Re: Talking Point: What Are You Playing This Weekend? (1st February)

konicstar

Okay, so in Monster Hunter Rise, I hunted Thunder Serpent Narwa, really fun, creative boss, so now it seems like I need to grind quests until I reach hr 50 to fight the true final boss. I... might need to take a step back with Rise, and do a little more Brothership, or even boot up Phantom Hourglass again (which I 100% intend on doing this year, I'm determined to finish this game for some reason). Still want to continue to some degree, but I might need a little break. We'll see

Happy weekend!

Re: Poll: With No Switch 2 News Until April, Is A February Nintendo Direct On The Cards?

konicstar

I could see Nintendo doing a direct. Metroid Prime 4 (as well as 2 and 3), Kirby Planet Robobot (or something else), a gamecube remaster (Chibi-robo or F-zero GX), third-party support (stuff from Capcom, Level-5, etc.), and a smaller game surprise (new Rhythm Heaven, Chibi-robo, etc.). If nothing else, a direct mini or at least a partner showcase. The next Indie World might still happen in March or something.

Re: Talking Point: What Are You Playing This Weekend? (11th January)

konicstar

This weekend I'll be playing more Monster Hunter Rise. About to start 6 stars high rank hub quests. I also have Mario and Luigi Brothership to play.

Next week, I think I'll be taking a break from gaming and entertainment. So if the Switch 2 is announced or we have a direct, I probably won't be there for the initial hype.

Happy weekend!

Re: Talking Point: What Are You Playing This Weekend? (New Year Edition)

konicstar

I've also unlocked high rank in Monster Hunter Rise this week, and I still want to play more. However, I got Mario and Luigi Brothership for Christmas, so I'll probably be playing that when I can!

Next week, I'll be going to a Youth conference, so hopefully I'll do some good shopping then! Happy Holidays, and Happy New Year! It's gonna be a big one, I can feel it.

Re: Talking Point: What Are You Playing This Weekend? (Christmas 2024 Edition)

konicstar

Although I should be playing more Phantom Hourglass, this weekend will probably be more Monster Hunter Rise for me when I can play. It's just really fun. Other than that, it's mostly just errands and other things before the holidays. Honestly, I'm pretty excited for Christmas! Looking forward to a good day off at least.

Happy weekend, and happy holidays! Pray that I get a ps3 slim and/or Oneshot World Machine Edition (Collectors Edition) on Switch. God bless.

Re: Feature: Nintendo Switch Year In Review 2024 - Our Most Played Games

konicstar

1. Pikmin 4: 46 hours. Man, 100%ing that game is long. Really fun and casual, tho, so I don't mind too much (some of the mission completing was a little annoying).

2. Mario RPG: 22 hours. The Godfather of Mario RPGs, surprised I actually got around to playing this one. Really good.

3. Kirby and the Forgotten Land: 17 hours: Incredible game, might actually be my second favorite game I played this year (or TTYD, Oneshot World Machine Edition is number one). Still would like to 100%, but this game was a casual playthrough, so not sure when or if I'll get to it.

Re: Talking Point: What Are You Playing This Weekend? (14th December)

konicstar

Okay, so this week I was on a Monster Hunter kick, so I booted up my old Monster Hunter Rise save data. And after 6-7 hours of playing, I actually beat the game! It's amazing, actually, despite being filled with lots of deep and complex mechanics, the game is completely accessible to people who want to play the game with the basic armors, weapons, etc, without fancy effects. Great game.

Now with that said, I'll either be playing more Rise and hunt more monsters, or go back to my playthrough of Zelda Phantom Hourglass (need to go back to the Temple of the Ocean King to find the other 2 sea charts). Maybe a bit of both? Anyway, happy weekend everyone!

P.S. figured there was going to be a proper (console) Sonic spin-off for the next major 2025 Sonic release (Sonic Racing CrossWorlds). Hope it's good! TSR was really fun, but it was considered a little underwhelming.

Re: Poll: It's Almost Time For The Game Awards, But Are You Expecting Much Switch News?

konicstar

Metroid Prime 4 and/or Prime 2 and 3 Remastered would be so perfect given the rumors of the 2018 all those years ago. But, you can never really tell or know.

I don't follow the show too much. There might be a thing or two for me in there. Something Sonic or Mega Man (not happening) or even the old Transformers games at this point.

In the end, I feel like this Games Awards has the potential to be either surprisely good given that I think 2025 will be a big year to some degree, or absolutely terrible given the current state of the game industry. It might be interesting to see either way.

Re: Talking Point: What Are You Playing This Weekend? (7th December)

konicstar

Shoot, late to the topic, anyway...

My main game right now is Zelda Phantom Hourglass. I don't think I've ever seen a DS game use it's accessories so much. It's fun, if maybe a little simple so far. Also still on Team Kirby Clash Deluxe. Kinda burnt out on Shadow Generations, and Kirby and the Forgotten Land was a casual playthrough, so maybe 100%ing will come later. Have a good weekend!

Re: Rate Your Favourite Switch Games Of The Year 2024

konicstar

Last year's 2023 GOTY for me was Gravity Circuit, a really fun Mega Man (Zero) clone. My actually favorite game I played that year was Pikmin 2 through Wii U Virtual Console.

My 2024 GOTY will probably end up being Sonic x Shadow Generations, though I played it on Series S. Not only does it have a good version of one of the best, cleanest Sonic games, it came with a great new game/expansion. Might be better than Sonic Frontiers (my 2022 GOTY), tho I'm still wanting to say I like that game more as a whole personally. Definitely liked it better than Superstars (which was still a fine game). Gave it a 8 for switch cause of weaker performance, but I might give it a 9 otherwise.

...Buuuut, my favorite game I've played this year will most certainly be Oneshot World Machine Edition on Switch. One of the most, if not, THE most incredible game experience I've ever had. Like, I'm pretty sure that game made me lose my appetite for a week. That's how incredible and surreal the game was (and I've played Majora's Mask). Definitely in my top 10 or 5 favorite games ever.

Will say more about my other 2024 favorites and others at some point later in the year or at the beginning of the next.

Whew! Busy week! Hope everyone had a good Thanksgiving and Black Friday. I was able to have dinner with my Mom's side on Monday, had a nice day off and dinner with my intermediate family on Thursday, and I snagged a few things yesterday.

When I can, I'll probably be playing Team Kirby Clash Deluxe, Kirby and the Forgotten Land, and Shadow Generations. Just beat Forgotten Land this week, so it's extra stuff and post-game for me, and I STILL need to 100% Shadow Generations (although I'm kinda burnt-out at this point). I also got Zelda Phantom Hourglass and Hey! Pikmin yesterday, and I might start them soon. Have a good weekend!

Re: Mailbox: The Death Of GameCube, Mario Party Matchmaking, Tariffs - Nintendo Life Letters

konicstar

@Scottdevine53 A Sonic Adventure remake/remaster (if done right) would be great, a 06 port for laughs would be fine, Heroes NEEDS a good remake (it's my least favorite Sonic game), and a Unleashed remaster similar to SxSG would be fine, BUT the original voice cast and acting is fine. Don't remove the original acting, it would be really disrespectful to Jason Griffith. Perfectly fine Sonic and Shadow that went through too many bad Sonic games.

@Anti-Matter I love you man. Glad you like those smaller games.

@Richardthedragon The original SA had it's moments, didn't it? A little flawed by today's standards, but it can be fun. Need to replay one day.

@CaleBoi25 If I had to pick one... Mega Man Legends 3 would be great. To end the Legends sub-series, at least. I wouldn't want Mega Man as a whole to end (if anyone makes a comment on how Mega Man's already dead, I'll teleport to your house, destroy you, then steal your power). Edit: oh, only a Nintendo series. Well in that case... don't know. All I know is that we need Legends 3.

Re: Talking Point: What Are You Playing This Weekend? (23rd November)

konicstar

This has been a real meaty week. Lots has happened, out there and personally. But never mind that. This weekend, when and if I can, I'll be playing my chunk of Team Kirby Clash Deluxe, Sonic x Shadow Generations, and Kirby and the Forgotten Land. Every time I boot up Forgotten Land, I'm just reminding how amazing this game is.

Next week will be a big one. Have a good weekend, and happy Thanksgiving!

Re: Talking Point: What Are You Playing This Weekend? (16th November)

konicstar

Beat Shadow Generations on Sunday, and Partners in Time on Wednesday.

Shadow Generations was a very nice, fun Sonic game. Maybe not the craziest, most exciting experience, but a nice one.

Partners in Time was also fun, and honestly the oddest Mario and Luigi experience. Still good, tho. And with that done, I've beaten ALL the Mario RPGs (excluding the M&L and TTYD remakes and the original Mario RPG) pre-Brothership. Still going to wait another minute before I play it, but now I'm ready! Hope I like it.

This weekend, when I can, I'll be working on 100%ing Shadow Generations (which is surprisingly meaty) and playing bits on Team Kirby Clash Deluxe (as usual). Maybe, just maybe, I'll boot up Kirby and the Forgotten Land, but it's honestly unlikely. We'll see.

Happy weekend!

Re: Anniversary: 20 Years On, Metroid Prime 2 Represents The Franchise At Its Experimental Best

konicstar

Played MP2 on Prime Trilogy with my Wii U last year. Really good game. Almost made number 5 on my top 5 favorite games I played that year (got beat by Gravity Circuit, the Megaman in me demanded it). It better get remastered, probably will double-dip soon-ish if/when it does.

The first 30 seconds of the title theme is one of the hardest bangers I've ever heard in gaming. https://youtu.be/s6N0A1U_ZhE?feature=shared

Edit: also, I swear whoever worked on this soundtrack worked on Smash Brawl. https://youtu.be/tP9kmLq8Y80?feature=shared

Re: Feature: Sonic Boom At 10 - The Good, Bad & Ugly Of Sonic The Hedgehog’s Brief, Nintendo-Exclusive Sub-Franchise

konicstar

You forgot to talk about the short-lived Archie comics, those were seriously funny. The show is honestly my favorite Sonic show. "Don’t Judge Me" is my favorite episode. As for the games, Rise of Lyric isn't really that bad gameplay wise (the update certainly helped that), but it's still technically weak. Shattered Crystal is pretty meh, had some good ideas, but not very great. Fire and Ice is honestly the most "fine" Sonic game ever. Pretty good, but not really worth recommending.

Re: Talking Point: What Are You Playing This Weekend? (9th November)

konicstar

Still on Shadow Generations, near the end of the main campaign. Still going for 100%, tho. A little Team Kirby Clash Deluxe, as usual. And I'm still working on Partners in Time (forgot to put that in the poll, whoops!). Need to beat that before Brothership. Have a good weekend!

Edit: forgot to say how nice it is that Switch 2 will be backwards compatible! Hope that also means enhancements too! Plz Sonic Frontiers, plz Sonic Frontiers, plz Sonic Frontiers.

Re: Talking Point: What Are You Playing This Weekend? (2nd November)

Wow. This week has been... crazy. First, Nintendo announces Xenoblade X out of the blue like it's 2020. Then, on the same day, Sony announced they're canceling Concord and axeing the team with something else. And then, Nintendo Music happened. Just... wow.

This weekend, when I can, I'll be playing Sonic x Shadow Generations on Series S. Beat Sonic Generations, still a great game, and started Shadow Generations, which is... pretty good, actually. Can't wait to 100%. Also will probably play more Partners in Time and Team Kirby Clash Deluxe. Man, Mario and Luigi Brothership is next week, but I don't think I'll be playing that until Black Friday. We'll see. Have a good weekend!

P.S. Ethan Zack, if you're seeing this, play Sonic Mania! That game's great and pretty easy to get into.

Re: Random: 'Nintendo Music' Has Fans Reminiscing About Smash Ultimate's Grooviest Feature

konicstar

I love video game soundtrack players in the game, especially on Switch (ds and 3ds too)! I've used that type of thing for car rides and casual listening many times, and Smash Ultimate is a good one. I even have a whole group about it on my Switch. I've used the D.A. Garden in Sonic Mania and the soundtrack players in the Mega Man Legacy Collection (especially X and Zero/ZX) a lot.

Personally, I think the ability to listen to the game OST is a feature every game should have. Even when the soundtrack isn't that great, it's nice to go through a soundtrack to appreciate it and find some really good tracks.

Re: Talking Point: What Are You Playing This Weekend? (26th October)

konicstar

Time will be limited, but when I can, I want to play Sonic x Shadow Generations on my Xbox Series S. Started Sonic Generations, it's fine so far. Runs and looks real nice. Will also play Partners in Time when I can and when the TV'S taken. Also, a little touch of Team Kirby Clash Deluxe for some gem apples and exp is probably in the plans.

In other areas, I watched Transformers One last night. And by that I mean I was up till 2 watching it. And... I think it hit something in me. Must've been "The Fall" scene. Anyhow, have a good weekend! God bless!

Re: Poll: Sonic X Shadow Generations Is Out This Week, Will You Be Getting It?

konicstar

I'll probably pre-order on Xbox digitally through my Series S before Friday. Want to play it, get my own opinion on it without too many reviews and other opinions (although I've gotten a tiny taste of them), and experience it in the finest form I can. Which is why I'm skipping switch this time. Probably won't be bad, but probably not the best way to play either.

Thing is, I want to play Shadow Generations ASAP, but it feels more proper to play it's version of Sonic Generations first, even tho I've already played Sonic Gens many times through 360. That game's been with me for many years, and is one of my favorite Sonic games. Hopefully this version will hold up.

Re: Talking Point: What Are You Playing This Weekend? (19th October)

konicstar

This week, I watched The Wild Robot. Pretty good, really good-looking film. I also watched a bunch of bits of Puss in Boots: The Last Wish that I didn't see the first time I watched it. Don't know if I would ENTIRELY recommend it... but I have to admit, it's pretty cool. Any scene with Death in it is awesome.

This weekend when I can, I got Partners in Time, a little Team Kirby Clash Deluxe, MAYBE Kirby and the Forgotten Land(?), and A Little to the Left on Game Pass.

Next week, I should be watching Transformers One on streaming, and I think I'll be getting Sonic x Shadow Generations on Xbox Series S. Have a good weekend!

THE THOUSAND YEAR DOOR!!!! THE THOUSAND YEAR DOOR IS REAL!!!!

...sorry, not an One Piece, but I had to say it.
Just wanted to say I beat the game last night! Really loved it! Chapter 6 is my favorite, and that's mostly because I actually took a 2 day train ride earlier this year. Will it be my favorite Paper Mario, or Mario rpg?... hard to say, I love Origami King, Inside Story, and Dream Team a lot.

Well, now I'm working on Kirby and the Forgotten Land, Partners in Time, a little Team Kirby Clash Deluxe, and MAYBE I'll do a little more TTYD. I also downloaded A Little to the Left on our Xbox Series S through game pass, might play a bit of that. With Brothership and Sonic x Shadow Generations coming soon, my gaming schedule is a little complicated. Have a good weekend!

Re: Talking Point: After A September No-Show, Will There Be An October Nintendo Direct?

konicstar

Nintendo is full of surprises, so I honestly think they COULD have a direct or something. Personally, I would love a Metroid direct where they would give us a gameplay presentation for Prime 4, reveals for Prime 2 and 3 remastered as well as something else like Samus Returns HD (Prime Hunters and Federation Force...plz?), and maybe something else. I mean, Prime 4 should be earlier 2025, right?

Re: Talking Point: What Are You Playing This Weekend? (5th October)

konicstar

This has been a pretty chill week, TBH. Maybe more exciting things will happen next week.

This weekend, when I can, I'll be playing TTYD. On Chapter 7, at the X-naut fortress, with a few braincells gone because of a certain Bob-omb. If the TV's taken, I'll either be on my 2ds with Partners in Time (which I need to beat before playing Brothership) or maybe Team Kirby Clash, or even on my Switch for Kirby and the Forgotten Land. Have a good weekend!

Edit: my brother's started playing Fossil Fighters: Champions for when he's not playing Fortnite and Rocket League on our Xbox Series S. I find that interesting.

Re: Talking Point: What Are You Playing This Weekend? (28th September)

konicstar

It's been a crazy week. Between Sonic Central, Level 5, work, it's been a lot. I don't have Zelda, but a friend of mine does, and he should be playing that to some degree.
Still on TTYD, around the end of chapter 6. Checking in Team Kirby Clash Deluxe every now and then. Actually started Partners in Time and finished the winter area in Kirby and the Forgotten Land, so I might play those a bit. Happy Weekend!

Re: Professor Layton And The New World Of Steam Trailer Shows Off 3D Gameplay

konicstar

Trailer looks really good, actually. Still tho, where's the release date? This whole presentation was filled with just release windows. What's making it like this? Switch 2, trying to do too much, actual care and development? Making people wait until 2026 for a new IP (Decapolice) sounds like too much.

Thankfully, I can wait for Layton. I got other things.
