As it stands now, the price of the console is great. The price of S2 exclusive games is rough at 70, straight up bad at 80, and the price of S2 Editions are nothing less than unforgivable and unacceptable. (80 for a fresh copy of enhanced Forgotten Land? WUT?). If games are gonna be 70-80 consistently, I can swallow it...but one thing is for sure...I'm going to be wildly selective with what I buy. No more impulse buys on mid-tier releases. Must-have AAAs only.
As far as the tariff things go...what a weird situation! I'm in the camp that overall Trump has been one of the best things to happen to this country in a long time but I'm not naive enough to think everything he does is great. Destroying woke culture, restoring morals and law and order has been great, but this tarrif situation has me scratching my head. I think answers are coming and I assume he has an overarching plan and if it ends up being for the good of the country and economy, I don't mind sacrificing a trivial thing like video game prices for a while. That being said, so far all his tariff policies seem to be based on incorrect data and have no clear objective so...who knows? Continuing down this road can lead to some good results IF it's a short term thing with a plan. It could be really bad for longterm.
Anyway, we will all have to wait and see what happens! At the end of the day, I bet things will be a lot clearer and feel a lot better by launch day as more info comes to light.

I'm not an expert, but I don't know why Nintendo doesn't just can't sell them for the first little while directly through thier site and maybe based (at first) on those who have Nintendo accounts. Like, 1 unit per account for the first run as like, early access and then to retailers for the 2nd print. Wouldn't that help with scalpers?

Personally I can't wait. It's amazing to see all the same faces that worked on the OG LotR movies talking about developing this. They know thier stuff and don't go cheap on quality (which probably explains the 3 delays it's had so far). This is thier first game though as a studio so I'm just hoping they can stick the landing. Yeah...the faces are a bit uncanny valley but it's not a deal breaker for me.

An indie showcase or partner direct are not real directs in my book.

@Dev1024 Agreed. I feel like they are stubbornly sticking to whatever schedule they determined to do and at this point it was a fail on thier part. Waited way too long and now they are suffering the consequences.

This is just downright embarrassing. Talk about Nintendo getting the wind taken out of thier sails. The Switch 2 is basically already completely unveiled. They better have some big surprises lined up for the official reveal or they might have some serious catch up work to do to get any kind of hype power back.
On the other hand...I'm glad it's just a more powerful, backwards compatible Switch so I can just replace my OLED with it and not have to invest in a while new ecosystem.

I'd put money on January. I think Nintendo has its finger over the button with all these rumors and leaks running wild but just have to wait until Christmas is over so they don't hamper S1 sales.

Nothing will top the original Xenoblade Chronicles for me, but this one comes 2nd. Had a blast with it back in the day. I actually hated 2 and 3.

My first thoughts: 1) How will they manage the gamepad map system with no 2nd screen? And 2) how will they manage those tiny menus and tiny text on handheld mode? 3) Can this really fit on one cart?

GRIS was one of the best games of the last decade/last gen. About 5 hours long, no combat, no dialogue but moved me to tears by the end. As this one revolves around animals I don't know if it will be as impactful for me (not a pet or animal person at all) but it still looks incredible. Bought it and can't wait to stream it later this week!
I don't know if it's just my age or what...but short artistic games are usually more appealing to me than most big AAAs. Haha

Although this is a pretty strong list, it goes to show you that the Switch truly is about ready to tap out. I've played and own everything on the platform that I've ever been interested in and there are just SO many rehashes, clones, and samey stuff. Bring on the Switch 2!

Whoa this is so random! Loved playing it on the DS Lite and loved/still have the 3DS remaster. It was mind blowing to have an experience like this on a handheld back then but as much as I love it, not sure it really has a place on Switch. It will really bring out all the dated flaws. I'd say its worth no more than $15 on Switch.

Chrono Trigger is one of my favorite games of all time and I loved the 16-bit era as a kid. Yet somehow this game's demo didn't grab me and I have no idea why. That being said, I will be buying this for sure as I have no doubt it will be phenomenal once I can sit down with the finished product properly. Also I want to be sure to support a genuine studio like this full of smart, creative people with real passion you don't often find anymore in this industry. I even applied once to work there. Haha. Sabotage is the real deal. The cover artist for my novels is personal friends with the composer. (Eric, not Mitsuda. Haha)

FF2 on SNES made me a gamer so that original holds a special place in my heart but that DS remake is sooo good. That's what FF6 needs.

I can't imagine it will stay exclusive to GBA and still make a profit as very few people will still have that hardware. That being said...I have an old GBA so I'll be one of those people.

We all know Zelda will come out on top.
The irony is I was in the 'Totk is Botw DLC' camp and wasn't too pumped about it while being extremely hyped for FF16. I ended up loving TotK and absolutely hating 16.

If it ain't a remaster Megaman Legends, I ain't interested.

This year my highlights have been RE Village on PSVR2 and Tears of the Kingdom. I could play both of these games literally endlessly.

@Serpenterror Agree 100% on your definition of FF. FF9 is my favorite game of all time and in my opinion the last one that was truly great. Now that 16 is out I can declare with confidence that for me (an older fan of the classics) FF is truly dead and buried. I've come to terms with it.

The ironic thing is that TotK's marketing was terrible and I was not hyped at all about it while being super excited for FF16. Turns out after playing the 16 demo I was very disappointed and cancelled my preorder. I got TotK kind of hesitantly and haven't been able to stop playing it about 70 hours in.

Anybody else feel like they are WAAAY too stupid for the build mechanics in this? Normally I'm a pretty creative guy but I can barely manage to put the most basic of shapes together in this game.

Having merely liked BotW rather than absolutely loved it, I can't say I'm CRAZY hyped for this, but definitely excited to try it. Sadly, I'm out of town for a lecture and book signing until Saturday night. It'll be sitting in my mailbox all day just chilling...

It almost feels like the Switch is at that point the 3DS was when they announced the Metroid 2 remake and Luigi's Mansion remake. They were still preaching it was far from over but we all knew the system was on life support. Which blows my mind. With how wildly successful the Switch has been you would think they would have kept the big hitters coming for another few years. 6 years feels far too short when its not unheard of for popular consoles to go for 10. I hate to think that whatever Direct we get this summer will have a last few surprises and that'll be that.
I still believe we won't even hear about a new console until end of 24.

Great game. But I feel this belongs on the 3DS and Wii U with it being driven solely on touch controls.

@LexKitteh In the exact same boat. Huge Zelda fans but have a record of hating all the sequel games (like Majora). Guess we will see!

@Krambo42 Awakening is easily the best entry in the series imo. Amazing story, best characters, and invented the dating sim wheel FE has been riding on the past decade. Its there but not overdone.

Wow...gotta be honest...I wasn't very interested in this one as I haven't loved the series direction in a while but this may have changed my mind. I like 3 Houses okay but it was a one and done for me. The fact that the dating silliness has taken a back seat peaks my interest. I will just have to get used to the protag's fruit-by-the-foot hair. Lol

@Expa0 I kinda feel ya. Awakening on 3DS was the pinnacle of the series for me and its just kinda gone downhill since then.
