@rjejr You are not alone... but... To me, this and Odyssey's co-op feel like a case of "Creating a great full co-op game that also works well as single-player is tough, so let's just involve the second player in the game somewhat, rather than having them simply watch someone else play."
II'd love some suggestions for Pinball games to play in TATE mode, because let’s be honest, trying to play that way on the Switch 1, docked or handheld, never felt natural.
Even if it not become a reality, when someone states "Nintendo Predicted To Become Primary Partner For Third-Party Game Publishers" and it is not a joke, it signifies we are far beyond the "no-third-party" scenario of the near past.
If (or when?) AI reaches the core of games and movies, the amount of releases for these entertainment media may become overwhelming, potentially diverting people from enjoying them as they are currently.
I also wanted to pay less for new games, but the gaming market is a capitalist operation, like it or not. I'd love to see a government attempt at the gaming business, but that's not the case right now. Day-one games are more on the premium side of gaming. You can still wait for a discount (even if it's the standard 30% for Nintendo games), so complaining so much about pricing is actually complaining about your own gaming habits, which you can adjust as you like.
@LastFootnote In the end I think they will take the opportunity to use the tariffs’ mess - and also their pricing mess - and “gift” us by not pricing future games by more than $70-$80.
I’d bet we will not see another $80 in the near future.
I mean… I’m fine with the $70 - $80 price, I can afford it… but if there isn’t a lot of people like me, the console will sell less, which mean less games released That’s why I’m worried for the online complains about the prices…
PS5 and Xbox players already deal with this: physical games that are mostly downloads, discs that just unlock digital content, and massive updates to make games playable. Nintendo’s Game-Key Cards are just joining the same disappointing trend.
Honestly, I don't think Nintendo needed to show more than they did. This console is going to sell out constantly for at least the first year, no matter what. The demand is already there, they don't need to burn through their biggest announcements just to convince an audience that's already planning to buy.
From a business perspective, it makes more sense to space out those bigger reveals to maintain hype and momentum over time. At the end of the day, Nintendo is a company, and their ultimate goal is profit, just like any other business. This Direct was about setting the stage. The rest will come when it makes sense commercially.
Would Windows games (and Xbox Portable titles) transition smoothly between screen resolutions and frame rates like Switch games do? If not, that’s a dealbreaker for me.
@Bolt_Strike We've had over 100 games published by Nintendo during the Switch's lifespan. While there were indeed a few months without a release, they often made up for it by launching two games in the same month shortly after. So, it's not substantially incorrect to say there was a monthly cadence of releases.
And for this month? We're at the end of the console's life cycle. It's completely normal at this stage.
@Dazman If I ever get famous enough for Nintendo to read this article, I'll make sure to remind them that we still need a remaster of Battalion Wars 1 + 2!
I opened the article thinking it was exactly the kind of thing I wanted to read... and then I saw my name mentioned. Thank you, great points discussed here!
As a kid, I spent countless hours playing Arkanoid, my favorite game back then. Now, almost 40 years later, seeing a new Breakout announced really hits me with nostalgia. Let's see what comes here.

OMFG! Yet to watch the video, lol, but I hope it’s not a multiplayer focused game! I LOVE Splatoon, but hate my addiction to play it online 😜

Re: Talking Point: Are You Ghosting Switch 1 To Save Yourself For Switch 2?
Keep enjoying Animal Crossing, because there's no upgrade in sight, and the next version is probably so far off, we'll all be fossils by then.

Never experienced any souls-like game, and I only plan to game on Switch 1/2.

Advance Wars / Switch 2 Wars.
Excite Bike / Truck / Bots.
Re: Catch-Up Crew: Pikmin - "A Moment Of Sheer Panic That I Can’t Quite Describe"
Nintendo could add a fun way to 'unlose' dead Pikmin by rewinding and replaying the key moments after finishing the day.

It was just me who tought tomorrow would be a “mere” Tree House?! And only now realised it’s a sweet DIRECT?
Re: Talking Point: Does Switch 2 Have Nintendo's Best Launch Line-Up Ever?
As we are taking Switch 2 in consideration, we are talking about antecipation, rather than real quality games (no one reviewed Switch 2 releases yet).
So:
Twilight Princess w/ motion controls
Wii Sports
Red Steel
Excite Truck
People just NEEDED to play these ASAP.
Everyone's hype was sky high.
