The latest UK boxed charts are now in, giving us an idea of what's going on in the world of physical game sales. The answer this week: nothing new, really.
After a slightly quieter week for Nintendo after the Easter break, this week's standing does see a few more titles from the Big N breaking into the charts. Mario Kart 8 Deluxe has overtaken the competition, moving up two places and currently sitting in second, while Super Mario Odyssey continues to sell well thanks to the release of the new Switch bundle and the Mario Movie, this time landing in fifth place.
It's FIFA 23 that scores another victory this time around, with the Switch accounting for 27% of boxed sales (leaving it as the game's second most-popular console, after the PS5 on 49%). Minecraft and New Super Mario Bros. U Deluxe round out the week's top ten, with the likes of Nintendo Switch Sports, Animal Crossing: New Horizons and Pokémon Scarlet all bagging a spot in the teens.
Devolver Digital's Cult of the Lamb has also managed to make its way into the top 40 this week, landing at 28th with 78% of sales coming from the Switch.
Here's your look at the week's top ten in full:

Same games, different week. Just the buildup to Star Wars Jedi Survivor and Zelda TOTK
Feels like a missed opportunity to make a DLC for a new world in Odyssey.
@syrupdash Or a brand new 3D Mario platformer, it's been almost 6 years.
May’s gonna be an interesting month that’s for sure.
Who's every buying Fifa, stop it! 😆
@Rob3008
Right behind you with that one.
It’s about time and well overdue.
We need another Mario Kart 8 DLC pack.
Even better, how about Nintendo making a big free update to Mario Kart 8? The game could easily sustain itself with 100% free updates.
Love to see Odyssey so high this week, but the biggest surprise is certainly New Super Mario Bros. U Deluxe back in the top 10 even though barely!
@victordamazio I would like to see a MK8 track based on New Donk City.
@Axecon Does the UK do Street Fighter?
So happy to see Super Mario Odyssey doing so well at the moment. Come on Nintendo, where’s our favourite plumbers next adventure? Odyssey 2, Galaxy 3, whatever it is, I want it now!
Nice to see Ragnarok still so high it deserves every sale
So Switch hardware sales seeing a boost from the film. Yeah, they know what they are doing this year.
@GrailUK Also TotK will set a boost to the sales, including the new Limited edition.
@sanderev Very true. The Switch is so going to overtake the DS lifetime eventually.
The legs of Mario Kart 8 Deluxe never cease to amaze me. I haven't played that game since the Wii U days.
@Cashews I'm getting that at launch. Played 2, 4 and 5 as much as I could and loved every minute. Missed out on 3's initial run, sadly, but played it a bit via retro releases.
@JohnnyC I'm buying a PS5 solely for SF6.
@Dpullam Deluxe with all the new content would be totally worth it for you. I bought it at launch and put a solid 50 hours in it. Then didn’t play it for a while and of course started playing again with the new content. It’s added about ten hours so far. I bet I end up putting in another 20-30 hours. I probably have 700 hours on it with the WiiU….
@rockodoodle I am worried that I might get bored of it even with the new maps and characters, but I have considered playing it again. I have been letting my kids play my brother's copy and they have really been enjoying it. I forgot how nice the game looked too, though I didn't have as nice of a TV in the Wii U days so that could be a part of that. The game definitely doesn't show its age.
@Dpullam yeah, u have to temper expectations. Whilst the new content is worth playing and it extends the life of the game, it doesn’t quite have the same pop it had back in the day. The Tour tracks can get stale and done of the remasters are outright boring. But there’s still meat on the bone….
@rockodoodle Exactly, which is why I still debate playing it myself. There is enough content to justify playing it again, but since the gameplay is the exact same, I am unsure how long my attention would stick with game.
