Re: Feature: Does Super Smash Bros. Wii U's Smash Tour Live Up To Expectations?

jjmesa16

@rjejr Up to 8 if you have enough controllers. For me 2 people would have to use the Wii remotes (most likely me so that I'm handicapped) because I don't have enough of the other controllers.

As for Smash Tour it looks like only 4 people can play but I could be wrong.

As for the discussion up above. Smash is a multiplayer game. If you buy any of the games in the series soley for the single player experience then you will be disappointed. The only time I play Smash by myself is if I am training with certain characters or I need to unlock characters/moves. Otherwise I just pull it out to play with friends and family. However all of them are still some of my favorite Nintendo games.

IF YOU ONLY PLAY SINGLE PLAYER YOU PROBABLY SHOULD AVOID SUPER SMASH BROS!

Re: New Nintendo Direct Airing 5th November

jjmesa16

Its about time. I don't even remember when the last NA direct was (besides the 50 fact extravaganza). It'll be good to see Iwata back and in good health. Hopefully we hear about a release date/month for the New 3DS!

Re: "Pre-Download" Service to Kick Off With Super Smash Bros. for Wii U

jjmesa16

Great new feature but I'm still never going to download retail games for my Wii U until they have a better account system. Once that happens I'll be sure to use this feature.

@RedYoshi999 Me too! It took me 10 hours (from midnight) to download Pokemon X. By that time I could have gone to the store and bought a physical copy. Plus the music is messed up on my digital copy.

Re: Feature: Five 'New Things' We Want in Super Smash Bros. for Wii U

jjmesa16

@Ichiban Voice chat would be awesome! Nintendo could regulate it to friend battles that way they don't get an uproar from parents.

I have to say I'm into DLC as well. A dream of mine for this game is cross-platform online play. Say I was on a trip and I only had my 3DS. It would be cool if I could play against my friend, who is on his Wii U. Too bad Nintendo's software and infrastructure aren't built like that.

I really don't get why people want Ridley. Have you people played the past games? He was a boss in Brawl. Why would Nintendo ever make a boss (a giant boss if I may add) a playable character? The playable master hand was a cheat. That doesn't count.

Re: Nintendo 64x64: Pokemon Snap

jjmesa16

I can see the gyroscope/accelerometer being a cool control mechanism for a new pokemon snap game. Virtual reality would also be cool for the 3DS. Imagine going on a road trip and taking pictures of pokemon outside while in the car, or on a walk.

Re: Turns Out The GameCube Controller Adapter Won't Be Compatible With Other Wii U Software

jjmesa16

Very disappointing that Nintendo couldn't make the adapter work with other games. So it's $20 for the adapter, and you need the controllers which are $30 a piece, for only playing one game? You could spend up to $189.96 for Super Smash Bros. for Wii U (not counting any Amiibo). Nintendo is asking you, "How into Super Smash Bros. are you?" Doesn't sound like it worth it to me. I will be buying the $99 bundle though as I already have 3 Gamecube controllers.

Re: Now You Can Gawk at New Nintendo 3DS Demo Units and Packaging from Japan

jjmesa16

@ZenTurtle Thanks for your input. I originally had a 3DS for around 2 years and it was good. I believe that the screen looked better on the small one because of the pixel density. I bought the 3DS XL when it came out because of the size (obviously) which was better for longer durations of gaming. I just don't play as much as I used to and I think the small screens will suffice. Like I said before if Nintendo had upped the screen resolution of the new 3DS XL it would have been a must buy for me.

Re: Now You Can Gawk at New Nintendo 3DS Demo Units and Packaging from Japan

jjmesa16

@FrankieC6421 That sounds way worse than mine. Technically mine is not totally broken like yours. Mine is still playable but there is a huge black spot, probably liquid or dead pixels, that somewhat blocks the gameplay. It also has two big cracks inside the display. They are about the size and position of the face of Villager when he wins in Super Smash Bros. What happened is it was under the couch, I reclined the couch and it crushed the top screen.

Re: Now You Can Gawk at New Nintendo 3DS Demo Units and Packaging from Japan

jjmesa16

@FrankieC6421 Yeah it seems to be the consensus that the new 3DS is better than th XL so, I think that's what I'll end up getting. I've never had a customized/decal 3DS before so it would be cool to get something different for a change. I have owned my 3DS XL since it released and love the big screens but it's disappointing that they are same resolution of the small 3DS. Also the new 3DS has enlarged displays which should make it better for longer periods of gaming. I can't wait until they come out but unfortunately I have to get a 3DS XL now that way I can enjoy so smash. My current one is broken.

Re: Feature: A Week of Super Smash Bros. Wii U and 3DS Screens - Issue Fifty Three

jjmesa16

I've never played Xenoblade Chronicles but I voted for Shulk. I voted for the last picture because it's cool that you can change his stats when battling. Yould could do this in previous generations of SSB but now with forms being different characters you cannot. Even when you changed form you only had 2-3 sets of stats (pre-transformation and transformation as well as pokemon trainer) but with Shulk you have 5 sets of stats. Could be very useful in battle depending on how long it takes to change arts.

Re: Guide: New Nintendo 3DS - Everything We Know So Far

jjmesa16

I have to say I love the new 3DSs but the timing sucks. My 3DS XL broke 2 days ago and I want to get a new one but I want to wait until these come out, which could be in Q2 of next year in the states. This is awesome and horrible at the same time.

Edit: I am a bit disappointed that the screen resolution isn't higher. That's one thing I wish Nintendo would have improved in their next iteration of the 3DS. Also why is the Monster Hunter 4 edition almost $70 more than the regular version?

Re: Nintendo's Italian Twitter Feed Shows off a Super Smash Bros. Double Pack for Nintendo 3DS

jjmesa16

@Henmii I think they will have something like that but it'll only be 20% off or less. Nintendo knows that this is a huge game and they will take advantage of that as much as they can (for example, Earthbound). Unfortunately if there is a discount it will also be exclusive to the digital versions.

A realistic expectation for price for both the Wii U and 3DS version is around $80 (digital only).

Re: Talking Point: Mario Kart 8's Diverse DLC Sets Up Endless Potential for the Franchise

jjmesa16

@hopfolla Somebody has probably told you this but you meant 2015. May 2014 has already passed and I'm sad to say I haven't seen the Animal Crossing characters yet. lol

Yeah I'm pretty excited that new DLC is coming to Mario Kart and I figured it was going to happen because of Amiibo. Just as long as everything remains balanced (like the new Mercedes-Benz cars) I'm cool with Nintendo adding stuff to their games. Although I don't want Nintendo to feel like they can release unfinished games and add to it for a price later. I'm actually ok with the price of the new Mario Kart DLC as well. As much as I've played Mario Kart I think new characters, vehicles, and tracks are somewhat of a good value at $8 or $12 for both.

Also, I don't want them giving GameFreak any ideas. Paying to transfer Pokemon (although it was free when I did it) is bad enough. I don't want to have to buy Pokemon for my game.

Re: Video: Evolution And Biking Shown In Pokémon Omega Ruby & Alpha Sapphire

jjmesa16

@ColdingLight I'm not sure what you mean by compatible? I know you can transfer pokemon to alpha sapphire and omega ruby through pokemon bank.

I'm really liking what I see so far. The evolution animation is pretty cool (although pokemon usually evolve out of their pokeball. The bike hopping looks interesting. I am still disappointed that most of overworld wont be in 3D.

Re: Talking Point: The Wii U May be Best as One of Two Consoles, Just Like Wii

jjmesa16

I currently own a Wii U but I'd also like to own a PS3/PS4. Another console would be great for games that aren't on the Wii U such as Madden and Call of Duty: Advanced Warfare. However I'm not sure I'd use a PS3/PS4 more for gaming or movies. If the Wii U was able to play Blu-Ray movies it would probably be the only console I would buy/want.

Re: Poll: Which Is The Best Super Mario Platformer?

jjmesa16

Tough choice but I chose Super Mario Galaxy. Super Mario Galaxy is one of the most innovative games that Nintendo has ever created. The graphics were stunning, the controls were simple, and the gameplay was spectacular. It was also a commercial and critic success being one of the highest rated games of all time. It won Game of the Year in 2007 from IGN, GameSpot, Nintendo Power, GameTrailers, Edge, and Yahoo! Games. It also won Game of the Generation by Eurogamer and IGN.

Super Mario 64 and Super Mario Galaxy 2 were my runners up. I really enjoyed Super Mario 64 but I just thought that Galaxy was more innovative in terms of gameplay.

Top 5 Rankings
1. Super Mario Galaxy
2. Super Mario 64
3. Super Mario Galaxy 2
4. Super Mario World
5. Super Mario 3D World

Re: Talking Point: A Virtual Console Revival Could Be Just a Pricing Revolution Away

jjmesa16

Here is the main problem for me:

"Can I use a USB storage device formatted for a Wii U with another person's Wii U system?

No. External USB storage devices that are exclusively formatted for Wii U can only be used with the one system for which it is formatted. The only way to use your USB storage device on another Wii U is to reformat it.
Reformatting the device will erase all of its data and this data cannot be recovered."
http://www.nintendo.com/consumer/latam/en/systems/wiiu/system_external_storage.jsp?menu=general_info&submenu=wup-external-usb-storage

This is the main reason I avoid all downloadable games unless there is a great sale. If you could sign into your account on your friends Wii U and play multiple games that you have downloaded onto an external hard drive that would be great. I'm not sure why Nintendo hasn't done this yet. You already have to format the hard drive so that you can't use it with a computer and I don't think any files can be copied over to another Wii U. Whenever I go to a friends house I always have to take all of my games with me. If I just had a hard drive it would be easier to take and I would be less likely to forget it. Why lock down the hard drive to a specific Wii U?

Accounts are also a big problem but I've pretty much given up on Nintendo in regards to that.
