Type moves for your liking? The TM Machine can change that.

Headline should be updated to "Scarlet/Violet restores single-use TMs again". Then again, reverting a good feature to a ***** one isn't exactly headline-worthy news.

Sounds interesting. Hopefully you'll be able to craft Poke Balls too because I really liked that in Legends Arceus.
I really like what I'm seeing with Scarlet and Violet so far. Change in this case is definitely a good thing.

Maybe all moves in the game…. That would be something….
TMs seem to be single use, rather than having TMs and TRs like in Sword/Shield.
But if they're part of a crafting system, that would really go a long way to balancing the gameplay around participation and seeking out resources. This is a good move, honestly.
Oh good. Creating a competitive team in pokemon didn't have enough tedious steps to it yet.
I like the little photos for each TM. Certainly more visually interesting than the CDs we've had for six generations. I also like that we can just craft them at any time rather than waiting for specific ones to appear in the store (I know I'm likening Gen 8's TRs to Gen 9's TMs here, but stay with me). Maybe we obtain recipes throughout our journey, or more recipes unlock as we progress further? Maybe certain materials are only available from higher level targets, rewarding you for venturing out into dangerous areas? There's some potential here.
Side note: My friend hates that this is called the TM Machine, while I love it for the same reason. It's a machine that makes technical machines, hence Technical Machine Machine.
I really hate how every single game now feels the need to tack on a needless crafting mechanic entirely to pad the runtime.
Literally every new detail they announce for this game makes me more excited for this game. I genuinley don't think I've been THIS excited for a new pokemon gen since Gen 2 came out as the first sequels
I absolutely love this. Being able to go out of your way and explore in order to get a really strong TM early sounds like it'll be really fun. Single-use does make me wary (they were grand in SwSh but BDSP made me a terrible hoarder) but I'm hoping the materials will be plentiful enough for it to not matter.
Also this confirms Snom is in the game so this is automatically a 10/10 reveal.
Seems like a really unnecessary extra step just to pad some extra play time.
i am personally happy about them adding more things to do. At least it's not the same old same old. Plus I prefer them being single use. It puts strategy into the game.
Now THIS is something that should stay in future games, crafting from PLA back in any form is always welcome for me!
Great idea with that TM Machine. Redundantly named though, but I guess they meant to do that.

Ewwwwww. I def prefer the fun of finding tms. This just adds more meta to the games than I care for. Also I do not like the photos for them. Spoils what the moves will look like in battle. That's no fun.
