@Nalverus Nah.. Mega Man was especially bad. I initially didn’t play the game cause the box art was so bad. Then my friend rented it and was really surprised it was a good game.
@LUIGITORNADO Did you check how many exclusives are coming in the next 4 months? Like it’s the most in the final four months since the Switch came to life.
@Duncanballs I think it's a really niche game anywhere you go. I would be interested in seeing what the reaction would be if it was a big budget AAA game, rather than a BBB game as Suda put it.
@RushDawg Splatoon 2 already was a huge success just being on the Switch though... Like it has sold well over 10 million copies. It is also a major system seller in Japan, which makes it much more valuable as an exclusive.
Platinum cannot discuss Bayonetta 3 because they don't own the game. People imagine all kinds of scenarios. But by far the most likely scenario is it just hasn't completed development yet. Games take years to make.
@BloodNinja If you want to compare software, yeah, that’s all there is to compare. But comparing software is prone to a lot of error because the engineering has a huge effect on performance. That’s why it’s better to compare hardware specs..
Also, it appears this title performs considerably better on the Switch. I haven’t really looked into comparisons of other Switch software and XBox360/PS3 so I don’t know too much about it
This review doesn't give me much of a glimpse as to what the game is about.
If you don't like the game that's one thing, but I'll watch a review from a random YouTuber if I want something trying to be cute and overly dramatic with little substance.
Is it really confirmed that this is legal? The writer seems pretty confident about that. But it seems fishy to me.
It's not legal to translate a work of fiction into another language without permission from the copyright holder. I imagine this would be covered by such laws.
@MarioBrickLayer I think so. And Usually Nintendo covers only unannounced titles in Indie World. Still people expect them to talk about games already announced every time they have one.
Nintendo has a huge amount of extra money now so they need to be investing more in riskier projects and/or new properties. If they are too conservative, they'll end up hurting themselves in the long run.
@noobish_hat Nintendo will get a better idea of what’ll succeed. So far FE Heroes, Dragalia Lost and Pocket Camp have done well aside from Pokémon. Nintendo will probably focus more on sims, RPGs and AR, if they continue.
@Themagusx1 The review just came off like a review from a high schooler to me rather than a professional so I couldn't even make it far into the review.
The problem with IGN, I think, is they heavily rely on freelancers because they have to review so many games. Nintendo Life does too somewhat, but Nintendo Life's core team is quite good, I think.
My only beef with Nintendo Life is that they need to spread out the scoring more. I think they give out too many 8s.. They should give out more 7s and 6s. And bad games should be below 5.
@Rika_Yoshitake I tried to listen to the IGN reviewer and had to quit after a minute so I didn't know they gave it 7/10. The quality of review was just so much worse than Zion's.
@Clyde_Radcliffe That's only a few titles that had control problems.. The problem is most likely partly you, though. It takes time to get used to a new control scheme. If you give someone who never has played video games a game controller, they will struggle with the controls, even for relatively simple games control schemes like Super Mario World.
The other part of the problem is that motion controls are much harder to program and I don't think Nintendo has the human resources to really take on that task to make impeccable motion controls.
In the case of Star Fox.. they should have scrapped the idea early on. It should have been apparent in the early stages of development that that control scheme was overly complex. But I think they made an error of judgment in thinking that they needed to innovate with using the gamepad to justify its existence.
@Caryslan Yeah. I know not being able to put games on it from Square/Enix, Capcom and Konami/Hudson is a big blow but there are other developers like SNK, Irem, Tecmo made quality titles for the NES and do not seem to be interested in releasing their games as packages like those other three developers. I imagine Konami has a lot of titles from both theirs and Hudson's library that they will never rerelease like Faxanadu so I hope Nintendo finds a way to bring them to the online service. Capcom is probably a bit tougher cause they made so many licensed games which would be hard to release on the service.
Also, Nintendo does have other first party games they can release besides what you mentioned like RC Pro Am. And also quite a few that were only available in Japan like Devil World, Famicom Wars or Murasame Castle, though RPGs like Ginga no Sannin may cost too much money to localize.
In the case of the SNES, I think there is a huge number of titles they could release.
@SmaggTheSmug Yeah. There are some like that and some licensed titles. But there are great titles that those three companies won’t bring back because they don’t have a large enough cult following, games made by other companies like SNK or Tecmo or even good games made by Nintendo still unavailable.
Is Nintendo even trying? There are so many classics for the NES/SNES that haven’t been released yet to NSO but they are putting out a lot of mediocre to bad titles for it.
@zool You may feel that they don't put games as the top priority, but the data doesn't support your feelings unless you think Nintendo should be releasing two first party titles a month rather than a number closer to 1.5 per month.
Not to mention, I imagine Nintendo paid to get Monster Hunter Stories 2 and Rise on the Switch as console exclusives as well.
@MasterJay It doesn’t say. But dollar sales is a stupid metric that Nintendo haters started citing to make it appear like Nintendo is not doing as well. What matters is units sold and profit.
@The_New_Butler Hmm. Okay. Maybe I didn’t read carefully enough. I hope it gives Nintendo some competition, though, cause they always seem to do best when they have competitors.
@Crono1973 This is a handheld (no dock/detachable controllers) so it should be compared more to the Switch Lite. Which this is 2x the price of the Lite. I am considering getting it though.
I am hoping this will put pressure on Nintendo to bump up the compute for the next system.
@MrGlubGlub Yeah. It doesn't consider distribution, how much the retailer pays for it, R&D, assembly (perhaps?).
Also, by the logic that it should just a little more than the components, all digitally transferred games should be free since the component manufacturing cost is 0.
@Rob3008 Unlike games like Skyrim, Skyward Sword's mechanics have not been built upon too much in the last 10 years since gaming went away from motion controls. So it should do fine in terms of reviews as long as the improvements are good enough. Also, its innovations should not be overlooked even if it has aged.
I'd expect it to get around a 90 Metacritic score.
@fox_mattcloud Nah… They wouldn’t be dominating. Especially the XBox. That would still be dominated by the Switch. It would be competitive with the PS5
@HeadPirate It would depend on the code. The thing is the XB port to the Switch contained major upgrades to assets and other QOL improvements and an expansion. If the code is well written and modular it won’t matter too much if they used tricks on the WiiU.
Here’s what we know. Most first party WiiU games have been ported to the Switch. XBC2 uses an upgraded version of the engine used for XBX. Most major first party titles from the WiiU have been ported to the Switch. They’d likely get a much better ROI in it than developing a new title
I don’t give much weight to what developers say because they will hide such info out of the interest of the company.
I dunno though. We may not see it. But that’d be a surprise to me. I guess we’ll find out sometime
@HeadPirate It selling fewer than 1 million is even more reason to port it. The port would likely sell somewhere between 1 and 1.5 million copies which would help them a lot with investing in future projects.
The biggest difficulty with porting X would be how to handle the gamepad functionality and adding in the much needed QoL improvements. But it would still be cheaper to port than Xenoblade Chronicles 1. The ROI of porting a WiiU/Wii 1st party game can be huge. Looking at the impact of porting Xenoblade Chronicles 1 will show that.
@tourjeff I imagine the processing power will be upgraded in some way. Nintendo doesn’t usually share such details, i think. If it isn’t upgraded, I probably won’t get this.
@LXP8 Personally I like both styles and can understand if BOTW is not one of your favorites. I’d say there is a difference between adventure and exploration though.
Adventure is more event focused and about overcoming trials/challenges placed in front of you as you press forward. Exploration is more focused on discovery and understanding.
In terms of exploration, there may not be a better game than BOTW as you have to really gain a deep understanding of the underlying mechanics of the world to get the most out of it. There is a lot more to do than find the next korok seed. But it doesn’t do adventure as well as many other Zelda titles.
Maybe Nintendo will include more of what fans of older Zeldas enjoy in the next game.
@LXP8 Breath of the Wild is an exploration game. The degree of exploration had greatly declined since the first Zelda and BOTW was a return to its roots.

I think Star Fox should be dialed back but they should also innovate in more interesting ways. There is so much inspiration that can be taken from space that I don’t think it should be hard to innovate.
@Yosher From this review, it sounds like the foundation in Mario Golf is not good because the main gimmick, "rushing", just didn't work out. It looks like they probably don't understand what makes golfing fun, which is the environments and the feeling of hitting the ball well. Camelot should have focused on providing innovation in those two areas making interesting terrains/environmental effects which would require skill in hitting the ball well.
Splatoon started out with a great foundation so each update was exciting. Aces started out with a decent foundation and became a good game eventually.
@Yosher Splatoon wasn't really a "release now, fix later" type situation. It was a release now, expand later. The initial version was really good and had a solid foundation, just needed to be bolstered by more content.
This is more along the lines of Camelot's previous release, Mario Tennis Aces, which was "release now, fix later".
@Jamie_R Yeah especially with The World Ends With You 2 and Monster Hunter Stories 2 coming up and SMT5 also coming this year A remake like with Trials would have been preferable
@Otoemetry It could be transferred but the experience will suffer. I played the Witcher 3 after Xenoblade X and the experience was considerably worse not having the gamepad. Don’t get me wrong though, I do hope they port it and fix some of the issues with it.
@ShiLilith I imagine Nintendo wants to release Skyward Sword HD first before announcing them. And I think they probably wouldn't announce both of them at the same time. Last year Nintendo announced Mario All Stars a really short time before it released so there is still time.

Bayonetta 3 is on the list so.. yeah the list is most likely fake. It's not even really a 3rd party title.

Ports of software programmed for very different hardware are not always the best way to judge.

Re: Feature: 30 Hours Into The Game With A Higher Metascore Than Zelda: Breath Of The Wild
@LXP8 Breath of the Wild is an exploration game. The degree of exploration had greatly declined since the first Zelda and BOTW was a return to its roots.
If you have the type of personality that doesn't like exploration, though, you will probably not enjoy it as much as more structured games. This is not a problem with BOTW, though. It is just your personal preference.
I do think they will continue to make old style Zelda games, but they'll probably reserve that style for the top-down view entries.
