The main hero of the the Legend of Zelda series has appeared in multiple different forms over the years. Cute and cartoon-y, dark and gritty, realistic or impressionistic, but nearly always garbed in green, Link (or whatever you chose to name him in your save file) is always ready with the Master Sword in hand to fight the forces of evil.
With so many different interpretations the various Links, can you match each one to the Zelda game he appeared in? Below we've collected together official artwork from 21 games in the Zelda series to test your knowledge.

Easy peasy 21/21! The Oracle games might trip some people up who haven’t played them, they’re criminally underrated.
21 out of 21.
Not gonna lie, I just blindly guessed on the Oracle games lol
19 out of 21. What I learnt is that half of these are basically just windwaker link
19/21 got confused with Sprit Tracks because I've never played it, and original Link's Awakening caught me off guard.
Ha HA! Finally a NL quiz I could net a perfect score on.
21 out of 21! Yes! Was kind of worried I'd get the oracles and DSs mixed up but what do you know, good guesses, I'd say!
19 of 21, not bad
19/21 for me, since I've never played the DS games and haven't completed the Oracle ones.
21/21 for me.
Even as a huge Zelda fan myself, a handful of them had me by the neck.
21 out of 21. I had to remember which Oracle game had which item but other than that pretty easy.
@StephenYap3 I've never seen a baseball cap on Vile, let alone Cappy. That's pretty good.
21/21, easy! Only one I was doubting was Oracle of Ages one since that's the only art I didn't recognize nor have I played that one, but the art style looked GB like and didn't recognize it from Seasons. So Ages it was!
You scored 16 out of 21.
I am satisfied as I have never played any of the Wii/WiiU Zelda games. Also never played the Oracle Games.
Hah I miss-tapped the wrong wind waker on the HD one. There goes the perfect score.
16/21, haven't played all the Zelda games, they started losing meaning during and after Ocarina of Time.
21/21. Real Zelda buff here. 👌
Man, 0/21. I thought all of them were Zelda.
18/21, haven't played too many of the handheld entries. So the DS games look the same and the Oracle games look the same from an outsider's perspective
Darn it, missed one.
21/21, all the art styles have a lot of personality, making it easier to distinguish.
19/21 - I'm impressed!
21/21 im coming for you Princess.
20/21 as I shrug and gently shake my head and say "shoganai ne."
Question 3 - I'm really hoping they release 'Majora's Mash 3D' on Switch. Lol. Definitely my favourite potato themed game on N64.
Ugh, stupid Wind Waker HD...that shouldn't count. lol
21/21.
I've played them all and love the art.
Almost none of them were ingame characters... 17/21
I feel using the remastered versions of link is unnecessary, I mean they look identical to their standard definition counterparts and they’re easy to tell apart, the biggest challenge lies in the varying “Toon” incarnations of link
Fun quiz! 20/21 because it’s been a while since I played the oracle games. Corrected my mistake when the Seasons question came around.
20/21. Original Link's Awakening got me.
21/21
I had to stop & think a bit when it came to the first Oracle Link, but when I saw the harp has a dual color scheme it brought to mind past & present rather than 4 seasons, so I guessed & got it right!
21/21
This whas a must for me haha
17 out of 20. Not bad.
21/21 for me on a first attempt. The only one I almost stumbled on was Wind Waker vs. Wind Waker HD. Cheeky cheeky, NintendoLife.
Ffffff!! 20/21
I got one of them wrong where I picked A Link to the Past, but I think it was Link's Awakening, maybe?
18/21 - Got one of the Oracles wrong. Got the Wind Waker HD one wrong ( picked regular Wind Waker instead). And for some reason picked A Link Between Worlds for what is clearly Wind Waker.
Who cares, I know my Links!
16/21
Better than I've done in most of these guess who articles.
21/21, I'm too Legend.
"The official artwork that accompanied the release of Zelda II: The Adventure of Link featured a hero with the same yellow band around his cap as the in the original NES game."
That's because it's the same Link. He was questing in this one to save a different Zelda, one that had been put to sleep long ago, and is the whole basis for why the series is called The Legend of Zelda.
Of course, Nintendo's "timeline" kind of messed up that whole story point.
19/21. Doing this has reminded me that I have barely played any of the portable Zeldas... I blame that on the fact that I didn't really have any portable consoles growing up
12/21 Not a Zelda fan.
only ones I got wrong were the Oracle games haven't played them enough to remember them
17/21
I haven't played a Zelda game before Ocarina but I thought I'd do better than that.
Oh well.
No CDi Links. Dissappointed.
18/21, I confused the Oracle games and one from WW with MC
I confused the two GBC zeldas -_-
21/21 tho I had to double check and see the oracle boxes so I cheated a little.
I don’t remember Skyward Sword art looking like that. But then again, I didn’t remember a lot of the art (apparently).
21/21 only because I read the Oracle of Seasons/Ages manga and could tell between the two items
Only missed 1!
..... I didn't realize I knew so much about Zelda and which games he is from..... Only missed one. The Zelda with orange/ brownish red hair confused me sometimes. Haha
This quiz was a breeze. Besides having played most Zelda games by this point, I've also spent an unhealthy amount of time perusing Zelda art books like Hyrule Historia. XD
10/21.
And I've played Ocarina of Time (on N64 and 3ds), Majora's Mask, Twilight Princess, Phantom Hour Glass, Spirit Tracks, A link Between World and BOTW and I have some artbooks on Zelda.
My memory is so bad !
Easy peasy for a Zelda fan.
18/21. I surprised myself.
Was a fun quiz
17/21, The DS and NES ones I messed up on
16/21. I missed out on the Oracle games, always hated Wind Waker and never really liked Skyward Sword either.
21/21! hell yeah!
I'm really surprised that a few curve balls weren't thrown for people who don't know the series too well in the mix like Soul Calibur 2
@nessisonett Maybe if they'd ported Seasons and Ages to the Switch in a three pack with Awakening, it might've beeworth $60.
Confused the Oracles for some reason, but having the first one wrong made the second one obvious.
0/21 for me. I thought they were all Wand of Gamelon!
@thehappyaerithch It took me 2 tries to get 21/21
17-21. Not perfect but not terrible. Most of the ones I missed were just me rushing, apart from one that I genuinely didn't know and tried a guess.
20 out of 21 for me - only got number 18 wrong. Seemed to be exactly the same kind of art style as the Minish Cap one a few before it (shield even seemed to have the same design), and I wasn't sure if they'd be sneaky and use the same game for two answers. Only later did I look back and see that they did say "from 21 games", meaning they would definitely all be different. If I'd realized that, Wind Waker would've been the obvious choice. Oh well.
20/21 I've never actually seen that artwork from Link's Awakening before, so it tripped me up. I definitely would've remembered such a terribly drawn Link.
21/21 - Too Easy, Drill Sargeant.
@Zuljaras shame on you
14/21 most of them where trick ones. played all the games
Those Toon Link games got me. 12/21
TIL that Link had a cross on his shield at one point.
Shouldn't number 3 specifically be the "GAMECUBE" version of Twilight Princess? Not "GC/Wii" as is stated.
In the picture, Link is using his left hand to hold the sword. He couldn't do this in the Wii version, correct?
I could be wrong.
I know it's nit-picky, but this is a Nintendo-fansite after all.
Has made me want to play the Oracles games again. I've got time.
Disappointed in myself. Only got 18/21. Thought LoZ was Z2, Ages was Seasons, and somehow missed WW.
21/21 oracle games threw me for a loop
21 out of 21! (Darth Vader voice) All too easy
@GrizzledVeteran
You're correct about which game had Link left-handed in game for sure, but from what I can tell, the Wii box and manual art still show him as left-handed. It started development as a GameCube only game, and depending on when they started porting it, it may have been too late to change the art. (Or they just didn't care)
For the Wii version, they mirrored everything in game, not just Link's model. It was done because they assumed players would have a hard time if they were swinging with their right hands to make Link's left hand move, and presumably they thought that reorientation would mess with the flow of navigation or muck up puzzles. It would be interesting to do a deep dive and see how much difference that really makes.
20/21! Got Spirit Tracks and Phantom Hourglass mixed up. Lol
I also fluked a perfect score thanks to a lucky guess on the Oracle games.
18/21 the gameboy games screwed me up. I also didn't know that one of the renders was from a link to the past.
20/21. I had a bit of trouble with the older games. Differentiating the Toon Links though? Easy.
I got all 21 correct. I think I may play too much Legend of Zelda.
21 of 21! I tried to remember what link was holding on the box art and other art to figure out the two oracle games.
17/21, not too bad for someone who almost never plays Zelda games! The Oracle of ages/seasons and windwaker/windwaker hd got me pretty good.
@TheDanslator Hey thanks for the awesome and informative reply. I appreciate it!
19/21, got a little mixed up with the 2 Oracle games and 2 DS games... but nice quiz! Would like to see a Mario version (although could be a lot harder/impossible for some later games).
@Losermagnet - Pretty much my result.
@SapphireBlaze - I think at that point, you would have to focus on things like the pose, and which game's box art you can place the character to (kinda like the Oracle game Links in this quiz).
A pretty easy quiz overall, though some took a bit longer to figure out (figuring out which of the Oracle games was which for example, and Spirit Tracks/Phantom Hourglass).
21 Woo-Hoo!! Yeah
Easy peasy!! On first try!!
I kept getting OoT ones wrong which is very strange. 🤨
@PokeNerd2499 well now you know that Oracle of Seasons has the Rod of Seasons and that Oracle of Ages has the Harp of Ages.
@Slowdive especially the Oracles since they just reuse the link's awakening engine again.
20/21
As people already stated here, Oracle games are indeed great! Ages is my fav out of the two as it was the only one I owned till the virtual console release of Seasons.
@GrizzledVeteran I'm an old nerd who's stuck inside with nothing better to do than post on gaming websites. It's nice to hear that one of my unnecessarily long tales of yore was appreciated!
20/21
The Link’s Awakening (GB) art fooled me for A Link to the Past, and when they mentioned that the art was nothing like the in-game character sprite, I knew why.
I never owned Link’s Awakening, physically, until the Switch remaster; so I never saw the instructions’ manual art.
@Arkay nuh, bruh, Seasons does way more with its 4-season theme.
@JacFlash just don’t choke on your ambition
@Ttimer5 What if Link was the boy?
@NorseGamerTommy Yup that’s the one that tripped me up, too
I made one mistake and it bothers me more than it should for some reason..
21/21, pretty easy.
I only got a bit hesitant at Spirit Tracks.
19! I got the NES and SNES Links mixed up!
19 - I thought the NES link was from Zelda II, and I mixed up some other one.
19/21,mixed up two Toon Links.
21/21. Struggled with the Oracle games and original Links Awakening
20 only missed the original links awakening with the link to the past link
Hi there fellow gamers. You scored 15 out of 21. 15-21: Hyper-Link!
That´s not bad, even though I clearly made two mistakes with oracle of Seasons. But still, so many good Legend of Zelda games that I was fortunate to experience and enjoy. My three personal favoutites are: A link between worlds(3DS), Wind Waker(GC) and Breath of the Wild(Switch). Absolutely love those games. still have to get Links awakening remake as the original was my very first Legend of Zelda game on the Game boy Color. Can´t wait for Breath of the Wild 2. Cheers, stay safe and happy gaming to us all
@NintendoPok Come on
I never liked the hardware of the Wii and Wii U.
Not bad for someone who only played one Zelda game before.
Tripped up at the link awakening gb one. 20 out 21 not bad
Too easy.
Give us a challenge next time, guys.
21/21! A few of them were close, though! If I wasn't able to assume that it couldn't be a game that was already an answer above, I might not have gotten it.
18 out of 21. That was fun!
@Antraxx777 it's called an opinion. Also you can tag multiple users in a single post btw. Instead of spamming comments .👍🏽
14 out of 21. I haven't really been a Zelda games fan since Wind Waker and I didn't even finish that game.
Very easy, got them all right because l know my Zelda games.
I got sixteen out of twenty-one.
18 out of 21-Hyper Link
17/21. The Windwaker and its cronies (the DS ones) tripped me up lol
I only got 3 right who is this little green lad??
21/21... not too bad!
All correct, of course.
Buncha boomers
I got 17/21. The ones I was incorrect on were Spirit Tracks, Wind Waker, Wind Waker HD, and the Minish Cap.
21/21 Yeah! I couldn't do less.
18/21 Oracle gameeeeeees
@tzahn You made Metroid curl up in a ball and crawl in a corner.
