A new preview for Elden Ring: Tarnished Edition has gone live courtesy of Denfaminicogamer (thanks, Go Nintendo), and judging from the commentary and gameplay footage, it seems any lingering performance concerns can potentially be put to rest.

You can see for yourself in the above footage in which we see the player taking on the likes of the Tree Sentinel and the Glintstone Dragon Smarag, among other fearsome enemies. Most of the footage showcases the game in handheld mode, with a brief look at docked mode at the beginning.

Honestly, it looks spectacular. It's difficult to get an exact read on performance from the off-screen gameplay, but it seems like FromSoftware has gone above and beyond to ensure Elden Ring looks and runs beautifully on the Switch 2.

The preview itself was glowing, with the writer noting that their experience with the game on Switch 2 left them "utterly speechless", stating that there was "absolutely no lag or stuttering". If that's not enough, it sounds like handheld mode is particularly impressive, with the writer claiming that there's barely any noticeable difference in visuals and performance from docked mode.

It sounds incredibly promising then, and thankfully we don't have long to wait until we see if for ourselves. Elden Ring: Tarnished Edition is scheduled to launch on 28th August 2026.
