This week's UK charts are now in and this one is once again a slightly quieter affair for Nintendo titles in the top ten, with only three Switch games making the cut.
As is to be expected, Mario Kart 8 Deluxe and Minecraft appear in the ten best-selling games of this week in fifth and tenth places respectively (it really will be one for the books when they fall off the table) and Super Mario Odyssey continues to sell well in at eighth, capping off yet another week back in the charts.
The rest of the picture is more Playstation and Xbox-focused this time around. Resident Evil 4 retains the pole position from last week, closely followed by the other returners, FIFA 23 (27% of sales for which continue to come from the Switch), Hogwarts Legacy and Call of Duty: Modern Warfare II.
While the top ten might not be all about Nintendo this week, the Switch dominates the later numbers on the charts. Every position from 12th-23rd has seen the majority of its sales coming from the Switch, with the likes of Animal Crossing: New Horizons and Nintendo Switch Sports in at positions 12 and 13, and Mario Party Superstars and Splatoon 3 in the early 20s.
But that's quite enough from us, here's your look at this week's top ten:
Last Week | This Week | Game |
---|---|---|
1 |
1 | Resident Evil 4 |

2 | FIFA 23 |

@Anti-Matter No one’s forcing you to like or buy them. 🤷♂️
Not really Nintendo-related (unless they do a cloud version eventually I guess) but since it's relevant here, anyone who has the means to play the RE4 remake should totally check it out. Don't know if I like it quite as much as the original, which is one of my favorite games ever, but still absolutely loved it.
Nice to see RE4R get the attention it deserves. Really need to get around to it.
Pretty typical week and will probably be the same going forward for quite a while. We probably won't see a major shift in the charts until Jedi Survivor in late April and Tears of the Kingdom in mid May.
Really been enjoying the RE 4 remake. Only criticism I'd have is the (likely) business decision to take Separate Ways out to sell to us later as DLC but other than that a very good re-imagining of a classic. Hope it finds its way to the Switch's successor in more than just cloud form.
@Gamer83 yes that would have been nice and mercenaries in there day 1 as well but we’ll be getting it free soon enough. I’m really hoping for co-op mercenaries, that’d be so worth the wait. I’m playing thru professional now and I’ve died more than I’d like to admit. Defeating a garridor with the knife only on pro is not recommended.
@Yannis It's at the top of charts so often for the same reason wii sports was. Bundles and the fact that it's a good game for beginners make it jump up into the charts everytime I lot of people buy a switch.
Gotham Knights was reduced on amazon and the online shops so might explain its mysterious entry here.
Resident evil 4 deserves its strong sales its just an amazing remake
@MetaCrystal Yeah, i guess that makes perfect sense, since i bought mine as a bundle as well, it was my first game too.
Yeah, RE4 really is an excellent remake, I have very few criticisms. Although I was a little disappointed to learn they actually removed one of the cooler bosses from the game, U3. Considering all the sequences they actually retained from the original, seemed odd to remove an iconic encounter like that one. I have a feeling it might show up in the Ada dlc however, which is still kinda lame.
I didn't enjoy RE:4 all that much. It was just like replying a fresh coat of paint. Good thing my friend let me borrow their copy. Saved me some cash.
@Rhum17 His comment has been disliked into oblivion, was he getting mad at charts in a country he doesn't live in, full of games bought by a completely different demographic to him?
Why was @Anti-Matter's post deleted? He had as much right to post his opinions on the chart, as much as someone had a right to respond to his comment. Saying he doesn't like anything in the top10 apart from Nintendo releases, shouldn't be a reason to delete his post.
I didn't agree with his post, but I wouldn't go out of the way to delete it. Can you tell me which community rule he broke?
I bought Metroid Prime Remastered last week, delivered yesterday… but my son has been playing it so I haven’t had the chance!
@Judgedean I think that there is a system that if a post is disliked a certain number of times, it will not be visible anymore or it will be grayed out.
@Zuljaras I hope that isn't what happened, as that would be open to abuse (hope my post doesn't get deleted for sticking up for him).
@Judgedean If the majority thinks that a post is irritating or unhelpful it is a legit a reason.
I think that it would be better to leave the post but also show the number of dislikes. Not everything should be sugar coated and looked through pink glasses.
@Judgedean It's strange here the way comments are deleted. On another article featuring the Metroid Fusion commercial, people were making fun of the actor playing Samus who was clearly a male.
I simply joked "Only guys can handle a gun that big" and it was removed for trolling. Apparently the sarcasm was offensive. So Idk.
Alot of the times post here get removed for silly reasons. It reminds of me ResetEra where any slight disagreement is met with an instaban.
I am surprised they didn’t coordinate the release of a game with the movie…..
@Zuljaras I don't think the "majority" would have reported this, especially in such short time.
As not to get into a guessing game, NL, can you tell me why @Anti-Matter's post was deleted? If it was due to it being reported as irritating or unhelpful, how many people need to report this?
I agree that they should bring back the like and dislike feature - loved that feature and there were times my posts got heavly disliked, but I didn't care. Lets not censor silly things like this.
@Judgedean Hi there, we are happy to talk about moderation with the relevant user directly. The comment section isn't the best place for that discussion.
Just wanted to jump in here and say the user has since deleted their own comment which is why it isn't showing up at all. If it was removed by the team, it would still appear with the removal reason. Thanks
I mostly buy those types of games in physical form. So not really bothered with these sales.
@DreamlandGem Thanks for clearing up that mystery
I still don't know why Nintendo and Capcom haven't crossed over Mario and Resident evil yet. An Italian American mustachioed man, crazy off mushrooms, fighting is inner demons manifested as zombied goomba's.
That’s impressive and great to see that Odyssey is in the top 10! Really one of the best, if not the best platformers ever created.
CALL OF DUTY!
** shakes fist **
Ah, you thought I was gonna say Fifa! 😜
Resident Evil 4 on top is absolutely deserved from what I've seen and heard (which makes it even more a shame that I can't play it myself)!
Other than that we have the usual games in the charts, except for Odyssey which hasn't been in the top 10 for a while but luckily is still in even this week, love to see it!
Nice to see the Switch still holding it's own against higher spec hardware.
Shame no Hogwarts on the Switch, as a Harry Potter theme OLED would of been awesome.
@WiltonRoots I guess, I’m not really sure what his issue is or why he copy and pastes the same message onto every article regarding sales charts.
@Judgedean they love to censor. It’s like a dictatorship over here!
@Judgedean if a mod deleted a comment, it shows as comment deleted. If the comment no longer appears, it was the user who deleted it. In this case, it was Anti himself the one who deleted the comment
honestly, everything I've seen of the RE4 remake looks very unappealing. I was concerned when they announced it that they were gonna tone down the campiness of the original, and it seems like that's exactly what they did.
@Total_Weirdo The game should still come on Switch even though much later (hopefully it will be properly optimized thanks to that) while as cool as it would be I doubt they'd make an OLED.
