Nintendo has announced that a new retail pack containing both versions of Pokémon Omega Ruby & Alpha Sapphire will be available in North America on the game's release date, 21st November.
The dual pack will retail for a total of $79.98, and the RRP for a single copy is $39.99. It's an ideal solution for parents with two children who are both interested in the Pokémon series, especially with Christmas arriving so soon after release.
Not only do you get both versions of the game, but you'll also receive a download code that will grant both copies an additional 100 Potion items. It's not a huge incentive, but it's a nice addition to have nonetheless. Early on in the game having those additional items may well come in handy against the many trainers and wild Pokémon you'll face.
The dual pack will only be available at Best Buy stores, BestBuy.com and Amazon.com, and so far there is no word about a release outside the US. If we hear anything about a release in other territories, we'll let you know.
Will you be making the most of this offer, or will a single copy be enough to satiate your Pokémon hunger? Let us know in the comments section!

Wait, what? Where are the ten dollars? $79,98 is $39,99 x2...
Seems a bit strange that NA can get two copies + bonuses for $80 when retailers like Gamestop sell a single copy for almost $70 in EU.
If the combo is $79.98, you don't save any money. Is this a typo?
Um... I don't know where you're getting $10 from, but 39.99 times two is 79.98. This doesn't really save any money at all.
Someone needs to check their math...
This is really cool. I hate to be that guy though, but why aren't we getting the steel case editions like in Europe, Nintendo of America?

Yeah, I'm not see any saving, NintendoLife. Try the maths again.
Someone should tell Gamefreak that DLC is now a thing so they can cut this duel release nonsense. Theres more than one way to gouge your customers!
I'm confused.... How exactly do you save $10?
Math fail.
Nintendo bundles rarely offer any kind of discount from my experience. All the console and game bundles they do on the online store are at RRP.
Well it offers a discount in Canada. Since here both copies would be 44.99 each. Hence the $10 savings
Remember, potions can be sold.
This is great and all, but where's the preorder page?
Fellow readers, please join me in the class action lawsuit I'm filing against NintendoLife for getting us all revved up for some sweet savings and then deflating our collective balloon with bad maths.
Donkey Kong Jr Math is available in the Eshop.
It's a typo, the pack is priced at $79.97, not $79.98, so it's the same great deal as Bayonetta on eshop.
This is nice but I'm the lucky guy who's getting both versions limited edition 😎
@AlexOlney
You mean $69.98?
Along with what everyone else said, there is no savings if that grand total is accurate.
Turns out my maths is highly dubious when using a foreign currency! The article has been edited, but just to clarify for everyone:
The dual pack costs $79.98, a single copy costs $39.99, so that ten dollars saving was a mistake on my part.
Apologies, guys!
@HypocrisyNews
because we never get steel covers for anything really. These really ever only show in Europe (and Japan and some times Australia). if we do ever get them, it is in one store which in the Nintendo Store in New York.
Tax guys. Where I live $79.98 + tax would be $85.38 so, savings on that end could depend on the state you live in. In this 2-pack each game costs $37.47 + tax instead of $39.99 + tax, thus the total would actually be $74.94 + tax ($79.99) at least in North Carolina. So $79.99 vs $85.38.
That's a great idea for parents. (or even couples/friends who are both Pokémon fans)
@Tops @Pokefanmum82 Chances are it'll be sold to us as 89.98 unless someone screws up their math.
So are both physical copies going to be included? Or is it download codes for both copies?
@AlexOlney
39.99 x 2 = 79.98, regardless of currency.
Also, the article title still says "Money-Saving Dual Pack".
While I do like the idea of a duel pack but if there is no saving on buying the combo over 2 copies of the game then there is no need to get the duel pack.
If this came to eu and there was a saving (€10) then I have a friend that would jump at this deal.
100 potions isn't really an a good bonus buy getting the combo. If there was two 1 year free pokemon bank codes then that would be a much better incentive to get the duel pack.
If its $79.98 out the door (tax included) then yes, you are saving a little money. Not $10, but a little money.
This is one of the most ridiculous bundles I have ever seen from Nintendo. Isn't the point of a bundle to save money? I thought about canceling my preorder for Sapphire but if it's the same price I'll just buy Ruby separately. If it was $60 or even $70 I'd definitely consider it. One of the stupidest bundles ever Nintendo.
... Either this is a typo or Nintendo really thinks we're asininely stupid.
isn't it 200 potions you get? ^^
"It's an ideal solution for parents with two children"
B/c kids always prefer getting 1 package to open together rather than each having their own present to open. I'm guessing Alex doesn't have any kids.
I'm guessing Amazon will sell this cheaper - each game is 3 cents cheaper now - so I suspect $79.00 for a 98c savings. And you do get the 100 potions.
I already have 2 $5 GC cards for Target, so thats an $8 savings (cards were $1 each), plus the 5%. Plan may be to use those 2 GC for SSBU, then I'll get another GC for $5 (ok $4 saved), and maybe buy an amiibo w/ that $5
No difference between buying this and buying them separately. Ninty's counting on Murican parents being more silly than they actually are during the holidays to try to get more copies sold. Also, 100 regular potions is nothing. You only ever need about 30 potions before you move onto super and hyper portions (heck, you can skip super potions), unless the player is a 3 year old.
@BattleEnder
They do. Nintendo thinks we will buy anything they put out blindly. No matter how many failures and controversies they go through, they'll always think that.
They also think we're all too stupid to know all the games we're missing out worldwide and that we shouldn't be outraged by the region lock, since we're not supposed to know what games are released in other regions anyway.
It's nice to know that they've dropped all pretense of two versions of Pokemon being anything other than a cash grab.
@Stu13 Or we could sue for false advertising, $10 lost, and $10,000,000 dollars in emotional damages to readers.
The "two versions of the game" was novel back in the Gameboy era, but it's kinda hokey now. Just release one version of the game and include all the pokemon.
I'd rather have the transparent 2DS's in North America.
Maybe you can play both games side by side and cross your eyes to get stereoscopic 3D effects.
Yeah Im not a fan of tge duel versions. I understand the connectivity thing to interact with otgers in order to get those 5 or 10 pokemon you cant in the other version but its such an insignificant thing. What really erks me though is to hear gamefreak come out and say 'a new pokemon stadium isnt novel enough' "or pokemon snap isnt creative enough" for a sequel bit lets keep rolling out the horse crap double packs that serve no purpose at all whatsoever. To me its moronic thinking.
I mean me and the hubby usually get both, but where's the savings for buying the two in one shot, the bonus is weak weak weak.
Well, id say UK has nothing to be too jealous about. As they're getting the steelbook versions with the figurines.... so yeah.
Is this really the best you can do NOA??
Whatever. maybe some kids will find the extra potions useful.
@rjejr Yup, I don't have any kinds but I buy games for a cousin and my nephew and this is a nice treat. They'd be excited for the potions too, I mean, for me they are kinda useless but for them it'd be like "whoa, 100 potions!". Too bad this doesn't even come out out of the US, shame on you NoA. And shame on you for not bringing the steel cases!!!
100 potions sell for 15000 poke dollars. It's worth it in the early game.
I thought it was two games in one cartridge!
It would be interesting!
Potions? Seriously? That's like a Mario game bundle giving you five extra lives.
@Prof_Clayton Japan got it too, if they preordered bouth games.
I hope Europe will get something like this pack
I'd buy it if you could transfer save files. But since you can't, I'll stick with AS only.
Wow. That's a heroically stupid bundle. Bravo.
Are both of the games on the same cartridge?
an interesting choice, to say the least
@Ichiban
They already do that, and it isn't gouging anything. The entire point of having two versions is to encourage trading, and at this point its also tradition. There really is no reason to buy both, especially now when you can trade globally via the internet.
This isn't much of a deal at all though, its literally the same price as buying both separately. If they bundled them with the guidebook like the originals or made it a collector's edition then yea, it would be.
Maybe if they offered download codes for the original games via VC and/or the complete OST to the game, instead, as a bonus, for buying the exclusive pack.
In-game potions? Really? That's the best they could come up with as a bonus? Like someone else said, it's like getting extra lives in a Mario game. What's the point? lol.
If you check the Bestbuy.com preorder page, if you were to buy this or any $39.99 games and above, you can purchase their gamers club unlocked for only $30! The normal price is $119.99 for two years. But since BB only offers two years.. $30 is a amazing low price. Joining Gamers Club unlocked gives you benefits like GS Powerup rewards does. 10% off preowned games and 10% extra trade-in credit. But the real benefit of joining is the 20% off new games. ANY NEW GAME. Even games that are on sale or that were just released benefit the extra 20%. I've been a member since they started the program and I've never bought any games at full price anymore. Ex. $59.99 per retail AAA game -20% equal $47.99 before taxes. Huge savings if you're a gamer who buys all the games each season! So I'm planning to pick this up and it'll be $63.99 for me instead of $79.99....Got that out of my system! :3
yeah its stupid idk why they would do something like this here in Cali that would be about $90 with all the tax and shipping crap... anyway not only was the math wrong but the article says 100 potions but the sign says 200 xD eh one number wrong who cares right but its still funny
I normally buy both copies so this would be good, if I didn't already have one on preorder and will buy the other digitally to play on day one.
Wow, everyone getting so worked up about this bundle! If it's not for you, just don't buy it. There are plenty of other deals elsewhere, Target, TRU...and to those getting mad at Nintendo of America for not releasing the limited editions in North America, I'm positive they will announce it as coming soon...exclusively to the Nintendo World store in NYC. -_-
still is it 2 physical copies?
just saying in Canada the games are 50$ a copy including taxes so im saving 10$! XD
