Overwatch may be getting a bit long in the tooth but it's a game that continues to draw a big audience thanks to its enjoyable online play and cast of colourful characters.
The topic of a Switch port has been floated several times before, but it now seems we have confirmation that it's coming from a fairly unlikely source.
PowerA - maker of video game accessories, including Switch controllers - is producing an officially-licenced Overwatch carry case for Nintendo's console. The case was briefly listed on Amazon before being taken down, but the internet sees EVERYTHING.
Now, why would a company make a Switch carry case for a game that isn't currently available on the Switch?
Exactly.
Please place your bets on when you expect Overwatch to be announced for Switch.

Don't do this. Don't give me hope.
@RedderRugfish Oh man this made me lol louder than I intended.
This is either a massive coincidence or a pretty funny leak.
I would absolutely get back into this game on Switch. Still hoping Blizzard brings Hearthstone to Switch too.
@RedderRugfish Don't even joke about that.
That would be the worst way to have your thunder stolen for your game announcement...a case.
I'd be more enthusiastic if I weren't already hooked on Paladins...
Next direct will see the announcement I'm betting.
Hmm. So When's Blizzcon again?
Jeff has gone on record to say big news afoot for Overwatch.
No need for me to buy any other console now.
I assume this will be one of those games announced in a direct, and ready to download right after.
They probably have official license to make Switch cases and Overwatch merchandise and they put the two together into one product without thinking about it
I really like that case, nice colour scheme
september direct incoming...
Oh, and they took it down already, that only makes it seem more likely
I really do still love Overwatch, with 2-2-2 the game's finally destroyed GOATS and annoying teammates through drastic but effective measures. I'm a bit salty that Brig got nerfed but she was only a secondary pick for me anyway.
I’m guessing this is gonna be announced during the September Direct. I would buy Overwatch on the Switch. Played it a few times with my brother, and I had fun. So i’ll pick it up if it’s true, which it probably is.
DEAR LORD, PLEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEASE!!!!
I am expecting Overwatch for Switch to be announced during the Q4 Nintendo Direct.
Not really surprised, since some time ago Blizzard said they would love to have the game on Switch.
@nessisonett, you can't forget the Rein buff. Those symmetra turrets were so annoying.
@RedderRugfish not before Overwatch Kart, though!
In before "iS tHiS a DiReCt HinT?????"
@nessisonett Goats being destroyed is a good thing but 2-2-2 isn't a good either. It'll stifle the meta the same way that League of Legends was for a while.
Incoming Direct with Overwatch and Mario Sunshine HD headlining 😎
Makes sense as there's not much positive to say about NSO currently with the 1 year anniversary in a few weeks.
Team fortress 3 on switch? Heck yes!
Every time a out of nowhere title gets announced for Switch ( see Witcher 3, Ori, etc) I think of that April Fools Direct.
I still want Portal and Wayne Knights Erotic Pinball.....
Let's come down from fantasy land for a second. This could have easily been a fake gag that got quickly taken down once they realized news sites were reporting on it. Remember those supposed Switch trade-ins that everyone believes Nintendo was doing?
Not falling for it, but if proven wrong, I'll accept that.
We'll see where this go's
@RedderRugfish - Unlikely; that would require creating a single-player component for Overwatch, something Blizzard doesn't seem interested in doing atm.
@RedderRugfish This actually sounds kinda fun.
I mean, I've played Overwatch to death on PC, so I'm unlikely to double dip, but a new game inspired by Overwatch sounds fun, and a Dynasty Warriors type game wouldn't be the worst fit for OW characters.
It's going to be a turn based Overwatch game, made for the RPG loving Nintendo community.
I HAVE BEEN HOPING FOR THIS FOR YEARS!!!!!! YAAASSSSSSSS!!! NOBODY WILL UNDERSTAND HOW HYPED I AM
@Jive_Talking Blizzcon is in early November.
If I am able to transfer my stats and skins over from the PS4 version then I will pick it up. If I can't I will pass on it.
It’s an official Power-A case officially sold by Amazon, and subsequently removed once they realized the mistake.
I’d say it’s pretty much confirmed, especially since the game isn’t exactly in the same limelight it was in the past few years.
I don't know when it will, or if it will, but I certainly hope it will. I would love to play Overwatch while on the go, and play as D.Va and Mei as my mains.
Is OW still popular enough in 2019 to warrent a switch port?
If this is true..... OMG
Overwatch is coming to the Switch. This pretty much confirms it.
Meanwhile, Twitter users now think Trader's coming to Smash...
When the Switch was announced I wanted 3 games ported; Dragon's Dogma, Diablo 3, and Overwatch. Just one more to go, come on Blizzard.....
@RedderRugfish Too soon, too soon...
I want it so so badly!! Gosh, imagine the potential for Nintendo themed skins?! Playing Overwatch on the go? GYRO?! The announcement can't come soon enough! At a September Direct or Blizzcon, definitely!!
Yes!!! I still love overwatch. Hope we can import our progress from other platforms.
Even though there is no official Overwatch announcement for the Switch, I would be grateful if it really happened, it is the only game in this "trend" of the MMOs that I like.
Damn, that's some good punnery.
Portability may give people a reason to come back to it, even though OW no longer seems to be "in fashion".
Overwatch can run (barely) on my 2012 non-gaming pc with integrated graphics. It can definitely run on Switch.
i want tracer in smash. i feel like there's like .000001 chance tho but still these kind of articles give me hope :,)
Sweeeeeeeeeeeeeet, never played it, always wanted to. Although i do have a PS4 so literally no reason why i haven't.
A carry case don’t mean poo
I'm looking forward to it. wouldn't mind having hearthstone either
I know next to nothing about Overwatch, except what I've seen from the occasional out of context tweet. It was most popular when I lived overseas and was busy with college. I know that people hate the turret character that sounds like Engineer from TF2, I know the healer character is called Mercy, and I know there's this character, I forget her name but she looks like Nana from Ice Climbers, and it seems like the internet has very emotion-laden opinions about her thighs. I've heard a few complaints about people getting banned when people reported them for winning, but I don't know if that really was just for using winning strategies or if they were also being jerks.
But like, if I judged Splatoon based on its social media, I'd think it's this game where everyone is unhealthily obsessed with a teenage squid girl's forehead, and I know because I've played that game that you only spend about 2 percent of your gameplay time with the Squid Sisters. I guess what I'm saying is that I'd be willing to give Overwatch a chance if the Switch port was reviewed well since Switch is a great system for quick online multiplayer matches (in theory when it works and has basic features).
Overwatch is a tough game for me. I love the characters and the lore. But I'm kind of burned out on shooters and especially multi-player ones. Every time I watch game play footage from OW it just looks really boring.
I enjoyed Apex Legends at the beginning of the year but stopped after Season 1 started and have never gone back to it.
Even Splatoon 2 I didn't play that much. I've bought it at launch and am now at level 18 At least it had a great single player campaign (and the Octo expansion is even better).
@Paddle1 Overwatch ran on the XBOX 360. The Switch can perfectly handle it. It’s not even more graphics heavy than Splatoon 1
Overwatch is a perfectly optimized game for old PC systems. Now Switch pretty much is like an 11 year old PC system. Overwatch would need some extra optimizing to be able to run well on that but its doable
@sanderev xbox one/PS4 only...never on 360
Now Overwatch is a quality game made from legendary Blizzard. Fortnite and PUG are trending cause they are freemium but Overwatch got some extra charm. Ofc first person shooters arent for everyone. I prefer RPG's myself.
So, Switch is the next new character in Overwatch? Wha? I'm confused.
@Tasuki Expect to not be able to transfer profile data across platforms. Blizzard didn't have it for PS4 to PC. It's an even bigger stretch that they'd make the extra effort to be able to move from PS4 to Switch. It's not a matter of technical limitation (we're talking about Blizzard here) as it is probably an upper management decision to keep it as such.
@RedderRugfish Man, that Persona 5 announcement still hurts, even now
I'll just keep playing Paladins. Glad the Blizz-kids are getting the port tho
2019 BlizzCon will begin at 5:30 pm on Friday, 1 November
and ends at 06:00 am on Sunday, 3 November. All times are in Central European Time. Sometime between those dates/times id say we'll know for sure.
I did stumble across a post on Reddit from a guy who works in a French game store that listed the general releases for September to November and Overwatch was on the list for Switch in October I think (now can't find the post so it may have been taken down).
@akennelley1 Paladins is terrible though.
I bought the Champion's Pack and still - the game is just bad.
