Originally released in Japan as Seiken Densetsu 3 back in 1995, Trials of Mana is being treated to a full, high-definition remake on Nintendo Switch next year. You might be familiar with the original title thanks to the Collection of Mana bundle which launched on the console earlier this year.
The remake is said to bring "the beloved story and characters to a new, modern era of players with real-time combat, beautiful 3D graphics and updated gameplay". It tells the story of six heroes as they battle against the forces of evil that threaten a world where Mana has been weakened, with players needing to form a party of three members of their choice to craft their very own story.
The game doesn't launch until 24th April 2020, so you've got some time to think about it, but those who purchase the game by 21st May 2020 will receive a Rabite Adornment DLC, allowing players to gain more EXP after battles up to level 10.
The news comes from yesterday's Nintendo Direct. Have you recovered from the excitement yet?

This will ruin everything that was great about seiken densetsu 3.
Remaster? Either this is a remake, or SNES graphics are way better than I remember
April jeez. Enough time. Just give me a Xenoblade Chronicles release date
Why does the article title make it sound like this is the first we've heard about this? Didn't they announce this the same time they released the collection with the original version on it? When was that? E3? I mean there is a lot of new details, but we already knew it was coming.
Edit: oh, they changed the title as I was posting this.
This looks SO much better than the remakes of the previous two games.
Also surprised by the amount of cleavage on display in that trailer. I wonder how that got past Squeenix's infamous Ethics Department?
This makes me wonder if i should hold off on playing the original. Which is included in the Collection of Mana game i'm getting for Christmas.
I can't wait for this one. Looks better than the previous remake. This is more charming and makes me want to get the game a.s.a.p.
Looks great, this is how you bring back a game. Looks like putting in tons of work, and they still not charging full price. Take note Nintendo.
What about Adventure of Mana and Secret of Mana? Both got 3D remakes, I want them all on my switch!
This game has some blown up plot now, I’ll tell ya!

@Tharsman I want Legend of Mana from PSX as well, but no need for remake. A good remaster would be fine too. That game is great
Hopefully it’s better than that awful Remake of Secret on the PS4
I love the vibe of this whole remake. Including the kinda bad voice acting. I don’t know why, but that’s working for me.
Might grab if the whole delayed hit detection thing is gone. Ruined the games for me, felt like playing an early alpha
@Ralizah their head of department meant to sort this out but his mammary isn't what it was. It's going to cause problems that could have been avoided - they really should keep abreast of things like this.
Yo honestly, I'm interested, I just don't like the fan service. Tired of Japan pumping out scantly clad prepubescent looking girls with chests the size of gallons of water.
This is looking good, though one I'll probably pick up on PS4.
The game looks beautiful... but that voice acting though...
@ChessboardMan right there with you. Not the only time this has been a thing lately, sadly. This has been news for some time. They even had a tree house segment where they played and talked to the developers during E3. AND an E3 trailer for it. Slow news days?
I'll likely pick this up sometime after its release. I feel like I should play through the original game first...and I don't know when that will happen yet. XD
So hyped about this game, the switch is getting alot of gems! Love it.
@Tharsman I been saying this too, but neither one was well recieved sadly. I liked them, questionable art decisions aside, they stuck th the original visions of both gmes and played well.
I hope that the switch gets the first two remakes eventually (I know they weren't that great but for completion's sake.)
This looks brilliant so far, I only hope the final product lives up to these great first impressions.
Since I never played ToM in its original format, and always wanted to, that is how I choose to play it. The 3D remake looks amazing, but maybe I'll play it once I've run the SNES one at least once.
Definitely interested in this, but probably going to be 40 bucks and i'll wait for a price drop to 20. I still need to continue playing this on my collection of mana .
One of my most anticipated games right now.
@jobvd shut up. Just shut up. Any Mana is good Mana. The fact we haven't been able to play it in English until just recently and now we've got a modern version of it coming is something people could only dream of 5 years ago.
@Baker1000 Any mana is good mana? LOL. The series as a whole is mediocre at best with the obvious exceptions. Seiken densetsu 3 has been playable in english for well over a decade.
@jobvd it was playable in English with a fan translation. First official translated release was this year mate, that's what I meant. Just your personal opinion though. I see nothing wrong with giving an old classic a modern remake. I bet you're one of these that hates on Sword of Mana because "it ruined the original"
@Baker1000 Sword of mana was simply mediocre. Probably the worst brownie Brown game ever.
