From what I understand (from PushSquare and even from one of the 2 danish tabloids) there has occured a 'RAM' crisis over the last couple of months. Prices have simply sky rocketed because the whole AI boom requires so much RAM, leaving only little at higher prices to computers, smartphones, tablets and gaming consoles. It should mean that prices for those devices should only go up in the coming months. So better grab a Switch 2 fast.
Edit: actually the Switch 2 Mario Kart World bundle is #2 on the highest selling products list of Denmark's largest on-line retailer, 'Coolshop', atm, out of almost 51000 products (the Resident Evil Generation pack is #6 and the regular Switch 2 version of RE Requiem is #7 - crazy times we live in!)
As @GavinLane says in the article the Batman Arkham Trilogy is tempting at around 20 €. I do own all the Arkham games on my Steam Deck already (bought Asylum a total of 4 time on different platforms, City 4 times, Origins Blackgate 5 times, Origins 3 times and Knight 3 times).
But still I'm very much tempted, although I think I'll wait until the 14th where the sale ends, because I have a bit too many old arcade games on my "plate" right now.
I'm continuing playing a lot of really old games which I've been doing a lot since late october (Atari 50 and dlcs; Namco Museum; Arcade Archives games; Taito Milestones collection 1 and 2 etc.).
Going from a Switch Lite, with its small screen, to a Switch 2 has made these old games so much better for me, as I can now see what I'm doing much better (plus the Switch 2 screen has pretty good blacks imo).
Now that we talk about funny coincidences with names (Bowser mainly of course), it is a bit funny that the protagonist, Adam Jensen's "archfiend"/"enemy within the Company", was called Frank Pritchard in Deus Ex: Human Revolution (and that game was ported to the Wii U in a Director's Cut edition that was supposed to an exclusive to the system - that of course didn't happen for quite obvious reasons).
The funny thing is that in hindsight I have ended up finding Adam Jensen just as annoying (and arrogant) as Frank Pritchard. I didn't see it it the first I played the game, but, yeah, Adam Jensen is a pretty rude and arrogant person imo.
@RoboCube The Arcade Archives releases do come with some extras though: comprehensive manual included with each game (which can be a God send imo); free leaderboards (no NSO subscription needed - and it's part of the fun trying better your scores imo); you often have several versions of the games (US, japanese etc. - Space Invaders for example comes with OG b&w version, color version and b&w version with background graphics); there are several different modes available with each game (the Switch 2 versions of the games have an added 'Time Attack' mode and is a bit more expensive); there are tons of options to fiddle with (screen filters; reassignable buttons etc. - there could be more I admit - actual buttons/stick setup support for the Tate modes please).
But in the end it comes down to picking the games, that has that "one more try" aura to you personally. So definitely do some research before you buy.
To those who think $8/7 € is a bit steep, I can see where you're coming from. But do some research on YouTube and the likes to see if a game's graphics at least appeals to you (even better: you have some old favorites you didn't really get to play that much back in the day, because it cost around an € adjusted for inflation for just one round/game and now you can play them endlessly).
Merry Christmas everyone. I hope we'll all get an extra Christmas present a bit later today, as Space Invaders (the video game that really made the whole video games "thing"/business take off in a big way) is being released on Arcade Archives today as their 500th release (I'm hoping there'll be a big Arcade Archives sale as well to celebrate its release).
Capcom Fighting Collection 2 Switch is my favorite video game release of 2025. I have over 40 hours in it so far and like it more than Marvel vs. Capcom Fighting Collection: Arcade Classics from 2024. 9/10.
I've finally managed to get some real hours out of Metro 2033, that I bought as one of the first games for my Switch Lite back in april 2020. The Switch 2's much larger and better screen makes it so much better (I did play it on my Xbox 360 back at launch in 2010, but I can't remember much of it - but good game nontheless).
Other than that I just got Kingdom Come Delieverance for 5 €, and I'm playing that a bit on the side as well. I doesn't seem like it has had any patches bettering the visuals/performance yet, but I'm hoping there'll be a Switch 2 edition (with an upgrade path possibly).
@mackers84 Ok, thanks, maybe I'll buy it that way, although I'm more or less done with the game. Are the graphics that much better though, now that it's not 60 fps?
Does anyone know if the Switch 2 Anniversary Edition is still free, if you have Switch (1) version? (the Anniversary upgrade from OG Switch (1) version is right now 10 €, so it would the cheapest way to upgrade to the Switch 2 version - if it's still free).
Not a big fan of it. But I did like Revelations a lot so maybe it's not really an issue (didn't know Nakanishi directed that too - wasn't a fan of 7 though - still isn't). But no recaps before each chapter please, make it a fluid progression.
I can't deny that I'm quite a bit excited for what will shown at the Game Awards tonight, with RE Requiem starting to look more interesting (so interesting that I actually pre-ordered the Lenticular Edition for my Switch 2 - Game Key Card and all today).
But now also a new (ok, maybe another remake of the first, but still..) Tomb Raider seemingly on the cards (not that I was exactly amazed by last 3 ones, but I think I could be surprised by this one).
I'm not going to watch the show though, as I value a good night's sleep more than any videogame.
@cvrator Ok, having played it some more on my Switch 2, you're right it's not 60 fps (fluid 30 fps I would say).
Crashes I haven't experienced any of so far, around 2 hours, but from my experience playing on Switch (1); don't make too many saves or it will start crashing (a memory problem I'd say).
Other than that load times are a lot faster on Switch 2 in my experience.
Netflix probably had a look into WB's "books" and could see that their gaming business hadn't done particularly well over the last 10 year maybe. It's business after all, you have to remember.
"I fart" in danish means "in motion". In english it means "letting out a wind". So maybe the headline for this article should have been "Video: Skyrim Still Isn't 60fps On Switch 2, But Here's How It Farts Against Switch 1". Especially when the sub headline is "Must have been the wind" and the article is covering something in motion (a video). Where the "wind" really comes in beats me though, but maybe someone has a suggestion. Just my 2 cents.
I feel a bit burned with the Oblivion remaster over on my Steam Deck. I did hope they would patch it a few more times, but nothing so far after almost 5 months, so I think I'll wait for 50% off sale with this one.
Got mine 2 weeks ago and coming from a Switch Lite and Steam Deck (and 3DS, Vita etc.), I'm positively surprised with what I've gotten: The screen is much better than I thought; big (makes my Steam Deck seem small); colors are really "popping" from what I've been used to; black color is almost perfect imo (not grey or anything). The thumbsticks are very smooth and precise (I can now play Pac-Man and feel I'm in almost 100% control). 256 GB internal memory is more than enough for me for now. Only real negatives are; no D-pad and some Switch (1) compability issues (RE4 froze on me; I ran through one of the ghosts several times in Pac-Man; the ghosts "paused" oddly from time to time in Super Pac-Man).
It's in the middle of the night where I live (CET 1:30am), so I'll just watch the "raisin in the sausage's end" aka 'Resident Evil Requiem' (they always seem to show 'Requiem' as more or less the last game in these Keoff shows), the next day (the game seems to have actual zombies in it - nice! - there's some footage of it over at Eurogamer).
I bought mine a week ago at the largest on-line retailer in Denmark; for what substitutes around £468.50 including a big Nacon "hard case" including screen protector plus a Nacon silicon "glove" (which is actually really good as it gives a much better grip plus it holds the Joy-Cons even tighter in place). All in all a pretty good deal imo.
I bought a Switch 2 for this game, but ended not buying the game, as I found out the game had been patched on my Steam Deck with 60fps and Ultra settings perfectly doable. I do regard the game as a semi-classic, but have played it 3 times now, which must be enough.
Definitely tempting as the PS4 remaster was so much better than the PS3 version (fair price point too). Will wait for review/performance analysis though.
It does come with the US arcade versions of Dig Dug and Xevious also (that are "qualified" for this collection, because they were published by Atari, I believe).
@Zeebor15 First: there are 13 other games in the very, very popular franchises Pac-Man (best-selling arcade machine ever - over a million sold), Galaxian (In the top 10), Galaga (very, very popular), Xevious (very, very popular) and Dig-Dug (also an all time classic). Second: I'm personally looking forward to try out the infamous Atari 2600 Pac-Man (that was just a prototype, but was forced out by management/marketing), because all aspects of videogaming interests me.
@Zeebor15 Just see a as curiosity. With 8 million copies of it sold for platform that sold 30 million units it IS an important part of videogame history (and that IS a fact!).
@Colinjames If there'll be another videogame crash it will be in the adult oriented AAA space I believe, not because of a brilliant priced DLC like this (14 games all from very popular franchises AND 2 of the games are even arcade versions that alone cost almost twice as much as the entire DLC in their Arcade Archives versions).
Nice to finally have a release date (the Atari 50 collection was updated with fairly large update a couple of days ago, but you couldn't buy the expansion yet). Nice price point too, very fair for what it is imo.
My main issue atm is audio volume being very low in some of the games. Overall the audio volume is low on Switch Lite, but that's a general problem with retro collections/Hamster releases in my experience (they could add a lower difficulty level in the arcade versions mainly, like Capcom did in their Fighting Games collections, also).
Machine storming is back, I guess; it has always been this way with new technologies and uncharted territoris. The politicians leave it all relatively unregulated for the first many years, because they don't want to kill innovation, and therefore it's always a bit like the Wild West the first many years; just look at how many unathorized clones even big companies made of other companies games well into the 1980's.
As I don't play online, I would give it 9/10 (like Pushsquare) for the sheer amount of kontent (games, interviews etc.), and for the fact that even the Gameboy and Gameboy Advance games are really great fun.
Actually new games/experiences (non remasters/remakes), one every 2 years the last 4½ years (I actually made a list a few years on how many day one games I've bought each year since 2007 - it peaked in 2011 with 7).
Capcom seems to be very stingy with showing anything of any real substance. If this is supposed to be gameplay, it might as well be an interactive movie or a walking simulator. Lets see some combat ffs.
I've been thinking.. maybe I should "give" myself a Switch 2 for Xmas, if there's is a good Black Friday deal.
Because I do want to support Nintendo as I trust them most in the end and I want them to succeed (and they're quite amicable - although Steam is good too).
But 7/10 because RE9 is coming day one to the console (I just hope it will be well optimized - one of the reasons I might want to buy early).
But a slight price reduction would go a long way..
Not sold on Requiem yet from what Capcom have shown (and more stalking enemies apparantly ). But now that it might be coming to PS4, I might give it a go if it's 60 € or less for a physical copy, as I would be able to recoup a large portion of my investment, if I tire of it quickly.
@shgamer To answer my own first comment (#11) and having just played 'Cold Fear' on my Steam Deck:
Yeah the game definitely needs another control option/mode like the one in 'Resident Evil: Revelations'; camera behind the player at a fixed position at all times; over the shoulder view when you raise your weapon and aim while being able to move slowly at the same time; and strafe naturally at all times.
@hisownsidekick Yes, AitD: The New Nightmare is very impressive technically, but was unfortunately delayed (probably for that very reason). And came out very late in the PSOne's life, when the classic AitD/Resident 1-3 pre-rendered formula was on its way out (and bombed commercially I suspect).
Cold Fear was also very technically impressive for its time, giving a very good impression of being onboard a ship in the middle of a storm.
@hisownsidekick The first developer of 'I Am Alive', Darkworks, actually also made 'Cold Fear' (mentioned in the article also) and before that 'Alone in the Dark: The New Nightmare' (both are worth checking out if you like classic survival horror games).

Today I'm planning to play 1942 and 1943 Kai with a bit of Ghost 'n Goblins and Pirate Ship Higemaru on the side. All on Capcom Stadium 1 and 2.

Resident Evil 4 on my Switch 2.

May I recommend playing the OG version of Skyrim on Switch 2. It looks surprisingly good and I'm pretty sure it now runs at 60 fps.
