Round Up: Everything Announced In The February 2023 Nintendo Direct - Every Game Reveal And Trailer

I’m still in shock about Ghost Trick and Prime Remastered. This is probably the best Direct I’ve ever seen.

I'm fried from all the announcements! That Direct was cooking!

Not as great compare to last year's 2022 February direct but a fantastic start of the year. It seems there are less of Square Enix this time and more of Level-5 which is definitely not a bad thing.

After a couple hours of Prime Remastered my jaw is still on the floor. It's stunning, I had NO idea it would be this good- instant classic (again) and a high watermark Switch game. Floored.

Yess this was the best direct ever. Shock with Metroid prime remastered. It means hope for Metroid prime 4. No Zelda was very good only graphics problems. Now I love Tears of the kingdom more. It is going to be like Breath of the wild maybe? That is Ganondorf the dead from Ganondorf.

And the Etrian Odyssey was announced. I'm looking forward to learning more about that one.

I was happy over all with the direct some heavy hitters imo I hope that switch Zelda OLED is true I will buy day one....huge Zelda fan. Metroid prime Im waiting for the physical and there were a few other games I want my wallet is crying lol.

What a great direct! Metroid Prime, Tears of the Kingdom and Pikmin 4 all look great. Advance Wars finally! And Fantasy Life!!! Dreams can come true...

Was there the Japanese exclusive games from Nintendo Direct Japan ?

Playing Metroid Prime on the Switch OLED is an absolute treat.

Sadly, Advance Wars comes out 21 April, not March.

I was not all that excited overall; but Ghost Trick was definitely a pleasant shock. Baten Kaitos was unexpected, but I’m NOT playing either of those again. The thing I’m probably most excited for is the return of Zelda Oracle of Ages and Seasons coming to GB NSO, which of course didn’t come with the GB/A NSO Release.
I’m also surprised they didn’t nudge a reminder that Hogwarts Legacy is coming out in July.

Y'all missed Etrian Odysssey. Also Katamari, but that one might have been in the sizzle reel.

Guess we here at Nintendolife are just gonna ignore Etrian Odyssey remasters then, lol. That was the big one for me especially for 3 that I'd say is the best game in the series yet was the only one that had never gotten an enhanced 3DS port or anything. Looking at some of the japanese trailers it looks like the auto mapping is finally filling all of the map, walls and all which is all I ever asked, the map making always just slowed the pacing down imho. The trilogy is also coming to Steam which'll be the version I'm getting.

I’m sorry, but is everyone ignoring Deca Police and Raincode? Those two look awesome and I love me some detective games!

Way too many games I'm interested in. I'll pick up Metroid Prime Remastered physically in two weeks, and I already have Advance Wars 1+2 Reboot Camp and The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom preordered.

I'm also interested in Kirby, Pikmin, Ghost Trick, Baten Kaitos, Sea of Stars, Professor Layton, Disney Illusion Island, and Katamari down the line.

Third-parties carried this direct hard. Look at Nintendo's stuff. All DLC or games revealed previously. Prime remaster is new, but they definitely feel asleep at the wheel.

Some amazing stuff in here, although I was so sure Silksong was going to feature that when the TotK trailer came up at the end I got briefly frustrated 😖

I can't even... How did Nintendo manage to drop Metroid Prime Remastered like that! Amazing Direct 2023 is going to be another great year for Switch. GB and GBA games! What a time to be alive

I'm not super blown away by what we've seen from Zelda so far...

Here in Japan, they announced a game called Nastumon (Summer Story, I believe) (なつもん！ ２０世紀の夏休み) from Spike Chunsoft that looked like good relaxing fun. Was that not announced for out there?

This direct was an insult and had ‘corporate greed’ written all over it.

So 16 new games, 13 remasters/dlc and Gameboy/GB Advanced games.
Disappointing to me, especially the way they are obviously bringing out the Metroid Primes separately to squeeze as much money out of it instead of making a collection.

@mr_somewhere You can say that loud and clear. I'm a huge Zelda fan and I've never been less excited about a 'new' game. I'm sure it will be - fine - but to follow up on BotW I wanted to be impressed by something truly unique. This still feels like more of the same.

God, I don't want to be negative all the time but I can't stand big companies trying to make us pay more and more for things that take less and less effort. For 70€ this should have been a new concept from the ground up.

DLC, nothing for me

New releases, Zelda, Sea of Stars, Octopath and that Natsu-Mon, been playing Attack of the Friday Monsters, so that's caught my eye, doubtful of a Western release.

@PinderSchloss idk why you think that it should have been a new concept from the ground up because it was clear from the very first trailer that it was going to be direct sequel to botw set in the same world. We don't know what other surprises are in store but I highly doubt that Nintendo will drop the ball on this one. I also don't understand how the direct was insulting but I get the feeling I don't want to follow you down that rabbit hole

@PinderSchloss What's so greedy about giving us not one but two Baten Kaitos and Advance Wars in one direct or 3 Zelda games or a Metroid Prime Remastered which you could play right now? Also do you know what the best part of this direct was? It's related to the greed part. There are literally no cloud games announced unlike last year, after Stadia went under I'm glad they started seeing the picture and not announce any cloud games anymore and I hope it stays that way.

Amazing Direct. Metroid Prime Remaster stole the show for me (finally!). I'm a couple hours in and it looks and plays great. TotK is looking great too. Thanks Nintendo. I'm a very happy customer

Something else mentioned on the JP direct, was that Rune Factory 3 Special was getting a release date on March 2nd. Not sure if that is global or JP only but worth mentioning. They also showed some new modes like a "Newlywed mode" that RF4S also had.

Gotta give it to them. Best direct ever! My personal favorite(s): Decapolice! - I just wanna play it. And also the Layton teaser. Advance Wars: FINALLY! Never played Baten Kaitos, definitely gonna buy that one. and many more that I will purchase down the line. NGL, way too much stuff atm, lol

Very excited about what has been announced, more than in quite a while. Feel this is Nintendo going big before a new hardware announcement perhaps ater in the year.

I thought I would be excited seeing more of Zelda, but the more is see the more i think it's just going to be a copy of breath of the wild with more features. I hoped they would show temples and more story (just to show there is a worthy Zelda story this time). Metroid was a nice surprise, but it seems the switch enters it's final year.

I wasn't disappointed, but I had low expectations. Most of the stuff I am excited to play, we already knew about (Zelda, Advance Wars, Octopath, Pikmin, etc.). Baten Kaitos was a nice surprise, and Deca Police looks promising, but I wasn't interested in many of the other newly revealed games. I love Metroid Prime, but I'm not going to pay $40 for each game.

@Bunkerneath I wouldn't call it "money grabbing" since the Trilogy on Wii while was a great value, probably the best Nintendo has ever given next to OG Mario All Stars, they at the end were just ports of the first 2 games with very few changes and 3 re packed. This actually has significantly more work put into it than those and was hard to expect the same price as just a port like on the Wii.

Disappointing how much of an rpg and tactics machine the Switch has become for years now. I’m looking forward to Zelda at least

Lots of Level 5 games .... I´m really surprised. We haven´t seen many news form Level 5 lately but definetely they have been working a lot

We've got Kirby, Metroid and Zelda games all releasing this year, the only thing missing is a Mario game.

Nintendo Directs are kinda pointless now
40 minutes of ports like, the 6 new games that were announced weren't even that big (except the Layton teaser)

I really was not impressed. There was allot of stuff but mostly remasters, ports and DLC. I know people will be excited about Metroid. We all knew Zelda would be there but I thought it might get its own direct which it probably still will. Most new stuff looks like moldy oldies like we are back at the 8 bit days or just some goofy stuff. Other than Zelda I see no reason to pick up my switch. I will probably wait on Zelda at that price. I was hoping for maybe some info in a offshoot to Animal crossing announcement. I really have been playing my Switch less and less. I am thinking there is allot of actual new content is being held back because of a new platform. I think Zelda is released because they can double dip, they will release a new console with a updated/remastered version of Zelda. They know people will buy it again.

Someone must have spied on my dreams, and decided "I'll make this manchild happy today".

From GB(C/A) including the Zelda games (probably both my favourite Zelda games, and LA was my first game ever) AND the obscure Alone in the Dark I would have NEVER expected but was one of my favourite GBC games (with Cannon Fodder, Bomberman Quest, and Perfect Dark... HINT, dream spy) AND Golden Sun that wasn't even included in the 3ds ambassador programme... Sadly, for obvious reasons, no Advance Wars included.

To Etrian Odyssey remakes proving it is NOT dead with the end of the 3ds (I'll buy 3 because I already have remakes of 1 and 2), Ghost Trick, a new Fantasy Life, something that looks like a mix of Rhythm Thief and Persona, Metroid Prime remade, new Pikmin, Advance Wars finally getting news (which was visually cool, the animation... Let's hope they add cut scenes like that, like an animated movie with the first two games as gameplay...), Layton, Katamari, Octopath 2 demo, Baten Kaitos 1 AND 2 (that I needed to import and run with a freeloader disc)...

So much great stuff, even the new Zelda getting released on my birthday wasn't that exciting anymore, one of my favourite GC games wasn't even very exciting (ToS), and new Bayonetta was old news already. Sure, most things that excited me are remakes, and probably not that interesting to those who didn't grow up with these games. Like how I wasn't that excited about Goldeneye or Banjo because I never had an N64 in the day. Already playing Alone in the Dark and Link's Awakening DX.

What I did NOT like, was the multiple dlc passes for Nintendo games, makes me want to buy their games less actually, because now they're not full games at premium prices, they are partial games at premium prices, full games (digitally) a prices I would never pay for a single game again.

I love that I'm playing the original Warioware yet again. What a perfect game.

I have all the Etrians on DS, and I have Prime trilogy on Wii U, and I also have them all emulated on series x for good measure, but I might get them anyway. Sea of Stars looks really good, the demo isn’t bad from what I’ve played, I’m hopeful it’ll turn out alright. I like Layton too but I assume that is ultra early since all we got is a title.

I personally predict the Switch successor will be revealed/announced late june/early july for a late november launch with a next gen version of Zelda and next gen 3D Mario game among the launch titles.

Metroid Prime sold as a new game? It should have been part of a remastered collection but yeah, we'll get the three games for $€120.

Etrian Odyssey Origins Collection is interesting, they remade I and II for 3DS and released IV, V, Nexus and Etrian Mystery Dungeon for 3DS (the sequel in Japan only), so the main platform for these games, 3DS, awkwardly missed III. Now they release I, II and III for Switch and Windows.

Pikmin 4? Finally! It took ages but I hope is not as easy and casual as 3. I think that 1 and 2 are better.

This direct was overall fire but so many remasters. And not a MP collection was disappointing because that means they will milk 1, 2 & 3 sadly (since I already own the OG ones I will skip now, was on board for a collection). Pikmin 4 is my fave!

@Pusher2021 Exactly. I have Metroid Prime 1, 2 and 3 already. There was a collection of the three games for Wii than introduced a widescreen video mode and motion controls. Now Nintendo will milk 1, 2 and 3 separately as if they were new games. Pikmin 4 is also the highlight for me.

No Mario Maker news... quite disappointed about that.

i seriously called it that the original cast from the first 2 xenoblade games are coming back to this dlc story sequel that takes places after 3 ending to join up with noah to apparently stop alvis who might be the actual threat in this conclusion to the klaus arc.

One of the best Directs of all time. So hyped for GB and GBA on NSO, the new Yoshi Island track, Metroid Prime and more!

This was the first Direct I ever watched live and only did so in hopes of seeing more footage of Zelda. I am completely blown away by how much was announced though! My gosh!

Pokemon SV performance update or DLC was the biggest absence

@PinderSchloss To be completely fair to them, though, there's loads of time for them to show more. It's probably not going to catch lightning in a bottle like the original did but there's no doubt it'll be a great time just not the masterpiece (I consider) BOTW to be.

I loved this Direct! So many niche but beloved franchises made a surprise return to Switch, like Etrian Odyssey, Professor Layton, Baten Kaitos, Fantasy Life, and Ghost Trick! Not to mention shadow drops all over, from lots of demos to freakin' GB/GBA and Metroid Prime!!

Absolutely love Nintendo saving some juicy shadow drops for official Directs. It's worth the wait!

Too few people are talking about Baten Kaitos here. Seriously underrated gems from the Gamecube eroa. Also, unless im mistaken its the first time we get BK Origins in Europe. Its probably the news that made me the happiest

What source confirms that Layton is coming out 2023?

I have been waiting for a New Style Boutique game on Switch since I discovered the backlog of DS & 3DS games which were actually quite fun! So happy to see a new one for Switch! Also Layton and Ghost Trick are keeping me alive rn. Too many good games with the obvious pick(min)s, mixed with all these banger surprises. I can't purchase all of them.
