In an alternate universe – namely, the Animal Crossing universe – 2020 has been a pretty spectacular, heartwarming year full of new discoveries, friendships, and fun. Plenty of us have jumped into the game to escape reality this year, and this latest trailer from Nintendo reminds us of exactly that.
It's only a short clip, but Isabelle, Tom Nook and friends can all be seen reminiscing over this first year of Animal Crossing: New Horizons. In a sweet touch, Tom and Celeste also wish us a happy festive season – a message we could all do with right now.
We hope Animal Crossing has been a good distraction for you this year and that you've made lots of happy memories with the game. If you have any you want to share, feel free to chat away in the comments below.
Here's to another year of New Horizons!

It's all very strange, though.
Redd sitting right next to Tom Nook, let alone being there?
Celeste out in the daytime?
K.K. Slider still holding his guitar at the table?
Gulliver showing up on purpose?
@RupeeClock I was gonna say Redd sitting next to Nook was a large red flag, it also feels like it ends really abruptly for some reason.
@RupeeClock It takes place in an alternate universe.
@RupeeClock I found it stranger when, earlier in the year, Isabelle said a shady character who was up to no good had been spotted o a boat (Redd) and a couple months later they were hosting the fireworks night together in the plaza!
I know they block you from time travelling to events now, but was that a preview of a New Years event we see briefly?
Bah Humbug!
Kidding
@RupeeClock Maybe ads for Nook Inc. pay really well, so they made an exception.
Besides, they can't have Bob or some other villager saying "Wow, I love how our island representative only visits us for DIY recipes and then immediately leaves. Memories.... ✨"
@Kimyonaakuma Hahaha. It's funny because it's true.........
@ChessboardMan Yes. It was briefly shown during the December update video too.
@ChessboardMan
You can celebrate New Year Eve by Time Travel on ACNH.
What is a festive season? Do they mean CHRISTMAS time? 🎄🧐
@Kiyata
They call it toy day in Animal Crossing, always have done, and the event itself is held on December 24th instead of the 25th.
And any winter holiday season items are referred to as "Festive".
I think that's just fair for anyone playing the game that doesn't celebrate Christmas, whilst those that do can still enjoy it for what it is.
@Kiyata Festive Season is a small event where your Cedar trees have Chirstmas ornaments to craft seasonal itens with, for dezembre 15th to january 6th.
@Kiyata Considering all the cardboard boxes taking up space in my inbox in Resident Services I'm pretty sure by "festive season" they mean Boxing Day. 🤣
@Kiyata not everyone celebrates Christmas
ACNL is a great game, i love it. Shame that the game feels so incomplette once you invest a lot of time in it. I wish they'd pick up on peoples whishes ala #ImagineAnimalCrossing
@fluffiestp1llow not everyone celebrates hannuka, but they still call it hannukah
@Megaz23 but the proper wait to say it would be happy holidays? Its more polite. They say "festive season" to include everyone
