Re: Opinion: Donkey Kong Bananza's Delightful World Map Is Another Nintendo Banger

invictus4000

Im loving the game so far (about 3/4 through it) and honestly the level design is the only thing I find to be pretty disappointing and uninspired. I guess it just depends on your tastes. Was hoping for more deep forest and jungle stuff where I can kind of roam everwhere but instead there seems to be a lot of just kinda plain landmasses in lakes of dangerous liquid.
That being said, the map SYSTEM is great!

Glad I'm not a tech guy and can't notice any of the stuff people are complaining about. Lol
Call me old fashioned but I can easily enjoy a good game whether its 4K/60 or an Atari game running at 10 fps. Haha
We live in the age of doom and gloom. Since the S2 had kind of a lukewarm launch, people are just finding things to nitpick. Once we have a few more killer apps for the system like Bananza, 3D Mario, and Prime 4, people will shut up, realize the S2 is incredible, and just start enjoying the games.

Thank you for mentioning the cross save issue! I thought I was going insane and bought this version just to use cross save. Hopefully its patched up soon. SOOO freaking excited to jump between playing this on PSVR2 (which is nothing short of surreal) to playing it in pancake mode on the go on the same save file! One of the best games ever just got a whole lot more versatile!

Re: Poll: With One Week To Go, What Are Your Switch 2 Launch-Day Plans?

invictus4000

I remember when Switch 1 came out, my three kids were really small, and my wife took them all to her mom's house all day so I could play Breath of the Wild on my own in peace. Now, my oldest kid is almost driving and all three of us are going to go to Gamestop at 10pm on Wednesday (I'm on the west coast) to pick up the Switch 2 and check it out together. It will be their first experience doing a console launch so I cannot wait; sure for myself, but mostly for them to experience it! I then have the next 4 days off of work so I can just check it out at my leisure. SO excited!

Re: Video: Here's Another Look At The Lord Of The Rings 'Tales Of The Shire' Game

I feel like this game will end up being really good. I'm personally excited as a massive Tolkien fan but I agree that something went wrong with the art direction. There is definitely something extremely unappealing about 1) the lighting engine, 2) the eyes of the hobbits (like the pupils are too big?), 3) the walking animation, and 4) the proportions of the lower half of the body. The houses and world itself look great but the uncanny valley thing is throwing a lot of people off. I wish they would use all these delays to just fix what everyone is giving feedback on.

Re: Opinion: A Few Too Many Questions & Unwelcome Surprises Are Taking The Shine Off The Switch 2 Reveal

As it stands now, the price of the console is great. The price of S2 exclusive games is rough at 70, straight up bad at 80, and the price of S2 Editions are nothing less than unforgivable and unacceptable. (80 for a fresh copy of enhanced Forgotten Land? WUT?). If games are gonna be 70-80 consistently, I can swallow it...but one thing is for sure...I'm going to be wildly selective with what I buy. No more impulse buys on mid-tier releases. Must-have AAAs only.
As far as the tariff things go...what a weird situation! I'm in the camp that overall Trump has been one of the best things to happen to this country in a long time but I'm not naive enough to think everything he does is great. Destroying woke culture, restoring morals and law and order has been great, but this tarrif situation has me scratching my head. I think answers are coming and I assume he has an overarching plan and if it ends up being for the good of the country and economy, I don't mind sacrificing a trivial thing like video game prices for a while. That being said, so far all his tariff policies seem to be based on incorrect data and have no clear objective so...who knows? Continuing down this road can lead to some good results IF it's a short term thing with a plan. It could be really bad for longterm.
Anyway, we will all have to wait and see what happens! At the end of the day, I bet things will be a lot clearer and feel a lot better by launch day as more info comes to light.

Personally I can't wait. It's amazing to see all the same faces that worked on the OG LotR movies talking about developing this. They know thier stuff and don't go cheap on quality (which probably explains the 3 delays it's had so far). This is thier first game though as a studio so I'm just hoping they can stick the landing. Yeah...the faces are a bit uncanny valley but it's not a deal breaker for me.

Prepare to be disappointed! Haha.

Honestly though, I can't help but be SO excited for this. The fact that they even mentioned CT is a miracle in and of itself. I have to believe that the reason it missed the Switch is because a hefty remake or remaster of some kind was in the works....right?? What other explanation is there? Please Square...PLEASE...just do this right.

Re: 'Switch 2' Replica Showcased By Accessory Maker Genki At CES 2025

This is just downright embarrassing. Talk about Nintendo getting the wind taken out of thier sails. The Switch 2 is basically already completely unveiled. They better have some big surprises lined up for the official reveal or they might have some serious catch up work to do to get any kind of hype power back.
On the other hand...I'm glad it's just a more powerful, backwards compatible Switch so I can just replace my OLED with it and not have to invest in a while new ecosystem.
