Re: "Feels Like A Fleshed Out Beta" - Fans Are Unhappy With Pokémon Champions At Launch

@Markatron84 being on social media does that to you!

also, wow i can't believe people had reasonable criticisms of a product from a giant company! isn't that just so annoying?

@chatsworth everyone expected missing pokemon, i think a lot of them knew that going in.
items that, as the article says, were in the trailers suddenly being gone from the actual game is a bit more of a concern.
it's at least trying to be a big spot for both preexisting competitive players as well as for those starting out. why not have pretty standard items used for comps, and why not include all the items so even casuals can get used to them? i think it's easier to say "hey kid, learn like.. five more items!" compared to "hey kid, learn about 900 more pokemon!"

Re: Round Up: The Reviews Are In For The Super Mario Galaxy Movie

not enough time to reply to everyone on here, but i am sick of the "were they looking for a super deep story???" no, of course not, they're critics, not idiots. the mario movie barely qualified as a movie (and i say this as someone that enjoyed it well enough), what they were looking for was any significant plot to begin with, and that's much more of an issue with a sequel movie that most of these previews mention is based off a fan-favorite game that specifically had a bit of a deeper narrative behind the scenes.

Re: Round Up: The Reviews Are In For The Super Mario Galaxy Movie

@N00BiSH rare case where i agree with you. most people who say "but mario games don't have plots anyways, so who cares!" are probably those that solely remember the "new" series of games and nothing else.

i will admit i liked the first movie solely for the sheer number of references, but i fully understood that it was not a good movie. this certainly isn't a case of critics being overly... critical (wow, i can't believe they did what they were supposed to), it's a vast difference in what audiences expect out of the media.

it is not a sin to suggest a mario movie should movie a lot more.

Re: Rumour: Nintendo's 2026 Plans Include New Star Fox & Zelda Remake, No 3D Mario

squiddu-real

unlike one of the top comments i don't think there's any particular sin with nintendo putting out a remake or two still. we're out of the switch 1 gutter, it's not all they're putting out now.

this is also my first time listening to the podcast in full, and i gotta say i do enjoy hearing nate talk. i relate to his thoughts on how people treat directs, how many seem to be shocked at the idea nintendo may have more announcements that aren't through directs because they get swept up in the thrill of a new direct. he's got a good head on his shoulders.

that being said, i always remain skeptical of most of his predictions, i'm not sure why him guessing some direct dates made him a messiah, but many of these would be very cool (raiders pleaaaaase.....)

Re: Nintendo To Change Pricing For Digital & Physical Switch 2 Exclusives, Starting With Yoshi

squiddu-real

surprisingly im seeing more people super cynical about this on bluesky than reddit. feels weird.

anyways, i'm leaning on the hopeful side, that maybe this means less games will cost 70 bucks by default and we get more 60/70 splits, rather than more 70/80 ones. starting this off with yoshi feels like it makes this harder to figure out, since i feel it was pretty likely they would've priced this game at 60 with the old pricing scheme anyways.

guess we'll just have to wait and see.

Re: Feature: Nintendo May Win Its Case Against The US Government, But Tariffs Are Here To Stay

squiddu-real

god forbid we have some sort of online space where we normally don't have to think about it.

a lot of people want to escape it specifically because we are forced to think about it constantly everywhere else. i don't think it's unreasonable to want at least one spot where you can still find solace in the hobby.

granted, i don't think a news site is the greatest choice...

Re: Europe Might Be Forcing Nintendo To Revise The Switch 2

squiddu-real

@ShadLink maybe im stupid but "just update the cable" in reference to letting it charge with higher wattage... sounds ridiculous.

also you mentioned every other significant change they would make except the one that matters here: power draw. the chip is 8nm density and almost certainly upgradable to being smaller. even 7nm could offset the lower capacity battery by a good amount, depending on how much lower it would have to be.

Re: Europe Might Be Forcing Nintendo To Revise The Switch 2

squiddu-real

@squiddu-real expansion:

both versions of the standard switch 1 (and the oled!) have the same capacity battery. they usually make revisions to reduce power draw and inconsistent manufacturing. possibly, this revision could do the same, but use a slightly lower capacity battery. still a increase in battery life, but maybe not as significant.

Re: Europe Might Be Forcing Nintendo To Revise The Switch 2

squiddu-real

i have my doubts nintendo would be willing to introduce a brand new revision of both the console and the dock for something like this, that makes things a bit too complex. imagine wanting an extra dock and needing to scrounge through the model numbers to make sure it's the right one.

more than likely this will be incorporated into a revision like what switch 1 got
