Re: Don't Expect Any More Miniature Consoles From Sega

tektite_captain

This is the CEO of Sega America and Europe, not the actual head of Sega Japan who would actually make this decision. Although, further mini consoles aren’t likely anyway, because it could be more profitable to release Sega’s retro properties in a subscription service. Or at least, they think it could be more profitable.

Re: Ubisoft Reportedly Discussing Buyout Options As Talks Of Going Private Continue

As an old *****, I’ve played video games for nearly 30 years and I don’t think I’ve ever purchased an UbiSoft game? I know they have somewhat of a pedigree, but a rather mediocre pedigree as far as I’m concerned. I’d rather play Castlevania or Metroid than Prince of Persia, and Mario, Donkey Kong, Sonic, etc rather than Rayman. The appeal of Rabbids has always escaped me. How UbiSoft got Nintendo to license Mario to them for the Rabbids games is the most interesting thing about them.

Re: Saudi Public Investment Fund Considering Increasing Its Stake In Nintendo

@Not_Soos The same guy who "seemed genuine" is also directly responsible for the murder and dismemberment of a journalist who opposed him. Con artists and dictators often "seem genuine", otherwise no one would ever believe them and they wouldn't be a problem.

Regarding Saudi involvement in 9/11, he's probably telling the truth in that officially, the Saudi government wasn't involved and it wouldn't make sense for them to be involved. But individual members of the government, as well as members of the Saudi royal family, most likely were, and the government is protecting them. The Saudi royal family extends to literally thousands of members, and their involvement wouldn't imply any complicity on the part of the ruling members of the family.

Re: Poll: Are You Bothered By The Frame Rate In Zelda: Echoes Of Wisdom?

tektite_captain

I only notice the frame rate occasionally, but I just don't understand why it's like this. It's a 2D overhead game, it doesn't seem like it would tax the Switch hardware. Although to be fair, I'm a dunce about technology. I also don't understand why they just didn't make it a stable 30 fps instead of jumping back and forth between 30 and 60.

Re: Horror Dev Bloober Team Says It's Working On A New Project For Nintendo Platforms

tektite_captain

They only claim that Project M will "open our second-party portfolio under the Broken Mirror Games brand" That doesn't necessarily mean "publish". It could still be published by Nintendo and this would serve as the launch for the Broken Mirror Games brand.

A partnership with Nintendo would be the best way to launch any new brand, and every other sign points to this being Emio. Who else are "the world's best game creators for Nintendo platforms" besides Nintendo themselves? Why is this game "extremely important" for their long-term plans? Why would any small publisher risk make a horror game exclusively for a kid-friendly platform? Make a Switch port, sure, but exclusively?

Re: Donkey Kong Country Returns HD Costs $60 On Switch

@Kirgo Inflation exists, regardless of anything else, Nintendo doesn't exist in a magical world where they can continue to charge the same arbitrary price for games regardless of the current value of a dollar.

Also, why should old games cost less than new ones? Do old movies cost less than new ones? Does old music cost less than new music? Are you angry when you pay the same price to download The Godfather that you pay to download a movie that came out this year? Nintendo charges what the consumer is willing to pay, which is why a less popular series like Metroid had a $40 remaster and a more popular series like Donkey Kong has a $60 remaster. None of this is confusing or hard to understand.
