Re: Sleek Metal NES Analogue Nt Now Available for Preorder

jjmesa16

I think I'll stick with my NES instead of buying this outrageously priced piece of hardware (and the choice for other colors should be free). And why the aircraft grade aluminum? I don't really plan on flying a NES emulator.

One good thing is, is that it looks cool.

Re: Disney Infinity 2.0: Marvel Super Heroes Comes To Wii U But Not Wii

jjmesa16

Quicksilver and Scarlett Witch are where the rights get really confusing. Obviously Fox is able to use the twins because they are the children of Magneto and are part of the mutant universe. However Disney, Marvel Studios, is also able to use them in the Avengers as long as they don't mention the word "mutant" or acknowledging that they are part of the X-Men universe.

What are video game rights part of anyway? The Marvel toys division, which as I said is owned by Disney?

Edit: Fox and Marvel have a rights agreement for many characters in the mutant universe. That's why I didn't bother putting them on the list. Most of them are somehow related to the X-Men.

Re: Disney Infinity 2.0: Marvel Super Heroes Comes To Wii U But Not Wii

jjmesa16

@jazo152 I realize that now.

Here is some info to clear up Marvel rights:

Film rights
Fox: X-Men, The Fantastic Four, and the word "mutant" (in terms of Marvel superheroes) interestingly
Sony/Columbia: Spider-Man
Disney: The Avengers. Not quite sure how Disney squired the film rights to the Hulk.

Disney also own the Marvel toy rights. Marvel owns the comic rights, which they will always own.

Re: Talking Point: Nintendo's E3 Plans Are Full of Tantalising Potential

jjmesa16

@Dark-Link73 I completely agree. I really miss the big stage presentations from Nintendo. The only problem with stage presentations, and E3 in general, nowadays is that they don't get the same media attention that they used too. You used to be able to watch the presentations as well as highlights from the show floor on TV (at least in the US but I'm not sure about other countries). However with the end of G4TV, Spike is the only TV station at E3 and they don't show much of anything from the conference.

I have to say that I'm somewhat excited for Nintendo at E3 this year as the past few years have been a bit disappointing, aside from Super Smash Bros. E3 2012 was disappointing to me because it was almost the same presentation as 2011, with Nintendo not revealing the price and release date of the Wii U at either conference. E3 2013 was alright but I missed Nintendo's physical presence, in terms of a presentation. I'm hoping that 2014 will be better.

@willobee The most expensive place I have found it is at EB Games New Zealand for $99 but Nintendo published Wii U games are selling for $108 (Mario Kart 8, Super Smash Bros., and New Super Mario Bros. U). Other than that Australia has it for $89 (Nintendo published Wii U games are selling for about $79 there), the UK had a starting price of £64, and $75 in Canada (each listing is in each country's currency).

Re: Disney Infinity 2.0: Marvel Super Heroes Comes To Wii U But Not Wii

jjmesa16

@SavoirFaire If your daughter likes Marvel then pick it up. However the first has all of the Disney characters. If you get the second one you will not have access to the Pirates of the Caribbean, Monsters University, and Incredibles play sets because they are only available within the starter pack, unless you find the game piece through eBay in which you would need the characters of that game to play it. For example you would need to buy the game piece and the sidekicks pack to play the game.

Disney Infinity: Marvel Super Heroes does make it easier to build worlds in the Toy Box which is a cool area of the game and they said that they are releasing other Disney characters in the future so that's promising.

I'd probably go for the second one because you can always buy the Toy Story, Cars, and Lone Ranger playsets later. That way the game isn't all Marvel characters.

PS Sorry for the long answer.

Re: Disney Infinity 2.0: Marvel Super Heroes Comes To Wii U But Not Wii

jjmesa16

@UnseatingKDawg They had Spider-Man at the end.

Disney is limited to the Avengers (which is still a lot of characters) because Fox already owns the rights to the X-Men, as well as most of the characters related to them, and the Fantastic Four. I'm kind of surprised that Disney was able to get Spider-Man seeing that Sony is making the films.

Re: Feature: The Ultimate Super Smash Bros. Direct Round-Up

jjmesa16

I'm kind of disappointed to see that the Wii U won't come out until after December 21 but it's cool that the 3DS version is coming out this summer. The new pokemon characters look pretty cool and it'll be interesting to see what other character join the fray. Also it is strange the Pilotwings is a Wii U stage seeing that there is a Pilotwings game for the 3DS and none for the Wii U (unless you count the VC one). It might be because the stage looked better on the Wii U but the 3D graphics for that stage would have been cool on the 3DS.

Re: Video: Marvel Characters Making Their Way to Disney Infinity

jjmesa16

I'm kind of disappointed that Marvel is making its way into Disney Infinity. I don't think that a cartoon Captain America figure/character will look good. Disney has so many other potential characters to put in Disney Infinity. Characters from The Lion King, Beauty & the Beast, The Little Mermaid, Jungle Book, Robin Hood, Wall•E, and Finding Nemo would all be awesome to have in Disney Infinity. Disney has way too many good characters and shouldn't have to go into the Marvel Universe. Marvel has too many of their own games too.

Re: Talking Point: The Timing of Nintendo's Super Smash Bros. Direct Raises Expectations

jjmesa16

Do you think that this will be the last Nintendo Direct before E3 or do you think that they will have one before the release of Mario Kart 8?

In terms of the Nintendo Direct on Tuesday, I'm very excited to see new footage/character(s) from the new Super Smash Bros. If Nintendo doesn't give a release date it will pretty much be a failure for me. A release window would be a bit disappointing too as Nintendo hasn't stuck within their windows as of late. I'm expecting this game to be out around September but I wouldn't be surprised if it comes out during the holiday season. Overall I'm kind of expecting good things from Nintendo as the last couple of Nintendo Directs have been a bit disappointing. Hey maybe Nintendo will give us Super Smash Bros. 64 or Melee, the best game in the series, on VC but I doubt it. I can dream right?

Re: Talking Point: What Games Are You Playing This Weekend? - Issue Twenty Two

jjmesa16

I might start over Paper Mario: Sticker Star or Luigi's Mansion 2. I keep playing Pokemon X as I might compete in the next tournament. If I have other time I'll probably play some Mario Kart 7. Definitley a 3DS time right now as the Wii U continues to go through a games drought (besides VC).

I might also pick up a Gameboy Advance game or 2 but my 3DS is keeping me pretty occupied at the moment.

Re: Miiverse Gets a Fresh Update for Wii U and 3DS

jjmesa16

Great updates but honestly I will probably only use the search feature, which should have been there long ago. The only thing that I use Miiverse for is to look at my activity feed for news from Sakurai, Tom, and other Nintendo executives, and to check out the Pokemon forum.

One thing that they need to fix is the ability to post friend codes under the Pokemon forum so that you can trade and battle through Miiverse instead of having to go elsewhere to meet new people.

Screenshots for any game would also be nice. Imagine a button combo that would take a screenshot from any game and would give you the choice of going to Miiverse or saving it to your camera roll.

There is still a lot of work to be done with Miiverse but it is getting better.

Re: Review: Pokémon Link: Battle! (3DS eShop)

jjmesa16

One thing that would make this game a must buy is if it was linked to Pokemon Bank or to Pokemon X/Y so that you could transfer Pokemon you caught in Pokemon Link: Battle to the main games. That would be awesome.

Re: Review: The LEGO Movie Videogame (3DS)

jjmesa16

I still don't see the big deal about The Lego Movie. Sure I saw it and it was very creative but it is nowhere near the best animated movie I've seen. I'm not saying I hated it. I just thought it was alright, not excellent.
