It's a fun game. Decent gameplay, good writing, it's neat! And the Bros. Attacks being items didn't really bother me that much. It's more weird than anything.
My biggest gripe with the game is that the time travel doesn't serve any real narrative purpose. The shroobs have nothing to do with the time traveling itself. It's feels like just a tool for setting up the babies and scenarios.
I do quite like the Japanese box art (it also shows in the Switch home menu), so that gets my vote.
As for the game itself, it's not the best. It plays and looks alright on Switch, but the stories feel weird and basic and the characters aren't quite as amusing or enjoyable compared to the other entries. Puzzles are okay IMO, but I've heard the 3DS version has some bad puzzles. This video explains things quite well (spoiler for this game and the other entries): https://youtu.be/0JXHHYssO5I?feature=shared
New World of Steam better be good. I'm getting it day one.
I wouldn't be surprised if we saw Metroid Prime 4, Kirby Air Riders, and something for Mario's 40th (personally, I think we'll at least hear about the Mario Movie sequel). There's also a good chance we'll see Tomodachi Life: Living the Dream and Rhythm Heaven Groove.
Want I really want to see is Professor Layton and the New World of Steam. If it's not coming this year (there's a good chance it won't, IMO), I'd like to know. It'd also be cool if we saw a Metroid Prime 2&3 Remastered there as well. It's been too long to not see this happen. Oh, and Mega Man would be nice.
After finishing Layton's Mystery Journey, I started Portal 2's single player campaign. I'm currently on Chapter 6 and I've got to say, what TTYD was to Paper Mario (n64), this game is to the original Portal. Bigger, more detailed environments, more characters (Wheatley is great), and more story events just add so much to the game. It's not that the gameplay, or even the puzzles themselves, are better per-say (they didn't need to be), it's just that they decided to make Portal a cinematic experience. I might finish it this weekend.
I really enjoyed my time with the playtest, so I'll probably check this out! As for the full game, I'm not sure if I'll want to wait for a discount Switch 2 edition, or just get a discount Switch 1 version.
Edit: I hope they'll add more than one Grand Prix for this, but probably not.
On Case 11 in Layton's Mystery Journey, probably the last or second to last case in this.... interesting game. I'll be starting a new job next week, so hopefully I can finish this game soon.
I've gained access to multiple cases in Layton's Mystery Journey. Currently on case 5, with it's really big spooky emphasis. Shout out to the other person playing this silly game.
Playing through Layton's Mystery Journey on Switch. While it's certainly an odd entry in the Layton series, I'm still enjoying it. Of course, I still have work and church this weekend, so it'll depend when I play.
While I still need to play the Donkey Kong County games and such, I would totally be down for this movie, given I liked the Mario Movie and for a majestic King K. Rool as the villain (give him a song like Return to Krocodile Isle). Just seems like a lot of fun.
I finally beat Brothership! It took me a while, but I did it. While it's not perfect, I definitely enjoyed my time. I plan on sharing my full thoughts at some point in the Brothership forum.
After that, I think I'm gonna start Layton's Mystery Journey Deluxe. It's on my "to-do" list this year for New World of Steam, and I just feel like playing it. Me and my brother have been sharing the Switch though, so I might need to find something to play on my 2ds as well. Definitely need to go back to Zelda Phantom Hourglass at some point. Of course, there's important stuff to do in my life, so I can't neglect anything.
Playing Brothership, and this game needs to stop. What I'd thought would be the final boss after a fight instead ended up opening another section of the game. Admittingly, while I do want to finish this game, I'm digging the surprisingly dark/deep vibe. So it's not all bad.
STILL working on Brothership. Back to Shipshape after stealing the engine part from Bowser's Castle , I should be close enough to the end. Good game, but I'm ready to finish it.
Not much after that! Happy weekend, and God bless!
After going back to Sonic Forces (yes, I replayed that absolute classic🙃), I restarted Brothership, like, a week ago. I'm in what appears to be the final sea, so I should be nearing the end! About time, too. I started this game on Christmas.
Outside of that, not much else. Just Church and work. Happy weekend, everyone! God bless.
Before the Switch 2 (which I'm not getting yet), I went back to Sonic Forces, my first Switch game. Nearly finished with the main story, and while I'd like to 100% it for old times sake, I don't think I'm going to. Instead, I'll probably just be playing a little more Portal.
I'm probably not going to start a new game, or really get back into anything else, till after next week. I'm going to be really busy with what my church is doing. We've got services, teaching sessions, block parties, and a big tent revival going on. It's gonna be big, and God's going to do great things.
Before Switch 2, I decided to go back to the very first Switch game I played. Sonic Forces. Halfway through and, yeah,... it's Sonic Forces. Ask Alex, he would know😉.
Might 100% it (again), but I'm not sure if I got it in me to do it. We'll see. Might play a little Portal if I want to. All when I have time, of course.
Might try to watch a movie sometime soon. I just bought a blu-ray copy of Big Hero 6, haven't seen that in a while.
@Zeldinion you make a good point. It's hard to say that people should remove politics in media because everything (in a story at least) is based on one's viewpoint on life, thus being technically political. The discussion about WHAT politics are discussed is what leads to arguments.
I've been playing Portal this week. Finished all of the Still Alive maps. Right now, I'm going through the main game again, getting some of the miscellaneous achievements.
I beat 20XX over the last weekend, fun game! Worth your time if you're a Mega Man fan.
This week, I finally got Portal: Companion Collection on sale, getting a bonus discount with the rest of my gold points. And then I finished the first one the day after. These games are addicting! I'm probably going to go through the bonus maps at least, maybe get all achievements? Don't know, we'll see.
Happy Easter, and God bless!
EDIT: Huh? Brothership? ...oh, right. Uhhhh, I'll get back to it, I swear.
Brothership has taken a backseat, and I'm playing 20XX when I can. Really enjoying it! It's definitely a game I needed, and I should be able to go through a full run soon.
Not much outside of that, maybe a little Team Kirby Clash Deluxe for some gem apples.
This is.... a little underwhelming. That, and the prices for physical are going way up? This is kinda sad. I can live with it, but there's still the principle of the matter.
But, regardless of how this turns out, life will go on. There more to my life than just games.
This was my Birthday week (today's my Birthday), and I've had fun shopping and whatnot. One of my best friends came over, and we ended up playing the Portal 2 co-op campaign on his ps3. We stayed up till 4:30am playing it, finished it in the afternoon. Great time.
When I can, I'll be doing more Brothership, a little Team Kirby Clash Deluxe, and 20XX. First time playing 20XX, and as a Mega Man fan, I enjoying it so far.
Believe it or not, the Switch 2 enhanced game I want to see happen most is actually Sonic Frontiers. I'd love a good, portable version of that game that isn't on Steam Deck.
But Nintendo wise... Kirby and the Forgotten Land. 60fps and an graphical upscaling would be great.
I'm expecting Metroid Prime goodness (4, 2&3 Remastered), the rumored Robobot remaster, and loads of 3rd-party support.
What I'd like is to see Layton again, and a Mega Man Legends collection. On my bingo card, I always have a slot for The Murder of Sonic the Hedgehog since I don't have Steam. Unlikely, but April's Fools is coming up, soooo...
Lastly, with Prime 4 coming out, it'd be kinda nice to see Prime Hunters and Federation Force. Probably not, but those game are kinda important to Sylux as a character. That, and I want to see Hunter acknowledged, and I still need to play (and get) Federation Force. We'll see.
P.S. If Prime 2&3 aren't remastered, I'm gonna be a little disappointed. I have Prime Trilogy, and I'm intending on playing Prime 3 on there, but still.
Hoping to see Metroid Prime 4, Prime 2&3 Remastered, and I REALLY need to see Layton again, pleeeeeeease (although, if any game's gonna use the Switch 2 mouse mode, it'd be this one. Still a Switch 1 game tho). We're also probably gonna see the Robobot remaster there, with several third-parties (Sonic Racing maybe?), etc.
The thing I'd love to see that may-or-may not be there? A Mega Man Legends collection. I'd lose it for that.
Mega Man 2.... that fact that such a great game was made that short is a testimony to the game team. That game made me love Mega Man, and it's not only my favorite in the series, but one of my top 10 favorite games as well. Good job team, good job.
I know how you feel, Craig! Brothership's taking me a while too, and I got that game for Christmas! Just got past the third lighthouse, and am on the first island in that sea. I'm enjoying my time, but I'd like to play something else. Maybe I'll bite the bullet soon and start (or return to) something on the side. Maybe.
More Brothership for me when I can. Still on the Brrrrning Sea, on Slipperglide(?) Island. MAYBE I should have tried to help Chilliam first, but I love the snow (shame we might not get anymore where I'm at, but it's early Match, so who can say?). Still really enjoying my time with the game.
I tried playing Armoured Core: Last Raven on my ps2 last/this week, but it turns out this game apparently cheats, so it might not be the best introduction to the Armoured Core series. Oh well, still need a ps3 for the original ps1 game and my copy of For Answer.
A friend of mine told me Capcom doesn't really re-release Monster Hunters, with a few exceptions (the Ultimate versions of 3/Generations, Stories). He believes Capcom's more likely to just make a smaller-scaled, limited time exclusive MH for Switch 2, given there's apparently a smaller MH team for this stuff.
Still working on M&L Brothership, currently on the Brrrning Sea. Not much outside of that. Although, I actually picked up a copy of Armoured Core Last Raven for ps2 at a good deal. Tried it last night, and, well, I clearly don't get early mech games 😅. Maybe I just need some time.
Happy birthday HAL! Thanks for giving us the pink pufball and Smash. Kirby's Adventure might honestly be one of my favorite games, and Smash Brawl is my all-time favorite!
Still got lots of Kirby games to play (4 on my Wii U), and I should get Part-time UFO one day.
I feel like remake/remasters are the way to go. Realistically, I'd like to see Samus Returns. Unrealistically, Rusty's Real Deal Baseball (or sequel), Dillon trilogy (with a better progressive system for the first one), and, of course, the best 3ds game, Mega Man Legends 3🙃
Not sure how much time I'll have to play, between work and church. But when I can, I'm on the 2nd great lighthouse on M&L Brothership.
Honestly, I kinda feel like I need to get into a little something else gaming wise, maybe a different, simpler and shorter game? I dunno, maybe the daily grind's getting to me.
That, and I think Afterlove EP has done something to me, and I don't even have it. Love the look and emotion of the game, but honestly don't think it's something for me.
I've only played a bit of the original, if even that. I got the remake in 2020 from my older brother as a birthday gift (back when they were still selling 3ds games at Target and such, man I feel old). Played it casually on my 2ds (love that thing) and finished it around a year later. It's not only my favorite 3ds game, but one of my top ten games ever. So good.

Noooooooo! I need to see more Layton! sigh Fine, I'll wait more. Hopefully it means that the game will feature a mouse mode. That'd be great.
Also, Fast Fusion! Played a good chuck of Fast Racing NEO on Wii U, great time. Maybe I'll pick this one up. Should probably play Fast RMX, too.

Layton and the New World of Steam plz. Although I have a feeling Level-5 going to want to get in on that mouse mode for Switch 2.
Oh, and Prime 2&3 Remastered. But I should keep expectations in check about this, and the Switch 1 Direct as well.

I got the remake in 2020 from my older brother as a birthday gift (back when they were still selling 3ds games at Target and such, man I feel old). Played it casually on my 2ds (love that thing) and finished it around a year later. It's not only my favorite 3ds game, but one of my top ten games ever. So good.
So, yeah, 3ds remake for me. Thanks bro.
