Re: EA Worker Pay Continues To Dwindle As CEO Picks Up $5 Million Bonus, Thus Creating Amusingly Tall Financial Graph

@BoomingEchoes I had the opportunity to go the home of a CEO of a major corporation in Japan for dinner before and it was a bit surprising. It was just a middle-class home. He bought the home probably in his early 30s and just stayed there. That would be unthinkable in the US. But things work differently in Japan, and you have to view everything through a different lens. Though those in IT like Masayoshi Son tend to be more like the type of CEO you'd see in the US.

Re: Forget The PS4, Koei Tecmo Reckons Switch 2 Is Closer To Xbox Series S

roboshort

@Strumpan @JokerCK He said the Series S, not the PS5.

Even just in terms of the raw numbers, it is much more powerful than the PS4, and close to the PS4 Pro.
But that doesn't take into account being able to use DLSS and having better hardware, which gives it an even greater edge and puts it closer to the Series S, and above the PS4 Pro.

Re: Opinion: Upgraded For Switch 2, ARMS Deserves A Second Shot At Greatness

roboshort

ARMS was great. But I think to really get big as a fighting game these days it needed more frills. The core experience was really solid. Also, it was not as addictive as Splatoon so that maybe hurt it. I hope Nintendo gets back to developing new IPs.

I feel like between 2015 and 2019 Nintendo was doing more innovative stuff than now.

Re: Nintendo Switch 2 Final Tech Specs Have Been Confirmed

roboshort

@skycargav2000 In terms of raw specs it looks comparable to the PS4 Pro but its architecture is more modern which improves its efficiency and use of those TFlops. Also, it supports DLSS which also helps it do a lot more with less.

So it looks actually better than the PS4 Pro.

It looks like Digital Foundry was way off in their original assessments. But that was obvious from the reveal even though they didn't want to admit it.

Re: Nintendo Of America President Says Tariffs "Not Factored" Into Switch 2 Price

@ChakraStomps I don't see good evidence that building up manufacturing is an ends. It could be a means, though.

The main pattern I've seen throughout the last couple months has been subordination. Subordinating congress. Subordinating the bureaucracies. Now targeting the press and lawyers.

The tariffs provide Trump with another tool for subordination. Through them, it seems he aims to subordinate foreign nations, domestic corporations and possibly states.

It all looks like a self-coup (authoritarian takeover).

Re: Nintendo Of America President Says Tariffs "Not Factored" Into Switch 2 Price

@Uncle_Franklin Negotiations are the aim. Trump wants to subordinate the allies and kill the current economic order of free or nearly free trade. That is from Oren Cass. It’s likely to fail because no country is going to trust the US and he’s started economic warfare on all countries around the world at once. But the premise is bs anyhow. The US has not been ripped off.

Re: Video: Let's Compare Xenoblade Chronicles X On Wii U And Switch

@roy130390 There are lots of sidequests. In fact, most of tge story is in the sidequests. That might be the best way for you to explore cause it gives you a purpose. It’s also cool because the city evolves as you go through them. I personally loved free roaming and seeing the landscapes but if you want a lot of towns and villages there isn’t a lot to see from what i recall other than some Nopon and enemy outposts.

Re: Random: Hideki Kamiya Would Rather You Not Play Okami On The Wii

roboshort

@Lord There were other games the motion controls enhanced like Call of Duty. The motion controls actually made sense for Okami, but were not implemented well enough. The team likely did not have the technical expertise to implement them properly. Now it would be easier, though, since computer vision has advanced considerably in the past 20 years.

Re: Reaction: Nintendo Pins Hopes On Familiar Fun With Switch 2

Was the 3DS a stopgap generation? To me it seems like Nintendo learned their lesson. Like with the WiiU, they tried to innovate too much as well as have a Wii and ended up with something complex and expensive without a clear vision, and that hurt them badly. They can innovate with their accessories.
